Chapter Thirty-Seven:

Mackenzie pounding on the door she hoped belonged to Sookie. If not, she wasn't even worried about waking up a vampire. Hell, all the vampires in this entire hotel could wake up and wonder why she was absolutely bat shit crazy and she just did not care. She just needed to talk to Sookie, and she needed to talk to her now.

"Mackenzie?" Sookie questioned before even pulling the door open. Mackenzie plowed into the room, not even giving the telepath a moment to move to the side. "Is everything okay? Are you alright?"

"I really really need to talk to you," Mackenzie's gaze fell on the sleeping vampire in the bed across from them. "Oh. I uh, I didn't realize…"

"It's okay, he's asleep," Sookie assured, turning the girl around to get a good look at her. She looked both frightened and confused, but most of all desperate. "What's wrong, hun? You look like you've just seen a ghost."

Mackenzie chewed on her bottom lip, gazing at the now closed hotel room door, as if expecting Godric to burst right through it. But he didn't. He hadn't even followed her. She didn't think anyways. Not even the distance between them, however, could calm her.

"Hey, it's alright," Sookie wrapped an arm around her shoulders as she began to shake. "What happened?"

"Can we talk somewhere private?" she begged in a small voice.

"Come on," Sookie led her towards the large bathroom, closing and locking the door behind them. It was the best they could get at the moment, but it seemed to have helped Mackenzie's shaking form even just the slightest. "Now tell me what's wrong."

"I…" Mackenzie didn't know where to begin. She hadn't planned what she was going to say or ask of Sookie. She had just panicked and turned to the only person she could think of. Sookie had been there for her in a way she never thought possible. She had put herself in danger just for a stranger she barely knew. Mackenzie felt like she could trust her with anything after the ordeal they had only just gone through. "I don't know where to start,"

"How about the beginning?" Sookie filled a glass with water and offered it to her. "Did something happen with Eric?"

Mackenzie shook her head as she accepted the water, though her hands were still shaking as she raised it to her lips. She swallowed the entire contents of the glass in seconds before setting it down on the counter. She inhaled sharply, searching for the words before beginning.

"It's not Eric."

"Godric?" Sookie's eyebrows furrowed. "Something happened with Godric?"

"I…I started to…" how could she even tell someone about her dreams? How could she even speak about them out loud? It was just wrong. Sookie was likely going to think she was a nut case and a pervert.

"Hey, it's okay," the telepath pushed her down onto the edge of the bathtub as tears sprang in the girl's eyes. "Whatever it is, it's okay, Mackenzie."

"But it's not okay!" Mackenzie shook her head as she began to hyperventilate. "It's not okay at all!"

"What isn't okay?"

"I-I've had these…god I don't even know!" she hated herself. She hated her stupid mind for doing this to her. How could it betray her like this? Dreams of Godric were just not okay.

"Just take it slow," Sookie encouraged, rubbing her back soothingly. "Whatever it is, it will be okay, Mackenzie. I promise. We'll figure it out."

But could it be figured out? Could this fix what her dreams had done to her? Mackenzie wasn't so sure she could forget the way his fingers had moved against her body or the feel of his lips on her neck.

"Here," Sookie suggested, taking the girl's shaking hands in her own. "You don't have to say anything."

Mackenzie glanced at her in confusion, but let the woman take her hands captive anyways. She was not, however, expecting a gasp of surprise from the telepath and for her eyes to grow as wide as saucers.

"Oh!" Sookie's mouth fell open in shock. She had watched, in better detail than she had ever cared for, exactly what had rattled Mackenzie so much. "Oh."

"Oh?" Mackenzie frowned, tugging her hands free. "What do you mean oh?" it took her a moment before realizing what Sookie had just done. "You read my mind!"

"I'm sorry," Sookie apologized hurriedly. "I just thought it might be easier than for you to say it out loud. And wow."

