Chapter 37 – Detach
Detach- disengage
"Sesshomaru."
Both inu and uma turned to see Kagome walking toward them. Her hips swayed enticingly and her eyes held his own.
He offered her a slight smile that made Izanami's jaw drop.
Kagome sauntered up to him and grabbed his arm lightly. "Come. The celebration had started, you are missing it." Her eyes shifted to the horse and turned cold and hard, different from the ones she used on Sesshomaru. "I believe you should return to your beloved." She stressed the word.
With that, she turned back to Sesshomaru and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek, then left the way she came.
The male regarded Izanami with eyes that rivaled Kagome's and bowed shallowly. "I suggest you leave this Sesshomaru before he feels obligated to tell Misu of these events."
Izanami paled and bowed deeply before scurrying after Kagome.
The inu took his time in following the two. He didn't wish to see Misu and the wench so soon, and he was lost in his own thoughts.
Kagome had finally returned. Not only did she return, but Sesshomaru found her in his bed. She never woke him, even though he somehow started cuddling her. He hated to believe it was simply instinct for him.
She helped him with the horse onna, and by doing so, she basically claimed him with her kiss. Any affection of any kind showed to a member of the opposite sex is considered claim in youkai terms. When the claim is done in front of a member of the same sex, it is a subtle challenge of said claim.
Sesshomaru had mixed feelings about it. Or rather, one side of him did. His beast rejoiced in having her claim him. The other, however, didn't know whether to be happy like his beast or angry at her audacity. Either way, it couldn't be taken back.

Sesshomaru walked into the ballroom and nearly sighed. The celebration was already in full swing, despite the day still being young. Many there were dancing, talking, or eating. He yearned once more to be home.
He spotted Kagome across the room just as Misu did. They both made their way to her, the uma arriving first. He bowed deeply before straightening up and giving her his brightest smile. She neither bowed nor smiled at him, which gave the inu lord much satisfaction.
He arrived just as Izanami had, who followed her mate-to-be. Sesshomaru stood beside Kagome as the horses paired themselves.
Kagome inclined her head minutely to them as she regarded them with her cool eyes. "Congratulations," she said stoically.
Sesshomaru never seen her so detached before, not even when they first met one another. It nearly made him uncomfortable.
"Thank you, Lady Kagome. Izanami, perhaps you should show our lord and lady some courtesy." Misu intones, referring to her lack of graciousness.
"My apologies." She mumbles and bowed stiffly. She refused to look at either of the inus.
Not noticing his betrothed's behavior, Misu gave Kagome another smile and held out his hand. "Would you care to dance, milady?"
"Very much so." Kagome replied, ignoring the offered hand. The horse's smile finally faded.
"Come. Let us welcome more of our guests." He muttered to Izanami before sulking off, with said horse behind him.
"Good girl." Sesshomaru murmured without thought.
