A/N: Thanks for the 400+ Reviews! Here's another chapter :)
So, some stuff happen in this chapter. I'm not sure if I want Tenzin to show up too soon, but he might show up eventually. Also, let me know what you think of this chapter. I'm getting bold, you might say :)
Also, let me know of some interactions you might want to see happen with the current characters, I'm open to suggestions and will most definitely consider them. Yeah, I might have a chapter focused on Azula and Mako eventually, it's been in the back of my mind.
"Guys, someone's coming," Toph's warning sounded from where she relaxed by a wall. One of the other occupants in the cave at the moment readied his boomerang, not at all pleased by Toph's tone. It sounded cautious, and whenever Toph sounded cautious, that was cause for concern.
Sokka acknowledged with a silent nod and readied himself next to the cave entrance but just out of sight of the would be intruders. He glanced at his younger sister who nodded herself, taking position opposite him and hovering her hand over the opening of her water satchel. Next, Sokka nodded to Mako, then gestured silently to the entrance before making quite confusing movements with his hand.
Mako made a face before shrugging in confusion.
"Get ready!" he whispered harshly.
Mako was prepared to ask what in the world all of those hand movements were for but thought better on it. Better to not waste time and just follow instructions at this point. He stepped closer to the entrance, still out of sight, prepared to back up both Katara and Sokka, while Toph waited closer to the rear, able to help from virtually anywhere in the cave.
"Heeeey. Anybody home?"
"Psst, Sokka, I know that voice!"
"You do? Who?"
"It's my brother!"
Toph stomped the ground once, shaking the surface slightly, annoyance clearly marked on her face as she broke cover.
"Oh, c'mon! If you know who it is, why are we still hiding?"
Everyone else within the cave sans Bolin shrugged, not really having an answer.
"Chief, it's fine! Mako's here!
Mako, Sokka, and Katara could hear muted grumbling before it raised slightly in volume.
"What did I tell you about walking into open spaces like that!"
Bolin scratched his head sheepishly in response to Lin's scolding, but laughed it off easily.
"Sorry, ma'am, won't happen again. But look!" Bolin jerked his head towards the group of people waiting at the entrance, who were now curious as to who she was, besides Mako.
"Ok, so apparently we have two more visitors from futureworld..." Sokka stated aloud. The water tribe boy inspected the two newcomers, Bolin watching him cautiously, and Lin looking at him disinterestedly with her arms crossed.
"Toph, what do you think?" he asked, turning around to regard the young girl standing by the wall.
"I checked, they don't seem suspicious to me."
Lin had cleared her throat distractedly upon noticing Toph's presence. Bolin half expected her to be surprised, but figured she was already prepared for it.
Mako leaned towards Bolin, so they wouldn't be overheard, keeping his voice down to a whisper. "What are you and Chief Beifong doing here?"
"Chief Beifong?" Toph parroted aloud.
Bolin sucked his teeth in dramatically and Mako wanted to facepalm.
"Bad slip up, Bro."
The War Balloon had finally neared the cave hideout that was the agreed upon spot when, to Zuko's chagrin, all hell broke loose. Everything seemed fine as they were slowly descending toward the cave opening, when Korra began to convulse violently, shocking both Zuko and Iroh II.
"What's wrong with her!?"
"I don't know!" Zuko replied quickly, seizing the Avatar by her shoulders to try and calm her down.
It was the wrong action as Korra started to swing violently, narrowly missing Zuko's face with a large stream of fire. The prince shouted in surprise as it nearly singed the newly healed side of his face, causing him to flinch backward.
"Don't touch me!" she shouted as if she was in a trance, flailing her arms in every which way, fire occasionally jetting from her clenched fists.
Iroh's eyes darted around the vehicle's basket before spotting a water canteen, quickly taking off the top and splashing it on Korra's face. He hoped nobody drank it earlier, causing it to contain backwash.
Again, this seemed like the wrong thing to do, somehow, and the Avatar closed in on herself for the second time, as if in fetal position before she shouted in agony. A bright light flash from the spot Korra was convulsing in, and it didn't die down until several seconds later.
Once the two men's vision cleared, they had to blink repeatedly, not sure if what they were seeing double.
Iroh and Zuko had the sense to jump into ready stances before the strange balloon hijacker -who looked strangely like the unconsious Korra lying nearby- snapped her foot forward in a motion reminiscent of kicking down a door.
The metallic engine containing the heat for the balloon crumpled in on itself, launching towards Zuko and his descendant, who both launched themselves to opposite walls of the basket to avoid getting pancaked by the now careening engine.
Quickly going through the motions, Iroh launched a low charged blast of electricity, hoping to catch the Korra Look-alike off guard. To his mild surprise he actually did catch her off guard, before she punched forward with her unparalyzed arm. The gout of flame was large enough for him to raise his arms to block and cancel out the advance before he lowered his hands.
The look alike was gone.
Iroh turned towards Zuko, who was already looking over the balloon's basket, trying to spot the attacker.
"I can't find her. Who the heck was that!?"
Iroh didn't have an answer, as he was just as confused. He glanced over at the Avatar, who was still unconscious, but a lot more calm and breathing evenly.
What was that, indeed. That couldn't have been some drawn out hallucination. Zuko had seen it too. So what possible explanation was there for what just happened?
"Hopefully Avatar Aang can help us," Iroh muttered, his index finger's knuckle under his chin in thought.