Mortified, Mackenzie hid her face with her hands, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. It was bad enough that she could barely even force the words out, but to know that Sookie had seen in great detail the same dream she had only just woken up from, it was humiliating. As she peeked through her fingers, Mackenzie could already see the telepath judging her. She probably thought she was some perverted teenager with uncontrollable hormones. Hell, she probably was!

"Oh, Mackenzie," Sookie chuckled softly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I don't think you're a perverted hormonal teenager at all."

"You did it again!" she tried to pull away, but Sookie kept her in place.

"Sorry," she didn't seem all that sorry to Mackenzie however, a smile plastered across her lips. "I don't judge you, Mackenzie. Heck, I completely understand."

"You understand?" how could Sookie possibly understand? She was having dreams about the man she had always looked up to. There was nothing to understand except disgust.

"I used to have dreams of Bill. They were a bit overwhelming at first, but you get used to them," she assured with a shrug.

Mackenzie's eyes widened in horror. She really did not need to know what Sookie dreamed about. Especially if it included the vampire that was currently dead to the world in the other room.

Sookie giggled at Mackenzie's reaction. "I probably shouldn't have told you that. But it's perfectly normal, Mackenzie. You did have a lot of Godric's blood, after all."

Mackenzie froze. What did Godric's blood have to do with this? "What?"

The telepath raised an eyebrow. "He gave you a lot in the basement, didn't you know?"

"Well yeah, he told me he gave his blood to heal me," Mackenzie nodded slowly. She didn't understand why that even mattered right now. There were more important matters at hand. "But I don't know what this has to do with embarrassing inappropriate dreams."

Sookie was surprised Mackenzie didn't know. Had Godric not told her about the side effects at all? She thought perhaps the ancient vampire didn't know, but she quickly shook her head at the thought. Godric was over two thousand years old; he would know the effects vampire blood had on humans.

"Why do you have that look on your face?" Mackenzie questioned suspiciously. She didn't like the look Sookie was wearing, like there was some loop she was being left out of. What didn't she know?

"I'm just surprised is all," Sookie admitted, chewing on her bottom lip as she chose how to proceed. If Godric hadn't told her, there must have been a reason. But at the same time, could she really just sit there and let Mackenzie think this was entirely her fault, that these dreams were some sick concoction of hers? She wasn't sure that she could. "I'm surprised Godric didn't tell you."

"Tell me about what?" Mackenzie was growing agitated now. There was something going on, something that was not being said and she didn't like it one bit. She was too used to having secrets being kept. For eight years of her life she didn't know that her guardians were vampire. For fourteen years, and still ongoing, she didn't know what had happened that night Eric had brought her home. Hell, she hadn't even known there was a single member of her biological family alive until they had kidnapped her. All the secrets were beginning to mount and it was infuriating her. She just wanted someone to tell her the truth for once. "Something's going on, isn't there?"

Sookie sighed as she weighed her options. Godric was keeping this from her for a reason. But she didn't understand why he was doing this. Wasn't it obvious that Mackenzie was feeling the effects? Didn't Godric want to soothe her worries? She had seen the way the vampire looked at Mackenzie like she was his entire world. Why hadn't he stopped her from rushing to her room when he could have comforted her himself.

It was then that realization dawned.

He couldn't comfort her because he was just as confused as Mackenzie was. He knew completely about the dreams, that wasn't the issue. He knew why she was so rattled, why she was so startled by them. He knew the effects his blood was having on her. And Sookie was beginning to think that he enjoyed her dreaming about him.

And she wasn't surprised one bit.

Stifling another giggle at the new information, she tried to offer Mackenzie as much comfort as she could. The teen deserved to know about the side effects, and while she hated to be the one to break the news to her, she couldn't just let Mackenzie go around thinking this as her fault. Maybe she would try and talk to Godric about this later, try to urge him to come clean to her. Maybe even advise him that he shouldn't be afraid of what he might feel towards Mackenzie. Sure Godric had helped raised her for part of her life, and Sookie could understand both of their hesitance, but she really did seem to be his whole world. And by the way Mackenzie was freaking out, she knew he was just as important to her.

