IT'S BAAACK! Finally. A lot of it had to do with me and the fact that I was REALLY scared about screwing up the Angel vs Charlotte match. Then the thing with Roman happened and that made me feel super duper bummed out. But yeah, gotta send a thanks to Dean's Country Angel who helped me out with this chapter! Thanks so much!

Chapter 37: SummerSlam 2013
It was finally the night of SummerSlam. Angel was more nervous then she had ever been going into a match. She had trained every day before shows and every night afterwards. She had even been able to get Kristy to train with her. It hadn't been easy to get Kristy to agree to it, but Angel had managed to convince her to do it. Kristy had realized that training with Angel wasn't so bad and they were actually good training partners. Both of the girls realized that if it ever came down to it, they could put on a really good match. Now, everyone was sitting in the locker room. Everyone could tell that Angel was nervous.
"So, are you ready for this?" Kristy asked her friend.
"I guess" Angel said.
"What's up, Ang? Normally you're not this nervous. Usually I'm the one pacing back and forth and you have to calm me down" Kristy said, watching her friend walk back and forth.
"Normally I'd be really excited for a match like this, but all I am is nervous. If I screw this up..." Angel started.
"You will not screw this up. No way in the darkest part of whatever stair cases you're trying to hide in" Kristy said.
"I know, but what am I going to do if I lose? I can't lose" Angel said.
"If I didn't know better, I'd think Uncle Taker was lecturing you" Kristy said.
"I'm not doing anything. Angel's putting pressure on herself" Taker said.
"Ang, you won't lose. Trust me" Kristy said with a smile.
"I hope not" Angel said.
"Baby girl, why are you so nervous? This is not like you. At all" Taker said.
"I guess it's just because it's Charlotte Flair. She's talented despite her horrible attitude and...well, better than me anyway" Angel said.
"Oh, please..." Kristy said.
"What? She is! She's more talented than I am" Angel said.
"OK. One, Charlotte isn't that talented. Two, she's a Flair, need I say more on that? Three, her father taught her to play dirty. And four, Ric is the dirtiest player in the game. I mean, hello" Kristy said.
"I guess you're right. At least Ric will be banned from ringside so that's a thing. I just..." Angel said.
"You've put all this pressure on yourself. Just do what you always do, Angel. Go out there and do your best" Nattie said.
"Yeah! You can do it, Aunt Angel. Charlotte's just an entitled brat!" Wyatt said.
"Wyatt Owen James Hart-Smith" Kristy said.
"What?" Wyatt said.
"He's right you know" Lea said.
"Lea Ann Calaway!" Taker and Angel said at the same time.
"You know...they're right. Charlotte can be an entitled brat" Bayley said.
"Still, they don't need to say it" Kristy said.
"Anyway, our point is that you've got this, Angel. Charlotte might be good, but you were trained by the Brothers of Destruction and the Harts. Not only that, but you have humanity, integrity and you're humble which Charlotte has none of" Becky told her.
"Charlotte is one of those who thinks that because she's a second generation superstar, she's entitled to things" Nattie said.
"And before you point out that you're second generation, you've never used me to get anywhere. All I did was grant my permission for you to start two years before you were legally allowed. Other than that, it's been all you, baby girl. And you don't walk around here like you own the place" Taker said.
"That's very true" Kristy and Nattie said in stereo.
"You guys are right. I guess I'm just overreacting a bit. This is kinda a big deal" Angel said.
"Charlotte is no big deal. She's just another match" Kristy said.
"I think the thing I'm nervous about is her finding a way to cheat despite Daddy not being there. I'm not gonna put it past her" Angel said.
"She can't do it" Nattie said.
"Charlotte knows if she cheats, she'll have hell to pay. No matter what, there's only one person she's scared of" Kristy said.
"Besides that, remember what Steph said, that if Charlotte cheats, she loses the title and if anyone interferes, said person will be suspended for thirty days?" Taker said.
"I remember" Angel said.
"So all your bases are covered, Ang. You literally have nothing to worry about" Kristy said.
