Authors note: Thank you thank you thank you for staying with this story! I know I've said it a lot but I can't express how grateful I am I won't be finishing this story without readers. Anyway hopefully you'll like this chapter as well. Have a great day everyone.

And the story begins….

Reseme sighed tiredly finally finishing up the last of the stitches and brewing a medicine to help with Mordred's pain. She gave it to him making sure he drank all of it. She had just begun to get up when he grabbed her hand. 'Please stay.' It was silent as neither sibling were quite sure when the others would return. 'Okay, I promise.' She laid down with him on the small cot smiling as he curled up next to her. 'Goodnight Mordrid.' With a kiss to his head he was out.

She stayed a good hour watching him breathe, trying to see if the medicine was working. She could only hope and pray it would take effect. If not they would have to get Gaius involved and he had made it quite clear to her before that he wanted nothing to do with her past…well or anything that would cause either of them jail time…this probably most definitely counted. She shook the though off trying to focus on her brother. He was all that mattered now.

Merlin made his way through the castle trying not to alert any of the guards as he made his way to Morgana's room to check on the boy.

He would never admit it out loud

And he struggled to admit it to himself

But he was also worried about a certain brunette who had failed to make it to her room.

It was 3 in the morning

She should have been back by now

Of course as soon as he thought of her

His blood boiled with anger

How could she not tell him something so important!

Something so major in her life!

Did she not trust him?

Did she just not want him to know?

As much as he wanted to believe her intentions were good

He just couldn't.

If she cared about him as much as cared for her wouldn't she have said something!

Plus why hadn't the boy called for Reseme?

Why had he gotten his attention?

How did Reseme not know they were here?

This was her family they were talking about

He shook the thoughts off as he entered the room not wanting to alert anyone.

He saw Morgana asleep in her bed

He assumed Gwen must have gone home

He walked towards the boy hoping not to wake him

He frowned seeing the hunched over figure of someone

Moving closer and moving the hair out of her face he found the one person he really didn't want to talk to.

Reseme

He sighed pondering over what he should do

Once making sure the boy was safe and wasn't struggling

He gently picked up the girl he had begun to think of as family

And walked back to their home

He laid her on the bed and put a blanket over her

Why is it that even in his most angry state

This girl always managed to soften him heart?

Reseme frowned as she woke up in her own bed. 'Did I come back here myself?' She shook it off deeming it wasn't important before heading out to do her morning chores. She was just about to walk out the door when an idea popped in her mind. It didn't take her too long but by the time she was done making the extravagant breakfast Merlin had just walked out of his room. His hair was disheveled and the bags under his eyes were quite prominent. He frowned walking slowly towards the breakfast laid out of the table before glancing up at her quickly before finding something else to look at. "I'm not very good at apologizes but I thought this was a good try." She said it softly not really feeling all that confident anymore. He didn't even crack a smile. He simply nodded before walking out the door and into town.

Reseme wouldn't cry. She refused. With a sigh she left as well after writing Gaius a note to eat what he wanted and to put the rest in as leftovers. After making sure all of her chores were done she headed to Morgana's chambers. Only to run into the one person she didn't know if she could handle talking to…"Hey." She said softly not bothering to make eye contact as his were glued to the pile of clothes we was carrying. "Are those Arthurs?" When there was no reply she continued anyway. "Just a tip, never fold his clothes. Just lay them on his bed. He likes to fold them himself." When she didn't even get a noise in response she simply nodded. "Okay then…bye Merlin." She didn't wait for the none response she would receive as she rushed into Morgana's room trying to control her breathing. She didn't notice as Morgana stepped towards her concerned. Once her breathing was controlled she found herself in a warm embrace.

"Hey you're okay. Shhhh. It's all going to be okay. Just breathe." After a few minutes she was okay. She looked up gratefully at her childhood friend.

"Thank you." She nodded smiling.
"So what happened?" Reseme smiled bitterly.

"Merlin happened. He's still mad that I didn't tell him about my past and he just can't let it go! I just feel so lost and confused! My father is most likely going to be executed and my brother was injured! I don't have time to deal with his anger! I just-I'm trying and I just can't do it anymore." She sighed shaking it off.

"Reseme, Merlin cares about you a lot. I get where he's coming from but you've apologized right?" After a nod she smiled completely confident in her answer. "Then he will come around. I'm sure of it. He just needs time." It took a minute but Reseme believed Morgana. It would all be alright.

Reseme was exhausted by the time she got home. Between doing her regular work and taking care of her brother her stress levels were increasing to ridiculousness. She leaned against the door trying to motivate herself to go cook dinner. She trudged towards the kitchen throwing the easiest thing she could think of together. Stew. This was when she saw the note on the table. Frowning she walked forward seeing this.

Dear Reseme and Merlin,

One of my patients has gone into early labor so I will be at her house for the current time. Don't expect me back till at least tomorrow.

-Gaius.

Reseme groaned as she reached the end throwing the letter down. "Gaius!" She took a breath deciding the give him one more shot at conversation. She set the table and waited. Starting at an hour she was just annoyed figuring he was purposely taking forever to bother her. This then turned into three hours of waiting with a mix of freaking out.

He's dead

That's exactly what happened

Should I look for him?

Wait isn't that what wives do?

I'm not his wife.

Therefore I'm not looking for him.

There it's decided.

I will just sit here and…worry

Great

IT"S BEEN HOURS!

Where is he!

I'm so tired!

I'm going to read a book

That's what I'm going to do.

Merlin's POV

I tried to sneak into the house but immediately realized this wasn't going to work as Reseme was sitting in a chair struggling to stay awake. It apparently hadn't worked as her face was in the book. I sighed knowing what I had to do. I went to pick her up but that wasn't going according to plan as I was drunk and just managed to wake her up. Her eyes popped upon staring at me accusingly. "Where were you!" I just stared at him for some reason every thought rushing out of my mouth. Was she angry?

She jumped up shoving me away from her yet still walking towards me. Why was she doing that? "Merlin answer me!"

"I….was at the tavern." If possible her glare became even worse.

"You have got to be kidding me! You leave with no warning and are gone for HOURS to get drunk!"

"Why do you even care Reseme?"

"Because I was worried about you!"

"Then stop worrying about me! I DON"T NEED YOU!" I backed up running into a cabinet. Before I could see what was happening it all stopped.

Reseme's POV

I watched as Merlin backed right into one of Gaius's potion cabinets. Tons of vials came tumbling off and the whole thing was ready to hit Merlin in the head. So I did the only thing I could think to do. I held my hands out stopping the falling objects midair. Merlin wasn't the only one who had been born with magic. "Revertere." The objects found their place on the shelves again and I left Merlin frozen while I decided what to do. Part of me, the mean part wanted to just leave him there in his stupid drunken state. Of course I wouldn't be me if I didn't help him. It was Merlin after all. I sighed waving my hand towards where he was letting my magic leave him. He fell to the ground grunting as he slammed onto the floor. Oh…oops, forgot about gravity. Oh well he deserved it. I watched him try to stand on his own. After multiple failed attempts it became clear it wasn't going to happen. I begrudgingly held my hand out which he hesitantly took. I pulled him up hooking our arms together as I led him to his room.

"Why are you helping me?" I didn't answer at first. Honestly I hadn't planned on answering him at all, but looking into his hurt eyes. I couldn't help it.

"I already told you, I care." With that I threw him into his bed. He was out in seconds. It was what he said as I got ready to leave that stopped me.

"I love you."