Maybe it was just time for that importance to shift a little.

"Sookie? What's going on? Something's going on, isn't there?" Mackenzie demanded, not liking the look on Sookie's face at all.

"Godric really should have told you," she admitted before taking Mackenzie's hands again. She tried to tug them away, afraid the woman would read her thoughts and know that she still, even in that moment of horror, couldn't forget the way his fingers moved on her skin. She did not want to see the same disgust she felt written all over her face. "I'm not going to read your mind. I promise, Mackenzie."

Mackenzie didn't relax, however, her eyes narrowing as she glared at the giggling telepath. "Then what's going on? What should Godric have told me?"

"Did he mention anything at all about a blood bond?"

"No," she shook her head, only to stop as she remembered something Pam had said. "Pam brought up something like that though. I thought she was just teasing me. She was asking if I felt any differently and wouldn't stop bringing up Godric."

Sookie had to try very hard not to smirk at Pam's persistence. Maybe she should have a chat with the usually annoying vampire. She snorted immediately at the idea. Yeah, when hell froze over would she ever sit down for tea with Pam and chitchat over her gran-maker.

"Sookie," Mackenzie was growing impatient. "She wasn't just teasing me, was she?"

"Leave it to Pam," Sookie rolled her eyes but shook her head. "No, she wasn't just teasing you."

"So then what does it mean? What's a blood bond? Is that because Godric gave me his blood?"

"Yes," Sookie began. "It healed you, like you said. But Godric apparently left some parts out."

"Like what?"

"Well, for starters, you'll probably feel a bit different for a little while. I didn't need foundation for an entire month. And I can still see in the dark pretty well without needing any light." She explained.

Mackenzie's eyebrows furrowed together as she tried to think of anything different that had happened to her. She hadn't really looked in any mirrors lately, too preoccupied with everything else. Hell, she still looked like a mess from the bombing. She wouldn't have noticed anything odd with her complexion. But she had noticed she could see better in the dark. If Godric hadn't of put the light on in the room earlier, she was certain she would have figured out he was there anyways.

"I'm guessing you've experienced a bit of that," Sookie guessed from how hard the girl was thinking. "Your senses will be enhanced, you know like hearing and smelling, and obviously your sight."

"That doesn't sound too bad," Mackenzie admitted.

"There's also your libido," Sookie had to hesitate before continuing. They were trekking over unstable waters now. "It enhances as well."

"Libido," Mackenzie spoke the word for the first time, her nose instantly scrunching up. "You mean my sex drive? Are you trying to tell me my sex drive enhances because of his blood?"

Sookie couldn't help but blush. She still wasn't used to talking about it herself. It hadn't been all that long ago that she was having this conversation with Bill and feeling appalled about the fact. Now she was thankfully used to the idea of his blood and the effects, but she certainly understood Mackenzie's reaction.

It was then that all the pieces fell into place for Mackenzie. The girl jumped to her feet, her eyes widening as she backed away. "Oh god, oh god, oh god."

"Mackenzie?" Sookie stood and reached out for her, not wanting her to dart away. She had only run from Godric it seemed; she didn't want Mackenzie to run away from her too and possibly straight into danger.

"These dreams, it's because of his blood, isn't it?" she was breathing heavily, her heart racing in her chest as realized the reason for these dreams. "The blood is making me dream about him."

Sookie nodded in confirmation. She couldn't just lie to her. "It is."

"Oh god!" Mackenzie's hand slapped over her mouth in horror. A part of her was relieved that it wasn't just her mind playing sick games on her. But at the same time, she was horrified to know that it was Godric's attempt at saving her life that had caused this. "Oh my god!"

"Hey, it's okay," Sookie tried to comfort her. "At least you know now, right?"

"But I…I still…" it didn't change the fact that she was still having these dreams; dreams that she never ever should have had. Blood or no blood, it was still wrong. "Oh god, I still had the dreams!"

"But it's not your fault," Sookie reasoned. "You can't help it. Believe me, I've tried. They just happen, Mackenzie."

