Eliot spins around to see Parker and Hardison walking up on them. When Aria turns around Parker practically hits a dead run. "Aria!" Eliot gives Hardison the look that means spill it and spill it now. "She called us." Eliot looks back at Aria and Parker chatting it up like sisters. "What is with the screw driver?"
"Nothing. Why did she call you?" Eliot keeps a watchful eye on the girls. He is beginning to wonder if Aria is assembling the troops. Rather than if, he is beginning to wonder why. Aria looks at her watch. She has appointments to keep. Parker and Aria walk back towards the boys. Aria reaches into her pocket pulls out a couple of card keys. She tosses them at Eliot. Eliot is still holding the screwdriver in his hand. As Eliot catches the cards, Aria removes the tool from his hand. "El, this only works as a weapon if you are the doctor."
"I have an appointment to keep." Aria starts to walk passed him. Eliot grabs her arm. "Whoa, you don't get off that easy. Where are you going." "To find where I parked my TARDIS. I'll catch you at the hotel." She leans in and kisses him on the cheek as she breaks his grip. She gives Parker and Hardison a wave as she walks off into the looks down at the keys with Hardison. "The Montgomery… nice. I love the way she thinks. Come on my brother." Eliot looks up but Aria has vanished. They head to the hotel. Aria had rented the penthouse under a false name. They enter to find Sophie and Nate waiting for them. Eliot is surprised. Surprise turns to shock when Mack walks in. The only one missing is Vance. All of them know they are here for a reason. They get comfortable and wait.
Aria checks her watch and heads to the Navy Yard.
Shelley is walking towards his truck when he spies a familiar face on propped on his tailgate. He parts with his companions and walks to his truck. Aria is sitting on top of the tailgate waiting for him. Shelley walks up to Aria and stands between her legs. Aria is really happy to see this face. She opens her arms for Shelley to walk into a hug. Shelley can't help but see the weariness that is permeating off of Aria but he is happy to see her. He holds her before leaning up for a kiss it has been a long time... too long. He can't help but wonder how long she will be in town but he will take whatever he can get. Shelley lingers in the embrace before helping Aria off of the bumper. Aria asks if he has a sitter which brightens his mood and the destination of the hotel brings a smile.
Vance arrives a while later. When he enters, he commands the attention of the room. Vance did not expect the whole crew. He expected Eliot. He expected Mack. He figured Mack would grab Shelley and is surprised he didn't. Mack calls Shelley to find out that Aria is currently sitting next to him in the cab of his truck.
Vance pours himself a drink and paces towards Mack and Eliot . They exchange a knowing look. Nate breaks the ice. "It is obvious that we are here about Aria. She brought us all here. The question is why. What is she into?" Vance takes a long drag from the glass before he answers the question that Nate left hanging in the air. At this point Mack and Eliot have exchanged another knowing look. "What is going on?" Vance's silence raises their level of concern. The door opens again to reveal Sterling. Eliot's level of concern just hit the stratosphere.
"Have you told them? Vance shakes his head. Sterling joins him in the drink. While the others grow more and more agitated with their lack of response to the obvious question, Eliot begins to pace. Sterling knows the look all too well.
"What did you get her into?" Eliot is in Sterling's face. Eliot grabs his shirt. Vance sets down his drink and stands between them. He gently removes Eliot's grip. "He didn't get her into anything." Eliot begrudgingly releases Sterling. "An old friend of ours sent her into the arena again." Vance now has the undivided attention of Mack and Eliot. They know exactly what that means. "Tell me they promoted that bastard again." Mack is about to lose his mind. "It's him… how the f….?" Mack stops himself. "That bastard is just f…" He begins to pace running his hands through his hair.
Eliot knows there is only one person who can push Mack in this way where Aria was concerned. It is the same person who practically sent them to their deaths by his own stupidity and need for self-preservation. "How the hell is he calling the shots?" Vance walks up on Mack to calm him down. Sterling knows this story. "This is coming from State." Nate has just figured out the end game in this situation but holds his tongue. "So they are sending her mole hunting again?" Eliot joins into the conversation.
"Whatever their plan, they did not keep it a secret. It would have been quieter if he put it on instagram." Vance refreshes his drink. Both he and Sterling are waiting for Nate to join in. "She is not the hunter." Nate finally jumps in. Eliot whips around. "What do you mean? She's the bait?" Nate continues. "Not the bait." Nate starts to pace. Nate knows that Vance knows and cannot speak his mind.
"She is the lure but why the hell are we here." Eliot is now getting very concerned. "Is she playing chess again?"
"This isn't chess. It is battleship. You have to compartmentalize in battleship. That is what she is doing." Nate plays right along with Eliot.
"Compartmentalize your life?" Eliot looks back at Nate. Parker weighs in. "In case of sudden death." None of them want to hear that. Eliot corners Vance. "She is not coming back here." Vance shakes his head. Sophie now interjects. "But that is exactly why we are here. She put us together for that reason."
Vance taps his nose. He knows that he has to leave. He has to sit this one out. He has to play the political side in case Aria needs it. He puts down his glass. "I would love to stay and chat but…" He taps his forehead has he heads to the door. Once Vance has left, Sterling speaks up again. "They are sending Aria to track down and protect an informant and their children. Their country is coming for them and they are putting Aria in the way. There is another mole in the CIA. Someone has turned... Someone high enough to present an insurmountable obstacle."
"In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act." Sterling meets Nate's intense gaze. Sterling nods. "The best way to flush out an assassin…"
"Is with another assassin." Eliot knows how this game is played a little too well. "This reminds me of enemy at the gates." Hardison has been quietly taking in the scene.
"That is exactly what this is."
