Six weeks had passed since Stephanie and Paul had slept together and Megan had been served with Divorce papers. Surprisingly Megan hadn't kicked up too much of a fuss over the Divorce, she had tried but as soon as the prenuptial had been pointed out to her she had backed down and Paul had assumed that she was willing to walk away with nothing and for the Divorce to be pushed through quickly.

It was the morning of the big Court date and Paul was hoping to get the Divorce signed off so currently he was walking around the house dressed in suit pants and a half done up shirt with his tie and jacket hanging over his arm and with Chloe in his arms.

Stephanie was currently packing Chloe's diaper bag for a day out but she rolled her eyes at Paul when he walked into the kitchen, "Seriously?! Can't you put her down and finish getting dressed or continue holding her and just put your clothes down?"

Shrugging his shoulders he kept a distance from the Nanny who was especially cranky at the minute, "Don't worry, I am putting it all down right now to do breakfast. What would Madam like for breakfast today?"

Instinctively putting her hand over her stomach at the question she could feel it turning at the thought, "I will stick with some plain toast please."

Walking over to the fridge he frowned, "You know that is all you have eaten in the morning for the past few days."

The fact that he had noticed made her smile, "I think I have a stomach bug, it's not a serious one and it doesn't appear to be contagious but I'll be okay in a few days."

Using his one free hand he pulled the bread and milk out of the fridge and set them on the counter, "I hope so or I will be marching you off to the Doctors."

Rolling her eyes at him she shook her head, "I am a big girl, I can take myself thank you."

Walking over to the table Paul placed Chloe in her bouncy chair, "Well sue me for caring." Pulling out a chair he motioned to it, "Now be a good girl and take a seat as I don't want to worry about you today."

Groaning she took a seat, "I'll be fine, I am only taking Chloe to Jade's and we are going to relax and have a gossip and maybe venture out for lunch at Gino's but we are undecided, you don't need to worry about me."

Popping a couple of slices of bread in the toaster he pulled some plates from the cupboard, "And I will be spending hours in court, I think you have the better day planned today."

Rifling through the diaper bag she made sure that she had everything that she possibly needed for Chloe, "I am certain that I do, I am spending my day with somebody I like."

Pouring himself a bowl of cereals he smiled, by the end of today he would be guaranteed to spend every day with somebody he likes.

Walking up the stairs Stephanie smiled as Chloe cooed happily, "Yeah baby, you know we're going to have so much fun today and you're going to get so many cuddles don't you?"

Knocking on the door she wasn't surprised that it was pulled open within seconds and Jade grabbed the carrier out of her hand, "Hey! Give her back dammit."

Jade laughed as she walked over to the couch and took a seat immediately unbuckling Chloe and picked her up and settled her in her arms, "Fight me for her."

Shutting the front door Stephanie went over to the couch and dropped the bags onto the floor before she settled herself down on the couch next to Jade, "Okay fine, keep her, I get her every other day of the week anyway."

Smiling brightly at the fact that she had won she settled back comfortably, "So tell me, how are things with you?"

"Good, things are good."

Arriving at Court Paul sighed as he came face to face with his attorney, "Please tell me this is going to be easy."

Looking through the papers the attorney tried to force a smile, "I don't know. I have not heard a damn word from her attorney since I sent over the prenuptial agreement so we have to wait until we walk into the court room and the Judge asks them."

Rubbing his face wearily Paul shook his head, "Figures that she would play that sort of game. The sooner that I am free of her the better."

Chloe was fast asleep in Tyler's old bassinet and Jade was hungry, "I am going to get coffee and cookies, can I tempt you with either?"

Nodding her head cookies sounded so good, "Mmmm, I will take both please."

Making her way into the kitchen Jade grabbed the cookie jar and brought that in whilst the kettle was boiling before she went back for the coffees. Returning to the lounge she put the mugs down in the middle of the coffee table so they were far out of Chloe's reach if she woke up soon.

Bending forward to retrieve a cookie from the jar Stephanie got a whiff of the coffee and immediately pulled back as her stomach started churning and the nausea started building.

Watching the way her friend pulled back concerned Jade, "What's wrong? Are you okay? Something's not right and I know it."

Shaking her head she rolled her eyes at the dramatics, "I'm fine, I just have a stomach bug as I've been dealing with some nausea for a few days now but it will pass soon."

Unable to stop herself Jade laughed, "You're not pregnant are you?"

Trying to will the nausea away Stephanie barely paid any attention to what Jade said but when the words hit her brain she immediately started thinking and panicking and her eyes widened.

Watching the reaction to her throw away comment she knew that something was up, "Stephanie? You're pregnant?"

