Aurora:
I hurried through the front door, quickly said hello to Grace and Jefferson, then hurried to the bathroom. This was something major. Something that I had to know now. I peed on the little stick and waited, pacing back and forth. A minute is way too long to wait to find if you're pregnant or not. There was a knock on the door and I grew flustered. I wasn't ready for anyone to see this yet. I opened the door to the bottom of the sink and put it down, throwing a towel over it just as the door opened. "Hey." I said, jumping up to see Jefferson.
"Hey." He moved to lean on the sink and I was praying for him not to look under it. "Are you ready?" My face twisted into confusion and he began to smile at me. "Girl day/boy day before the wedding." He reminded with a chuckle. "It was your idea."
I closed my eyes and groaned, putting a hand to my forehead wondering how stupid I could be. "Is that today?"
"Yeah." When I opened my eyes I saw that he was wearing an amused smile at the fact that I had actually forgotten something. "David called and said that Mary Margret is taking some time to sort things out before girl's day and she will meet you, Grace and Emma at Granny's later."
I sucked in a deep breath, worrying about my sister. "Did he say that she was doing better?"
Jefferson shook his head and I let out a sigh. "He said that she randomly got up out of bed and decided to go sort some things out, not telling him where she was going."
I began to twirl the topaz stone on my necklace, lost in thought. "I worry about her."
He nodded and grabbed my hand. "I know you do, but she killed someone." His voice dropping to a whisper at the word, killed. "You were a mess after what happened with Ty." I cringed at the memory, coming back to me. He grabbed my arm and began to rub it. "You just need to give it time."
I nodded and he leaned in to kiss my cheek. I smiled at him and stroked his cheek. "I love you." I whispered to him.
He put his face to mine, kissing my lips, gently. "I love you." I began to wrap my arm around his neck and kiss him even more. I wouldn't really mind if I was pregnant, but I knew I wasn't going to find out if I was with child until after girl's day. When he pulled away he studied my face. "You and Grace should get going if you're gonna meet Emma at Granny's." He said completely breathless and that's when I knew that we had to stop if we were going to get anything done today. I nodded and kissed him softly, one last time before walking out of the bathroom and taking Grace to have our girl's day with Emma and Mary Margret.
Jefferson:
Henry wanted to go to the park and we promised him we'd go for a little bit. David and I were sitting on the park bench as Henry played with some other kids. David was very quiet and I knew why. Mary Margret. "How is she?" I asked him without needed to clarify who we were talking about.
"Crushed." He answered honestly as he sunk back into his seat. "She doesn't deserve this." I nodded and he turned to me. "How's Aurora? How's the wedding?"
I sighed. "Close."
His brows began to furrow in confusion. "You're not getting cold feet are you?" He had a hint of uncomfortableness in his voice and I knew it was that big brother tone he felt around Aurora.
"No." I answered quickly while looking at him. "I love her and I want us to be married, but it seems like just yesterday that she we were getting her back from the Enchanted Forest."
He nodded. "Yeah, things have gone by pretty quick."
"If anyone would get cold feet it would be Aurora."
He looked to me confused. "Why do you say that?"
I shrugged. "She was acting really weird this morning."
"How so?"
I took a deep breath, thinking about how to describe her behavior this morning. "She was jumpy. Really jumpy."
"Is this the first time she's acted like this?"
I shook my head. "She usually acts this way when she's keeping something."
He leaned forward, trying to grasp the situation of Aurora keeping someone from me. "You think she's keeping something now?" All I could do was shrug. I didn't want Aurora to keep anything from me, especially since what Gold had told me the other day about how she was a spitting image of Regina before she had turned bad. I didn't want to believe Gold, but he was right. She had all the potential and she could just as easily snap. "How about we get out of here? Go somewhere else?"
I sighed and nodded. "Come on Henry!" I called as David waved him over.
He came running up to us and smiled brightly. "Where are we going?"
Aurora:
Grace, Emma and I were sitting at the bar in Granny's when Granny had just given us our breakfast so we thanked her. "Why do they put whip cream on pancakes?" Grace asked as she looked at her breakfast with a serious face.
I turned to look at her with a slight smile. "Do you want whipped cream on your pancakes?"
She shrugged and I looked at Emma. "They only put whip cream on the pancakes," She dabbed her finger in the whip cream and showed to her. "For the sweetest girls." She put the whip cream on Grace's nose and she began to laugh.
"The sweetest of all the girls." Marco said coming up behind her and putting his hands on her shoulders.
Grace smiled up at him. "Hey Marco."
He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "How are you sweet pea?"
