Sinful Valentine: I'm not dead! I'm alive! So alive! Ehh, but I could be better! I changed my name, deal with it.
Grey: I get wings to fly. Oh, oh ... I'm alive. Sorry. Her note made me think of that so I had to write it. Props if you know the song. Anyway, I was honestly ready to give up on this fic, but, some of you begged us to continue. So, here it is.
Deidara's P.O.V.
I pulled my car into the school parking lot, hearing the blaring music even with my windows up. I scrunched up my face in disgust, cursing school dances. I swung my door open, the sound intensifying, and the much too loud bass clear.
Shidonii laughed as I spoke. "They have horrible taste in music hm." I went to passenger side to let her out.
"Don't worry Dei." She chirped, stepping out. "Just try to have fun." She pecked me on the cheek and gripped my hand in her clothed one. She tugged me forward, running up the hill to the school, and completely bypassing the stairs. I glanced over at the other students using the more normal method of travel and rolled my eyes as I picked up two of the loudest voices among the other students. Upon reaching the top, my suspicions were confirmed as I spotted Hidan and Aki in some form of heated argument.
'No doubt over something trivial.' I thought. A smirk replaced my annoyed look as I noticed their much calmer dates regarding the discussion beside them. Hinata tapped her fingers together slightly, looking unsure of whether she should be concerned or not. Sasori looked bored as hell, more than likely tuning the younger two out.
"We're here." Shidonii breathed halting to a stop. From our position, you had a clear view of the inside of the school. Decorations lined the walls, seemingly tossed without much care. This years' theme was Superstition and ladders littered the dance floor, salt was haphazardly strewn across the tables, and black cats were loitering about. The dresses ranged from short as fuck too long as hell, and the pastels, neons, and everything clashed horribly.
'No artistic sense anywhere in this room.' I sighed. 'And why on earth are there cats in here?'
Shidonii's eyes were glazed over as she mindlessly led me inside. "It seems so... Serene..." She finally gasped. I turned and looked at her like she had sprouted a second head.
"If your definition of serene is a clusterfuck of sweaty, smelly, horny teenagers grinding on each other un."
"No not them!" She gagged. "I mean, just the thought of it all." She thought aloud.
"What do you mean by that yeah?" I watched as Aki forcefully led Sasori to the dance floor, chuckling at his obvious protests.
"I mean..." She started. "Well I'm not sure actually." She laughed. "I guess with you, everything just seems a little more beautiful." I turned to her, shocked for the second time in only a few short minutes. She was watching Hidan awkwardly dance with Hinata. "Even when Neji and Sakura came, I couldn't stay mad for long. Not with you near." She finally faced me with a content smile. I felt a huge, toothy grin on my face.
"Shidonii..." I started, the rest of my sentence trailing off as I found myself unsure of what to say.
"Well, come on!" She exclaimed, grabbing my hand once more. "Let's dance!" In an instant I found myself near Sasori, Aki, Hidan and Hinata, with Sasuke and Naruto close by.
"Shidonii my love!" Aki hollered in a dramatic tone upon our arrival.
"Yes my dearest?" She answered in the same tone, dropping my hand to clasp Aki's.
"Dance with me?" Aki pleaded.
"I thought you would never ask!" Shidonii cried, wrapping her arm around Aki's shoulder and holding her hand. Aki soon followed, and they were "dancing" so to speak. They giggled as I shook my head and walked off to the side to speak with Sasori. I found him leaning against the wall, a look of annoyance and boredom on his face. As I neared, I could clearly see the hidden amusement in his eyes as he watched his girlfriend.
"We sure know how to choose them..." He commented as they fell to the ground in heap, laughing and playing with one of the black cats.
"Yeah..." I shifted nervously, unsure of how to tell my best friend what I planned to do. He glanced over at me, an eyebrow raised.
"What's with the nerves? Come on, Deidara. It's not like you're proposing to her." He smirked, and my jaw hit the floor. How in the seven hells...?
"Sasuke!" I muttered, realization dawning on me. I never should have told him. I leaned against the wall beside him, crossing my arms in front of me. "Well, now you know, yeah. How should I go about doing this then?"
