After a few fun and light-hearted chapters, I thought it would be time for us to see the darker side of my story. And trust me...it will be dark! Not enough to make me turn it into an M rated story, but still.
It was a dark night in a small village near the Valley of Peace. The moon was full in the black sky, bringing some faint light on the otherwise black landscape. Most of the villagers were asleep by this hour safe for a lonely female pig who was walking by herself in the otherwise empty streets. As her steps echoed in the silence, she failed to notice a dark figure behind her. The sound of metal clinging alerted her but she barely had time to turn around before getting sliced, her blood flying up and tainting the wall.
A young goat happened to pass by at the same moment. She gasped upon seeing the lady pig's corpse laying down on a puddle of blood. But she gasped even more when she saw the murderer turning toward her with a smirk. It didn't look like anything she has ever seen before.
This thing's build is monster-like, with an elongated body, disproportionately long, skinny arms and legs and a strangely profound pot-belly. He was is standing in a crouched position, similar to a predatory animal and has a line of small bumps in his skin going down his spine. He has grey skin and wears a strange-looking outfit similar to a bondage outfit, made up of a few scant straps going across his torso and waist. On the strap around his waist, a black jagged shadow-like plume is attached to either side of his waist. His face is obscured by a mask that looks like it is stitched onto his face, with a pointed conical orange nose, dark angry-looking eye holes (with one eye narrower than the other) and a wide mouth with razor sharp teeth and a long drooling tongue. The ends of his mouth have stitches on them. He has a strange-looking symbol on his forehead. He has a tuft of wild black hair on each side of his head as well as a long lock of hair hanging down on both sides of his face. The most prominent features of this monster are his hands; they seem to be completely replaced by mechanical claw-like appendages. Each metal hand has five long razor-sharp blades that he uses as his primary weapon. These metal hands are attached to thin metal bars that run along his arms and connect to a metal ring around his neck.
The monster formed a smirk on his face as his attention turned to the young goat who immediately screamed and started running away in fear. "HELP! PLEASE! ANYBODY!" The young goat tripped and fell on her face. The monster laughed at this and bounced like a frog all around before landing right in front of her. He rose his claws, ready to claim his second victim of the night.
"OH MY GOSH! WHAT'S THAT THING?!"
The monster stopped before he could kill the young goat. He then turned around to see two figures standing in the same street as him. A white wolf and a visibly terrified panda. The wolf sighed annoyingly as he glanced at his bear friend.
"Po, I already told you not to scream when you first see a Yokai!" Shi Xin said. "It only makes him hungrier, it ruins the surprise effect, and it makes you look like an idiot!"
"Sorry, Shi Xin," Po nervously said with rubbing the back of his head.
The monster turned to see this distraction allowed the young goat to run away. He then looked back at the intruders and growled angrily at them. Shi Xin simply narrowed his eyes defiantly.
"So...this guy's a Yokai right?" Po asked.
"Yes. A monster coming from hell to feast on the living souls," the white wolf explained. "This one is named Jack The Ripper. He is known for primarily hunting females and killing them when no one is watching. He has been escaping most Yokai Hunters due to his capacity to hit fast and disappearing immediately afterward. We're lucky to have been able to locate him in the middle of a crime."
"So what are we doing now?"
Shi Xin smirked. "Why we take him down of course. Just watch the expert at work!"
Jack The Ripper let out a growl and charged at Shi Xin who unsheathed his sword to clash it with the Yokai's claws. The white wolf glared into the monster' abyssal black eyes with his golden ones and growled challengingly as a sign that he was not afraid. Breaking the contact, Jack The Ripper started swinging his claws at Shi Xin who blocked with his sword, the blades sending sparks in the air every time they clashed.
Eventually, the white wolf jumped backward with a moonsault to put some distance between the Yokai and himself and started shooting at him with Lisa and Lana. Jack The Ripper managed to block some of the silver bullets with his claws before some of them pierced his defense and left holes in his body. He instead jumped away and started bouncing on the houses' walls to avoid the Yokai Hunter's shots.
"My chance!" Shi Xin declared and then jumped really high to meet up with the monster and unsheathed his sword to slice him in mid-air. The wolf landed gracefully on his two feet while Jack The Ripper's body landed in two pieces. "Job completed!" he said with pulling his sword back in its sheath in a cool way.
"Wow!" Po said in awe and ran to his friend. "Shi Xin, that was AWESOME! You defeated this monster in one slice!"
Shi Xin smiled. "I ended this monster's madness and sent him back to the other world. May the Gods forgive him for his sins."
"And you defeated a lot of these monsters?" Po asked.
"Yes, many. Not to show-off, but this one was far from being the strongest Yokai I faced." He then looked up at the sky. "And somehow...even Jack The Ripper is meaningless to the danger I feel is about to come...," he thought.
So you finally saw what a Yokai is supposed to look like. If you liked it, brace yourself because the other ones I have in mind are much more worst than this.
Now, for those of you who don't know, Jack The Ripper was the name of a serial killer in London who was known for killing women after seducing them. This explains why he targeted two women in this chapter.