"You're right. I'm just...this is nerve wracking for some reason" Angel said.
Just then, the door opened and Roman and Dean walked in. Roman gave Lea a hug and then kissed Angel. Dean hugged Wyatt and gave Kristy a kiss. Then they looked around.
"Roman, will you please talk some sense into your girlfriend?" Bayley said.
"Why? What's going on?" Roman asked.
"She is having a major case of pre-match jitters. To the point where her confidence is kind of shaky" Nattie said.
"Angel, remember we told you that if something goes wrong we have a Plan B" Dean said.
"No! I told you no Plan B. I swear, this is what happens if I let him hang out with Uncle Owen too long" Kristy said.
This made everyone, including Angel laugh. She felt better. She had calmed down somewhat, but was still nervous. Kane and Taker could see it in Angel's face as she resumed walking back and forth. Then Kane got an idea. When Angel walked by him again, he put a hand on her shoulder. She stopped and turned around.
"What?" She asked.
"I think I can fix this. Or at least help you a little. Sit down on the couch, close your eyes and cross your legs like you're meditating" Kane directed.
Angel looked at him confused, but did as he directed. Everyone else looked from Kane to Angel and back again, feeling confused. However, they were sure that Kane knew what he was doing and therefore did not object or say anything.
"Now what?" Angel asked.
"Close your eyes and think of everything that Charlotte has said and done in the last little while. Get angry" Kane said.
"Hang on. Your idea is to make Angel angry deliberately?" Roman asked.
"There's more to it than that, Roman" Taker said.
"I...don't like being angry" Angel snapped at no one in particular.
"I know you don't like being mad, Little Angel, but there's a method to my madness here" Kane said.
"How come she doesn't like getting mad?" Dean asked.
"She's got my temper and it...well, it doesn't scare her, but..." Taker started.
"It makes her aggressive. She lashes out and it's so against her personality that she doesn't like getting mad and it takes a lot to make her mad. Charlotte has done that" Kristy said.
"OK. Um...let's get this over with. Aunt Angel's clearly not enjoying herself at the moment" Wyatt said.
"Right. Little Angel, I know you can do this because it's happened before, but take your rage and channel it into your powers" Kane said.
Angel nodded. Everyone watched her wearily. In the past when Angel had channelled her anger and/or rage into her powers, it usually ended with damage to the room they were in or someone getting hurt. This time, however, a light surrounded her. It was dim at first, but soon it grew so bright that no one could see her anymore. She looked just like a pillar of light sitting there.
"Wow. I can sense that. I don't think I've ever sensed that much power coming from her before" Kristy said.
"That light is so bright" Roman said.
"My eyes hurt" Lea said.
"Alright, Little Angel. Try and calm yourself down. Only keep your powers active without anyone noticing" Kane said.
"I'll try" Angel said quietly.
Everyone watched as Angel tried to calm herself down. It took a little while, but eventually the light disappeared and for all intents and purposes, Angel looked normal. Then she opened her eyes and everyone noticed that they were a brighter green.
"Oh, my God! Is...that normal?" Dean asked.
"Usually that only happens when she has a flashback. The more intense her flashback the brighter her eyes get" Taker said.
"Um...aren't people going to notice that her eyes changed colour?" Roman asked.
"Maybe" Kristy said.
"Little Angel, how do you feel?" Kane asked.
"Strangely calm" Angel said.
"OK. Other than that" Kane said.
"I don't feel nervous anymore. I'm ready for Charlotte and I can do this" Angel said.
"Kane, you did it! Aunt Angel's confidence is boosted" Wyatt said.
"Isn't this going to drain her energy?" Kristy asked.
"Only when I come out of it later. I'll make it through the match. Don't panic, Kristy" Angel said.
Kristy nodded. She knew better than to go against Angel's judgment. It was right the majority of the time. She noticed that Roman and Dean were staring at Angel with surprised expressions. She couldn't help but laugh at them.
"What's so funny?" Angel asked.
"Dean and Roman are staring at you with an "Oh, my God! This is crazy" look on their faces" Kristy said.
