I will be going quicker through the months. Also the last part of this chapter deals with something that if you are under age, please do not read this. I hope no one hates me after reading this, there is a reason behind everything.
Spring of 390 A.D.
Elena could see Lysandra making her way into a forest shrouded in a deep fog. She couldn't understand why she was back in a dream with Lysandra. She knew that Lysandra was actually Caroline, so this was just weird to be dreaming about her. She knew she was dreaming the moment she saw Caroline looking just like when she was Lysandra. She watched as Lysandra disappeared into the tree line. She had only one thing to do and that was to follow Lysandra.
The air had a chill to it and Lysandra wrapped her arms around her while she walked towards the woods. Her dark hair was pulled over her right shoulder and her dress was clinging to her body because the air was damp. She did not need any lights on, she could see just fine where she was going. She could see Alexios standing beside a tree, his dark hair was down and hanging passed his shoulder with lose curls. She could not take her eyes off of him; he had always been handsome. He looked every bit like his father who was a Greek God.
Elena as she got closer could see Alexios standing off in the distance and she could see the smile that appeared on Lysandra's face as she noticed Alexios. Elena couldn't make out what was going on and she really wanted to know what they doing there. It seemed like they had no idea she was there, so she crept closer to them.
"Ly." Alexios greeted her.
"Alex." Lysandra said with a flirty smile on her face.
"You know it's not safe to call this meeting." He said while gently taking her hand in his own. Elena could tell from his outfit that it was more Medieval than the Grecian wear that she thought he would be wearing.
"I know…but I needed to see you and this place is better than any…I may or may not be friends with the person who rules here," She said while coming closer to him, wrapping her arms around his midsection. "We need to talk about her." She whispered.
"Ly…you know we can't do anything…we screwed up bad last time." He said while extracting her arms from him and turning away from her. "You got in big trouble last time too…you were sent to earth with the humans." He said with distaste.
"I know," She whispered again. "But can you really say that we should leave her where she is?"
"Yes…because if we do this…one way or another we will get caught…and we can't protect her." He said while shaking his head.
"Alex…her parents did nothing for her…we did everything for her," She said while taking his hands in her own. Elena could tell that they were talking about something serious and that Alexios disagreed with Lysandra. "I can feel her Alex…I can feel her…her soul still aches for him."
"Ly," He said while grabbing her face with both of his hands and pulling her closer to him. "Not only did we screw up her life…you got in trouble for it…my aunt will ruin everything we do," He said while dropping his hands and turning his back to her. "She is smarter than you take her for."
"We have to try." She said while putting her hand on his shoulder and pulling him around so she could look at him.
"Ly…I won't help you this time."
"Why…you knew the risk last time and you helped."
"I did that for my father…and you fell for him." He said while looking down at her. Elena kept watching them, but could not understand what they were talking about. She figured they were talking about her, but she did not know about what.
"So you know about that?" She whispered.
"Yeah…I know about that."
"My mom sent me away…I had no memories until I turned a certain age…but I had already started a relationship with him…I'm sorry…you were all I could think of when the nights came." She whispered while leaning up to kiss his cheek but he moved away from her and Elena could see the hurt expression appear on her face.
"You know it's not a good idea if we do anything or meet up anymore…we need to cut ties now before someone gets hurt." Alexios said while looking off into the distance, he couldn't bare to look at her.
"Alex…we need to help her and I did not just ask you here to help me with this," She said while pausing. "But I also asked you here because…because I wanted to see you…I've missed you," She said while pulling him towards her. "And I need your help too…she is like our own…we are more her parents than they ever were…we just can't leave her there."
"I know Ly…I see her as my daughter too…but we need to stay out of her life…it's for the best."
"Please help me with this." She begged him.
"You know I would do anything for you Ly…but this…this is too much to ask."
"Please…I feel how she aches for him…just like I ached to see you." She begged him again while wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him closer to her.
