Kayla turned her stony gaze out the window, deliberately ignoring Peter because she was still so angry with him about, well, everything, crossing her legs and trying not to get annoyed as he fiddled about with the radio as he drove, switching stations more often than Kayla thought was even possible.

"Ignoring me Kayla? Cause that's so mature" She could practically taste the smirk in his voice causing her to clench her fists, biting her bottom lip to stop from shouting profanities at him.

"I just thought you'd be more curious about, well, what you are" Peter told her and he was right, it did spike her interest, but it was at the bottom of the list of important things right about now.

"Really? You put my best friend in the hospital and my cousin is currently getting tortured by some murderous bitch and you think I'm that self centred?" She questioned snidely, shaking her head, "I don't care - not right now"

"Fine... it's not me that will be going through the change anyway" Peter muttered, trying to entice her and damn him, it was working. Why did it have to work? She tapped her fingers on her knee's, deliberately looking away from him and trying to focus on anything but Peter sitting right next to her. And what was with the whole 'change' thing anyway? She didn't feel all 'werewolf-y', so he was either lying... or lying. But, that was the thing, he didn't feel like he was lying so, effectively, he must be telling the truth then? Holy god, Kayla thought with a shake of her head, damn her curiosity.

"Urghhhh... what?" She ground out, throwing her hands up in surrender, "May as well pass the time instead of sitting here in awkward silence" Peter sent her a triumphant look and she crossed her arms stubbornly, narrowing her eyes at him, warning him not to piss her off, not now, not after everything.

"Ah, where should I start?" He smirked, changing gears in the car smoothly as he turned a corner, making Kayla send him an unimpressed look.

"Maybe at the beginning" Kayla said patronisingly as if she were talking to a five year old, which, seemed a lot more interesting than talking to Peter of all people.

"Right at the beginning? Because I think you're old enough to understand the birds and bee's Kayla" Peter replied and Kayla felt like gagging just at that image, turning her nose up because Peter and her mom was just...ew.

"Yeah, you can skip that part, I would rather keep my dinner down" She snapped, rolling her eyes at Peter's attitude.

"Well, fine, but if you ask me that was the best bit" And, wow, did Kayla want nothing more than to punch him, "But we are on a clock here so... here we go" He paused and Kayla rolled her eyes again at Peter's dramatics, her hands curling at her sides.

"Oh get on with it" She snapped, shaking her head, "We don't have all night"

"The Hale family secret" Peter started off saying, his eyes fixed on the road but they were gazed over, as if he was imagining being right there with what he was saying, "And trust me, there have been a lot of them... but this one actually broke our family a part" Peter sighed, hands clenching around the steering wheel, "I knew you was mine, John couldn't have any more kids, and I fully expected you to be a werewolf, like the rest of us, but... of course, you just had to be the odd one out" And Kayla glowered at him, wondering where the hell this 'story time' was going.

"Eventually, after you were born, we all agreed to keep it quiet... Derek and Laura were too young to really understand what was going on and Talia wanted the family back together again - waste of time if you ask me, but my dear old sister did a pretty good job" Peter told her in appreciation, and Kayla felt feelings of fondness bubbling in her stomach, Peter's feelings, about his sister, "There was family dinners and Christmas's but... I was treated like an outcast" His hands curled even more around the steering wheel to the point where Kayla thought it was going to break off, "Like it was my fault" He let out a humourless chuckle, eyes darkening, "Not like your mom didn't participate or anything" He added snidely, all his feelings of pent up anger and bitterness leaking out of him.

"But that's another story for another time" He sighed, "When there was no signs of you changing, of being a werewolf, there was a family meeting... and..." Peter let out a snort, "And, oh boy, did we get a bombshell that day"

"What bombshell?" Kayla asked, now fully engrossed in his story, acting civil towards him for once, "About what?"

"Patience Kayla, I was getting to that part" He smirked, making her roll her eyes, "Your mom is... different, let's say" He added, "All the Jacob's women are which is why your genes were not compatible" And she gaped at him, her mind juts saying 'huh?' over and over.

"... O-kay... you're just talking in riddles now, and I hate riddles" She groaned, shaking her head because everything was just so damn confusing.

"Everyone hates riddles" Peter agreed, "But it's pretty straight forward - the females on your mom's side aren't human"

"Aren't...? Why of course they're human" Kayla exclaimed loudly, "My mom loves sewing and Jane loves shopping and Tabby, oh god, don't even get me started on how girly-girl she is... what else could they possibly be?" She added, frowning over at Peter, sure he was just yanking her chains for the hell of it.

