THE BIOLOGICAL CLOCK...

Disclaimer:

NCIS: Los Angeles and characters do not belong to me.

NOTE:

In this story Kensi was never sent on the classified mission and they were never separated. I started writing this before those episodes aired.

SUMMARY:

Kensi and Deeks are hanging out on another Friday after work.

"Tick tock! Tick tock! Goes Kensalina's biological clock," Deeks teased with a laugh, from the corner of the couch he was sitting on. "Oh, my God, Deeks...I swear you're the one with the biological clock running out!" Kensi yelled glaring at him.

CHAPTER 36: A PHONE CALL FOR MARTY...

A FEW HOURS LATER...

THE DOORWAY...

It had taken a while for the team to help Kensi go through the living room and kitchen helping her to decide what to keep.

There had been so many questions that Marty and Kensi ended up helping the team with the kitchen and living room, never getting to pack the bedroom or bathroom.

Now they stood in the doorway as the team left, promising to see them the next day.

Finally, Marty closed the door and turned so he was facing Kensi.

"So...do you want to finish what we started earlier on the couch before we got interrupted?" Marty asked stepping forward and letting his hands fall to her waist.

Kensi's only answer was to wrap her arms around his neck and press her lips to his.

"How about we take this to the bedroom?" Kensi suggested as she pulled back slightly after a moment.

"I like that idea, come on." Marty said as started to lead the way to her bedroom. "I guess we can pack the bathroom and my bedroom tomorrow after work." Kensi said as they walked into her bedroom.

KENSI'S BEDROOM...

"Are you trying to kill the mood, Princess? I don't want to talk about what we have to do tomorrow." Marty told her. "Just thinking about what needs to be done so we can move into our house sooner." Kensi replied.

"Is there a reason you're so anxious to move into our new house together?" Marty inquired.

"Yeah, because it would be our place together and we can start setting up everything for the baby." Kensi said as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Yeah, but then we have to still unpack everything." Marty reminded her. "Is there a time limit on when you want to have everything unpacked?" Kensi asked raising an eyebrow.

"Before this baby is born, so I would say in the next 22 weeks or so." Marty shot back with a grin as they moved closer to the bed. "Well with you being OCD that shouldn't be a problem." Kensi teased. "Hey, I can't help it if I like a clean house." Marty said with a shrug, before pressing his lips to hers.

Kensi returned the kiss with hunger and passion, at first taking Marty by surprise.

As they started to make their way toward the bed...in the distance they heard a cell phone ringing and both let out a groan, before heading back to the living room to retrieve the cell phone.

"This is Deeks..." Marty said with a sigh after they discovered it had been his cell phone ringing.

"...When...all right I'll be there soon." Marty said into the phone before hanging up and looking at Kensi.

"Who was that?" Kensi asked, already knowing because she felt a feeling of dread filling her and Marty hesitated before he finally answered.

"Bates...Kens he wants me to meet with him tonight and go undercover." Marty said and Kensi didn't want him to go. "H-how long," Kensi asked. "I don't know, Princess. He didn't want to give me any details on the phone." Marty said with a shrug.

"Don't go, Marty. If you sign the papers to become an NCIS Agent...the LAPD can't take you away again." Kensi said and Marty felt himself choking up a little at the thought of them being separated for who knew how long.

"I-I can't do that, Kensi. Being a cop is a part of..." Marty began. "NCIS is the Navy version of a cop Marty, you would still be a cop and you've said yourself that half of the LAPD hates you." Kensi pleaded and really hated the idea she was pleading with him not to go.

"Becoming an NCIS Agent is a big decision. I'll go on this assignment for Bates and then think about it, okay?" Marty asked stepping forward and leaning in to give her a gentle kiss on the lips, but Kensi pulled back before his lips met hers.

"What about us packing my house so we can get moved into our house sooner? I don't want anyone else to help me with that, Marty...I want you to help me with packing the bedroom and bathroom." Kensi told him.

"We got most of the house packed, why don't you just put everything in boxes and we can sort them at our house when I get back. Look I have to go meet with Bates now, but I'll try to make it back tonight if I can and I'll see if I can't get a little time so we can pack." Marty suggested taking Kensi's hands in his own.

"Fine, but you better go so you won't be late for your very important meeting." Kensi said taking her hands out of his, then turning so he wouldn't see the tears in her eyes and stalking off toward the bedroom slamming the door behind her.

"Kensi," Marty said as he made his way to her bedroom door and heard her crying.

It had to be the hormones, because otherwise his badass fiancee'would not be crying her eyes out at him leaving.

Marty felt torn he needed to go meet with Bates, but at the same time he wanted to tell Bates to shove the assignment and stay with Kensi.

"Just go, Marty!" Kensi yelled as Marty eased the door open and made his way into the room.

Bates would just have to wait a little longer, because right now Kensi was more important.

"Kens..." Marty said as he cautiously made his way to stand beside the bed. "Just go, Marty." Kensi repeated not looking at him. "I want you to be okay before I go." Marty said sitting down on the bed beside her and Kensi turned her face trying to glare at him.

"You want me to be okay with you going undercover with the LAPD and not knowing if you're okay or when you will be home? How do you expect me to be okay with that?" Kensi asked him.

"I know it's hard, but we've been through this before when I've had to go undercover with the LAPD and I came home then." Marty reminded her.

"I know, but how do I know you will come home okay this time?" Kensi asked him.

"Because I made you a promise...

'To not get myself killed.'

...and that's a promise I intend to keep." Marty said as he pulled her up to sit beside him.

"You can't make a promise to not get yourself killed in our line of work, Marty." Kensi said sadly. "Then I will try my best and I'll see if I can't have Bates keep Hetty updated, but if not I will be home as soon as I can. That's a promise that I will do everything I can to keep." Marty said looking into her eyes.

"You better come home, because if you are killed I will find a way to bring you back and kill you myself." Kensi threatened. "I thought you would bring me back so we could be together and raise our child together." Marty joked and Kensi glared at him.

"Don't joke about that, Marty." Kensi told him and though she had calmed down there were still tears in her eyes. "Sorry, I just wanted to see you smile before I have to go." Marty told her as he tried to smile himself.

After that they walked to the front door, then he gave her a sad smile before getting in his car and leaving.

KENSI'S LIVING ROOM...

Kensi then got some ice cream out of the freezer, before sitting down on the couch as Monty jumped up to lay down beside her, his head on her leg and looking at her with sad eyes.