"You fell in love with a human." He said while pulling away from her.
"Please…don't hold what I did against her…please help me." She begged.
"Fine," He sighed. "You always get your way Ly…don't you?" He said while looking down at her.
"Thank you," She said while leaning up and kissing him on the lips. "I've missed you." She whispered against his lips
"I have missed you too Ly." He said while kissing her back. "But if we do this…we do it right this time…no screws up…we can't hurt her again."
"Then you might want to remember that." She laughed.
"Who says it would be my fault." He said while tickling her.
"Oh come on Alex…you only do one thing right." She said while biting his earlobe.
"Is that so…so then what do you do right…because I do believe that it is in the same category as mine." He said while nibbling at her neck. Elena could see how they kept kissing and no one was saying anything, until a bed of sorts appeared in the middle of the forest. "Just like your mother." He laughed.
"I take that as a compliant," She laughed. "I only got one of her gifts." She said while pushing him back onto the bed and kissing him again. Elena watched as things proceed further and she began to scream at them to stop but they could not hear her. She wanted them to stop because she did not want to see what they were about to do.
Present day: March 22nd,
Elena woke up screaming no at the top of her lungs. Scottsdale jumped up from where he had his head on her hip. He started up at her with wide eyes, like asking what is wrong with you. Elena rubbed at her eyes and trying to get the image of Lysandra and Alexios together out of her mind.
"Lena?" Caroline said with in a tired voice while rubbing at her own eyes and looking at her friend who had her head in her hands. Elena looked over at her friend quickly to see Caroline smirking at her and the images came back. Quickly covering her head with the blankets, she just wanted the image to disappear. Scottsdale snuck his nose against her and tried to her to look at him.
"Oh God," She said loudly. "You did that on purpose."
"No…not really," Caroline said while still smirking at her. "That was all you."
"So you weren't dreaming about that?" Elena asked while looking over at her.
"No…I was actually dreaming of the two guys from Supernatural." Caroline said while laughing.
"You loved him?" She asked while looking down at her own hands, but she caught the look on Caroline's face that quickly was masked over with indifference.
"Elena…that is road I haven't been down in more than few hundred years," Caroline said while sighing. "God I'm old." She said while laughing.
"Care…I thought you just told me that it was just Tyler and Klaus?"
"Elena…please," Caroline said while sighing again. She really did not want to talk about Alexios. "Some things deserve to stay in the past…this is one of those."
"I don't understand how I was able to see that…if it wasn't a dream…then what was it?"
"A memory…of times long past." Caroline said while sitting up in the bed to stare at Elena.
"Then how?"
"Elena…when you were born your parents bounded your powers…everything was going good…until now." Caroline tried to explain.
"What does that mean?"
"It means your powers are coming back…and in full force," Caroline said while sighing. "I should've been teaching you," She said while shaking her head. "But I felt that you were so happy with Damon-"
"What do you mean felt I am was happy?" Elena said while cutting her friend off.
"Me and Alex had you for two months before we took you to your new parents…I had an oracle bind you and me together."
"So wait…you know everything I am feeling or doing…isn't that invasive of privacy?"
"Yes and no…I don't pop in much and it's just to make sure your okay." Caroline said while blushing because she was embarrassed.
"My life has been ran for me since the day I was convinced…hasn't it?"
"Yes." Caroline sadly said.
"Is there anyway to get the bind off of me…my powers are coming back…so shouldn't that help?"
"No…the oracle I had help me…well she was the most powerful oracle to ever live and only she can undo the bind…I'm sorry Lena…I don't know where she is at." Caroline said while looking down at her hands.
"This is screwed up."
"I know…Lena," Caroline said while turning to look at her. "My life also got screwed up…it just wasn't your own." She whispered while remembering Alexios. "I'm sorry…I've only ever did what I thought was right by you…I've only ever wanted to protect you and now I need to be more responsible and teach you how to control you powers…instead of acting like they will go away."
