Chapter 36

"Help!" I need help!" Fin shouted as she walked into the hospital's E.R. entrance. A nurse came over. "I found him like this."

She looked Dib over. "Looks like he got into a nasty gun fight." She justered to another who brought over a gurney. "We'll take it from here." They did completely ignoring her even though she was sure that she should be looked at too.

Stealing a towel, Fin made her way out of the E.R. and to a regular medical wing. Going to the front desk. She rung the bell nonstop till someone's attention was caught.

"Yes?" a man asked once he finally showed up.

"I need to know what room Gaz Membrane is in. My cousin brought her here and told me to meet him here. However he failed to give me the floor or room number."

He looked is up in the computer. "She is on the fifth floor. You can find your cousin's in the waiting room."

She nodded as she turned towards the elevator, leaving the towel on the desk. She waited as it ascended. At the floor, she stepped out and, sure enough, found Zim in the waiting room.

He grabbed her by the biceps. "Where have you been?" He looked her over. "You look like hell...and your socking wet. Why?"

"No particular reason beside the rain storm," she commented as she took out the hair band to ring out her hair. "How is she?" as she was retying everything.

He let go before he got wet and took a seat. "Nothing's broken; she mainly passed out because of the sudden lack of oxygen. I've been told that she'll be fine. I wanted to see her but the only person she wants to see is you. She should still be awake."

Fin looked at her father. "Are you sure she didn't say that she was finished with us and didn't want to see either of us ever again."

"I'm sure," he said as crossed his legs and pulled up a magazine.

"What room is she in?" Fin asked as she crossed her arms.

"Fourteen."

Fin turned around and looked for the room. Once found, she stepped in. A nurse was there by her mother.

"I'm sorry but you can't come in here," she said.

"Let her in," Gaz demanded. "We're cousins"

The nurse nodded and left as Fin pulled a chair up by the bed.

"You look like hell," Gaz commented as she sat up.

"Your brother's macho attitude is worse. It almost got him killed, but he's alive." She shuffled in her seat. "As he's been admitted, so you may need a ride to school tomorrow; if you can get out."

Gaz eyed her. "What did you do?"

"Nothing I won't get arrested for," she lied. Both fell silent till Fin couldn't keep her mouth shut. "Gaz, I'm sorry. If I know that you were able to slide out of the rope, I wouldn't have hung it from the ceiling-"

"Just stop right there," Gaz said. "You don't need to apologize for what you did. Sure it almost killed me. However your intention is justified."

Fin looked at her mom. "Gaz, you wanted to talk to me about something?"

"Fin, Zim has told me that you're leaving next weekend-"

"Actually, this weekend," Fin interrupted. "Zim doesn't know yet."

"Anyways, I have decided that if you come back, if I'm ready to be, I will be someone that you can depend on. You're actual mom. Alright?"

"I can't debate in this matter, can I?"

Gaz didn't say anything.

"Gaz, try to understand it from my point of view. Earlier today I was content about the fact that, yes I was half human, but that I would never find out who you were. When I got your D.N.A. in class, I could barely contained myself. My life had taken a turn because I thought I was never going to met her. But It turned out that she was sitting next to me the whole time. My thoughts turned to thinking that you know the whole time, yet you wouldn't tell me"

"Would you believe me if I told you that if I know, I would have told you from the beginning." Fin staied quiet. "Look, I'm as stuck as you. If I would have known what Zim was going to do, I wouldn't have let him do it. I know that means that you would have never been make, but at least you wouldn't have to deal with all this."

Fin looked down as she thought. She looked up and nodded.

"I'm glad we're on the same page now. So, why did you kidnap us? I mean, Zim would have gone back to your place."

"But you finished the flour sake project. And Zim is too prideful. I wanted to be sure that I had the both of you in a spot where I would get my way no matter what happened. That's why I knocked Dib out and took his gun. I wanted to be sure that you didn't go home and I wanted leverage."

"Then tell me, if you didn't intend to shoot anyone, why the gun."

Fin sat up. "I saw the way Zim cowered when Dib-Stick pulled it out."

"Then where were the bullets?"

"Who was the closest to me the whole time?"

"The squeaky toy?" Gaz questioned.

Fin nodded.

Gaz shrugged. "I probably would have done the same thing."

Fin gave a small smile. "I am more like you than I thought. Thanks, Gaz. Without your influence, I'm hopeless. So what are we going to do now?"

Gaz thought for a moment. "Did you hear anything?"

"Everything," Fin stated.

"Just like your father. You know that he was listening to our conversation that night on Bloaty's?"

"I kinda figured after a while."

"Anyways, our plan is that after this all blows over, Zim and I might try dating. But as for right now, we all are going to act like none of this happened. There isn'y any way the world can make sense that two teenagers have a teenage daughter. When I'm ready to be, I'll be your mom."

"What about your brother?" Fin asked. "Dib-Stick would freak out about this."

"Then he doesn't need to know," Gaz said. "You said he got admitted; for what?"

"Well..." Fin said trying to delay.

"Fin?"

Fin coward into her seat. "Gun shot wounds from an attacker."

Gaz didn't get mad, she just sat there. "Was that what you had in store for him. When you were thinking about how to get back at him?"

Fin looked up surprised. "You mad?"

"I'm neither," Gaz said with a smile, "he's been asking for it, but he may not have entirely deserved it. He is your uncle after all now."

Fin let out a groan as a nurse came in.

"Ms. Membrane. We looked over everything, and you can go ahead and go home tonight. What every happened, be happy it happened or else you would have been dead. There are no broken bones. There will be bruising and soreness. But if anything else happens that you're concerned about, just give us a call."

Gaz got out of the bed and grabbed her clothes. After a quick change, the two girls left. Then Gaz noticed that were was an old black stain on her shirt. She decided to drop it when they met up Zim in the waiting room. Zim pulled Gaz aside as the two spoke. Fin took a seat. The three didn't notice when a fourth person walked into the room.

"Gaz."

They all looked in the direction of the door.
