"Squint this isn't your fault." Nina said softly. "Pitch trapped you with a decision you could never make, and Gutt only made things worse. I know you love your sister very much."
Squint frowned in determination, raising his head. "I have to find her. I had her for that short trip to save you...and now she's gone again."
"I'll help you look-"
"No. This is...deep. This is something I have to do, I'm her brother." Squint said firmly, turning and gently taking hold of Nina's shoulders.
"I promised I'd help you find her at the beginning of all this. She needs help, whatever happened to her. And you'll need help yourself if you're going to fix this issue." Nina replied in a firm whisper.
Squint smiled softly at her, and Nina smiled back. Squint sighed, then froze in surprise as Nina gave him a small peck on the lips.
The two giggled for a moment before getting down to business. "All right so, first of all we need figure out what happened to her."
"It's called pyrokinesis." Both rabbits turned to see Eightbooksand60cats.
"Pyro-what?" Squint asked.
"It means she can control fire." KaylaDestroyer explained.
"Why do I get the feeling it's deeper than that?" Squint muttered.
KaylaDestroyer shrugged. "She told me that she was healer of her mob once."
"Soooo... Since Bunny says that the dreamsand reaches inside of you, maybe she got healing powers too!" Nina said.
"Yeah, I could see that happening." Squint muttered. "She spent a lot of time as a healer. But...I feel like there's more to the whole fire thing."
"Like what?"
"Well, we know she can control fire. But...I don't know if you guys saw, but, it was like the flames came from inside her."
"WHAT?"
"When the sands changed her, it was like...like the fire came from her. Not figuratively, but, LITERALLY. And she had sat against the wall for a while, like...like she was warming up." Squint ended in a whisper.
"Warming up for what?" Eightbooksand60cats asked.
"I don't know." Squint replied. "But I think she has more to do with fire than just controlling it. I mean, just who she is and how she's always been..."
"What do you mean?" Nina asked.
"Well, she had the most fiery temper anyone had ever seen. And she's always been passionate about things that she does pirating, healing, sistering. I think...I think that's her heart."
"You think FIRE is the heart of your sister?" Bobby asked, appearing beside them.
"Exactly!" Squint replied. He rounded on the Pooka. "Bunny, you said the sand reacts to the inside, who you are. Even if she DID get healing powers and all, wouldn't it make sense that, whatever's in her heart, it would have some internal significance?"
"I...I suppose so." Bunny coughed, rising to his feet. "But I'm not quite sure what's goin' on in your head."
"Look, just let me and Nina go find Raz. The rest of you stay here and stand guard in case she comes back. Or if Pitch and Gutt return."
"Why would THEY come back?" Bobby asked.
"Because they didn't get to destroy us like they planned."