"Truthfully?" He spoke, averting his eyes from the clumsy duo to me. I quickly nodded yes, eager for him to continue. "I don't think you should do it at all." He paused for a moment. "Think about it. She'll still be here, at Leaf High next year. And though I can hardly believe it, you're graduating this year. You may think she's ready, but she's hardly ten years old at heart. Look at her." He pointed a ways away. I followed his finger, chucking as I saw her and Aki's discarded heels along the way. When I found her, she and Aki were across the dance floor, once more dancing like fools.
"If she's not ready, then I'll wait, and keep asking until she is or until she absolutely cannot stand me. Until I can make sure that no one can hurt her anymore, that I can be the only one to protect her, I won't cave in un." She giggled running past us, the black light hitting the ANBU tattoo on her chest, and the snake bites on her lower lips.
A frown marred Sasori's face as he processed my words. "We have college next year, Deidara. Our lives haven't even begun. I don't understand why you're rushing this." He sighed, seeing my determined look and continued before I could answer. "I figured you wouldn't budge...So, we had something set up for you. Just a warning, though, Aki plans on kicking your ass after this is over." He gave me a grin before walking off to help Aki, who had her hands in her knees breathing heavily. Shidonii now held a cat as she spoke with Sai and Ino.
"Alright ladies and gentlemen! Grab your partner and hold them close!" The DJ shouted, his voice echoing. "Here's to all you crazy lovebirds out there!" His laughter slowly faded as the now more reformed music began to fly into the room.
Shidonii's P.O.V.
I watched as couples began to get together. Lee offered Garra his hand, who accepted timidly. Naruto was already glued to Sasuke's chest, and even Hinata and Hidan were awkwardly tripping over each other's feet. I was interrupted from my thought as I was pulled over to Deidara by Aki.
"May I present you, Lady Shidonii." She spoke stifling a giggle.
"Why thank you Ma'am." He kissed her hand before Sasori took her away. Deidara then offered me his hand which I gratefully accepted, looking into his eye. He kissed my hand as well, and led me skillfully through the conjoined bodies of the dance floor to the center. I felt his arms wind around my waist, and moved my arms up to lay them on his shoulders. We moved slowly, the slow beat of the music creating a much different atmosphere.
"I love you so much." I pulled his face closer to mine. "I've loved you for a long time."
"I feel the same." Deidara closed the distance between us. The kiss wasn't rough, or fast, but it seemed like a bridge almost. He conveyed every emotion through that one kiss. Every ounce of his love only made me wish this could last forever. But alas, all good things must come to an end.
We redundantly pulled back, the lack of air finally making way to our heads. I saw the spotlight had fallen on us and my face instantly lit up.
"I thought you didn't perform well in front of crowds un?" Deidara chuckled.
"Well who was I to guess the whole student body would wind up thinking it was a good idea to watch us kiss?" I exclaimed, causing the kids around us to laugh, thus causing my face to turn into an even deeper shade of red.
"Alright kiddies!" The principle strode onto the stage, pieces of paper in his hands. Everyones attention averted from us to him. "It's time to announce this year's candidates for Prom Queen and King!" I cheered alongside my fellow students as he continued, glancing over to see Aki rolling her eyes in disgust. "First, we have Aki Uchiha and Sasori Tsukimono!" I grinned.
"FUCK YEAH!" I shouted aloud.
"Oh fuck no!" She shouted, fighting against Sasori's hold as he pulled her toward the stage. I giggled as I watched Hidan break down into a fit of laughter.
"Next, we have Sakura Haruno and Neji Hyuga!" A louder applause was heard for them. I scowled. Damn pretty boy and his prissy bitch.
"And last, but certainly not least, we have Shidonii Hikari and Deidara Sakka!" I was limp as Deidara helped me to the stage. We stood in the center, with prissy and pretty to our left-where both of us were hindered in sight- and Aki and Sasori to our right. "So vote for your favorite pair now!" The sound of feet shuffling to the voting area filled the room. A little kitten came onto the stage. I picked it up and worriedly watched the students. All this seemed too good to be true. After what seemed like forever, the principle made his way back to the stage.