"Do they…do they ever go away?" she asked hopefully. Maybe in a few days the dreams would disappear and everything could go back to normal.

Sookie wasn't sure how to answer her. She still had the occasional dream about Bill, but they weren't as constant as they were after she was first given his blood. Bill, however, was still such a young vampire compared to Godric. And he had given Mackenzie a good amount of his blood. She honestly didn't know.

"I'm not sure," Sookie admitted. "It could just be for a little while, maybe a few days. But it also might, well, last."

"Last for how long?"

"Awhile."

"Oh god!" Mackenzie was pacing now, unable to keep still. "Oh god why is this happening? This wasn't supposed to happen. I'm not supposed to be dreaming about him! He's my…he's my…oh god this is so not okay!"

Sookie felt terrible for the girl. Godric really needed to talk to her.

"Is there anything else?" Mackenzie suddenly stopped and turned to the telepath. "Is there anything else that his blood is doing to me?"

She had a feeling Mackenzie wasn't going to like what else she had to say. "There's just one little thing."

"What?" Mackenzie demanded to know. "What else?"

"He'll be able to feel you, like your emotions. As far as I know, that never really goes away. It'll lessen, after awhile depending, but it'll always be there." Sookie cringed at the look of shock that crossed Mackenzie's face. "He'll always be able to find you wherever you are. Not that that's always a bad thing, especially if you're in trouble."

Mackenzie looked like a deer caught in headlights. "D-does that mean he knows?"

"Knows?"

"About the dreams. Does that mean he knows when I have one, if he can feel me?" she asked barely above a whisper.

"Yes."

"Oh god!" Mackenzie choked back a whimper. "Oh god he totally knew why I was freaking out! He knew the entire time! Oh god! How the hell am I ever supposed to look at him again?"

"He likely understands, Mackenzie."

"Why didn't he say anything?" she questioned. "Why didn't he damn well do something if he knew?"

Sookie shrugged; she honestly had no idea. "He was probably worried."

"Worried? He was worried?" Mackenzie didn't know what to think. She felt absolutely humiliated that Godric had been standing there, trying to comfort her, all while knowing exactly what she had been dreaming about. He had known everything she had felt, right down to the sheer pleasure. She had never been more embarrassed before in her life.

But at the same time, she could feel a hint of rage brewing inside of her. How could Godric not have told her? How could he have kept this a secret? This wasn't something to hide. Not when she was freaking out over something she couldn't help. He was supposed to be there for her, he was supposed to comfort her. He wasn't damn well supposed to let her think she was crazy!

"Oh I'm going to kill him!" she surprised Sookie when she twisted around and threw the bathroom door open.

Sookie's eyes widened as she shot after the girl, not liking the thoughts that were going through her head. "Mackenzie, wait."

"I'm going to murder him!" she shook her head. "How could he not have told me? How could he lie to me like this?"

"He didn't exactly lie," the telepath tried to stop her before she could dash out the door. "Mackenzie, maybe you should just calm down and talk to him later," she was certain angrily barging into the room wasn't going to solve anything between her and Godric, and instead only make things worse. "He was probably just trying to find the right way to tell you."

"I don't care," Mackenzie spat, letting the anger consume her. It was easier to feel anger, to feel absolute furious at the vampire, than to think about the horrifying dreams. Anger was much better, considering the alternative. "I'm going to kill him for this," she pushed passed Sookie and yanked the door open, darting across the hallway and to the elevator. When it didn't come quick enough, she turned and stormed to the stairwell, stomping up the stairs without uttering another word.

Sookie sighed as she glanced over at the sleeping Bill before hurrying after Mackenzie. She sure as hell wasn't going to let the teen do this herself.

Eric watched his maker pace the length of the hotel room with a frown. He had woken to find Mackenzie was no longer beside him and he grew worried. Now, watching his maker and feeling his concern, Eric began to fear something had happened.

