(About two months have gone by now. Steve and Rory have adjusted into the new house quite nicely. Finn, along with Logan and Rory were all spending more time together taking a few photo classes to improve their skills and were getting along rather well)
(At the moment, Rory had just got ten out of the bathroom and is now getting dressed, her boyfriend walks up behind her and gives her a brief kiss on the neck)
"Hey handsome, what's up?"-Rory
"I brought coffee with a hint of cinnamon in it for you while you get dressed for the day ahead."-Steve
"And."-Rory
"And what?"-Steve
"Honey, you are fidgeting which isn't something you normally do. What's up?"-Rory
(bends down on one knee, while Rory just stops breathing for a second)
"Steve."-Rory
"Now, Rory please hear me out this may seem a bit clichéd considering you are standing in our bedroom with only a towel on and I am in a pair of jeans and a button up shirt. But this moment right here when we are at our best was the perfect time to do this."-Steve
"But"-Rory
"And I know that we talked about this a few months ago and said that we both were happy with the way our relationship was. Believe me, I am but I would be honored. (he chokes up a little bit). Rory, you got me to believe in love again, to have faith in another human being to care, support, and inspire me when I truly didn't think that it was possible. I want us to get married, to raise Noah together, I want us to remodel, to expand to become even better than before in our businesses as well as our lives. I want to spend the rest of my days working with you, and every night falling asleep with you by my side. Will you, Rory do me the honor and become my wife?"-Steve
(she had started crying at this point. Over the past few months she had noticed that more and more she thought about marrying this man but wasn't sure how to broach the topic with him, so she was rather pleased that he had wanted the same thing)
"Yes, yes of course I will marry you, Steve"-Rory
(he gets up and hugs her before slipping the single sapphire sterling silver engagement band onto her finger)
"Do you wish to call off for today or still go in?"-Rory
"I actually planned on going in but wish for you to come with me my dear. Do you mind?"-Steve
"Not at all! Just let me put something on before heading out."-Rory
"Of course, I'll be in the kitchen getting the rest of the stuff ready for us. See you shortly."-Steve (kisses her briefly before heading out and calling the guys to get the stuff set up at the pub that they frequented mainly for the food not the drinking purposes as they did have a recovering alcoholic in the midst)
(Rory finally decided on a slightly fancy sundress, put a hint of make up on and did her hair up in a fancy side bun before heading out of their bedroom to see what her now finance thought of her look.)
"What do you think honey?"-Rory
(looks up and is momentarily rendered speechless by the look of his soon to be wife)
"You look. Wow I knew you were beautiful but seriously you look breath taking today."-Steve
(blushes) "Thanks, are you ready to head out?"-Rory
"Yeah, everything is all set in the car ready to go. Shall we?"-Steve
"We shall."-Rory
(the two of them head out to the pub. The only one who didn't know about the engagement being the reasoning behind the get together was Finn. No one was really sure what was the best way to break it to him that his ex fiancé for almost five years was about to marry his used to be best friend. The drive takes about ten minutes so they made it, and had just walked inside. Rory was rather surprised to see her favorite people there as well as the area decked out in decorations for the event)
"Steve, how did you pull this off? It's stunning."-Rory
"Thanks, I am glad that you like it! I had a bit of help with everyone here. However, there is one final person who is on his way that needs to be informed of our change in label for our relationship."-Steve
(before a fight can be started however, Logan, Stephanie and Colin offer their congratulations to the newly engaged couple)
"Do you know what kind of dress you want yet, Rory?"-Stephanie
(she laughs) "You act as if I'm been engaged for months not merely a few hours. I thought that at some point we could check out Kleinfeld's or the Vera Wang store at some point. And of you course you are more than welcome to come with you!"-Rory
(hugs in in excitement) "Thank you. I know that with you and Finn you were happy but I think that you and Steve are wonderful for one another. You both are pushing one another to be better at everything in life but not in a nagging kind of way you know? I'm just, I'm really happy that he finally did this is all. Congrats hun."-Stephanie
"Thank you. I am rather excited as well. I wasn't sure at first that I wanted to get married but I am happy that we are taking this plunge together."-Rory
"It's about damn time you asked her man."-Colin
"Seriously, Colin. We were rather content with the label on our relationship it wasn't until recently that I noticed myself wanting more and more to change it and spend the rest of my life with her. I am just glad that the three of you were able to help me pull this off."-Steve
"How do you think that Finn is going to handle it?"-Logan
(they all stay silent for a few minutes and while they are the very person in question walks through the door)
