Please review and answer this question as well...Would you guys like to see Jude with a Girlfriend or a Boyfriend in this story?
Stef walked into her house and looked around, but something wasn't right. The house was quiet, although that was to be expected; Jude and Jesus were involved in an after school study program and Mariana was in play rehearsals for the spring performance of 'Noises Off'. She dropped her bag at the bottom of the stairs and headed into the kitchen, only to find it empty. After grabbing a cheese stick from the fridge, she headed back for the stairs only to discover her bag gone. She couldn't help but chuckle as she headed up to her room.
"You know I almost forgot Brandon was due home today until I got home and saw the house was spotless," Stef laughed, walking into her room to see her wife on the bed reading.
"Yeah she must have been going at it all day. By the time I got home she was going full steam; I put my keys on the table downstairs and draped my scarf on the chair before using the bathroom, and by the time I got back, my keys were hung up and my scarf was put away."
"Yes, she has moved my bag, so has the Swiffer blown through here recently with it?"
Lena couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah your bag is in your closet. I came up here to read about 30 minutes ago to stay out of her way. It seemed every time I put something down, moments later it was put away."
"I think it is totally worth it to fly B back once a month…I bet Jude, Mariana and Jesus would pitch in for air fare to get out of cleaning."
"I have no doubt about that. What time is he due in?"
"His flight is supposed to land around 7pm; Callie is going to pick him up."
At that moment they heard Callie run past their room down the stairs and out the door. Not long after the front door slammed shut, Callie ran back up the stairs and to her room, subsequently shutting her door as well. Stef turned to Lena looking totally confused.
"Don't look at me, she is your daughter."
"How come she is my daughter when she is acting insane and your daughter when she is getting honors in college?"
"Because I am the picture of perfection," Lena smiled, posing for her wife.
"Hmm, I guess I can't argue that," Stef said, dropping a kiss to her lips. "Should we check on her…she is acting a little stranger than normal."
"She will be fine in a few hours when Brandon is back," Lena summarized.
"Do you think…should we be concerned with how attached they are to each other," Stef asked, just wanting what is best for her kids?
"Is there something you're concerned with?"
"I can't imagine either of them wanting to continue this type of relationship…the long distance…for 3 more years. I just don't want either of them to give up on any opportunities because they don't want to deal with the long distance."
"Babe, we raised some pretty great kids…they have proven that they really think things through before making a big decision. If Brandon comes back to California or Callie moves out to New York, they will have thought it through and decided that was the best choice for them."
"They certainly are far smarter than I was at that age. I am pretty sure they are far smarter than I am now," Stef joked.
"Didn't I tell you I only married you for your brains," Lena said, tugging her closer?
"And here I thought it was for my smoking hot body."
"Nah, that's for Brad's viewing pleasure."
"Oh god, shut up and kiss me woman," Stef groaned, before kissing her wife again.
Later that night the family was still around the dinner table when Callie and Brandon arrived home. Everyone greeted B before sitting back down to eat. Brandon was all too thrilled to join them, having just spent 6 hours on a plane and not having eaten much since lunch.
"Callie and I will clean you…you guys go pick out a movie and we will be in shortly," Brandon volunteered.
"Sweets you just got home, you don't have to clean up."
"And you and ma cooked…go relax, it won't take us long," Brandon countered.
"Thanks bro," Jesus said, already out the door.
"Yeah thanks," Jude said, making a quick exit himself.
"I would have offered, but since you want to…welcome home," Mariana said with a smile before heading into the living room.
Stef and Lena couldn't help but shake their head and laugh at their other children.
"Are you sure you want to clean up? Is Callie starting to rub off on your now?"
"I am sure, mom," he said, kissing her cheek. "Go relax, we will be in their soon."
Stef grabbed a cup of coffee and Lena, a cup of tea, and headed into the living room.
"So, want to tell me why you volunteered us to clean up," Callie asked once everyone left the kitchen?
"Because," Brandon said, grabbing Callie by the hips and lifting her up to sit on the counter, "no one is going to come back in here and get stuck helping. We are all alone for a little while," he finished, stepping in-between her legs and kissing her.
"And who said college education was overrated…you're so smart."
"Good looking and smart…the total package," Brandon smirked.
Callie gave him a quick kiss.
"And so modest too," she laughed.
Brandon leaned in to kiss her again and Callie obliged for a moment before pushing him away.
"We need to get some of this stuff cleaned up," she reminded him.
"Hmm, later…more important things now," he mumbled against her lips.
Callie laughed, but kissed him again.
"B, dishes."
"Callie, I have waited 4 weeks to kiss you, the dishes can wait another 10 minutes."
Callie hooked her fingers in Brandon's belt loop, pulling him impossibly closer and kissing him. It had been far too long since she had been able to touch him, hold him, kiss him. As Callie ran her hands through his hair she could hear him almost purring. That sound broke something in her and she totally forgot where she was or who was around…for them they were the only ones in the world.
It was nearly 30 minutes later and the couple had yet to join the family in the living room for the movie. Stef wasn't stupid, she knew there was probably a lot more hugging and kissing and a lot less cleaning going on in there. She tried to refrain from rolling her eyes as she thought about it, but that wasn't in her nature.