"Where's Mackenzie?" Eric questioned, stepping out of the bedroom and sending his maker a questioning glance. "She's not in her room. Is she…"

"She's with Sookie," Godric informed, though his pacing only seemed to increase at Eric's presence. He was barely visible now, only a vampire of Eric's age able to keep up with his quick pacing.

"And she is fine?"

Godric wasn't certain how to answer his question. Was Mackenzie fine? No, Godric knew that she was not. He could feel every single little thing that she was feeling, and she was certainly not fine. And neither was he. She was all he could think about, and he knew that it was wrong. He knew he shouldn't wonder what she had dreamed. He knew he shouldn't want to ask what exactly had transpired between them while she was asleep. But he did. He wanted to know what had caused that pleasure, and he couldn't stop the thought from crossing his mind.

He hated himself for it.

"Godric?" Eric's panic swept through him, bringing him to a sudden stop.

Godric sighed as he rubbed the bridge of his nose, shaking his head at his son. "Mackenzie is perfectly fine, Eric. She simply needed a few hours with human companionship. I wasn't expecting you to be awake so early or I never would have let her leave."

"But she is safe? You know now for certain," It was the first time he had spoken of the bond that his maker now shared with Mackenzie, and it caused him to cringe. He didn't want to think about his maker and daughter being bonded by blood. That was the last thing he wanted to think about. The only positive that had come from this situation was that Godric would now know should she ever be in trouble.

Eric only hoped that would be where the bond stopped.

"She is safe, Eric. I swear," Godric assured.

"Then why are you so concerned?" Eric's eyebrows furrowed. His arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the back of the couch. There was a forgotten blanket hanging off the cushions and he wondered if this was where Mackenzie had slipped out of bed to earlier. He had felt the shift beside him, heard the scream that escaped her lips. But he had been too weak to wake and comfort her.

"She was…frazzled when she woke," Godric chose his words carefully. Eric would not approve that Mackenzie was having dreams of him, or the fact that Godric hadn't been able to stop thinking about them.

"I heard her screaming earlier, but couldn't wake. I assume she's been having nightmares," Eric guessed, accepting his explanation. She had been stricken with nightmares after he had first brought her home fourteen years ago. They were always about the fire, though she couldn't make sense of them. She was too young too even care. He wondered if they were the same nightmares, if being taken by her family and questioned of that night had dug those dreams back up. It was just another reason he desperately wanted to find them and rip them to pieces.

They would never harm his Mackenzie again.

"She has," Godric sighed, glad for the distraction. Focusing on Mackenzie's nightmares rather than her dreams was needed for his sanity. "She hasn't told me about them, however. I assume they have something to do with her family,"

Eric frowned as he thought of her persistent questioning of her parents. "She wants to know what happened that night."

"I know, she's questioned Pam and I. You need to tell her, Eric. I know this is difficult, but she deserves to know."

"I know," Eric sighed heavily, running his fingers through his hair. "She won't leave me the hell alone about it. But how am I supposed to tell her, Godric? How am I supposed to do that to her?"

"You know her aunt likely has planted her seeds. She deserves the truth," Godric pointed out. "I could tell her what I know, but this is a tale that you need to tell, my son. She needs to know what happened that night. She needs to know of the monsters that were her parents. She may hate us for telling her, but for her own peace of mind, she needs to know."

Eric knew his maker was right. He knew he needed to tell Mackenzie about her parents, about that night fourteen years ago. But the thought of destroying her with the information, it killed him. She had gone through enough in the last few days. She had been through hell in the last few months. He needed more time. He needed her to be happy, just for a little while. And only then maybe he could find it in himself to break her heart.

"Not yet," Eric stated firmly. "I'll tell her, but I need more time. She needs more time. She's been through enough."

"I agree," Godric knew Mackenzie would not like it, but she had endured too much in the last few months. She had been sick for so long, only to be kidnapped by a family she never knew about that had tortured her for reasons she didn't even understand. She deserved happiness, not another ounce of pain.

