When I heard Mila crying, I had to get over myself and go into the livng room. After what I heard earlier from Paul, I was afraid to face him and I wasn't sure why. Maybe I was afraid that he was right, that what I was feeling wasn't the imprint breaking at all.

As I walked through the living room and to Camila's nursery, I kept my head down, but then a thought ran through my head. Why was I sitting her avoiding anyone? I had'n't done anything wrong. Last time I checked wishful hoping wasn't a crime. Taking a deep breath, I made the decision to focus on Mila and being the best mother for her I could be. I didn't need to be involved in this pointless drama anymore.

"Hey there, baby. Are you hungry?" I cooed as I carefully settled Mila into my arms.

"I fed her not long ago, she probably just missed you." Paul's voice broke through the room.

I hummed a response, thinking against telling him that I had missed him the past couple of days. The best thing to do was to keep everything strictly platonic. "Thank you for taking care of her while I rested. I know Leah must of left a while ago."

"It's no problem, I like spending time with her." A smile grew on his face as I met his eyes. That smile slowly dropped as his eyes started to widen.

Before I could question him, my phone started ringing, the ringtone was the one belonging to my father. I shook off the odd feeling and went to answer.

"Hey dad. How have you been?" I asked as I sat down on the couch with Mila falling asleep in my arms.

A soft laugh came from the other side of the line. "I'm doing just fine, baby girl. I'm just a bit disappointed I was able to be there for you while you were having your first child. How are you both doing?"

A small smile fell across my lips. "You know I understand why you couldn't be there, but we are both doing well."

"Although it's not exactly how I would have pictured how my first grandchild would come to be, I'm proud of you, Marley. Charlie never did tell me what you named her."

My eyes trailed down to look at my daughter. "I named her Calima Eva."

My father sighed. "After your mother... You know she would be proud of you too. You'll be an amazing mother."

"I hope so, dad. I really do. I know it won't be easy, but I'm going to do my damnest to make sure she has the best life I can offer."

"I'm sure Nathan will help you out with that."

That caused me to freeze. "Wait, you knew?"

"Of course I did." I missed hearing his laugh. "You know your grandmother can't keep a secret that big."

A laugh of my own escaped my lips. "That's true. Dad, I miss and love you."

"I miss you like hell too and you already know I love you, maybe now you can understand just how much. Sadly, I do have to go. Send me some pictures of Camila and I'll call you as soon as I can. Tell Paul I said hello."

"I will, dad. Be safe."

"You know I will, love you."

Not having my dad around for Camila's first days was weighing hard on me. I wanted him, Nate and my mother here with me, but life wasn't that fair. Nathan was too scared to be around a child, my father was overseas, and my mother died years ago.

A sigh escaped my lips as I tried to shake off the sad feelings coursing through me.

"Are you okay?"

Turning my head, I found Paul, who looked awkward for the first time ever. "Yeah, I'm okay. What about you? Why did you freeze up earlier and why are you looking so awkward now?"

"Leah told me about how you thought you were feeling that the imprint with Jake broke. I guess I was shook up about that."

My eyes narrowed, he was lying. "You are a terrible lair."

"I..." He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I think I imprinted on you."