"How will you teach me…I thought they were a beacon for her to find me?"
"They are…but if I don't teach you how to not use them…you will do just want you did with my memories while I was a sleep…and you didn't even mean to do it." Caroline tried to explain.
"Okay…I'm up for it…if it means I will be protected," She said before pausing for a second. "So when do we begin?"
"How about every Sunday…or is that the day you meet up with Damon?"
"No that's fine…this is more important," She said while biting her lip. "Do you even know what gifts I have?"
"No…just one…your able to crawl into peoples' unconscious minds and dreams…without them knowing…which could be from your mother." Caroline said while trying to figure out which parent she would have gotten that gift from.
"How…Bastet was a protector?"
"She also rides on the ship every night…but then again it could be from Anubis."
"Anubis…is there something you're not telling me?" Elena began to wonder about everything.
"No…your mother and him were good friends…nothing more…but he is the one that delivered you…it could be possible that you stole one of his powers-"
"Stole?" She said while cutting Caroline off.
"Your gift could be were you take a little bit of other peoples' gifts…without you even noticing it…but still you have a rare gift."
"Rare?"
"Yeah…there's only been a few with your gift…and the other gods and goddess don't like when their gifts are being stolen…doesn't mean their gifts are taken forever…you just get a little bit of their gifts and well they don't like to share."
"So basically I will never be liked."
"Oh Lena…don't worry so much…me and Alex love you like are own and you shouldn't care what everyone else thinks or says."
"Yeah…your right." She said while sighing.
"I am," Caroline said while smiling over at her. "I'll show you how to control them…whichever gifts you get."
"Lucky me," She said while grumbling. "Care?" She asked.
"Mmh?"
"Why do we have act like we are planning on going to college and going to prom or dress shopping for prom…since that is what we will being in," She said while looking over at her clock to see that it was only four something in the morning. "In like a couple of hours." She had to know, because it bugged her a little bit.
"Because if we don't…someone is abound get suspicion and we don't need that…we don't need her coming after you right now…we need to act like nothing is out of the normal."
"Mmh."
"And also…you need a chance to live a little…before everything either blows up in our faces or goes to shit."
"That really sounds like fun." She said while trying to laugh.
"Oh it should be…but we need to make sure no one gets suspicious."
"I can do that," She said while laughing again. "Now tell me about Alex."
"Elena!" Caroline said while sighing.
"Please…I could tell that you loved him."
"What me and Alex had…well it ended."
"Why?" Elena asked, mostly because she was curious.
"Because of Klaus." Caroline spoke slowly.
"What?" She said in surprise.
"I was sent to earth for a second time and I fell in love with Klaus…there was no hiding it…and Alex knew that and he couldn't accept it…so he wouldn't talk to me for many years…until I begged him again to help me and when I went down as one of your maids during the 1860's…well I wasn't suspecting Klaus to be there and we again had a whirlwind romance…but it ended when I disappeared."
"Why did you disappear…why not have a life with him?"
"Because…you were gone," Caroline said before coming quiet when she thought of that life and how it was her fault. "There was no reason for me to stay there anymore."
"How did I…how did I die in that life?" She asked while stumbling over her words.
"I'm not telling you Lena…it was the same as every other life…we got screwed okay…but when I left…Klaus got married and I had one pissed off god on my hands…Alex was so mad at me…he didn't speak to me until the 1930's…and then we didn't speak again after it blew up in our faces for another time…until around this time…and we both decided to come into this life." Caroline said sadly and Elena could tell that a part of her still loved Alexios.
"Who is he?" She really wanted to know who Alexios was, because it was one of their friends.
"No." Caroline said while turning over in the bed and acting like she was going back to bed and Elena just huffed, which earned her a chuckle from Caroline.
A Few Hours Later,
Elena was parked in one of the chairs in front of the changing room at the dress shop. Anna was sitting beside her with a bored expression on her face. They had been sitting there for a good two hours while Rebekah and Caroline tried on dresses.
