Kate groaned when she heard the alarm go off and burried her head deeper in the pillow.

"Why did you have to put it so early?" she mumbled when she felt Rick move to turn it off.

"It's not that early honey, it's 9." he laughed, kissing the back of her head. "We promised Alexis that we would be there to get her when school's out. And we need to pack everything since someone didn't want to start yesterday."

"Yeah, like you were complaining." Kate laughed.

"Never." he said, kissing her properly now that her mouth was accessible.

"I just wanted to make the most of our alone time before going back to anyone else. And I didn't want to pack, because I don't want to go back. Can't we just bring Alexis here?"

"You know we can't." Rick laughed. "Come on, get up." he continued, kissing her neck.

"If you start doing that, we'll never get up and you know it." Kate replied, pushing him away reluctantly. She sat on the side of the bed, the room continued to move around.

"You ok?" Rick asked, seeing some discomfort on her face. "You look ... white."

"Yeah, I'm fine.I just sat up too quick. I don't feel really good but it'll pass."

"Well, I hate to say it but get used to it. The morning sickness is supposed to last the whole first ... trimester." he finished as she rushed to the bathroom. "I don't think your doctor's appointment tomorrow will be necessary." he said calmly. "Or if you're not pregnant, you know how to fake it really well."

"That's not funny." Kate said once she had finished throwing up. "And set up your alarm for tomorrow to because we have the first appointment of the day at 8. And then I have a big meeting at work. Uh, I don't want to go back to work. I want this weekend to last forever."

"Don't worry, we'll have a lot of other perfect weekends."

"You know the thing that I will miss the most? It's being with you all the time. I really don't want to go back to my apartment. I love living with Lanie but ... it's not the same."

"Well, you could always move in now. I'm sure Lanie would not be surprised. I feel like she's been waiting for you to announce it to her for quite some time to tell you the truth."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Well, that's what I think. But you do as you want. Just know that, of course, my door is always open for you and our baby."

"I will talk to her tomorrow night. Would you mind if I told her about the baby?"

"Of course not. She's your best friend. You can tell her whatever you want."

"Thanks. Now we better get to the packing or we'll be let to get Alexis at school."

Alexis had run to them, flown it seemed, as soon as she saw them waiting outside the school. She almost knocked Rick down as she jumped in his arms.

"You're back! You're back!"

"Yes we are Sweetie." Rick laughed.

"Kate, are you coming home with us?" Alexis asked as she moved into the young woman's arms.

"Yes I am. And I'll even spend the night at the loft."

"Yeah! Can we watch a princess movie? Oh and I have to show you all the pictues I drew at school when you were not here. And we learned about farm animals too. And we sang a song about ducks and cows and donkeys and ..."

"Come on chatterbox, let's get moving. You can sing us your animal song in the car." Rick laughed, leading Kate with a hand on the small of her back as she carried Alexis.

Ten minutes later Rick regretted asking Alexis to sing. She had been on "repeat" the all way back to the loft and she didn't show any sign of wanting to stop any time soon.

"Hey, Alexis, come and see the pictures we took in the Hamptons. There is one especially for you." Kate called, Rick's laptop in her hand.

The two girls looked at the photos for some minutes before getting to 'the one'. It had been Rick's idea. They had written Alexis' name with seashells and they had taken a photo just as a wave was coming towards it."

"Do you want to get it in a frame? We could put it on the wall in your bedroom." Rick suggested, hing come behind the couch to look at the pictures with his two girls.

"Yeah!" Alexis said excitedly. "I'm going to draw a thank you picture." she said, running upstairs to her bedroom.

"She really likes to draw doesn't she?" Kate asked, laughing at the girl's excitement.

"And singing too it seems." Rick said as he heard her start the animal song again.

"Hey, don't complain, you were the one who asked her to sing in the first place." Kate laughed.

She was tensed, he could sense it. They had been sitting in the waiting room for ten minutes, and for nine of them, she had been bouncing her knee.

"Kate, it's going to be fine, don't worry."

"I'm not worried, Rick. I'm just ... what if whatever happened to me before makes the baby in danger?"

"It is not. You read their report. It was nothing coming from you. Your drink must have been spiked and it was just a bad reaction."

"But ... it was a really strong reaction don't you think? I'm sure it was something else."

"Hey, what bring this up again right now? And don't say the baby because I'm sure there is something else."

Kate sighed and looked at him.

"It's just ... Javier called this morning when you were in the shower and Alexis was taking her breakfast and ... Will goes before the judge in two days."

"Oh. Will you have to go and testify?"

"I don't know yet. But even if I don't have to, I think I'll go and see what happens to him. A few colleagues already texted me to say that they were going. And you know what? I hope they ask me to testify, I really want to know what he has to answer to what he did."

"I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with you being in the same room as him again. And I have three days of meetings with Gina starting tomorrrow, I won't be able to go with you." Rick complained.

"You know, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with you spending three days with her after the way she talked to me at that charity event." Kate said, imitating him.

"Ok, I get it. But it's not the same, this guy ..."

He was cut off by the doctor coming in the waiting room "Miss Beckett?"

An hour later, Kate was entering her office building with the biggest smile on her face. She met her mother in her office.

"So, given your smile, I take it it has been confirmed?" Johanna asked, her own smile growing as she got up frim her chair.

"It has been comfirmed." Kate said, nodding enthusiatically.

"I'm so happy for you Katie. You're gonna be a wonderful mom." She said, hugging her tightly.

"You really think so? Because since it was comfirmed I just ..."

"Started to question everything? That's completely normal Sweetie. If you knew how I reacted when I was sure I was pregnant with you ...

"What did you do?" Kate asked.

"I may have turned how tiny apartment upside down to make sure we had enough room to put all your stuff, I may have called your dad fifteen times a day to make sure that I was not going to be a single mom,, I may have told him that if he ever wanted to ever see his child he had to do exactly as I said ..."

"But you still do all of that." Kate reflected.

"Well, I never said it had stopped, I just said it had sarted when I was sure I was pregnant with you." Johanna laughed. "So, when is that grandchild of mine suppose to make its great entry into the world?"

" Around July 25th." Kate said, smiling once again. She lost her smile when she thought about what she had to do that evening.

"What's wrong? Everything is ok with the baby right?" Johanna asked, a pancked look in her eyes.

"Oh yes, everything is perfectly fine, don't worry about it. It's just, tonight, I have to tell Lanie that I will be moving out to get settled with Rick and Alexis and ... I really don't want to have this conversation." Kate whined.

"Don't worry Sweetie, she will understand. And I really think that she kind of knows it's going to happen."

"Really? Are you sure? Because Rick said the same thing when we were away this weekend."

"I'm sure she'll be sad aout it, but she will understand. And she knows it's going to happen some day."

"I think I'm going to tell her ... about the baby. It might ease the transition." Kate said. "Well, I have to go. I have a meeting in five minutes. And then, when I go home, I have some cooking to do and I don't have anything I need."

"Well, I'm happy for you Sweetie. And just so you know it, I'm going to be a great grandmother, soiling my grandchild like crazy."

"Yeah, yeah, we'll see about that." Kate said, leaving her mother's office.
