The Present is a Gift Part 1
Goldy had secluded himself in the Parts and Service room and hadn't come out for hours now. Thomas decided to help repair Benny since there was no way they were going to leave him in the awful condition he was in. Goldy didn't feel at peace anymore. He felt like there was a space between him and the others, Benny included. He wanted to tell them everything, everything about the past. But he also felt like if he did that, he'd grow more distant with them. He felt lost, hopeless, helpless. He didn't feel as if he had a purpose anymore. He just felt as though his being wasn't necessary. He wasn't sure what made him feel this way, and he certainly didn't know how to change it. He cried multiple times as he sat in the cold and dark room. He started to contemplate his own past. His choices and the events that brought him to where he was.
Goldy's eyelids slowly opened, blinking as he regained his vision. A few clicks and whirs sounded as he checked his surroundings. He was lying on his back on the show stage. Goldy yawned and scratched his hatless head, sitting up. His glowing red eyes suddenly met with bright light blue ones.
"Hey, Fredbear!" A familiar voice greeted. Goldy recognized the voice.
"Hi, Benny. What's got you so excited?" Goldy replied, voice fatigued.
"Only the greatest news ever!" Benny exclaimed, hopping on his toes.
"You say that every morning." Goldy said, his eyes narrowing a bit.
"Nuh-uh! Anyway, I heard-"
"Something from the management?" Goldy asked, interrupting the ecstatic gold bunny.
"Yeah! And-"
"They said something awesome?"
"Uh-huh! They said that we're gonna get updated!" Benny said, still hopping with excitement.
"Really? Sounds nice." Goldy replied with very little enthusiasm.
"Hey, why aren't you excited?" Benny asked him, almost as if he had been insulted.
"I'm tired, Benny. I don't have much energy to be excited." Goldy said.
"Maybe you'll get more energy when we get updated." Benny shrugged.
Goldy yawned again, "Maybe." Benny puffed out air in one cheek.
"Hey, I got an idea. Why don't we go mess with the staff?" The gold bunny suggested deviously. Goldy stared at Benny with an lethargic and dull expression.
"Sure!" Goldy exclaimed and stood up. Benny chuckled madly and led the way to on of the Employee's Only offices.
"Okay, so what are we gonna do this time?" Goldy asked, much more enthusiastic now.
"I've got an idea." Benny snickered with a hand over his mouth. "We're gonna do this: We're gonna get a bucket of water and place it at the top of the door. Then, we attach the handle of the bucket to the doorknob with string. And when someone walks through, BAM! The get splashed with water!"
"Classic, I like it!" Goldy beamed. "I'll get the water, you get the string."
"Aye aye, Cap'n!" Benny saluted and ran off in search of string. Goldy ran toward the kitchen, being as casual as he could as he walked in. The staff was well aware of the animatronics' sentience, but what they weren't aware of was their mischievous behavior. Goldy walked into the kitchen with his head held high.
"Hi Greg!" Goldy greeted happily.
"Oh, hey Fredbear. Need something?" Greg replied, he was the head chef of the restaurant.
"Just some water." Goldy said simply, a large smile on his face. "But don't bother, I'll get it myself. We want those pizzas to taste good."
Greg chuckled, "You know, there is such a thing as multitasking, Fredbear."
"Well not all of us can do that very well, now can we?" Goldy giggled, carrying on the conversation to keep the man distracted.
"This is true. But what do you know about multitasking?" Greg question the gold bear.
"Oh, more than you know, my friend. More than you know." Goldy said, his devious grin returning. During the conversation, Goldy had filled a bucket from under the sink as well as a cup to avoid suspicion.
"Alright well, I'll see you around, Greg. Keep those pizzas cooking!" He told the chef, walking out of the kitchen.
"Don't worry about me, Fredbear!" Greg laughed. Goldy laughed as well and closed the doors.
"I am so smooth." He said to himself. "You've been hit by, you've been struck by, a smooth criminal~." Goldy then began moonwalking his way back to the Employee's Office, humming the song as he went. Benny was searching around the Technician's Supply room when he found a wire lying on the ground.
"This will do too." Benny beamed. The gold bunny picked up the wire and looked behind it to make sure it wasn't connected to anything. When he was sure he had a freed wire, Benny took off for the Employee's Office. Benny saw Goldy standing there when he arrived.
"Got the water?" He asked.
"You know it. Got the string?" Goldy returned.
"Even better. A durable wire." Benny beamed.
Goldy chuckled mischievously, "Let's do it." Benny nodded and the two marched into the room, snickering and cackling. They set up their little trap and quickly exited the room.
"Haha! I can't wait to see this!" Goldy said.
"Me either!" Benny replied, high fiving his golden friend. The two hid behind a nearby table to watch their prank unfold on their unaware and poor victim. The manager walked out of the office and towards the "prank room," as they were calling it now. The two snickered as the man made his way toward the room. The manager opened the door and walked in. The door stopped a bit midway and continued, which confused the man. And before he knew it, he was plundered with water, with a bucket lying on his head, drenching him in his clothes. Goldy and Benny burst out into laughter.
"BOYS!" The manager yelled. The gold bear and bunny were too busy laughing to even notice they were being called. Benny was lying on his back, laughing and kicking his feet in the air. Goldy was on his stomach pounding the floor with a fist.
"FREDBEAR! BENNY!" the manager screeched. This got their attention and they quickly stood up straight, hands beside them. All laughter had ceased. The manager stomped toward the two animatronics, dripping with water. "What did I tell you about your pranks?" They were both silent, not making any eye contact with the man. "Must I repeat myself?"
"Y-you said... that they start off harmless... and then somebody might get hurt later." Goldy said.
"My advice though, git gud." Benny chortled. Goldy couldn't help but snicker, which caused Benny to snicker as well, and before they knew it, they were laughing again. The manager growled and the two stood still and quiet again.
"I suggest, that you stop these pranks before they get out of hand." The manager said.
They both nodded, "We're sorry."
"It's alright, I just wish I had something else to change into." The manager sighed before walking off. Benny and Goldy looked at each other and subconsciously, they both began to smile. Their smiles turned into grins, which turned into giggles. And eventually, they were laughing once more.
"Hey, do you know what would have been even funnier?" Benny asked his friend through his laughter.
"What?" Goldy replied, still laughing as well.
"If he stepped on a spring, and bounced up into the water bucket!" Benny said. They both began laughing even harder.
"Y-yeah! Then you know what we could call that?" Goldy asked.
"What?"
"A springprank!" Goldy said.
"How about a springtrap?" Benny suggest with a proud grin.
"Oooh! Even better!" Goldy cooed energetically. The two laughed again, thoroughly enjoying each others company. The joy these two felt when they were around each other was unmistakable. It was irreplaceable. They loved each other like brothers. They wanted everything to stay just the way it was, and for it to never change. But unfortunately, that's not reality.
