Zombie War
The units dispersed along the front line. Overall there were three battlefields:
One in the desert, covered by the fourth division, one in the forest, defended by the third. The rocky area north of them was held by the second while the first dig in at the beaches facing the enemy.
The defenses at the beach consisted of different nests manned by large and heavy machine guns. Additionally the battleships had their weapons trained for direct fire support from the distance.
The forest was reinforced by the fifth division of samurai and SpecOpsNinja, as fire support would not be efficient in the woods. Gunships supported the second division while the fourth could call on heavy artillery which was also the last line of defense for the Daimyos.
Kakashi and Zabuza stopped their division. In front of them, in a neat line, were the other swordsmen of the mist. Haku formed mirrors to engage the dead. She knew that it would be hard for Zabuza to fight his deceased friends. The SEAL team, that was placed with them in the last minute, cocked their weapons. "Cobra and Apache choppers are en route. They will provide fire support in five mikes."
Gaara pulled the fingers from his eye. "Four enemies, all kage of the previous generations."
He waved. Temari was surprised. "An attack already?" Next to her Erik nodded. He contacted the 8th. "Elephant, this is Cobra 1-1. Requesting Fire support. Possible Danger close. Coordinates will be relayed, area of targeting is west of the fourth division."
In the back the barrels were lifted. At the same time the battleships and planes got ready to fire roughly at the area they expected the enemy.
Then the Intel and Sensory squads detected something. "We are sensing movement along the coast. These white plant things along with.. dear Kami. Ninja. A lot of ninja." On the battlefield the shock was even worse as the shinobi recognized their fellow deceased comrades. Only the marines immediately sprung into action. Coordinates were relayed and fire opened. The loud chatter broke the shinobi out of their trance and they engaged the enemy.
At the same time Gaara finally lay his eyes on his father. "Gaara?" the son watched his father. "So we meet. You will not harm my friends." "You and friends?" the fourth kazekage asked surprised. The last time he had seen his son, it was a scorn, sworn to kill anyone who got too close.
Shikaku watched the real-time relay on the AWACS. Such modern aid was really useful. As the strategist, he needed to know what happened on the battlefield. Currently, it didn't look good, as Darui's division got a lot of Edo Tensei Ninja attention. Kitsuchi had an equally large force.
"The third division can handle the swordsmen on their own. Mifune is to pull his unit out and flank Kitsuchi's enemies." He turned to one of the radio operators. "Tell Dairui's support to start firing here." He pointed at the end of the forces in the water. "And they are to shoot close with each time until the marines tell them to stop." He turned around to speak to another operator. "The fourth division has to distract their enemies. Do not let them reinforce their own lines." The map updated itself as units began to move. Voices filled the plane as requests were relayed to the appropriate unit.
"Rhino 2, Goliath 1 has requested Danger Close fire mission. Target area will be marked with orange smoke."
"Butcher three, Permission granted. The Eclipse is waiting for your return."
"Twilight, fire four missiles on direction Two-Eight-Seven."
Darui opened with his black lightning. Overall his division was working well. The AA-tanks took out a lot of the white Zetsus when they jumped to attack. Additionally, the machine guns mowed down the surviving ones, so the shinobi had a lot less to fight. For now, the pressure was fine, but he knew that they had to take out the strong ninja like the twins Ginkaku and Kinkaku. On his left, a Marine took a kunai into his helmet. The commander jumped over and cut the enemy down, giving the sealing squad an opening to capture the ninja. Suddenly, he noticed a shadow on his uncovered side. He spun around barely fast enough to block the strike. But the large ninja pulled back his fist. The cloud ninja needed both hands to kept the large weapon from smashing him. Then, bullets shredded though the man, tearing him apart. A scroll wrapped around him and a seal tag appeared. The previously fallen marine reloaded his shotgun and stood up. The kunai was still stuck in his helmet. The soldier simply ripped it out and threw it back into the mass of white zetsus. "Take that, you zombies!" he shouted. But not all soldiers kept their calm. On another part of the front, TenTen came across a completely desperate soldier. He stood in the middle of his fallen comrades' corpses. "Get away from me!" TenTen tried to calm him. "You need to fight back or they will get you for sure." She felt silly to make such an obvious statement. "But they will kill us all." Then, another soldier slid into the trench. "Allen! I need you to focus! I know you are fresh from the academy, but now do what you can do best! Show them what happens if you mess with the marines. Take revenge for your friends. Oorah?"
"Oorah, Sir!"
With fresh determination, Allen picked up the large machine gun and started to fire back. "If I have to die, I'll make sure to take a lot of them with me!" The other woman fired her sniper rifle before checking on TenTen. "Your squad is over there. You should go over there and help them. We will hold this position." On the word, two more marines jumped down the cliff and started shooting.
On the other side of the peninsula, the fight in the desert waged on. The kage kept dodging the attacks. Gaara's sand had managed to capture his father while the Tsuchikage had thrown his former master away from the battlefield. The Rangers moved to engage the Raikage. Their armor could deal with the lightning, rendering it useless against them. However, his taijutsu was still stronger than them.
"We need to find that venus mussle! This one is fake!" Erik nodded and jumped back to avoid a nasty blow to his head. "Rangers! Pull back! Switch to thermal and look for the thing!"
