Day 36: Sunday
A/N: Hopefully, I can start the next chapter right after this one or finish it tomorrow.
Shadow's POV
I'm not sure why I stayed by her side during the night, but it feels like I'm supposed to watch out for her. In normal terms, I get the feeling like I'm supposed to protect her, I mean before she fainted her energy did feel off.
"She'll be okay, right?" he asked slightly concerned.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in, answering "Yes, at least I hope so."
I stood up and glanced at her as Amy held her hand; I walked out and slid down the wall. Sonic walked up to me, asking "Are you worried about her?"
I glared at him, replying "No, she can handle herself, so naturally I have no one to worry about."
He continued "But what about you saving her?"
"Amy made me go and find her." I replied pulling my knees to my chest. He left as I closed my eyes and exhaled. I walked back in to see the covers thrown back.
"She woke up and went into the lab, saying she wouldn't come out until she finished the emerald." Amy said as I looked at her.
I walked down the wall to find Calvin and her mother in front of the door waiting for her to come out, I knocked after not getting a response, I left and came back with a guitar Tails somehow built before he came here. I started strumming while singing, "Warm yourself by the fire, son, and the morning will come soon."
I continued "I'll tell you stories of a better time, in a place that we once knew. Before we packed our bags, and left all this behind us in the dust, we had a place that we could call home, and a life no one could touch. Don't hold me up now, I can stand my own ground, I don't need your help now, you will let me down, down, down!"
The door cracked open as I finished the chorus and started the second verse "We are the angry and the desperate, the hungry, and the cold, we are the ones who kept quiet, and always did what we were told. But we've been sweating while you slept so calm, in the safety of your home. We've been pulling out the nails that hold up everything you've known."
Sandy finished "Don't hold me up now, I can stand my own ground, I don't need your help now, you will let me down, down, down!"
"Don't hold me up now, I can stand my own ground, I don't need your help now, you will let me down, down, down! Don't hold me up now, I can stand my own ground, I don't need your help now, you will let me down, down, down!"
"So open your eyes child, let's be on our way. Broken windows and ashes are guiding the way. Keep quiet no longer, we'll sing through the day, of the lives that we've lost, and the lives we've reclaimed."
Getting closer to me, she continued "Don't hold me up now, I can stand my own ground, I don't need your help now, you will let me down, down, down! Don't hold me up now, I can stand my own ground, I don't need your help now, you will let me down, down, down!"
Slowing down my strumming a bit, I finished "Don't hold me up...I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground. Don't hold me up...I don't need your help. No! No! No! Don't hold me up! I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground. Don't hold me up! I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground. Don't let me down, down, down, down, down!"
I gave her a light smile in triumph, to which she quickly denied "I did not just sing with you…even if it was fun."
"Uh huh, sure you didn't. Where are you going now?" I asked as she turned away from me.
She looked over her shoulder, replying "Simple, away from you."
After she left, both of the remaining people slapped me, I said unfazed "What was that for?"
Folding his arms across his chest, Calvin replied "Quit doing that…quit bonding with her."
I shrugged as they left, and I made my way to Sandy's door and sat near it. Tails sat next to me, asking "Shadow, are you positive you aren't worried about Sandy?"
I nodded, adding "Just as I said to Faker, she can take care of herself."
"But what about that letter you wrote?" He asked getting up.
My eyes widened at his statement as he walked away, how could I even think of doing something that stupid?
'You weren't thinking were you?' Mephiles quipped at me.
"Shut up, I had no idea they'd send me." I replied closing my eyes.
'You gonna try and get the letter before she reads it, aren't you?' He gave a smug reply at my statement.
"Yup, and nothing can stop me…Shut up, Mephiles." I said while shifting lightly. I got no response declaring he gave up. I opened my eyes at feeling a warmer temperature beside me, looking down at her I asked "I thought you wanted to get away from me?"
"Shut up, it was starting to get cold outside, and sadly, you were closest source of warmth." She replied looking ahead.
Rolling my eyes, I retorted "Or you're getting close to me on purpose, and you know damn well you don't hate me."
Punching me in the arm, she grounded out "Don't twist my words, 'sides no matter what stupid yet brave thing you do, I will always have a spot of hate for you."
"Be quiet and go to sleep, Female." I mumbled resting my head on the wall; a sigh was followed by my command. A light smile found its way on my lips, putting my head on hers I quickly drifted to a sort of fitful sleep.
A/N: Sorry this is late; my laptop didn't save the recent writing the first time.
Sonic: Saints-fan, tell the readers what's gonna happen.
No, I won't. Review please.
