AN: I don't really have much to say here except for one thing; watch out, more thinking in this chap than actual dialogue. Well then, you should start reading.
Mark may have been evil, but upon finding Ashley, it was clear that she was still his sister. She was in a small stream, face up with a rock under her to keep her from going under. The water protected her from the flames, but the nurse advised for her to stay overnight to check if the smoke damaged her lungs first thing the next morning. She was obviously just a decoy for him to get away. Alex demanded to be checked in to the infirmary so that he could watch over her. The nurse refused, saying that it's a recovery ward and not a hotel. Alex replied by grabbing the nearest syringe and injecting himself with the unknown chemicals inside.
Alex gave a victorious smile before foaming at the mouth and convulsing. The nurse chased the rest of the elites out and they made their way home, tired after a golden opportunity to take out a general bore no fruit. Cleaver went to Maka's office to report his own findings. They were long passed the actual report when a crash was heard down the hall. Thanks to all the training with Soul, Cleaver was the first to react and charged out of the office (not bothering to open the door) and down the hallway to the source.
He came upon a terrified nurse and a ruined infirmary. He asked the nurse what happened but she just rambled at an incredibly fast pace. Cleaver saw the DTWMA symbol carved into a wall and pointed at it. "Who carved that?" he asked. The nurse gave it one look and began to scream in pain. She threw her head back and covered her eyes. Cleaver could do nothing but stare in horror as blood started flowing from her face. The nurse effectively clawed her own eyes out before anyone could stop her. A few minutes after they tried to help her, she was pronounced dead due to a massive heart attack.
The DTWMA claimed its first victim of the academy, to add insult to injury, Ashley and Alex have disappeared and are now considered hostages. Maka was furious to say the least. She called all of the elites back to her. And annoyed and uninformed group slouched into the office, unaware of the missing door. Their mood changed from tired to enraged after the news was given. Kyle and Victoria were angry at themselves for not killing Mark, Benjamin was angry for wasting time by wrestling with Cleaver, Keira was angry that her best friend was taken from her and Cleaver couldn't get the image of the nurse gouging at her eyes out of his head.
They needed no order to do so, they had reason enough to begin their counter attack. But Keira soon realised her lack of weapon. Before she could even mention it, Maka pointed at Cleaver. "You two are totally compatible. You seem to have a sort of bond that reminds me of my own with Soul. Heck, I'd usually even go as far as to say that you two are practically perfect for each other, but I've seen the friendship he has with his weapon meister and that's what's stopping me." Maka said. Soul, Keira and Cleaver simultaneously blushed.
"Do we really have an option?" Keira asked. "Not really, I'd be your weapon if you don't mind." Cleaver answered. "We have to try." She said. Cleaver nodded in agreement. "Before we do this, I have to warn you, I'm heavy." He said. a bright light engulfed him and he assumed his hammer form. Ever since his thunder god mode was activated, some of the Norse symbols seemed to stay behind even in his normal form, including the symbol of Mjolnir and Odin's horn*
Soul and Maka both noticed but received an "I know." before they could mention it. Keira, meanwhile seemed to be in awe. "You okay, Keira? You seem a little shocked." Cleaver asked in a concerned tone. "I just expected heavier. You're actually light." Keira remarked. Before Cleaver could take it as an insult, Maka jumped in to explain the situation with Alex and that she's been used to heavy weapons without knowing it.
Keira took Cleaver for a test run and found that she could use him similarly to Alex. This was good. After Keira was done, Maka turned to the rest of the elites. "So, where will you strike at the enemies first?" Maka asked. "The plans haven't changed. We still head for the black forest in Germany." Benjamin answered. "Good, then I want you to pack your backs with only the necessities for tomorrow. Your stay won't be long." Maka said. The group left the academy for the second time in what seems to have become a long night.
Everybody went home and thought long and hard about the next day, they knew that their survival, nevermind their quick return home would be guaranteed. Everyone had their own thoughts and conflicts residing within them.
Benjamin:
They went too far! They took my allies away from me! First my own mother and father and now a teammate, a part of my new family! The amount of hurt that I'm gonna put them in is gonna be unimaginable. Vulture, mark my words; you and everyone you associate yourself with will suffer.
The twins:
Benjamin seems really tense. His self declared rival will materialise before him pretty soon, so it's pretty understandable to be honest. This is important to him so we need to step up and really be the best we can be for our brother.
Kyle:
They took a brother from me, they murdered an innocent in the process and endangered Victoria more than once before. Is it personal? Hell yeah it is! Will I show mercy? They don't deserve it.
Victoria:
They're ruining everything! Today was my chance, I've waited so long for today and then HE showed up. I hate that guy, calling me red and being so smug. I could just kick his face in. I left home for a better environment, to escape everything. I did not leave to sit with this crap!
Keira:
MY BEST FRIEND! They took my best friend. I'm pissed as hell! I wonder if he's okay? Oh, I hope he's okay. It's a good thing I have Cleaver as a weapon. We resonate easier and he feels lighter. For the first time in my life, I'm using a normal weapon... well not exactly normal but- I'm over thinking. I should go sleep.
Cleaver:
I saw that look before. The look in her eyes was pure desperation. She wanted to escape, but from what? I should be used to this. I've seen people die and lose limbs before, it comes with the territory, so why is this one so hard to shake off? Was it because she was innocent? Is it because her death is unjustifiable by her field of work? That's got to be it, weapons and meisters know that the job is dangerous and our foes are evil. Maybe that's why the death of a nurse, a protector of life is bothering me. I guess it doesn't matter, all that matters is how many skulls I'm able to crush to comfort her family...
The team gathered at the class on the morning of departure. When Angela heard that a witch hunt would take place, she demanded a quick session before she the team left. She explained several things to them like witches being extremely powerful magic users, witches usually act in traits similar to the animal they base their magic on and their biggest weakness, their ego. Angela stressed the fact that their ego could be their downfall since witches were too proud to back down.
The group left, hoping to make use of these tips in some way or another. Just a few days ago, they were sure about what they had planned to set out to do. Now they don't know whether they're going on a recovery mission or a rescue mission. They were unsure whether they would face a witch and even be able to see Alex or Ashley again. The thought was too much to dwell on, so the group emptied their minds and climbed into the little plane that would later have them parachuting and landing near the forest.
*These are symbols I looked up
How I made Alex and Keira:
Alex is a real life friend and a real life pervert with real life lack of romance... this being said, he's been dating the same girl for almost two years now (They started just before I started the story) so props to him.
Keira was actually just a mix and match of parental traits. I didn't really think much of her until recently when I actually decided to put some effort into her characteristics etc.
AN: Yeah, this chapter ended kinda darkly... sorry about that I suppose. A few things; I have yet to decide if my one shot, "Victoria's secret" will be "fun" or serious... in other words I'm at a grand total of zero words there and you may have noticed that I no longer post weekly on a Friday, that is because the life of a student is a busy one, so I type when I can. Lastly, shoutout to "NoSymmetry" for the fav and follow. The legion is growing... Well, until next time, the republican out!