"I wonder if we ditched them while they were in the changing room if they would notice?" Anna said while looking up from her phone.
"Probably not…but Care drove." Elena said while laughing. At that moment, Caroline finally came out of the dressing room.
"How does this look?" Caroline asked while twirling around and looking in the three mirrors. The dress she was wearing was a pretty red number that had a sweetheart neckline with a beaded bustline and lace-up back. There were flowers around the hip area and the bodice had sequins. The skirting had layers of taffeta.
"Nah." Elena said while doing a thumbs down motion.
"You have said that about all of them." Caroline grumbled.
"Because they all sucked…but it's not my opinion that matters…think about what Tyler would like…or what you would like."
"Elena!" Caroline whined.
"Caroline!" Elena mocked. "Just try something in pastel colors…dark colors are just not you." She offered to her friend.
"Well I did wear a blue color last year."
"See…something light and fluffy is more your style."
"Yeah last year the dress was perfect…until Klaus puked all over it."
"Why…weren't you dating Tyler last year?" Elena asked while picking up a magazine to flip through.
"I was…but it was at the after party...and I wanted to keep dancing but Tyler…along with Damon were drunk off their asses…you should have seen Katherine…she was so pissed at Damon," Caroline laughed. "So was Klaus but he could at least stand…and he had already lost his date at the dance-"
"Weren't him and Hayley dating at that time?" Elena asked.
"God no," Rebekah called from one of the changing rooms. "They had broken up."
"Yeah…so he offered to dance with me…and well Matt and Rebekah had already left early…so I went dancing with him and then he ended puking on me." Caroline said while rolling her eyes.
"Sounds like a fun night."
"Yeah so…I want it to be special this time…since it's my last time to do it right and you're here." Caroline said while smiling over at Elena.
"Don't I feel special?" Elena said while laughing.
"When are we leaving?" Anna asked while looking up from her phone.
"Here soon…but you guys haven't looked for dresses and we need to find out."
"Prom's not until the 17th of May…so I think we have enough time."
"But we have to have time to have them hemmed and fixed if anything needs to be fixed on them." Caroline complained.
"I'll look as soon as you're done trying on dresses and showing me." Elena said while stretching and yawning.
"And the dresses are too expensive for me." Anna said while typing something on her phone.
"Who are you texting?" Elena whispered over to Anna who just grinned back at her. "Jer?" She asked and she could see Anna nodding her head yes. They hadn't noticed Caroline disappear back into the changing room, but Rebekah finally came out of her changing room. She was dressed in a black dress with a sweetheart neckline and tiered tulle skirt.
"So what do you think?" Rebekah asked while showing off the dress.
"So not you." Elena said while standing and heading towards a rack of dresses.
"I was thinking the same thing." Rebekah said while heading back into the changing room.
"How about this Anna?" Elena said while Anna a multicolored mini dress.
"Looks like something I would wear." Anna said while laughing and getting up to come closer to the where Elena was standing.
"So what were you thinking for your dress?" Elena asked while looking through the dresses until she found one that could work. It was a black and nude dress that was strapless and had a sweetheart neckline with a lace on the bodice, along with beaded embellishments. There was also lace and sheer tulle on the skirt.
"I have no idea." Anna said while fingering through the dresses.
"Me either," She said while thinking about what Damon would like to see her in. "I think I'm going to try this on." She said while taking the dress into the changing room. Few minutes, both Caroline and Rebekah came out. Caroline was dressed in a fuchsia colored one-shoulder dress. The dress was done in sheath style with a nude neckline and back. There was also a slit right up one side. Rebekah on the other hand was dressed in a yellow colored dress.
"Where's Lena?" Caroline asked while parading around in her dress.
"Trying on a dress." Anna said while looking up from a rack of dresses.
"Oh good…have you found any?" Rebekah asked Anna as she looked into the mirror.