Eric was surprised but was glad of his maker's support. He was going to ask what they were going to do about her family when the hotel room door suddenly slammed open. Both vampires twisted around, fangs withdrawn with a sharp click as they prepared for battle. It was only Mackenzie however, with Sookie skidding to a stop with an anxious expression on her face.

"You!" she stormed into the room, her cheeks red with fury as she pointed accusingly at Godric. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

Godric's eyebrows lifted in surprised as he retracted his fangs. "Mackenzie?" he couldn't understand the vast amount of emotions that were swirling inside of her. They were beginning to give him a headache, if that were even possible.

"Why the hell didn't you tell me?" she was breathing heavily as she glared at him, ignoring the other occupants in the room.

Sookie quietly slipped inside, closing the door behind her as she shot Eric an apologetic glance. She had tried to stop Mackenzie from storming in here and going at it with Godric, but Mackenzie's mind had been made up. The teen was furious, and Sookie had a feeling she had inherited her temper from a certain Viking.

"What happened?" Eric question, retracting his own fangs as he questioned Sookie.

"What happened?" Mackenzie bellowed. "What happened you ask? What happened is that your asshole of a maker forgot to mention this little thing called a blood bond and it's stupid side effects!"

Godric swallowed hard as he glanced over Mackenzie's shoulder to where Sookie stood. She squeaked as she felt the ancient orbs boring right through her and bowed her head. "I assume Miss Stackhouse informed you of this," his tone was ice cold and sent a shiver down Sookie's spine.

"Don't be an ass to her because you were a jerk and didn't tell me," Mackenzie rounded on him, stepping in front of Sookie. "I didn't even know what the hell she was talking about at first. Because oh yeah, you just happened to leave it all out!"

"Mackenzie, I…" he had not wanted it to happen this way. He had not expected her to go running to someone else and discover what her dreams meant. He should have, however, realized that Mackenzie rushing off to Sookie meant that she might learn the truth.

"Don't Mackenzie me," she snapped. "How could you not tell me, Godric? How could you keep this from me? I thought I've been going crazy!"

"Mackenzie, I'm…"

"What the hell is wrong with you? How could you just leave all this out? All you told me was that vampire blood could heal. That's all," she was furious. She couldn't believe Godric had lied to her. How could he have not told her about the bond they now shared? How could he think that wasn't something she deserved to know?

Godric sighed as he took a step towards her, only for Mackenzie to jump back, keeping the distance between them.

"How could you, Godric? How could you not tell me?"

"I'm sorry, Mackenzie. I wasn't sure your reaction and I…"

McKenzie snorted. "You were afraid I was going to get mad? Are you fucking serious right now? I'm able to see in the dark, Godric. You can now feel me. I think that's something I should know about. Don't even get me started on the dreams!"

Eric and Godric both froze, Sookie wincing behind Mackenzie. Not a single word was uttered as Godric stared wide-eyed at Mackenzie. Eric, at first, hadn't thought he heard right. A small part of him had been amused at Mackenzie's anger towards his maker. Usually it was he who was getting yelled at, he who was at the other end of her mood swings. But for once, it was Godric, her precious Godric.

But the moment that one word slipped out of her mouth, his smirk had been wiped from his face. He saw red. Dreams? She had been having dreams? He had given plenty of humans his blood to know which dreams she was speaking of. And it enraged him. His hands curled into tight fists as he glared between the two. The last thing he had wanted was this blood bond to occur. It had saved Mackenzie's life, and he was grateful, but the mere thought that his Mackenzie was having dreams of anyone, not to mention his maker, it disturbed him. She was not supposed to have those thoughts. He forbid it.

"No," Eric growled, breaking the silence.

Mackenzie shot him a look of confusion, but the moment she saw the anger spilling off of him, she realized what she had said. "Oh god!"

Godric didn't know what to do. He was taken back by her outbursts, of her admittance to the dreams. She had been so horrified, so confused earlier, that he had half expected her to never look him in the eye again. But there she was, angry and accusing him of lying to her instead of being embarrassed. While he could still feel the humiliation inside of the girl, he was almost impressed by the turn of events.