She looked to him as he moved to sit next to Emma. "I'm great." She said with a cheery smile.
I smiled at her brightly and took the whipped cream off her nose with my finger and placed it in my mouth as she giggled. "How are you?" I heard Emma ask Marco.
Grace and I looked back to him as he smiled. "I'm fine." He answered honestly.
I knew life had been tough for Marco since the curse broke in Storybrooke. He was expecting to be reunited with his son and now who knew where August had gone. It was like he just disappeared and it wasn't like any of us could do anything. If we crossed the town line we lost all of our memories. When I looked up Mary Margret's eyes had just found mine. "Hey." She walked over quickly and I smiled. "Ready for girl's day?"
"August." She said quickly. I turned to look at Grace and Emma, but noticed that Marco was studying Mary Margret, his eyes holding so many emotions. "I found him." I turned back to her and my mouth dropped.
"My boy?" Marco asked, getting up from his seat and going right next to Mary Margret. "He's alive?"
"Yes." She said slowly. "But he's completely wooden. He's been living in an abandoned trailer down near the Troll Bridge."
"What can we do?" Emma asked quickly.
"Can we help him?" Grace asked, moving to see Mary Margret.
She looked down at Grace and gave her a sad smile. "No sweetie." Grace looked down sadly, but then Mary Margret looked to me. "I think I know someone who can help."
My face twisted into thought. "Mother Superior."
"Yes!" Marco said excitedly looking from Mary Margret to me. "The Blue Fairy. She helped once. She can help again." He said as he excitedly moved to get his coat still on his chair. "We must."
They both hurried out the door as Emma put money down on the table for the breakfast and I looked at Grace. "So much for girl's day." She told me.
I nodded and helped her down from the stool she was sitting on and we followed the four to the convent. Mary Margret explained all about August and I was watching her intently as she sighed like what she was going to say next was going to be hard. "I know about August." I shared a confused look with Grace and then we looked back to Mother Superior. "He came to me shortly after the curse broke and asked me to turn him back into what he was."
"Why didn't you?" Emma asked with the slight hint of annoyance.
"Because what he was is what he is." She turned to Marco, noticing all of our confused faces. "Do you remember when I found you two on the beach all those years ago? The day I turned your son into a real boy?" He nodded rapidly, ready to hear more.
"Yes." He said with tears already collecting in his eyes. "It was the happiest day of my life.
"I told Pinocchio as long as he remained brave, truthful and unselfish he would stay a real boy, but I'm afraid he did not. That is why he changed back." Marco looked down and I rubbed his back comfortingly. "That is why there's nothing I can do for him."
"True," Mary Margret began. "He's done something's he regrets. We all have, but shouldn't he have another chance?" That's when I noticed she was trying to make a case for both August and her.
"If there is still a path of redemption for August it is one he must travel on his own. No one can force him or it will not be true." We all nodded and looked at Marco who had retreated into himself, thinking about his son. "I'm sorry."
Jefferson:
I shook my head as Henry held the sword in his hand. "This is a bad idea."
"Come on." David said as he clapped a hand on my shoulder. "This is practically your bachelor party."
"And isn't in funny how we've done nothing that I want to do during my bachelor party?" David gave me a look as he moved towards Henry. "It's funny isn't it?"
Henry stood in front of the tree with the sword raised. "Now," David began. "Just swing it into the bark as hard as you can."
I watched nervously thinking about all the headlines they could conger up. Charming Kills Charming. Henry lifted the sword up and struck it into the bark perfectly. "Wow." I breathed out.
David turned back to me with the hint of a smug smile. "And this was a bad idea?"
I smirked at him, about to say something when I heard Aurora's voice yell out, "Mary Margret!" angrily.
We all looked at each other, confused and David pulled the sword out from the tree bark. We began to move where the voice had come from.
The closer we got to them we heard Emma yell out, "What are you doing? He's apologizing!"
We got to the clearing and saw Aurora, Emma and Grace standing right beside Marco and Mary Margret who was looking at her hand. "No, that's okay." Marco said shaking his head. "I deserved that."
"No, that wasn't me." She looked back up at him sincerely. "Marco, I am so sorry. I'm not myself. You just made a mistake. I would have done the same thing for my child. I forgive you. You were protecting your son."
"No, I burdened him with a weight no child should have to bare and I called it love."
"What is going on?" David asked looking at all of them.
That must have been when they first noticed our presence because they all looked up at us wide eyed and then Emma's phone rang. She pulled it out with a sigh. "Emma Swan?" Aurora and Grace moved towards me and she was about to explain when Emma yelled out, "August?" We all looked to her excitedly. August was alive? "Warn me? Warn me about what?" She looked at the phone, her face holding shock.