"No…I think I may try another store." Elena finally came out of the dressing room, twirling around in her dress.
"What do you guys think?" She asked while looking over at the other two girls in dresses.
"I love it." Both girls said.
"I was thinking the same thing," She laughed. "Care that's still not your dress," She laughed more when Caroline playfully glared over at her. "Sorry," She said while shrugging her shoulder. "I do love your dress though Rebekah."
"Fine," Caroline sighed while marching into her dressing room. "I have one more dress…but I am not sure it's me." She called out while closing the door. It only took a couple of seconds before Caroline reappeared and this time the light pink dress screamed her.
"Now that is you." She said while flidding with her skirt and looking over at Caroline.
"Wow." Rebekah said while laughing. "You look fine."
"Do I?" Caroline said while giggling and looking in the mirror. "So I heard that your brother as finally broken up with Hayley." Caroline said while looking down at her dress.
"Yeah...and it was heated," Rebekah said while heading back to the dressing room. "She was yelling at him and he was telling her that she shouldn't have cheated…but we all know Klaus cheats on her…it's their thing," Elena shot a quick look over to Caroline was looking down at her feet. She was planning on asking Caroline about that. "Then screamed at me…because I had been watching them the whole time…Klaus told her to shut up and then told me to take her home because he had a enough of her," Rebekah said while closing the door behind her. "I was so pissed…but of course I drove her home…just to get her out of the house…but the whole time she was saying awful things about my brother," She said while unzipping her dress. "So when I finally dropped her off…which she forgets if it wasn't for my brother…she wouldn't be apart of our group," She grumbled. "So I looked right at her and told her to get her ass out of my car…and that she should know by now that my brother cheats…she looked at me like I had offended her and she said 'well tell your brother that my dress is'…I cut her off and slammed the car door in her face…I sped out of there too…really hoping that rocks flew up and hit her." She said while laughing and opening the door.
"You did not?" Elena said while opening her own door and walking down.
"She probably did…she really doesn't like Hayley." Caroline said while laughing and coming out of her own changing room.
"Sounds about right," Anna said while standing from her seat. "You girls ready to go?"
"Yeah…just have to buy these dresses." Elena said while walking over to the sales clerk.
"Oh good," Anna said while laughing and bumping shoulders with Elena. "I say lunch after this…how about that cute Italian restaurant?"
"Sounds good to me." Caroline said while laughing.
"I'm up for it." Rebekah said while putting her dress up on the sales counter.
March 22nd,
Damon was just coming down the stairs when his father was coming through the front door. He could tell his father was in a good mood, which was a good thing for him. His father had been riding him ever since they sent the out the applications.
"Damon my boy," Giuseppe greeted while looking through the mail he had in his hands. "Where's your mom?"
"Out." He said while going for the door.
"Where do you think your going?"
"To meet Klaus…where going to the Grill…why?" He asked while turning around to face his father who was reading something with the largest grin on his face. "What's that?"
"Your future my boy," Giuseppe said while handing him the acceptance letter from Columbia and his heart sank. "Didn't I tell you that you would be able to get in…and you were all worried."
"Yeah," He said while scratching the back of his head. "Dad about that."
"What is it?" Giuseppe said while walking towards his study.
"Well…I've been doing a lot of thinking-"
"Cut to the chase son." Giuseppe said while cutting his son off.
"Dad…I don't want to go to Columbia-" Damon didn't even get the rest of his sentence out of his mouth before his father had grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.
"What did you say?" Giuseppe growled while dragging Damon into his study. He threw his son into the chair sitting beside his desk. "Repeat what you just said."
"Dad." Damon knew what was to come next and he knew his father had a temper.
"Damon," His father yelled. "I won't have you screwing up your life," He screamed at his son. "You will be going to Columbia in the fall…Katherine will be there with you," He said while seething at his son. "Everything as been planned."