"What's wrong," Lena whispered?
"Nothing…I am going to go to the bathroom and then I will check on the kids and see if they have managed to put anything away yet."
Lena couldn't help but smile and kiss Stef's cheek before focusing back on the movie. She glanced over at her children who were all into the movie. She wished she had her phone within reach to take a picture. It was a rare sight to see them all together without being on their phone or fighting. Stef returned from the bathroom like a hurricane. Everyone jumped at her sudden presence, her energy radiating anger and fear.
"KIDS, UPSTAIRS RIGHT NOW," Stef said in her no mess voice. "LENA, KITCHEN."
The kids didn't question or argue, they quickly headed for the stairs wanting to get out of the line of fire.
"SERIOUSLY," Stef yelled, stomping into the kitchen.
Lena quickly made her way into the kitchen to see her son quickly scrambling to put his shirt back on. That certainly wasn't a good sign, but Stef couldn't have known this was going on in the kitchen before she got into the kitchen. Something else had set her off that had Brandon and Callie in her sights.
"Stef, what is going on," Lena asked calmly?
"You know I tried to play situations like this off in the past…tried to convince myself that this is just playful and that you are responsible adults that wouldn't let things get out of hand," Stef said, staring down her two kids.
"Mom, I am sorry," Brandon apologized, never seeing his mom this upset before. "I just missed Callie and I let it go too far."
"No, it is my fault, I pulled his shirt off…I wasn't thinking, I am sorry," Callie said, clearly having taken things too far.
Stef stood there for a minute, dumbfounded.
"You think I am this upset about you kissing in the kitchen," Stef laughed at the irony? "Oh, how I wish that was our biggest problem. Does he even know? Or did you just tell him and you're celebrating throwing your lives away?"
Now it was Brandon, Callie, and Lena's turn to be confused.
"Stef, we can't read your mind, what is going on?"
"When I was in the bathroom, I found this," she said, slamming it down on the counter.
Lena was almost scared to look; something that was getting Stef this riled up couldn't be good. Taking the object in her hands she let out a gasp.
"What? What is it," Brandon asked?
"Surprise, you're going to be a dad," stef said, grabbing the pregnancy test and tossing it at Brandon.
Shocked Brandon didn't make a move until after the small white stick hit him in the chest and clattered to the floor. He looked at Callie who looked shocked or scared, he wasn't sure. He reached down to retrieve the piece of plastic that could change his life forever. Sure enough the words 'pregnant' were staring right back at him. He looked at Callie again, unable to find his voice.
"Honestly, with all the birth control methods out there these days, how could you let this happen? Clearly, I should have stepped in when I witnessed these little public displays of affection, and then maybe you wouldn't have been dumb enough to get her knocked up."
"Callie is pregnant," Lena stated, still in shock?
"Yes, grandma, our kids are having a baby. Brandon, how could you let this happen? You both have your whole lives ahead of you, and now everything you have worked for is going to come to a screeching halt. This changes everything," she yelled.
Brandon's mind was going 4 million miles an hour. His mom was yelling at him, he was still starring at the pregnancy test in his hand and Callie…he looked up at Callie who looked ready to burst out in tears.
"Hey…hey I am right here. I am not going anywhere. We are going to do this together," Brandon said, trying to ignore his mom while comforting Callie.
"Damn right you're doing this together," Stef interrupted. "This might be the dumbest thing you have ever done but we will all deal with this together."
Everyone upstairs could hear the yelling that was going on in the kitchen. From their rooms they couldn't make out exactly what was being said, but hearing their mom going off, they knew it wasn't good. Jesus and Jude had no desire to find out what was going on downstairs. The further they could stay away from it, the better. Mariana, however, couldn't help but wonder what had set her mom off so quickly after everything seemed so calm. Quietly she tiptoed out of her room and ventured down the hall, avoiding any squeaky spots on the floor. She managed to make it to the stairs where she sat at the lower landing, listening to the arguing going on in the kitchen.
Stef was flipping mad, but this was still her family and she would do anything for them.
"I'm not pregnant," Callie said trying to find her voice.
"What," Brandon questioned, not sure he heard her right?
"I'm not pregnant," Callie said in tears.
Stef and Lena couldn't help but have their hearts breaks a little; the poor girl must have been terrified.
"Listen sweetie, I know I am mad and part of that is shock, but we are all going to be here for you. I know it is scary, but we are going to get through this as a family," Stef said.
As mad as Stef was about this situation, she hated seeing her kids in pain. Stef remember what she was feeling when she found out she was pregnant and alone was on top of that list. She never wanted Callie to feel that way. She got her initial anger out and now they had to deal with the situation.
"We have the test sweetie, you don't have to fight it ok…it's going to be ok," Lena said, trying to hold it together long enough to comfort her daughter. "We are going to discuss how this happened and neither of us are happy it happened now, but we are a family and we stick together."
"But, I…" Callie started before being interrupted.
"Moms," Mariana said, appearing in the doorway.
"Mariana, now is not the time, please go back upstairs," Lena said trying to get her daughter out of there.
"It's important," Mariana pressed.
"What is it," Stef asked, her daughter now having everyone's attention?
"The pregnancy test is not Callie's…..it's mine."