Ignoring the question she grabbed her purse from the floor and pulled out her planner immediately flicking through it and counting the weeks, "No no no, this cannot be happening to me."

Snatching the planner from Stephanie's hands she grabbed her hands to make her look at her, "Stephanie look at me." Waiting until she was looking at her she saw the panic in her friend's eyes and it tore her up inside, "What is going on? I didn't even know you had a boyfriend or slept with anyone. Are you seriously pregnant?"

Shrugging her shoulders she blinked rapidly trying not to cry, "I don't have a boyfriend, it was a one night thing. I'm late Jade, I'm scared . . . actually I take it back, I am fucking petrified. What am I going to do? This is not how I planned my life to go."

Knowing that now was not the time to ask question she did what Stephanie had done for her all of those years ago, "First things first we need to find out if you are actually pregnant. Stay here and I will be back in ten to fifteen minutes." Getting up from the couch she headed into her bedroom and grabbed her purse and pulled on some shoes before she left the apartment.

Soon after Jade left Chloe woke up, picking the little girl up she held he close, "Your Daddy is going to hate me so much." Laying back on the couch she lay the little girl on her chest holding her tightly as she cried.

Arriving back home Jade shut the front door and walked over to the couch and her heart immediately broke when she saw the state that he best friend was in. Dropping the pregnancy test on the table she picked the little girl up from her chest, "I will take her, you take that. You can't go anywhere until you know the truth so get moving."

Reluctantly moving from the couch Stephanie picked up the pregnancy test and headed into the bathroom to take it. As soon as she had taken the test she walked back out of the bathroom, "I don't want to know, I can't deal with being pregnant so if I deny it it just won't happen."

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes Jade placed Chloe down before she put her hands on her best friend's shoulders, "Listen to me. No matter what the outcome is I am here for you and if you are pregnant I am sure that the Father will step up and take care of this child, even if I don't know who he is you're smart and won't have slept with a deadbeat."

Just the indirect talk of Paul made Stephanie cry which confused Jade but she didn't ask questions and just pulled her close and cuddled her, "It'll be okay, it will all be okay."

Five minutes later and Jade nudged Stephanie, "Are you going to go and find out?"

Shaking her head she didn't want to know, "No, I can't."

Getting up Jade went into the bathroom and returned soon after sitting back down next to her, "You're pregnant."

Feeling stifled and stressed she needed to get out of there, "I hope you will understand that I need to go right now, I have too much going on in my head."

Uncomfortable at the idea of being alone she grabbed her hand, "Don't, just stay here with me, we don't need to talk about that but I don't think you should be alone right now."

Standing up she picked Chloe up and put her back in her carrier and started to buckle her in, "No no, I have a lot of things I need to get done before Paul gets home so I'll get going."

Sighing heavily she knew she wasn't going to change her mind, "Okay okay, if you feel you have to go then I won't hold you against your will. Promise me that you will call me if you need to talk and that you won't rush into making any decisions."

"Yes yes, whatever you say." Putting the bags over her shoulder she turned and hugged her friend, "I really appreciate today and we will talk soon. Bye."

Jade could only watch as her friend picked up the carrier and practically ran out of her apartment.

Arriving home from Jade's Stephanie tossed her purse on the floor in the kitchen and placed Chloe and the carrier on the floor before she turned her attention to the diaper bag fishing out a bottle so she could get her fed and down for a nap as she had a lot to do before Paul arrived home and she was not sure when exactly that would be.

Once Chloe was sleeping in the nursery Stephanie made he way to her room and searched though the closet until she found the bag she was looking for and threw it onto the bed before she started grabbing clothes off the rail in the closet and tossing them on the bed beside it.

Going around the room she picked out the most important things that she needed to take with her right now and piling them all on the bed before she began to pack her bag with as much stuff as she could manage to fit in the bag and more importantly carry.

As soon as she had finished packing the bag and making sure she had the most important things with her she took her bag downstais and placed it right by the front door. If she had Paul worked out right he would come in through the garage door which will make the front door her escape route.

Once her bags were in place she had one final thing to do and then she would be ready for his return so she made her to his office and stole a piece of paper and a pen and began to write a note.

Wiping at her wet cheeks she folded the paper and scribbled Paul's name on the outside just as Chloe began to cry. Slipping the note into her pocket she headed upstairs to get the little girl so she could make the most of what little time she had left with her.

Walking out of court Paul breathed a sigh of relief, he was officially a divorced man and he was free of Megan so now he had to make his way home but first he wanted to make a stop as this was the first day of the rest of his life and he was going to start it off the right way.