"Yeah…everything as been planned…by you…not me." Damon shot up out of seat while screaming at his father.
"Sit your ass back down."
"I won't and you can't make me…I've had enough with you controlling my life…I'm going to Duke."
"Are you now?" Giuseppe yelled at his has he got closer to Damon. "I would choose your next words carefully."
"Father…I'm done with you controlling my life." Before Damon knew it, he was being punched in the face by his father and it wasn't something new. His father had only stopped torturing him when he met Stephanie, but it never really stopped. His father sometimes liked to us the belt on him, but he hadn't done it since sophomore year. Damon stepped back to look at his father while touching his bleeding lip.
"Sit…now," Giuseppe said while yelling at him. "I've gone too soft on you and you need to be taught a lesson…like retraining of sorts." He said while glaring at his son who was not taking a seat but glaring back at him.
"I'm not sitting…and you can't bully me anymore." Before he knew it, his father was pushing down in the chair.
"This is what we are going to do son…first," Giuseppe said while holding one finger up. "You are going to Columbia…like every other Salvatore as done…and second," Giuseppe said while holding two fingers up. "You're going to go into my bedroom…and your going to pick one of belts out…and your going to bring it in here." Damon didn't want to cower in his seat, but he was. He was terrified his father, because he knew the damage his father could do for only be one person.
His father hadn't made him go get one of his belts since before Stephanie came into their life. They only thing that happened after Stephanie and his father married was that Giuseppe would sometimes hit him or even throw him into things. He had actually been glad when Stephanie came into their life, because he did not miss the beatings he got when his father had used one of his belts. Never once has his father ever beaten or tortured Stefan, no he only treated him that way. His father also made sure do the beatings were no one would fine them, he actually had scares on his back from it. The only thing he ever did right for his father was by asking Katherine to be his girlfriend and everyday now he was regretting that choice. He was regretting it now because he had his Alexis back. To a point he still loved Katherine, but now that Elena was in his life. Well he just wanted Elena and no one else. Out of all of his lives, he hated having Giuseppe as his father the most.
"I'm not doing that." He spoke quickly back to his father.
"Oh your not," Giuseppe said while grabbing his son by the collar of his shirt and hoisting him up to his feet. Damon tried to push his father back, but his father was stronger. "Now…go get me one of my belts and I'll go easy." Damon just laughed as his father pushed him out of his study. When he walked into the living room, he looked over at the door and thought; well I could either leave or be beaten worse when I got back.
"I'm not doing it," He yelled at his dad while holding his bleeding lip. Giuseppe marched right towards his son while taking his belt off and raising it strike at his son. The first strike could be heard, like a whip through the air as it struck skin. Damon moved away from his father, but tripped over the back of the couch and hitting the side of the coffee table. Silence soon followed, and then the whipping sound was heard again. Damon reached out to grab a hold of his dad's belt but was struck by the belt slicing his skin on his wrist. Giuseppe did not let up, he striked his son with his belt for a seventh time and then a eighth time before Damon finally whelped in pain, but this did not stop his father. Damon finally took a deep breath and stood up from the position he was in. "I won't let you bully me anymore." He yelled at his dad. Giuseppe stilled his striking motion.
"Go to your room…and take care of those sores…your mama doesn't need to see them," Giuseppe said while walking towards his study. "Don't make noise…I have people to call." Damon just stood there for several minutes after his father left before he headed out the front door. He had no idea where he was going because he knew on one would believe him if he told them that the marks were from his father that the whole town loved.

The reason school and college is important, is because like Caroline explained they have to act normal around everyone else that does not know what is going on. Caroline will be training Elena soon and you will get to see that. So Elena is naive to think they will all go together, I already know who is going to which colleges. There is nothing wrong with Simon Walsh, I promise. He will never come back up again.
I hope that means that you like Jenna. I am glad your happy that Katherine was not in this chapter and guess what, she wasn't in this chapter too.