"Poor little Kayla being lied to again" He sing-songed, sending her a faux sympathetic glance, "Another reason why you should really appreciate me more - I'm about the only person that has told you the truth" He added and she narrowed her eyes - if that was right then her family was seriously messed up.

"What. Are. They?" She asked slowly, ignoring Peter's shots at changing the subject, "I mean it Peter... no more games or holding back for the mystery of it"

"But that just makes it way more interesting" Peter protested, "And anyway... think of it as leverage"

"leverage for what?" She snapped, feeling his amusement in her stomach.

"leverage for helping me" He admitted, entering the school parking lot, "Because, whether you want to admit it or not, you need me"

"I don't need anyone, least of all, you" She said scathingly, fed up with the fact she was this-close to getting answers, this-close, and Peter decided, now out of all times, to keep his massive trap shut and firmly locked.

"Try telling yourself that Kayla" He said, distracted, shutting off the engine and looking around, no doubt using his stupid werewolf senses as an advantage - damn him, now she wished she had that, it could come in seriously handy. He twisted his head around to look at her, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Yes, you'll have heightened senses, not as good as our kind but, as you probably realised earlier with that little Wolfs bane moment... you'll have the best of both worlds" He told her, beginning to stride away, causing Kayla to scurry after him because, of course, he was playing on her curious side again.

"What do you mean?"

"You'll be the best of both breeds, and, if you work for it, harness your abilities, you could be pretty damn strong... another reason I need you in my pack" He told her as they walked up the front of the school steps, Kayla getting bad memories from earlier that night, "But you'll also be twice as vulnerable - Wolfs bane effects you now, so will mountain ash and about everything else that happens to werewolves, except, of course, the full moon - and let's not forget the fact you can't heal like us so you could die by a common human injury too"

"So.. what you're saying is... I'm an even bigger freak that will no longer get excruciating pains on the full moons?" She asked, just to make sure she heard him right and to not get her hopes us, watching as he nodded, pushing open the school doors, "Then I'm a very happy freak"

"But..." Peter started to say, and she groaned - of course she wouldn't be that lucky, "... Something else will happen"

"What?" She sighed, but Peter shook his head, "I'll leave it for you to experience... because that will definitely be something I do not want to feel from you" And she furrowed her eyebrows, because, dammit, she told him she hated him speaking in riddles.

"Whatever" She sighed, looking around, trying to grasp her surroundings, listening closely to see if she could hear anything, "Can you hear Derek anywhere? Cause he's kind of more important right now than our little sparring match?" She asked, but as she walked forward, he held out his arm to stop her, making her furrow her eyebrows.

"Hunters" He growled, and just like that his eyes went red and his body began shifting, painfully it looked, she might add, into... whatever the hell he was, and Kayla took a few steps backward, because damn... that thing looked as scary as hell. He sent her a fierce look, and Kayla felt a sense of protectiveness from him about Derek, but she, herself, felt it too - if hunters were there, Kate for example, things were going to go bad really soon.

And just like that, Peter was off, rampaging through the school doors, making them buckle at the hinges and Kayla let out a groan, "Seriously, Peter? I thought you wanted me in your 'pack?'" She hollered after him, somewhat sarcastically, trying to run after him but, although she was fast, she was no where near as fast as the frigging alpha, so by the time she had gotten to the broken doors, Peter was long gone.

"For the love of god..." She sighed to herself, looking around the night air, "Okay... think Kayla... use your... senses...or whatever" She was talking to herself, probably looking like a complete idiot, as she sucked in a breath, closing her eyes and focusing on Peter - on trying to access his feelings, instead of just feeling them in the pit of her stomach - trying to be him effectively. She was hit with a sudden force of bitterness, hatred and rage all at once, making her stumble and fall back against the broken doors, breathing deeply as pain spiked through her head - damn... Peter was one angry man, that's for sure.

But it did it's job - woods, he was in the woods, she got that sense, so she trusted her instincts (without knowing where they came from) and ran like the wind, almost toppling down the front steps, but managing to stabilise herself as she sprinted across the Lacrosse pitch, trying to forget about the image of Lydia lying there, covered in blood and bruises, and pelted on, hoping to get there before Peter could. By the time she got to the woods, she looked around in bewilderment - it was a pretty big darn woods, they could be anywhere!

But, luckily or unluckily, depending on which way you looked at it, a gunshot sounded off directly in front of her, a little ways a way, and her heart leapt and, before she could even grasp what she was doing, she was full on pelting through the woods, dodging branches like some kind of pro, and jumping over ditches, running faster than she had even ran in her life.

