CHATER 36

Four POV

I let out the sigh I've been holding. Tris shut the door quietly behind her. I can't do this. I'll just end up hurting her. I'm a devil for fuck's sake! It's all my fault. If I hadn't kissed her, we wouldn't be this close. I feel myself attracted to her more and more each day. But angels and devils just don't mix. My vision goes blurry. I don't remember the last time I cried. This is embarrassing.

I run my fingers through my hair in frustration. I'm just a recipe for disaster, everyone knows that. And yet she still won't leave me. I feel myself falling for her. I think I'm in love with you, Tris. I love everything about her. She's… everything to me, I don't care about anyone else anymore. No, who am I kidding? I am incapable of loving, of being loved. Just like my….. father. No, I am nothing like him. I am better than that asshole.

"You might have to stay in here another 3 days," the doctor concluded. I groaned in frustration. "Why would I stay in here that long?" I muttered. "Well, we still don't know if your condition is stable," he told me. "As if, do I look unstable?" I asked through gritted teeth. He raised an eyebrow. "Why yes. You might want to control your temper young man," he said.

I pinched my nose, then thought of something. "Hey, do you happen to know anything about the angel across?" I asked. Wow, that's a good cover, the doctor will never know you care. Hah! I was being sarcastic to my stupid self. The doctor rolled his eyes. "Yes, of course. I'm the only doctor here." I could tell he's annoyed. "Well?" I ask. He sighed. "She's currently okay, though a lot less stable than you. She won't let us inject her with needles, she won't stay quiet, and from what I could tell, she hasn't been eating. Maybe another week before she gets out, I suppose?"

That's so cute, I wished they recorded her telling them off not to touch her or something. But, that long? And she hasn't been eating. The tubes. Ugh, that girl just can't follow orders from anyone can she? She's not gonna be okay if they don't get whatever it is in the tubes in her system. "Why do you need to know, little devil?" the doctor asked. I shrugged. "My opponent. I deserve to know why she'd let me win easy the next few days," I smirked. The doctor glared at me. "She's an angel, go easy on her," he snapped.

"She is, literally and figuratively. But she's strong, do not underestimate her, angel doctor, it's like wanting a devil to go easy on you," I shook my head. He looked offended. "You listen here, I did not apply for a job to help devils, but that's what we do, so just shut up and be grateful for my help," he said and left the room.

Geez, he sure has anger management issues. I stared at the ceiling the next hour. Should I, or should I not visit her?

"Hey Tobias," she greeted me. Her smile lights up the dimly lit room. "I-I brought you flowers," I held out the bouquet I just bought. No one noticed I was gone, not even the staffs. "You shouldn't have," she blushed. Okay, her blush is so cute. "But I did," I put the flowers on the table and pulled a chair next to her bed and sat down. "Wow, you look awful," I commented and laughed. Tris sighed. "That bad huh?" she asks. You're still beautiful.

Somehow I can't bring myself to say it. "Very," I nodded. She scrunched her nose. "I don't care what you say," she crossed her arms. "Of course you don't," I replied, shrugging. Her hands fell to her side. "N-no, t-that's n-not w-what I m-meant," she stammered. "I know, Tris" I sighed. I can't do this to her. I won't make her fall for me. That would be selfish. I'm not loyal. I'll have distractions. I'm a douchebag. I'll break her.

I exhaled. "Tris, if…"

"Yeah?" she asks expectantly.

"I-I…."

I can't. I just can't.

"What is it, Tobias? You know you can tell me anything," she says.

"I know Tris. I'm just, tired, that's all," I finally said.

She gave me a small smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

"I'll see you tomorrow then," I muttered.

"Oh," she said. She looked hurt, and the next minute she's perfectly fine, minus her awfully beautiful appearance. "Okay, see ya!" she smiled.

"Goodnight Tris," I waved and shut the door.

Closing the door to my ward room, I slid down on the floor. I know what to do now. I know what I have to do.

I walked to the table, and grabbed my phone. Taking my time, I dialled the number.

"Hello?"