As soon as the Rangers broke contact, the ninja took over. Earth jutsus were the most effective to stop the Raikage. Then McCord shouted across the field. "I've got it! Relaying coordinates now!"
The Gunner of Elephant Three received the coordinates first. Instantly he fired his HEAT round, while Elephant Two fired an armor piercing one. Elephant One had an Air-Burst round, but fired nevertheless. The HEAT round missed, but the explosion was strong enough to throw the summon against a rock where it was showered with sand, making it visible. The Air-Burst round exploded higher, raining smaller bomblets onto it, shattering a part of the outer shell. The mussel rolled back onto its belly, but just then, the AP stung. It pierced the outer shell, smashed its inner organs and exited through the bottom into the earth. With the mussel gone, Gaara used the heat from the kage in combination with his father's gold to seal him into a golden egg.
Above the Battlefield designated as Area A Naruto looked down at the now raging mini Kyuubi. Darui had managed to seal one of the cloud twins, but the second had unleashed his rage. With a war cry he jumped out of the hatch. The loading master looked out and then to the two rear gunners. "Did he have a chute?" Both shook their head. "I don't think so."
He is all yours, Kurama, Naruto thought as he descended through the clouds. He felt his body dissolve, as the red chakra didn't just surround him, but actually formed a corporeal fox. The fox grew and with her size her tails grew in numbers too. With a heavy boom Kurama landed in the water, sending waves in all directions before she continued to grow. She kept her size just as large as Kinkaku. Now look who we have here. I think you have something that belongs to me!
The frightened Shinobi were perplexed when the fox demon attacked others, and actually protected them. The Marines pulled back, which was a wise decision, as the two demons trashed the beach. Kurama tore into Kinkaku. Compared to humans he might be a demon. But he had only a fragment of what power she had. Sealing with pure chakra was one of them. She grew more and took a bite. Ripping his head, off she swallowed him. Bright light emitted until she released a burp. Tasty little one. This time you stay in there. Her snicker was heard across the battlefield. She continued to unleash her power onto the other zombie-ninja.
Kankuro thought he was going to die. He had led his squad directly into an ambush by no one other than Hanzo the salamander. The antidote the samurai had brought was burning through him. One of them had slug him across his shoulders and carried him back to the safety of the group. A team was already waiting to use summons to get him to the medical camp. Mifune wielded his katana carefully. After all, the blade was an extension of himself. Now it was time to test himself against Hanzo again. "Now let's see who of us has lost his faith." as he crossed his weapon with the salamander warrior.
Along with Kakashi's unit, pressure had been lifted when a plane had dropped the Uchiha brothers and Kisame. The three Sharingan countered the five swordsmen with the help of Haku's ice bloodline limit and Zabuza's and Kisame's experience. It did help a lot that the SEAL team was able to see in the mist with their thermal sights. They each had a member of the sealing squad with them to guide them towards the zombies. "NOW!" Frank Davis shouted. He and his team opened fire to give the sealing squad an opening to seal. The returning Sai quickly painted a large lion which pulled another swordsman into his scroll. "Two down, three to go." The three remaining swordsmen retreated and regrouped, forming a line to keep the ninja away from them.
Shikaku held onto a terminal as the AWACS performed evasive maneuvers. A small squad had attacked them, but the barrage of the escort had downed them. However, the attacks had been directly heading for the An-225. He looked back onto the tactical map. Since the Kyuubi had arrived on Battlefield A the tide had turned. Having eliminated their enemies, the ninja along with the demon moved west towards the second division while the Marines retreated. Reports spoke of 75% losses.
"This is the 666th. We are pulling out to treat out wounded and regroup. We will call in as soon as we are deployable." "Copy that." An operator replied. "Warthog seven, cover their retreat. As soon as the ground is clear, send the bombers in."
Shikaku and the Raikage looked at the reports from the other battlefield. Tsunade had left for the hospital ships to help. "Kakashi's division is nearly finished. The zetsus are being beaten and the swordsmen are down to three." A was impressed. "Also, the fourth division has taken nearly all kage of the previous generations out."
"Report from the fifth division!" an operator shouted. Shikaku immediately went over to look at the screen. "Hanzo has been reported as sealed. They are now circling back to trap the enemy forces. The Uchiha brothers have left the third division and are going after the enemies HQ."
Shikaku and A shared a look. "We might actually end this war soon."
Night fell. The ninja retreated into their camps, protected by the soldiers, who were keeping watch with Thermal and infrared vision. Small teams were dispatched to keep a safe perimeter. In a small command vehicle Erik punched the table. "You mean we have to round up this war within the next 24 hours?" "No. We have to make sure they work together. Their trust in each other is better than it was before the war, but they still are not close enough. For now it is just us, that keeps them together. Gaara and Naruto are slowly taking over, but still we have to make sure they are completely united." "How do we tell them?" "At the last moment."
Erik nodded. The Cobra units were already drawn back. The Marines had retreated along with the battlegroups. Only the 13th platoon remained to assist as a spear head. But also they were reduced to the pure infantry. The armored division would leave tomorrow.
So far, the Shinobi Alliance had been victorious. But how long would their streak of luck hold?