"Derek" She screamed, worry building up in her chest, heart racing, just about to reach where she assumed, or rather, hoped Derek was, only to get body slammed into a tree, making her groan and blink around blearily.

"Way to be obvious Kayla" Peter rolled his eyes, holding out a hand to help her up, but she narrowed her eyes, rubbing her shoulder as she pulled herself up, unassisted, wanting nothing more than to slap him.

"What the hell was that for?" She snapped, leaning back against the tree, "Derek is over there... I thought you actually cared about him, clearly I was wrong" She added fiercely, glaring at him, but Peter looked unimpressed with her insults, choosing instead to roll his eyes.

"You've got to wait for the right moment Kayla" He told her, "That's something I'm going to have to teach you, I see"

"I may as well just go to drama school then" She exclaimed, "Because, while you're here, slinking about in the shadows, Derek could be getting hurt, something that you could've stopped if didn't want to make a dramatic entrance"

"Scott's with him... I'm just waiting for that Argent to make herself known" Peter replied fiercely, a hard note to his voice that sent shivers up her spine.

"Scott's there?" She heard herself exclaim loudly, eyes going wide, fear clenching her heart, "We... we have to go"

"We?" He asked, sending her an impressed look, "Have you finally accepted me?" he asked and Kayla gaped, cursing herself internally for that slip-up because, as much as she wished she hated his guts... she didn't, and that made her even more mad at herself because she felt like she should - he was a bad person, a murderer, he didn't care about anyone but himself, but... she didn't hate him... she just acted like she did.

"... You can either help or stay here... but I'm sure as hell not gonna do the latter" She replied heatedly, turning on her heel and striding away in Derek's direction, and he didn't stop her, or try to body slam her again, so she took that as a good sign. By the time she had arrived on the scene, all hell had broken loose. Quite literally. Kate was pointing a gun at Scott, Allison not far behind her, horror written all over her face, Derek was lying on the ground and Chris Argent was also there, glowering at Kate the whole time.

"No one asked you to murder innocent people... there was children in that house, one's that were human" She heard Chris say and she stopped walking, her heart dropping at that painful reminder - there was children in that fire, the fire that Kate started, innocent children, little Charlotte and George who had done nothing, their whole lives gone, wiped out, because of her. Kayla felt anger tearing through her muscles, every fibre of her being, both Peter's and hers combined and, god, did Kayla wish she had a pair of K-nines to tear that bitch's throat out.

Allison looked up from where she was sprawled out, eyes blurry with tears, guilt written all over her face but Kayla ignored her, fists curling at her sides, glaring at Kate as she looked up, obviously hearing her approach.

"Look at you, you're holding a gun to a sixteen year old boy with no proof he's spilt human blood... we go by the code Kate" Chris practically screamed at her and Kayla felt her eyes glowing again, bright green, fury making her limbs shake. Kate's lip curled at the sight of her as she pulled out another gun from the waistband of her pants, pointing it in her direction but Kayla found she honestly couldn't care less... because she felt so damn angry.

"The code?" Kate chuckled, "I think 'the code' needs re-evaluating because while we play Mr nice guy... these abominations" Kate screamed, shaking the guns in both Scott's and Kayla's direction, "are getting away with murder"

"No Kate" Kayla said in a deadly voice, a voice she had never heard herself use before, "I think you'll find that was you... you killed them and you don't care... you killed my family and you don't even care" She screamed, tears welling up in her eyes, taking a few steps forward, testing Kate, just to see if she really would shoot, "Little Charlotte and George who loved painting... George wanted to grow up and be a fireman, oh the irony, and Char just wanted to be a doctor... she wanted to help people - they were seven" She shrieked, getting closer and closer to the scene, "Or what about Cora - my cousin, she couldn't hurt a fly but you still burnt her alive" She added, ignoring Allison's shocked face and Scott's pitied one, "Or maybe Talia... the protector? Or maybe Rose? Darren? Peter?" She rattled off each name, not even realising she had placed Peter in with the 'victims' but she was far too angry to even care, "God... did you even bother to learn their names?" She screeched, walking right up to Kate who had her wary eyes fixed on her, glaring into her eyes until she felt the barrel of the gun pressing into her chest, right above the heart, "So, go on, shoot me... just another Hale to add to the list right?" She snarled, determined not to back down.

