Adam sat on the edge of the bed of the hotel room and looked over at his sleeping wife, running her left hand through his fingers and straightening her ring, replaying the news she'd told him

The night before. They were having a baby.

"Good morning." She said waking up.

"Morning." He smiled and kissed her. "Your sister called and wanted to know how you were feeling. I thought we would meet her, John and Logan for breakfast and tell them our news."

She smiled. "I would like that."

"Alright. You go ahead and get dressed. I'll call them and set it up. I have our bags all packed and we are all set to fly home."

"Sounds good." She smiled and got up to get dressed.

Adam called John and they made plans to meet in the hotel restaurant. He couldn't wait to tell everyone they were expecting. He looked up as she came out of the bathroom fully dressed. "They are going to meet us downstairs in the restaurant."

"Great." She smiled. "I'm hungry."

"Then let's go downstairs." He smiled and took her hand. He was so happy that they were expecting. He couldn't wait to a father.

They walked into the restaurant and saw John and Whitney waiting with Logan. Whitney smiled when she saw her sister. "Hey, how are you feeling today?"

"I'm good." Shelby smiled. She looked at Logan who was in the infant seat. He was so cute and sweet. And she couldn't' wait to be a mom.

She smiled over at Adam. "We should tell them." He said and she nodded.

"Tell us what?" Whitney asked.

"Well, I know why I was sick."

"Why?"

"I'm pregnant."

"Oh my god." Whitney yelled and hugged her. "I'm so excited for you."

Shelby laughed and hugged her back "Thank you."

"This is so exciting. You're going to be a mommy."

"Mom is going to be so excited." Adam said smiling. "Almost as excited as I am."

"You should call and tell her." Shelby said to him.

"You don't want to wait until we are in the second trimester?"

"No. She deserves to know now."

"Alright. Let's call her." He smiled as he got out his phone. He scrolled down to his mom's name and pressed send. He hoped his mom picked up.

"Hello?"

"Hey Ma."

"Oh hi Adam. How are you today?"

"I'm great. Shelby and I have some news for you. So I'm putting the phone on speaker."

"Okay." Judy said through the phone as he pressed the button.

"I don't know how else to say this so I'm just going to come out and say it...Shelby and I are making you a grandmother."

"What?" She said excitedly. "That's great. Give me all the details. I want to know everything about my second grandchild. I hope it's a girl. That way I will have one grandson and a granddaughter."

Shelby smiled and Adam laughed. "I'll do my best Ma."

"Well, when is my grandchild due? I want to know when to plan to come there and help."

"I'm due in early November. That's all we know right now." Shelby said.

"Well, as soon as you know everything, let me know. I'm going to help you with everything." Shelby smiled. "And Adam, you take good care of her and my grand baby. You understand me?"

"Yes ma'am. I promise I will."

"Good. Then I will talk to you both later. I love you all."

"We love you too." He said as he hung up. He turned to Shelby. "Well, I knew she would be excited."

"Of course. A grandchild." Shelby smiled.

"So, have you given any thoughts to the nursery theme or names?" Whitney asked. "And what type of labor you want to have."

"Whit, relax" John laughed. "They just found out they were expecting."

"You're right. But I call dibs on throwing the baby shower."

Shelby smiled. "There is no one I would rather throw my baby shower than you."

"Thank you." She smiled.

"We better go if we're going to catch our flight." Adam said to her.

"Yeah." She smiled and got up. "We will see you in Boston." She hugged Whitney and kissed Logan on the head and headed out. John and Whitney were heading to Boston to get things ready for Logan's christening. Shelby and Adam had plans to fly to Boston a few days later to be there.

Whitney was so excited that Shelby was starting this new chapter of her life. "You know you can't hover over her. That's Adam's job." John said as he and Whitney got things ready to catch their flight.

"I know but it's hard to give up that. I've been doing it for so long."

"I know but Shelby and Adam are married and having a baby. And we have Logan to focus on. It's time to entrust Shelby to Adam."

"I do trust him. I do. It's just hard to let her go."

He sighed and hugged her. "I know. It's been just the two of you for so long. But that's changed now. Shelby has Adam and their child. We have each other and Logan. You don't have to be the strong one anymore."

She hugged him back and nodded. "Yeah. You're right. It's not just me and Shelby anymore."

"We're all one big family. Granted we're a weird bunch but hey we make it work."

She laughed. "Yeah we do. Well, let's get ready to head to Boston. We have a christening to plan." He took her hand and they headed out to catch the plane.

Shelby and Adam arrived at the airport and waited for their flight. "So when we get home, you're getting all the details right?" Adam asked her.

"Yep."

"I'm coming with you."

"I'd be pissed if you didn't." She said to him.

"I wouldn't miss anything about this pregnancy. I want to be there for the appointments, the ultrasounds, food craving. I want to help you with everything."

"Good. Because I'm nervous and excited." He smiled and took her hand.

"Everything will be good." She nodded and they boarded the plane. She rested her head on his shoulder and fell to sleep.

He smiled when he looked at her. They would soon know everything about their child. And he couldn't wait to see that first ultrasound. He couldn't wait to be a father. Finally he was getting the family he wanted. He kissed her on the forehead and rested his head on top of hers. Life was great.