That, however, did not change the fact that he could feel the unleashed anger of his child. He risked a glance at Eric and grimaced at what he found. This was why he had been hoping Eric would never discover Mackenzie's dreams. Even without a bond to tell him how he felt, Godric could see the rage inside of the Viking.

"Eric," he began, wanting to ease his anger before it consumed him completely.

"Don't you even think about getting sidetracked!" Mackenzie snapped, his head whipping back towards her. "Why the hell didn't you tell me? Why did you lie to me?"

"I didn't lie to you," he hadn't, not really. He had simply chose not to tell her everything about their new bond. He had planned to. He would have in the future. But she was already dealing with so much; he couldn't place anything more on her already weighed down shoulders.

"You sure as hell did, Godric!"

"I was going to tell you," he sighed. "I wasn't sure how to…"

"You weren't sure how to tell me that I'm going to have friggin sex dreams about you? Well congratulations, Godric, I know all about them!" she didn't even know what she was saying any longer. The words were just blurting out, the fury inside of her taking over.

A growl sounded from Eric, stealing Godric's attention once again. Eric looked ready to attack. Godric had never seen his own child look at him with so much hatred before in his life.

"Eric, you must remain calm."

"Stop ignoring me, Godric!" Mackenzie stomped her foot childishly.

Something snapped inside of Godric as he continued to stare at his child instead of Mackenzie. He could feel his own anger begin to brew, the beast he had kept trapped deep inside of himself beginning to claw it's way to the forefront. "Do not raise your voice at me, Mackenzie."

"Why didn't you tell me about this? Why did you hide this from me?" She demanded. "How could you? I have these dreams, Godric, dreams that I was going crazy over. That is not okay. None of this stupid blood bond is okay!"

Mackenzie yelped in surprise, jumping as Godric suddenly appeared before her. His fangs extended with a sharp click as her breath was caught in her throat. She had never seen him so enraged before, so furious. And every ounce of that anger was directed towards her. It had always been Eric who had lost his temper, Eric who would flash his fangs and threaten her. But in that moment, Eric seemed like a mild little puppy. For the first time in her life, she was seeing a glimpse of the beast within her sweet and caring friend.

"I will not apologize for giving you my blood," he hissed, stepping even closer. She wanted to step away, to put distance between them, but she found herself rooted to the ground. "I will not apologize for saving your life."

"But you…"

As the growl sounded from the back of his throat, Mackenzie's lips immediately pressed together. "You can be angry with me all you wish, Mackenzie, but I do not regret giving you my blood. Nor will I ever regret doing such."

She wanted to retort back that it wasn't the fact that he had given her his blood, it was that he had lied to her about the side effects. But the feral look in his eyes stopped her before she uttered even a word. He had hardly ever been angry with her when she was a child. He was always the kind, gentle one. He was the one she would run to when Eric lost his temper, or when she was scared of the monsters under her bed. Even when she misbehaved, he never raised his voice. He would just calmly send her to her bedroom.

But in that moment, Godric was furious with her. As she spied Eric out the corner of her eye, she couldn't decide which vampire was currently angrier. She began to feel apprehensive, not used to both of them being angry at the same time. She was always used to one being her shoulder to cry on.

"You may continue to act like a child, Mackenzie, but know that I will never be sorry for what I did. You can be angry with me, you can hate me, but I will never regret how I reacted in that church,"

She tried to look away, hating the berating tone he was using, but Godric grasped onto her chin tightly and forced her gaze to remain on is.

"And you are acting like a bratty little child," his orbs narrowed.

"You lied to me," she blurted out in defence. When she realized that she had spoken, her eyes grew as wide as saucers and she quickly clamped her mouth shut. Anther growl sounded from Godric as he towered over her, his fangs looking much sharper than she remembered. Her heart was racing in her chest, pounding painfully as she stared into those dark orbs. They were no longer the vast sea of blue that could chase all of her fears away. No, those were eyes that instilled fear into her.