"Kayla... don't..." She heard Allison warn her, eyes wide as she watched the scene unravel in front of her but, dammit, Kayla was not taking her on, not right now, not when Kate was right there.

"Don't tempt me" Kate whispered in a cold voice, finger quivering on the trigger, but Chris' voice interrupted their stare off.

"Dammit Kate... drop the gun - now" He told her, firing off a warning shot, making the two girls jump slightly in shock, "Before I'll be forced to take you down" He said and Kayla felt herself smirking, she didn't know why, maybe it was the look of pure shock on Kate's face, or maybe because she felt Peter's presence near by, but either way... this feeling of satisfaction washed over her and, god, it scared her slightly.

Kate was still staring, flabbergasted, at her brother and Kayla felt herself snapping - just by looking at her, at the murderer of her family, she felt like killing everything in sight. So, with a roll of her eyes, she grabbed Kate's arm that was closer to her, bent it backwards, knocking the woman in question off balance, making the gun fling through the air and out of reach. Kate retaliated by punching out with her other hand, but Kayla's reflexes had kicked in and she was super aware of everything around her, so she ducked, springing back up and grabbing a fistful of Kate's hair, using it as leverage to swing her around, making her head collide straight into the trunk of a tree with a loud crack, but Kayla had no sympathy for her. None what so ever.

Kate was soon back on her feet though, whether from adrenaline or anger, Kayla didn't know, but she tried to point the gun at Kayla again, just about to pull the trigger, when Kayla mustered up all her strength from god knows where, her hand wrapping around Kate's wrist, bending it backwards causing Kate to let out a sound of pain as the gun fell to the ground below, leaving her weapon less.

Normally, this would be where Kayla would stop knowing she had won, probably leaving behind some witty remark, but obviously not today. She was far too livid as she crouched down, glowering at the woman who had made her life hell, her whole family's hell, eyes glowing a bright dangerous green as a warning not to mess with her, but Chris' gun shot off another round.

"That's enough" He snapped, "There will be no more unnecessary killing... not if I have anything to do with it" He snapped, but just then the sound of twigs snapping and leaves crunching made them all look around at the same time, watching Peter stroll through the woods in their direction.

"Oh, I don't know... I think my daughter had the right idea" He spoke up in a hard voice, effectively dropping that bombshell as smoothly as possible. Kayla sighed, coming back to earth as Allison stared at her in betrayl, eyes as wide as saucers, and Kate just raised her eyebrows in shock before quickly bending down, grabbing her gun and jumping up, letting off a few rounds, just like Chris was doing, but Peter had disappeared again, lurking in the shadows.

"Who's that?" Allison asked fearfully, grabbing her bow and arrows as kayla stood up, looking around nervously because, even though she was somewhat back in control, she knew Peter wasn't, she could practically taste his thirst for revenge and it was kind of scary.

"The Alpha" Scott replied back, repositioning himself into a defensive position, his eyes turning yellow as he prepared to fight and Kayla felt torn, like she was being pulled in two different directions. She knew she should help Scott and Derek and the others but, god, at the same time she felt 'why should she'? She didn't want anyone to die but... god, it was all just so complicated. She was beginning to feel a sort of attachment between her and Peter, which she didn't want to feel because she knew it was wrong, but... he was still her father - there, she finally admitted it.

A loud howl ripped through the quiet night air as everyone grabbed their weapons, all circling each other. Suddenly, as quick as a shot, Chris was knocked down, and then Allison who let out a pained noise and Kayla ran over to her, just to make sure she was okay because, dammit, Allison was off limits, even if she was still slightly pissed at her. Her friend pulled back though, and Kayla shook away the hurt, telling herself Allison was completely justified, just as Scott got knocked down too and only Kate was left standing.

"You have to make it stop Kayla" Allison whispered to her fearfully as Kayla knelt down next to her, "Please... I know you're hurting but... she's still my aunt" She pleaded, "I don't want to lose her like you lost yours" And, oh boy, did that pull on the heart strings. Kayla bit her lip, thinking it over, knowing if she let Kate die then no one would ever forgive her but, at the same time, wanting Kate to get exactly what she deserved and more.

Peter struck again, knocking Kate off her feet and that brought her back to reality - Peter was going to kill again, he was going to kill Kate in front of Allison, and Kayla was going to let him? Oh dear god, what was she turning into? Just as Kate slammed into the tree, Peter, in Alpha form, lifted her up by the neck, slamming her back to the ground again painfully, and kayla was sure she heard a rib crack.

