Connor knew S.H.I.E.L.D was going to catch her – it was inevitable. The tracker in her shoulder wasn't going to help anyone, it might give Steve more time but she knew it was a mistake to not have taken it out when Tony offered her.

She was walking down the middle of a crowed road, hoping if she kept her head down no-one would catch her.

Hope doesn't help her, it never has.

Seven black vans pulled into the street and Connor turned around, dropping her hood and sprinting through people and into a different street which was part of a small square with a wide non-covered area of grass. She decided it was better than nothing and ran over to the grass.

A bullet whizzed past her and she ducked, before stumbling and falling over a tree root. As the vans all opened and around thirty armed men came out, she could hear the faint buzzing of a helicopter overhead.

Connor shifted, knowing that people who were watching now understood who she was, which also meant that S.H.I.E.L.D possibly would refrain from shooting her. Connor growled at the agents and spun on the spot, making sure none of them got close to her.

There was too many though for her to keep up with. She darted through one man's legs and took off but as she felt the pain her right arm, she heard the bang. Connor shifted back instantly, the black wolf being replaced by the teenage girl who was holding her arm. She pulled the bullet out and pushed herself up but she was slammed to her knees, while one of the men from the elevator held a gun to her head.

She understood that was it. She was going to get killed right here, in front of all these people, in front of a new reporter helicopter. She watched as the man who had the taser in the elevator crouched down in front of her.

"Where is Captain America?" He spat out and she could feel some of his spit on her face. She flashed her eyes blue only to be poked in the side with a taser.

"Away from you." He narrowed his eyes before she looked up. He followed her gaze and saw the news helicopter before cursing under his breath.

He looked up at his friend with the gun. "Not now, there's a news helicopter above." The man lowered the gun and Connor was pulled up and handcuffed, but of course, had two guns following her as she was shoved into the back of one of the black vans.

As Steve and Natasha ate the food that Steve's new friend Sam had cooked for them, their attention was drawn to the breaking news on the TV.

"...and after a quick showdown, Connor Whittmore – most commonly known for being a part of the Avengers and aiding in the alien attack on Manhattan two years ago – has been restrained by S.H.I.E.L.D, the government agency that have only recently became known to the public. Whittmore was almost shot in the head before the agents noticed out helicopter above and she was handcuffed and – very aggressively – pushed into the back of one of the many black vans surrounding the scene.

It in unsure why Whittmore has been apprehended but we have received a short statement from the director of the company announcing that any information on Black Widow and Captain America – also two of the Avengers – must be reported immediately..."

Natasha and Steve shared panicked looks with Sam staring at the TV confused.

"They won't kill her right? She's a kid."

Steve shook his head. "Connor will get out. I'm sure."

Natasha looked concerned. "If I wasn't been traced, I would get Clint in. But god knows where his mission is."

Connor sat in a dark room with one bulb and she knew she was about to be interrogated. The door slid open and she looked up to see Maria Hill walking in.

"Maria-" The woman cut her off.

"Shut up and listen to me." Connor shut her mouth and gulped.

"You heard the heartbeat yet you didn't tell anyone." Connor froze and realised what Maria was talking about. She opened her mouth but nothing came out.

"Connor, Romanoff and Rogers are being pursued right now, we're going to be a part of the team that collects and restrains them. You understand me?" Connor nodded and Maria unclipped her handcuffs before passing her brown contact lenses.

"You're going to be one of the dogs." Connor looked at Maria.

"Are you joking me?" She said unamused but put the contacts in anyway and shifted, letting Maria put on the leash and collar before putting on her own helmet and joining up with the squad. One of the other members walked over to Maria and looked down at Connor.

"For a moment I thought that was Whittmore but then I remembered Whittmore had blue eyes."

Maria nodded and laughed before boarding the van with Connor.

They pulled into a street where Natasha, Steve and Sam were standing. Maria and Connor jumped out, Connor pretending to be barking angrily. The same thing happened to Steve that happened to Connor, where a helicopter stopped him from getting a bullet in the head.

Maria and Connor got into a van with another armed agent, while the three got loaded into the same van as them. While they talked about whom this Winter Solider guy was, Connor kept growling at them for appearance yet she could smell the blood on Natasha.

"We need to get a doctor here, if we don't put pressure on that wound, she's gonna bleed out."

The other agent activated their taser to get Sam to shut up. Connor growled and she realised she almost gave it away. Maria grabbed her own taser and rammed it into the agent, before smacking his head against the side of the van and knocking him out.

The three looked up in surprise as she took of her helmet. "Ah, that thing was squeezing my brain." Connor let out a high pitched whine and Maria rolled her eyes before removing the collar. Connor shifted back and moved over to beside Natasha.

She placed her hand over the bullet wound and her veins turned black. The three looked between the two of them.

"You were almost killed, we saw it on TV." Sam pointed out and Connor shrugged while removing the contacts and flinging them to the ground, her eyes flashing blue before going back to normal.

She was about to start Maria's plan when she realised a fatal flaw.

"Maria, I still have my tracker." Everyone shared panicked looks before Connor spoke again. "You all go, I'll stay. It'll be fine, I'll see you soon."

They all hesitantly agreed before they melted a hole in the bottom of the van and slid out, leaving Connor with the unconscious guard. As the cars stopped, Connor sat on the bench as the doors slid open. She looked over at the angry and confused agents.

"Hi guys, sorry, the rest have popped out to get some groceries." The man snarled and shot his gun at her, and it hit the same spot where he had hit before. Connor snarled and the man smirked.

"Let's go and get you put down."