"I am sorry, however, that you are forced to endure terrible dreams that seem to disgust you. I apologize for forcing such a thing upon you while saving your life," he ended with a hiss.

She was shaking from head to toe as his grip tightened on her chip ever so slightly before his hand suddenly dropped away, the vampire taking a small step back. Mackenzie let out a shaky breath she hadn't even realized she had been holding, though she was still wary of the ancient vampire. All she could stare at were those fangs.

Godric could feel her wariness and retracted his fangs, though his lips were quick to form a thin line. "I will not apologize for keeping this from you. I was trying to be mindful of the fact that you were just kidnapped and nearly taken from us. I will also never apologize for doing everything in my power not to lose you, is that understood?" when she didn't respond, another growl sounded and she quickly nodded her head. "Good."

With that, he brushed passed her and to the door, throwing it open before storming out. Mackenzie and Sookie both jumped as it was slammed shut behind him, both sharing looks of uncertainty. One furious vampire may have left, but the fury was still raging inside of Eric.

"Eric…" Mackenzie began in a small voice. She didn't understand why Eric was so angry and she was worried. This wasn't how things were supposed to be. Things were supposed to be better. They were supposed to be a family. But anytime she saw a glimpse of that, it would be snatched back away and everything would go back to how it's always been. And she hated it.

"It will not happen again," Eric turned his blazing orbs on the teen.

"W-what?" her eyebrows furrowed.

"You will not have another…dream," he forced out through clenched teeth. Just to say the word only angered him more. "You will not think that away about my maker again."

"Er…" Mackenzie glanced at Sookie in search of guidance. From her understanding, she wasn't even sure if the dreams would ever go away. How could she just suddenly stop having them?

"You know as well as I do that she can't help it," Sookie stepped forward in Mackenzie's defence. "You know that she can't just stop having them. You can't ask that of her."

"I can," he grunted. "And I am. Not another dream."

"But I…"

"I said you will not dream of him again and you will do as I say!" Eric roared, his glare so strong Mackenzie cowered away in fright.

No, nothing had changed at all.

"Eric," Sookie planted herself in front of Mackenzie, her hands on her hips as she glared right on back at him. "Don't be an ass. She can't help this."

"She can damn well try," he growled before storming passed both of them and exiting the room in the same fashion as his maker.

The moment they were alone, a small whimper sounded from Mackenzie's lips, her shoulders sagging in defeat. All she had wanted was the truth, and now both of her vampires were storming off elsewhere.

"Just let them cool off," Sookie offered, turning and wrapping an arm around the girl. "Eric just needs to get it through his thick skull that this is in no way your fault,"

"But Godric?" Mackenzie gazed at the door, wishing he would come walking back through it. As uncomfortable she felt, thanks to those damn dreams, she didn't know what she would do if Godric ever walked out of her life again. She needed him, now more than ever.

"I think he's just as confused as you are about this," she squeezed the teen's shoulders. "Just give them some time. Why don't we order some room service? I'm starved and I'm sure you're just as hungry."

She was hungry, but the thought of eating after what had just happened made her woozy. At the smile of assurance that everything would be all right, however, Mackenzie tried to force herself to relax. Godric would come back. Of course he would. He wouldn't leave her over something as silly as this, would he?

A/N: oops, never meant for this to be THIS long, but y'all said you didn't mind long chapters so, here ya go! Mackenzie knows about the bond and the side effects (oh she is angry!), Eric is all protective daddy NOT liking this one bit, Godric is confused (poor guy) and Sookie I feel like is a Gonzie fangirl. good times are rolling for this family! haha

To a reviewer who stated they didn't like Mackenzie with Godric because she belongs with Eric, I just wanted to say that to me she is Eric's daughter and he is her father. I can't see it in any other way and I won't write it like that. I know some people ship it, and hey, go for it. Y'all can ship whoever you want. that's what is so fun about all this. But Mackenzie and Eric to me, are only father and daughter and that's the only way I can write it. Hopefully you keep on reading anyways!