"They are new to this whole power thing. Maybe I should have warned them beforehand to be prepared for surprises" Angel said, trying to hold in her own laughter.
"It's not the powers that are crazy. It's the fact that you went from extreme pre-match jitters to perfectly fine in the span of a few minutes" Dean said.
"He's right" Roman said.
"You'd better get used to it" Angel said, "My powers do a lot and you're going to see a lot"
Roman and Dean nodded, although both of them wished that Angel had told them this beforehand or at least warned them that things like this could happen. It wasn't that they were afraid, it was just every time they thought they'd seen everything, something new would come up and it was kind of overwhelming.
Later that night, it was almost time for Angel's match. She sighed and stood up. She wasn't feeling nervous now. She was ready for this. She kissed her Mom's wedding ring before removing it and her bracelet and handing them to her father. Then she hugged Lea and Wyatt. Both of them were grinning. Finally, Angel hugged and kissed Roman. Then she put on her hooded overcoat and pulled the hood up.
"We know you don't need it, but good luck" Dean said.
"You're right. I don't need it, but I still appreciate the gesture all the same Deano" Angel said with a grin.
Dean laughed. Angel walked out of the locker room and headed toward Gorilla Position to wait. Charlotte was already on her way to the ring and Stephanie was waiting for Angel.
"Good luck, Angel. Hunter might not want you to be champion, but I do" she said.
"Thanks, Stephanie" Angel answered.
Just then, the familiar gong sounded throughout the arena. Angel stepped through the curtain. As usual, Angel could hear all the young girls and women in the crowd cheering for her and the guys wolf whistling at her. She was used to this now and it made her laugh a little bit inside to think that if they wanted to get to her in any way, they would have to go through two giant brick walls in the form of The Deadman and Roman Reigns.
Angel walked up the steel steps and this time stepped into the ring before rolling her eyes back into her head and taking off her hood. At the same moment, the lights went back to normal. Everyone who was close enough could see the look of sheer determination on her face. Once the ring introductions were over and done with and the bell rang, it was like someone had flipped a switch or pressed a button on Angel's back. She let loose with a barrage of punches that backed Charlotte up into the corner, only letting up when the referee's count got to four.
"And the Dead Girl comes out of the gate swinging" Cole said.
"You would too if someone mouthed off about your family and personal life the way Charlotte did" Byron Saxton said.
"At one point, the Queen was very much in the Dead Girl's head, but now it looks like that has passed and given way to anger. If I were Charlotte I'd be regretting every word" JBL said.
"And I think she is" Cole said.
Back in the ring, Angel was not letting up. She was wrenching Charlotte's arm, getting ready to hit Old School on her. Angel climbed up to the top turnbuckle, but before she could move, Charlotte pulled her off the top rope. The next thing Angel knew, she was bouncing off the mat. Angel just laid there for a minute staring up at the lights. Then she sat up, looking livid. She turned and glared at Charlotte. She was completely careless! If I had landed wrong, I could have ended up right back where I was six months ago. She thought.
Angel got to her feet. Charlotte looked scared. Angel took a few deep breaths. She had to get her temper under control. Charlotte took the opportunity and clotheslined Angel. Then she climbed to the top rope and executed a Moonsault. Angel rolled out the way quickly and Charlotte smacked into the mat. Angel got up and walked over to where Charlotte was laying. She grabbed hold of her arm and then, quick as a flash, locked in Hell's Gate. A few seconds later, Charlotte tapped out. Angel had done it. She was the new WWE Divas Champion.
As soon as the bell rang and Charlotte had left the ring, Angel was surprised to see Dean, Roman, Bayley, Bayley, Kristy and even Lea and Wyatt come running out. They all got in the ring and gave Angel hugs. Then Roman hugged and kissed her, making the male fans boo loudly. Then Dean and Roman surprised her by placing her on their shoulders. Angel held the Diva's Title in the air and the arena exploded. After a few minutes of parading Angel around the ring, they set her back down. Then she left the ring and walked to the top of the ramp, raising her belt in the air before leaving. Then she stepped back through the curtain. Taker was waiting for her. He didn't say anything. He just walked over and gave her a hug. Kane followed suit. Then they headed back to the locker room. Once everyone was inside, Taker shut the door.