"Wait... wait" She exclaimed loudly, jumping to her feet and hauling Allison up with her, "Peter... don't do this" She added, gulping when his furious red eyes met her, tasting the betrayal and bitterness coming from him in waves. His claws tightened around Kate's neck and Allison let out a small sob, and that was when Kayla knew she had to do something - not for Kate, or Peter, or her own guilt, but for Allison.

"Please... don't" She told him as he began to drag Kate through the woods, "Dad please" She screamed desperately, hoping to somehow connect to his human side, to knock him into his senses. He stopped moving through the woods, his deep red eyes beginning to fade as he looked at her, but just a second later, they were back to gleaming blood red, more furious than before, hauling Kate up and disappearing with her through the woods.

"No" Allison screamed, but Kayla grabbed her hand, keeping her in place as she grabbed her dropped crossbow that was nearby, thrusting it into her friend's hand, "Here... you really want to prove you're ready for all this? Take the shot" She couldn't believe she was saying this, because she was still torn, but Allison had a defiant look in her eyes as Kayla squeezed her hand and the two girls ran after Peter at full sprint, leaving behind dust in their wake.

She knew exactly where Peter was headed, whether through intuition or just plain lucky guess work, she didn't know, but it was kind of obvious to her. He was taking Kate back to where it had all started - the Hale house. She gripped Allison's hand tighter as they ran, luckily it wasn't far away from where they had been, less than half a mile, and the two girls crashed through the door, breathing heavily, and Allison raised her bow and arrows but Kayla saw her hand shaking as she looked at the scene in front of her.

"She is beautiful Kate - she looks just like you" Peter said approvingly, holding Kate by the throat in a deadly hold and Kayla knew, she knew, this wasn't going to end well - peter had got what he wanted and he was not going to let it slip through his fingers, "And brave too - whether cowardly... well, we'll have to see" He added tightening his grip on Kate making Allison's hand shake even more, the bow going wobbly.

"Allison, it's okay... just focus" Kayla whispered in a comforting voice, giving her friend's arm a squeeze, and trying to ignore the feeling that her heart was tearing in two, that she was helping to kill her own father. oh god.

"Ah Kayla... I'm really sorry about this, I really am, but the last thing I need from you is to be a therapist" Peter told her, his voice shaky, eyes turning red as he stared right at her, and all of a sudden, Kayla felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, like some seriously messed up induced acid trip - and trust her, she would know. She stumbled clumsily, falling straight into Allison, who dropped her bow, letting it clatter to the floor as she tried to grab her.

"Kayla, what... oh my god, what's happening?" She asked fearfully, and all Kayla did was blink up at her, gripping Allison's arms to keep her upright.

"Take... take the shot" She gasped, giving Allison a very obvious look, before falling straight to the floor beneath her like a stone, no longer able to keep her eyes open, the last thing she heard was Allison's panicked shout.

"Run, Run, Run, Run" Kayla heard, looking around in confusion because she could've sworn she was currently collapsing in Allison's arms, and not in the basement of the Hale house, but, evidently she was wrong. Looking around, she saw Charlotte and George's pale faces scrunched up in fear and pain and, oh god... what? Their little hands were clasped around the bars in the basement, tears streaming down their grubby faces, coughs escaping their throats.

"Mummy - daddy" they screamed fearfully, and Kayla felt her own tears streaming down her cheeks as she saw Rose, their mom, lying on the ground, hacking coughs escaping her throat, blood dribbling down her chin and Cora slumped against the pillar, eyes red with tears.

"S'okay..." Rose gasped, trying for a small smile, "It's going to be okay..." She whispered, before, suddenly, her eyes went vacant and blank, her hand falling to her side. Charlotte's and George's screams were like razor blades to her heart, as Kayla dropped to her knee's beside her aunt, face scrunched up in pain. She couldn't even feel her own lungs filling up with smoke, or the fire getting closer and closer to her skin, because her family was dying, right in front of her eyes, she didn't care about the physical pain because this was way worse.

James, another family member, was trying to use all his strength to break the bars, but he was weak with exhaustion and he, too, fell to the ground just as Peter rounded a corner, face full of ash and smoke and, in his hand, he tugged a little girl closer to his side, who gripped at his shirt as tight as she could.

Kayla gaped, tears sliding down her face when she realised... that little girl was her, just six years younger, her long hair sticking to her face, eyes wide and rimmed red. What? She wasn't there - she wasn't at the house when the fire happened, she would've remembered... she would've... oh god.