"So, I heard that congratulations were in order but no one informed me as for what."-Finn
(everyone but Finn and Rory had cleared out of the room. Steve and her had discussed earlier that she would be the one to break the news to her ex fiancé)
"Finn, maybe you and I should grab a cup sit at a table. There is something I need to tell you."-Rory
"If you and Steve are getting married you could have told me this over the phone not hiding it like you think it went send me over the age and back to drinking."-Finn
(shocked) "How did you know?"-Rory
"Rory, we were together for almost five years lived together for two of them. I am bound to know when you trying to hide something from me."-Finn
(laughs a little bit) "Fair enough point there. Look, Finn. I know that it may seem sudden he and I have only been together for a little bit over a year now but."-Rory
(puts his hand up to stop her) "Why do you feel the need to justify this to me. If you are not prepared to be with you then you need to let him know sooner rather than later."-Finn
"It's not that, Finn"-Rory
"Then what is it, please just discuss it with me."-Finn
"I will admit that I thought more and more about getting married to him over the past few months but I think that it has more to do with my condition combined with a strong desire to share a life with him but. It doesn't make sense at the time. A part of me however small still feels like it should have been you and me walking down that aisle."-Rory
(cutting in her speech because the Gilmore's tend to ramble with the best of them) "What condition?"-Finn
(looks down at her hands)
(he starts to actually get nervous) "Are you pregnant?"-Finn
"No of course not. You know that you were the only one that I wanted to have children with, Finn."-Rory
"Then please inform me as to what is going on?"-Finn
"I haven't even told, Steve this so please don't discuss this with anyone else. But I went to the doctor earlier this month to find out why I have been feeling under the weather as of late."- Rory
"And?"-Finn
"I found out that I have stage two breast cancer, also known as T2, N1, MO."-Rory
(his face had considerably gotten a few shades whiter than his usual tan, but was trying to stay calm for her sake) "Which means what exactly?"-Finn
"Simply put that the doctor found a lump that was four cm and was found in the lymph nods as well."-Rory
"Why are you telling me this? Why not tell the guy that you are about to married? Rory, this isn't"-Finn
"I told you because telling Steve isn't the best idea. You know that."-Rory
"Still. What do you expect me to do. You and I are still in a way trying to figure out how to interact with one another. (then a realaztion hits him) Did you tell me because you knew that no matter what I would still drive you to treatments, do anything to see you get better. Because you want to in an odd still fix our friendship the best way you know how."-Finn
"That is a part of it yes, but at the same time I can't stand the idea of Steve looking at me from now on and just seeing cancer. Just seeing the pity in his eyes. I can't deal with that right now. If that makes any sense at all."-Rory
"It does make perfect sense. However, he would see so much more than just cancer when he sees you."-Finn
"How do you know that?"-Rory
(the others finally came back into the room figuring that they had given the two more than enough time to discuss the situation. Her new fiancé walks up to her and gives her a swift kiss)
"So, are you okay with the new development in this relationship, Finn?"-Steve
(looks at Rory who can clearly see that he isn't okay with the news of her declining health, but okay with her new engagement.)
"Steve, congratulations on the engagement. I hate to arrive then head out so soon but I do have a few errands to run. Rory call me whenever you need me alright?"-Finn
"Sure thing. Thanks for listening. See you around."-Rory
"Nice seeing you, thanks for coming! Bye"-Steve
(he leaves, the others continue with the party for a few more hours and the newly labeled couple arrives back at their house around six o clock in the evening. They are in the bedroom changing into more comfortable clothes for the evening)
"Thanks for setting up that party sweet heart. It was rather entertaining."-Rory
"Anything for you my dear. O, I also have a bit more news for you."-Steve
(her breath hitches a bit, instantly thinking that he figured out the news that she had shared with Finn, but relaxes when the tone of voice isn't so serious)
"I talked to Robin the other day."-Steve
"Robin at Beyond."-Rory
"Yes."-Steve
(nods for him to continue) "Anyway, I talked to her and decided to stop working there. Now before you start having a panic attack think about it really think about it. Mr. Huntzberger has given us more than enough money to last for a rather long amount of time as well as your earnings from the books. We now have a net worth of well over 25 million. I won't be completely without a job, I will still be at Flawless in order to help you guys out. The clients will still pay me for the services as well. What do you think now?"-Steve
"What about Heavenly? Did you leave that location as well?"-Rory
(looks down at the floor and Rory can't help the anger that comes boiling out of her)