"Well it, seems the votes are in!" Everything was casted digitally, on Ipads of the schools. Our names were projected on the screen. "Let's see the outcome!" The crowd roared in anticipation. The bargraph began to haphazardly go up and down, randomly stopping. Ours was first, with thirty four percent of the votes. Next, pretty and prissy with fifteen percent. That left Aki and Sasori with fifty one percent of the votes. Half of the entire school voted for them. I smiled as Aki's expressions shifted between shock and disgust.
"We have our winners! Aki Uchiha and Sasori Tsukimono!" Everyone cheered, but I personally screamed in delight and hugged Aki.
"You're Prom Queen! You won over that prissy bitch!" I exclaimed.
"Kill me. Just kill me now, Shidonii."
"No can do, love!" I laughed at my best friends lack of enthusiasm. "It's every girls dream to be Prom Queen, even when they're as tomboy as you." I grinned at her half glare.
"First, the prom Queen and King shall crown the runner ups, Shidonii and Deidara!" Aki placed a small tiara on my head with a small smile. Sasori laughed as he placed a smaller version of his own crown on Deidara's head. I placed my hand in his offered one, ready to dance again. He led me off of the stage and to my confusion, out of the school.
"Deidara?" I asked, glancing up at him. He remained quiet, his jaw tense as he led us to the back of the school. I frowned, a million thoughts racing through my brain, trying to imagine what he was doing. Him pulling me to a stop finally broke my train of thought. Glancing up, I gasped at the scene in front of me. We were in the courtyard behind the school, and the trees were decorated with hundreds of white lights. It was so bright and beautiful compared to the dark atmosphere within the school itself. I turned to face him, grinning at the blush that quickly spread across his cheeks. "What's all this?"
He rubbed the back of his neck nervously before taking my hands in his own larger ones. "Shidonii…"
'Don't tell me you planned to propose to that traitor." A voice of to the side sneered, "Honestly, you'll just make a fool of yourself."
My eyes widened in surprise at the words. 'Purpose? Is that what's going on?' Pushing my surprise to the back of my mind when I remembered we weren't alone, I quickly looked over to see Neji leaning against a tree. He had his arms crossed and a sinister look on his face. Pushing himself away from the tree, he casually walked towards us, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Her name isn't even Shidonii, its Migoto." He grinned wickedly. My breath caught in my throat, knowing where he was going with this.
"N-neji!" I yelled, panic gripping my chest. "Don't do this."
"Neji. That's enough." I whipped around at the sound of Sasuke's voice. He stood off to the side, Naruto beside him, glaring at the pale boy in front of me. I swallowed nervously, seeing Aki standing beside the pair, gripping Sasori's shirt tightly. If she found out about everything, it'd be all over. I began to shake violently, unsure of what to say. I knew I had to go, to escape the truth. I struggled at against Deidara's now iron grip on my hands.
"Migoto..." Deidara mumbled under his breath. "That name sounds familiar un..." He bowed his head in thought, still gripping me as I tried to escape.
"As some of you may recall, Migoto was the girl who backed me up in my court case." Neji explained, stopping behind Deidara. "Shidonii Hikairi is Migoto Hyuuga." Neji whispered in Deidara's ear.
He had whispered just loud enough for the others to hear, and I watched as looks of pain and betrayal crossed Aki's face. I broke free of Deidara and blindly ran back through the school, desperate to get away. Neji was my cousin, I bailed him out of jail when he raped Aki! Why? Because I'm a dumbass and really thought I could change him. I can't change a damn thing though. I can't change the fact that I drove my own mother away, that I freed a monster, I'm a walking disaster! I ran faster, my thoughts and self-loathing quickly consuming me again.
I ripped off my damnable heels and threw them back at any who dared to follow me. I pushed my way out of the front of the school and toppled down the slick grass, my blind sorrow numbing any and all pain. I heard faint cries- maybe Deidara and Hidan?- but gave them no thought. Right now I had to escape the past, escape the fate that was crumbling upon me.