"We have to get out of here" Peter hollered, picking up the younger her as she buried her face in her chest, coughing, as Peter tried with all his might to push through the barrier that blocked them all in.

"It's... it's no use" James coughed, hand winding around his torso, "I've... tried"

"We have to... try... something" Peter hacked, placing the younger her on the ground as the flames licked at the walls.

Kayla let out a sob, falling to her knee's as she watched the scene unfold - watching James finally give up, watching Dean, her other older cousin, try and shield little George and Charlotte from the flames, his own screams filling up the air at the feel of his sizzling skin, Cora trying and failing to get up, to try and pull herself over to Peter and small her.

Kayla watched with blurry eyes as Peter's face was set in stone, determination set in his features, as he bent down, hands searching for a way out, any way out and little Kayla collapsed, her small hand reaching out to grasp Cora's and pull her along too, to do anything, but the smoke was too much and Cora had collapsed, her breathing irregular.

"Kayla" She heard Peter yell, lifting little her up under the arms and pulling her over to the wall, "Take... this exit" He coughed, "I'll get the others"

"No" Little her protested, tears running down her grubby cheeks, "I'm not leaving without Cora and Charlotte and Georgie-"

"I'll get them" Peter cut her off with a desperate yell, pushing her through the small hole that would definitely be too big for him to get through, she saw that now, "Please... go" He pleaded, before turning around and disappearing into the thick smoke, crawling around, shouting out names. The last thing Kayla saw was Cora opening her eyes, a determined glint in them, Peter collapsing in a heap, screaming as the flames touched his skin, and little George grabbing his sister's hand, pulling her to the ground under the bars, stripping off his jumper and covering Charlotte's head, hugging her small body to his as he let out his last breath.

Kayla didn't care about the flames inching closer and closer to her, not about the pain in her head, or the tightening in her chest that screamed at her to get the hell out of there before her heart stopped, because her family was dying, they were dying in the worst possible way and Kayla could do nothing to help, she could just sit there, sobs choking her throat as she heard Peter pleading for them to have mercy on the kids... before it all blacked out again.

When she awoke with a gasp, she was alone in the Hale house, completely empty, as real life tears prickled her eyes, escaping to flow freely down her face as she pulled herself up, looking around in worry.

Oh god, was that real? Did that actually happen? Was that what they all went through? These questions rattled around inside her head as she let out a choked sob, one hand clenching her chest, trying to get air into her lungs. She didn't even react when she saw Kate's limp, dead body lying on the floor, blood pooling around her because after seeing that, after witnessing what she did, she didn't care - not anymore, she was done caring.

She almost tripped over her feet as she grabbed a hold of the burnt and charred wall to keep her upright, gasping when all of a sudden, an all over burning feeling spread over her skin, but that wasn't what hurt - it was the realisation that it wasn't her burning, or even an illusion - it was Peter, it was her dad... they were killing him. He was dying - she had to stop it, she couldn't let them go through with it, not after everything that she had just seen, she couldn't, she couldn't lose him now.

She fell out of the house, sliding down the front steps, letting out a loud wail at the sight of Peter, in his Alpha form, alight with fire, her own skin prickling painfully as he moved about, trying to put it out, and her hands gripped at the mud and dirt on the ground, as Jackson threw another Molotov cocktail at him, and she let out another scream of agony, of pure and raw emotional pain because it all just hit her at once. She pulled herself up, sobs emanating from her throat as she tried to stumble forward, to try and do anything, to save her dad who had saved her in the past... to help him because, in her head, he was screaming for help, begging her to do something.

Suddenly though, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her backwards, away from the blaze, ignoring her feeble attempts to escape and choked cries. Stiles pulled her to the ground, as far away as possible from the scene, pulling her against his chest tightly, hand threading through her hair.

"Shhh it's okay" He comforted, gripping her even tighter as she tried to escape, "It's okay - it's over"

"No... no, no" She cried desperately fisting his shirt, "We have to-we have to save him" She cried, her nails digging into Stiles' flesh, "Please... we have to save him" She cried, her heart wrenching as she began to feel Peter slip away, his feelings getting harder to determine. Stiles just tightened his grip, one hand massaging her scalp while the other rubbed soothing circles on her back, trying his best to calm her down but she was hysterical as she felt whatever power or presence Peter had over her, finally leave, like a light getting extinguished, burying her face into Stiles' shoulder, his shirt getting wet with tears as she gasped, trying to get air into her lungs, to carry on breathing, to carry on living, like Peter had helped her do all those years ago.

And the worst thing? She never even got to thank him.
