Unexpected
Chapter 36
'January'
Gone: 126 Weeks
Spock was sitting there in his quarters, within calling distance of Earth. So he dialed the number of Jamie. He hoped she wasn't out with her friends, or if she was that she hadn't left yet.
He wanted to wish her a happy New Years as on Earth that was celebrated.
Standing there he made himself presentable as there was a ringing in the room. He was anxious but he concealed it though there was truly nobody to see it. That's when the screen lit up and he saw something that made his heart sink.
There was a little girl, clearly human, standing there. She was about a year old and smiling brightly.
"Dada?" she asked sounding hopeful.
The Number he had for Tibby wasn't listed as it was under the heading private. It meant that it could have truly belonged to anybody and he wasn't sure it was even in Iowa. There was no owner listed, no location. It must not have been her number.
"I apologize. I must have the wrong number," he informed her. Then he went and hung up feeling suddenly lost. He had no way of contacting his Tibby now.
~UNEXPECTED~
Jamie heard Spock's voice so she sprinted from the upstairs bathroom to the living room.
"Spock!" she yelled but slid to a halt as she saw the screen was black and her daughter was crying. Her son walked in behind her and she knew he was confused.
"Mama!" her daughter cried and Jamie went to her daughter who curled in her arms. Her daughter's hair was down so her ears – the only part of her that appeared Vulcan – were covered. She had pink skin due to red blood, her brows didn't arch up, so she appeared very human. Even her ears appeared like a human with pointed ears would rather than a Vulcan.
"It's alright Baby-Girl. It's okay," she whispered to her daughter who sobbed. She said soothing words while Jory came over and placed a hand on Mandy's back, trying to comfort his sister. Jamie eventually settled her daughter down and the crying slowed.
Another hour would pass before her daughter cried herself to sleep in Jamie's arms. At that moment every instinct told her to protect her daughter, find who had hurt her and make them pay. But she knew this wasn't intentional.
Spock couldn't know he was hanging up on his daughter. Plus, she loved Spock. She tucked her in before tucking in Jory who remained strangely silent.