I ran for what seemed like hours, but could have very well been minutes. I collapsed in a heap in a seemingly unfamiliar area. It was far darker than I remembered when I escaped, and I whimpered realizing I was all alone is an unknown territory with no clue which way I came from. I suddenly wished Deidara was here with me, but shook my head. He was much too good for me. All of them were. I deliberately released the monster who ruined my best friends' life on more than one occasion
"I deserve to just rot here..." I mumbled, stepping forward right into a big tree. Or what I assumed to be a tree.
"Shidonii...?" The tree cried, picking me up with one of its limbs. How nice of the tree, it seems so worried even if we just met.
"Don't worry, , m'okay..." I mumbled, curling tightly to its warmth.
Deidara's P.O.V.
I had to believe every bit of Neji's words, seeing how Shidonii up and ran off like that. So when she finally stopped I was ready to get some answers out of her. But she was completely dazed, and fell right into my arms. I looked down at her face, seemingly scrunched up in pain. I sighed, it hurt to see her like this. I really did love her. But how could I stay with her when she-she-
I stopped that train of thought. I would leave Shidonii at her house, and leave. No goodbyes, those were too painful. "I want to love you, I want to protect you yeah." I sighed absentmindedly brushing a piece of her hair back. "But I can't do that if you're on your own road of self-destruction un." I approached her doorstep and walked in wordlessly. I saw Hidan had gone ahead, standing on the porch and explaining the situation to her father.
"It was bound to happen sooner or later..." Tobi sighed. "I'm just sorrry that Neji had to be the one to tell you, and not Shidonii herself. You have to understand how much she wantted the old Neji back..." Tobi sighed shaking his head. "They were very close as children."
"Just like with Sasuke..." I mumbled, looking down at the girl in my hands.
"She has trouble accepting the past." He explained. "I'm sorry to hear that you all chose to leave her side, but I'm sure she'll understand." Tobi gave a wry smile. 'Leave her..?' I thought, again. Could I really do such a thing? Memories began to flash through my memory, every tear, smile, and laugh. I tightened my hold on her, realizing how important those memories were to me.
"W-wait!" I all but yelled, effectively catching the occupants' attention. "I want to help her un." I decided. "I love Shidonii and promised I would protect her hm." Tobi nodded a small smile on his lips.
"You do realize what this means, Deidara?" Hidan commented, his tone deep and calm.
"Yeah, tell Aki I'm sorry, I just can't leave her alone." I turned away from Hidan's pained face. I knew Aki was more than likely as much of a mess as Shidonii, and would no doubt put the friendship through the shredder. There was no way Sasori would leave her side, nor would Sasuke. Our group of friends was being torn in two. "See ya barbie..." Hidan called from the door, giving me one last glance before stepping out to the brisk night.
I looked down to Shidonii who was stirring in my arms. Nowhere near awake, but talking, no, mumbling, in her sleep. "M'sorry... all I've done..." She suddenly screamed out. I held her close to me, trying my best to calm her.
"I'll stay by your side Shidonii. Through hell and highwater un..." I whispered, giving her temple a ghost of a kiss. She whimpered and pulled surprisingly hard on my dress shirt. "I vow to."
Sin: So, this was a little late... *waits for random kunai and chairs to be thrown at her* But hey, its done, right? And SHOULD post it tonight the uhm... 5th! So I hope it isn't too terribly thrown together and rushed... Anywho A NEW JOURNEY BEGINS in the thrilling final story in our saga... Goodbye, Leaf High
Grey: That's a lie. I have an epilogue on Aki's POV set before I start the next story. I also plan to rewrite both the stories in the hopes of fixing some mistakes and helping the story flow better. Honestly, I'm not happy with how it is. At all. Anywho, it Is the seventh of August, almost the eighth, anyone know what that means? It means Otakon. That's right, boys and girls, I will be attending Otakon this weekend August 8th-11th. So more than likely you won't see the epilogue until I get back and recover. Toodles.
