Hello my dears! I;m following the trend and using christmas music in my story for the next month. So the drabbles, while not in order, will all have a christmas-y theme. After the New Year, things will go back to the order they should and happily we shall continue.
I thought it only fair and right, for me to dedicate this one to my wonderful Beta, Hogwarts Duo! She keeps me steady in this writing game, and I shall never be able to thank her!
I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas…
"What do you want for Christmas, Petal?" Elsie asked Emma who sat at the table helping with the special biscuit cutters that were shaped in holiday forms.
"Well, I want snow Nana. Mama always liked snow." Emma said sadly. This first Christmas would be hard for the whole family. It was hitting the little girl particularly hard.
"Well, it has been plenty cold out, lass. Maybe your Mama will send you snow." Elsie said soothingly. "Did you know that snowflakes are angel kisses? So if it snows, that means your Mama is sending you her love."
"Really, Nana? So if I go out and catch a snowflake, it's Mama kissing me?" Emma asked with a sparkle in her eyes.
Elsie nodded as she swallowed the lump in her throat. She caressed the little girls' curls and dropped a kiss on her head as she sent a prayer to God asking for snow for her little one.
With every Christmas Card I write…
Dear Greer,
Happy Christmas. It will be busier than ever in our little home, but so worth it. Now I know why you had children. This season really brings out their wonder, and they really are lovely little bairns. (Although I may be partial.)
Remember the year Granny passed away and Ma told us that that snowflakes were Angel kisses? I told Emma the same. She looks out the window all the time, as if she is willing it to snow. I sincerely hope it does.
Charles and the bairns went and harvested our Christmas tree and he even surprised me with a set of the new electric lights. Emma, much like her mother did, loves decorating the tree. She even insisted that Charles lift her up to put the angel on top. It was so precious. Little Carson just stares in wonder at everything in sight. He is such a bonny little lad. He has started the tottering walk that Emma had at about the same age.
I miss you, Greer. I could really use my sister right now. I miss Ella, and sometimes, I feel so melancholy, even with Charles and the bairns about. Maybe you could visit after the holiday?
Send my love to the kids and Billy.
Happy Christmas,
Elsie
(and Charles, Emma, and Carson)
And children listen, to hear sleigh bells in the snow…
"Is Santa really going to come, Poppop?" Emma asked excitedly.
"Not if you don't close your eyes and go to sleep, Petal." he answered as he tucked her in.
"I'm too 'cited to sleep! I wanna hear the reindeers on the roof! I wanna hear the bells!" She sat back up in the bed smiling up at Charles.
Elsie came in and looked at Emma sternly, "He won't be coming if you are up, lass. Then you'll not get any presents in the morning."
Emma nodded her head and laid back down. Elsie and Charles both kissed her forehead and wished her a goodnight.
Emma watched the door close and quietly threw back the covers and walked over to the window. She sighed as she looked into the dark. Silently, she padded back to her warm bed and climbed in. Just as she was falling asleep she swore she heard jingle bells outside.

Charles came back in and smiled as he packed the bells back into their satchel. Elsie reached up and kissed his cheek and led him up to their room to bring in Christmas as their tradition dictated.
And as the family slept, snowflakes started to fall to the ground and would continue all the next day, in true Christmas form.
I hope you all liked it. Please let me know! Also if you have any song requests, put them in your review! yay!
Much love,
Samantha
