"I hate this."
"Would you please quit whining?"
"We have been walking for almost 3 hours now and are still stuck in the same dirty narrow tunnel. Not to mention, if anyone starts shooting at as we have no cover."
"Well, Hawkeye, spot them first and eliminate the problem."
"I hate secret tunnels."
"Gee, who would have guessed it? It's actually a good tactic. That's why they don't bother to hide themselves when they're going inside the first building."
"Cause they're not really here."
"So, when the cops or anyone else hits, they're kilometers away and those detectors and beams we saw on the entrance keep them alert."
"I hate smart bad guys."
"Hey, where's that annoying optimism? Remember, you caught me."
"It's back on the surface and I got lucky."
"In more ways then one." Clint chuckled and then stopped.
"I just remembered, we haven't reported back in hours. Coulson will be freaking out. He's probably on his way here with the extraction team."
"One problem at a time. We can deal with Coulson when we get back…"
"To the surface." Clint finished.
"YA ub'yu sebya."
After another half hour of walking, Clint and Natasha finally got to the end of the tunnel.
"30 kilometers, give or take. Talk about overkill." Clint complained. Natasha kneeled by the door lock.
"Bad news, it's a cam lock." They both instinctively moved out of the frame view.
"Which means that they saw us coming ever since we turned into this hallway. Great, just great!"
"Maybe not. The lens is quite dirty from palms grabbing it and this place is pretty dark. Since we didn't trip the alarm at the entrance, they probably aren't looking that closely at the feeds."
"What if you're wrong?" A click could be heard.
"Well, we're about to find out." They both drew their weapons out and she slowly opened the door. They walked in another hallway but this time it had wooden paneling. There was a staircase on their right and voices could be heard from down the hall.
"The second storey isn't a full floor so we could find a vantage point there to see what we're dealing with." Clint suggested. Natasha nodded and they quietly climbed up. They cleared two rooms and got to the third one. There was someone inside looking at the feeds. Natasha recognized him from the files, Adam Carson, former MI6 agent who presumably died last year. Clint gestured at Natasha and she quickly snapped his neck.
"Guess they didn't see us after all." They moved to the edge of the floor and lied on it. From their position they could see the living room and a part of the study. There were two dozen operatives in the living room. One was just finishing a speech.
"That's Juri Kozak, former KGB. He went missing after the Wall fell. He has to be the leader." Clint commented. The man exited the room and went to the study where he started speaking to someone out of Clint and Natasha's sight.
"Can you read his lips?"
"I'm trying, hold on. He's not talking abut the base or their plans."
"Then what's he saying?"
"He's expressing his love and gratitude, like real Hollywood Rom-Com style." The person finally stepped into the agent's eyesight and passionately kissed Kozak.
"That's Ivanov." Natasha commented.
"I did not see that coming."
"Ivanov isn't here for a job. He's here for love."
"That is the greatest thing I have ever seen in my whole career. I almost feel bad that we have to take them down." Natasha chuckled. "What can I say, I've got a weakness for Russian assassins."
"Carson, come in." They heard a faint noise.
"Juri." One man entered the study. "Carson is not picking up."
"It's the Widow and her partner. They're here." Ivanov responded.
"Take a few men and go check it out." Kozak ordered.
"Ruh roh." Clint murmured.
"We need to move."
"Vent." Clint pointed and they quickly got in it. The path took them to the first floor hallway on the other side of the entrance.
"Wait." Natasha stooped Clint and pointed to laser beams which were just activated.
"Guess were going to limbo."
"Not necessarily. Can you hit the lasers all around the room with something small, like these weird things?" She picked up a horse figurine from a shelf, about a size of a walnut.
"I could, but why would I want to do that?"
"Everyone always tries to make as little disruption as they can but the thing is, as soon as you trip a sensor, they know where you are. However, trip a couple of sensors and nobody knows what's happening." Natasha explained.
"You are an evil genius." Clint smiled and took the figurines and started throwing them at random lasers all over the place. A loud alert noise was heard every time he hit the sensor. They jumped over a few beams and entered the study. Ivanov and Kozak both pulled out their guns but Natasha and Clint knocked them out easily.
"Get Kozak out!" They heard someone yelling.
"Not good, not good! Quick, behind the desk." Clint dragged Kozak's body with him.
"Easy for you to say. I've got the bigger one." The door opened and two operatives entered before Natasha got to cover. They drew their guns out but Clint took them out before they got the chance to shoot.
"Thanks partner."
"Don't thank me yet. Our diversion trick just went up in smoke which means a dozen of train killers are about to storm that door and start shooting at us.
"I know, finally some fun."
"I'm dating a lunatic."
Everyone opened fire on them. Fortunately, there was only one entrance to the study. Unfortunately, it was also the only way for Clint and Natasha to get out.
"I'm on my last mag. They're gonna decimate us with those machine guns. We need to end this now!" Natasha said couple of minutes into the gunfight.
"I've got just the thing for that. You might wanna take cover." Clint fired two arrows into both sides of the door frame and then quickly ducked behind the desk. A loud explosion could be heard a few seconds later.
"You ok?" He asked Natasha.
"Yeah. My ears hurt a little, you?"
"Well, my ear sight is already messed up so I'm good." They both looked at the place the door used to be and saw all of the gunmen on the floor.
"Splodie to the rescue" Clint commented happily on which Natasha rolled heir eyes.
"We need to get out of here. I'll check the place for loose ends, you call for extraction."
"Copy that." Clint pressed the comm in his ear but there was no sound. "Nat is your comm working? Natasha tried to activate the little communication device in her ear but there was just static.
"The explosion must have shortened them out. Tie these two up and get them in a car. We'll call in from the safe house."
"We can't bring them into the safe house. It's against protocol." Clint voiced.
"Right. Well then I'll babysit and you'll go inside and call in. We just need to get out of here before the cops show up."
"Meet you at the car." Clint pulled out two set of handcuffs from his utility belt and cuffed the two unconscious criminals. He checked the perimeter and hotwired a car, then went back in to drag the operatives into it. Meanwhile, Natasha scoured the place for survivors but found none, so she went outside.
"All clear, lets go." She got into the car and Clint quickly drove off.
"It's been a long time since I've been in a gunfight of this scale."
"Same, I usually just take them out from a far."
"And I do it quietly."
"SHIELD's gonna be all over us when we get back. Not only did we not call in for, let's see…" Clint looked at his watch." 5 hours, but we blew out a building."
"Well, Fury said that we need to bring the leader back and that he'll leave it up to us how to deal with the rest. So technically, we didn't do anything wrong. We actually did more than our mission objective and captured a former KGB spy."
"Great, then you repeat that to his face."
"I'm not afraid of him."
"Nether am I, but the man can reach volumes I never knew existed." They chuckled.
"We're about 3 kilometers from the safe house. I'll do the rest by foot, you stay here and guard the lovebirds. I should be back in 30 to 45 minutes." They got out of the car and Clint looked at her as he was about to walk away.
"Did I mention that the suit looks good on you?"
Natasha laughed. "Get going, Hawkeye."
Clint got to the safe house and packed everything up. He started clearing the place up. 10 minutes into the job he heard a noise and quickly grabbed his bow and quiver. Natasha was sitting in the driver's seat when she noticed police vehicle heading her way.
"Just great." She backed up and started driving off, leaving two discs on the ground so that Clint would know which way she went. The noise was getting closer so Clint positioned himself behind the bed. He then drew an arrow and pointed it to the door which soon afterwards slowly opened.