"OK, baby girl. Deactivate your powers" Taker said.
"Isn't she gonna pass out if she does that?" Lea asked.
"Maybe. We just have to see" Kane said.
"If she passes out, what do we do?" Roman said.
"Just let me sleep. I'll be good by morning. It just takes a lot of energy for me to keep my powers going this long. I haven't quite hit the level that Daddy and Uncle have. They could have theirs active for a long time before it even starts draining their energy. In all the time I've been with them, I've only seen it happen to Daddy once" Angel said.
"You're sure you'll be OK by morning?" Dean asked, sounding concerned.
"Yes, Dean, I'll be fine by morning. Promise" Angel said.
"Roman, stand behind her in case she ends up falling backwards. We don't want her hitting her head on the floor" Taker said as he stepped in front of Angel.
Roman nodded. He stood behind Angel. Angel sighed and closed her eyes. Everyone watched as the faint glow that had been surrounding her disappeared. Then she opened her eyes again. She felt back to normal.
"Feel back to yourself again, baby girl?" Taker asked.
"Yeah" Angel said.
Then she fell backwards. Roman caught her and scooped her up in his arms. She was asleep already. He looked up at Taker looking worried. He wasn't alone. Dean was worried too.
"She's OK, you two. She just needs rest. By morning, she'll be back to her normal self" Taker told them.
"At least when this happens, she sleeps peacefully" Kristy said.
"Usually. She's probably going to sleep like a rock. That's what usually happens" Lea said.
"I hope you guys are right" Roman said.
"Trust us, Ro. We've seen this before. She'll be fine by morning. Honest" Kristy said.
Roman nodded. Even so, he was determined to make sure Angel got back to the hotel safely. Everyone left and headed back there. When they arrived, he helped get Angel into bed. Kristy took her boots and socks, vest and elbow pads off, leaving Angel in just her pants and tank top. Taker came in. He walked over and kissed Angel's forehead and then tucked Lea in. Roman was unsure of whether or not he should leave. He wanted to stay, but wasn't sure if Taker would be alright with it. However, before he had the chance to speak, Taker spoke up. It was as if the Deadman had read his mind.
"You can stay, Roman. You're clearly worried" he said.
"How...? Never mind. Thanks, Deadman" Roman answered.
Taker nodded. He left the bedroom, closing the door behind him. Roman sighed and laid down in the bed next to Angel. Just then, Lea spoke up, making him jump. He had been so lost in his own thoughts and so focused on Angel that he had forgotten about her.
"Roman...um...you love my sister a lot...right?" she asked him.
"Yes, Lea, I do. I love Angel very much" Roman answered.
"Are you gonna marry her?" Lea asked.
"I...well...maybe someday. When we're both ready" Roman said.
"Good. I want you to be my brother for real" Lea said.
"You do?" Roman asked, feeling surprised by her answer.
"Yes. Angel loves you. I see it. Not only that, but you haven't hurt her. And you really do care about her. David would have left Daddy to handle Angel, but you're staying with her. Plus, you said you'd never take her away from Daddy and me" Lea said.
"Thanks, Lea" Roman said.
"And Daddy and Uncle like you too. At least I think. It's hard to tell sometimes" Lea said.
"Well, given that your Dad didn't kick me out, I think it's safe to say I'm safe" Roman said, chuckling.
Lea laughed at that. Then she told him goodnight and soon after that, she was asleep. Roman laid there for a long time, staring up at the ceiling before finally falling into an uneasy sleep.
That's it for now. Read/Review! I WILL NOT TAKE SO LONG NEXT TIME I SWEAR! Also, DoD: Another Place & Time IS still going. I just have to type out the next chapter and get it up on the site. For now, I will leave it there. Anyway, I love you all! Bye!~Taker's Soul Girl