"Wait a minute." David began. "August is here?"
I looked at Aurora. "I am so confused."
She rolled her eyes at me and pulled me after her. "We'll explain on the way."
Aurora:
We all neared toward the sheriff station with the boys officially caught up on what happened today with August. David was on his phone, calling the station and I watched him hopefully, half expecting August to answer, but he pulled the phone away from his cheek and shook his head, looking straight ahead. "If August is still at the station he's not picking up."
Suddenly, the front door to the station burst open and a wooden August stumbled out. "August!" Emma yelled as she went running for him.
I let go of Jefferson's hand and went running towards them, followed by Marco. "August!
He fell to the ground and Emma kneeled by him as Marco cradled his body. I stopped at the sight, knowing all too well what was going to happen. Jefferson grabbed my waist and turned me towards him with Grace in between us. "My child!" Marco yelled desperately. "My boy! What happened to you?"
"I'm sorry, Papa."
"No, there's nothing to apologize for." Marco was rubbing his face, comfortingly and I put a hand to my stomach, never wanting to go through this pain. Never wanting to lose my child that I just knew without looking at the pregnancy test results was growing inside of me. "Everything is going to be all right."
August took a few shaky breaths as he turned his head. "Emma."
"August." She breathed out. He sat up and moved towards her ear. It looked like Emma was straining to hear and couldn't make sense of the words. Then he pulled away and took his last breaths, falling into Marco's arms.
I shut my eyes and put my face into Jefferson's chest and I felt Grace put her face into our legs. "Oh no." I heard Marco cry out. "Not again."
"August?" I heard Neal's voice as I turned from Jefferson's face to see him approaching.
"No, it can't end this way." Mary Margret said while looking at him hopelessly. "He was supposed to get a second chance."
"What happened?" Neal asked Emma as she stood up from the ground and Henry moved to her.
"Someone killed him to stop him from telling us something. He wasted his last dying breath to warn us." Suddenly a woman walked up and stood by Neal, but it was no one I had ever seen before. "I will not let that be in vein."
"Brave, truthful and unselfish!" Henry yelled excitedly. "Don't you see what this means? That's what Pinocchio was supposed to be. There's still hope." He began to look around frantically. "We need the Blue Fairy."
"I'm here Henry!" She pushed her way through the crowd and looked to Henry.
"What does he mean?" Emma asked as she placed a hand on Henry's shoulder.
"I was able to turn Pinocchio into a real boy when he sacrificed his life for Marco's. If his actions today were indeed brave, truthful and unselfish then you're right. There's a chance I can do it again."
"Please." Marco begged as he finally looked away from his son. "I beg of you. Try."
The Blue Fairy nodded and moved closer to August. As she waved her wand over him blue smoke enveloped him, making him no longer visible. When the smoke cleared August was now a small boy. He blinked a couple of times and then looked at Marco. "Father?"
"Pinocchio?" He said with a chuckle of happiness.
His face twisted into confusion and he looked down at his arm. "I'm a real boy!" He looked back to Marco with the same excited face. "I'm a real boy!"
"Hi." I looked over and Neal was looking at the strange woman.
"It's true?" She asked looking mesmerized at what had just happened. That's when I realized that she wasn't like us at all.
"Do better this time, Pinocchio." I looked back to the three and she touched his nose playfully as he giggled with happiness.
"Pinocchio?" I looked back to Neal and the woman. "That's-" Neal nodded in conformation.
"Who the hell are you?" Jefferson asked. I turned to him and he was just staring at the woman with a confused expression.
I hit him lightly on the abdomen for his rude outburst. "Jefferson!" He looked at me and rolled his eyes so I did the same thing back to him.
Emma got down on her knees and looked to August, well I guess now Pinocchio. "Pinocchio, I have to ask you a question." He nodded, obviously ready to help. "I need you to think real hard, okay? Before you turned into a little boy you were trying to tell us something very important. Do you remember? You were trying to warn us about something."
"I-I don't remember." We all sighed. "If I did I would be truthful. I promise."
Emma nodded understandingly and got up from her knees as Pinocchio went to hug Marco. Emma looked at all of us for a moment and then walked over. We made one huge group hug with each other and just appreciated that no matter what, we would always have each other.
We all went back to our homes and when I got there I went straight into the bathroom. I opened the doors under the sink and moved the towel over the pregnancy test. I took a deep breath and pulled out the test, refusing to look at it until I stood up. I took breath before looking down and sure enough, there was a small plus sign on the test. I'm pregnant.
