Robin's POV
Well, this fight just got worse. Way worse. I gripped my Bo tighter, trying to think of the best option to fight Slade and win. Then I got one.
"Lena, can you change?" I asked.
"You mean into a phoenix? I… have no idea," Lena admitted.
"No idea? You don't remember Lena? You don't remember how you defeated me all those years ago?" Slade hissed at us. Lena gasped and looked at me with a look of realization. The memory of Lena telling us that she didn't remember what happened right before her house popped up right in front of my head. That's what happened. She must have been so full of grief, fear, and anger that she on instinct turned into a phoenix.
"And finally, it is time for me to pay you back," Slade said. He immediately dove to strike Lena but before he could do so, Cyborg hit him with his arm cannon. As a result, Slade fell to his side.
"I don't think so!" exclaimed Cyborg. Slade, in spite of the fact that he just got hit, quickly rolled over and slithered rapidly towards us. Lena and Beast Boy jumped out of the way while Star threw her starbolts at him. Raven pulled up a tree with her magic and was hitting Slade with it while Beast Boy and Cyborg were also doing their best to hurt Slade. Lena was on her way over to help them when I grabbed her arm. I got to know if she can…Suddenly; Slade picked his tail up and swapped Star and the others away like troublesome flies. I gritted my teeth. There is no time to lose.
"Robin, why are you holding me back? We got to help them!" Lena cried.
"Can you turn into a phoenix? Like, right now?" I asked her. I hate to ask so much of her, but I don't think we can defeat him, even with all of our strength. I saw Lena bit her lip before looking straight into my eyes, with a look of determination.
"I'll try," she stated. I nodded as I let go of her arm.
"Then stay out of the fight till you can. We will buy you time," I ordered as I ran to join the fight.
"Just stay alive, alright?" I heard Lena call after me. Without turning around, I waved my hand. Before I knew it, I had joined the fight and soon we were all fighting for our lives. As time slowly went on, and it was becoming clear that we were going to lose, a pit of worry started to form in my stomach. What if we buy Lena enough time? What if all of us…don't make it? I shook my head to clear my fear. No. We will buy Lena enough time, and we will all make it! Just after I thought this, I noticed that Slade was about to make eye contact with me. I quickly closed my eyes but while I was safe from his eyes, I was not safe from his tail. I felt his tail coiled around me and when I opened my eyes, I was flying through the air. I crashed into both Starfire and Raven and we all fell to the ground. When I looked up, I saw that Beast Boy was not far from us, lying on the ground and giving painful groans. But the worst thing of all was that Cyborg was painfully trying to pick himself up from the ground while Slade was over him, poised to strike. My blood froze and heart skipped a beat. No! Cyborg move! But even as I thought this, Slade, with his mouth wide open, made his move.
"CYBORG!" I cried as I quickly moved, in spite of my injuries, to grab one of my birdarangs. Even as I touched one of my remaining birdarangs, a part of me knew I was going to be too late.
"NOO!" cried Lena. Then it happened. My brain couldn't even register it. But my brain finally did, time stopped. My whole body was filled with horror and shock. My heart was being squeezed to death by the icy hand of fear and grief. No…Tears started to form in my eyes as I looked at the sight before me. Because while Lena is immune to Slade's poison, even she is not immune to Slade's fangs going right through her body.
Why do I do this? Why?! I don't know. Anyway, I will update as soon as I can. Please hang on till then. While you wait, please tell me what you think! See you later! And please just hang on.
