Chapter 37 : The Apple Of Our Eyes

* Third Person POV *

Ciel didn't know whether or not he should say something, should he tell her that she isn't what she think she is anymore. Should he tell her she isn't human... His lips parted slightly, for he felt the need to speak. He closed them as quickly as they opened, for he knew he had no words to say.

Leona was still sitting on the floor, she looked around at the mess she caused and bit her bottom lip. She used her hands to " finger comb " her disorganized brown locks. Her eyes wandered over to Sebastian.

Sebastian was still in the corner of the room, rocking his baby girl to sleep. No light shined in that area, the two seemed to blend into the shadows of the room. You could hear the baby make small whimpers as she moves around in her dad's arms. While the newborn, Leonardo, slept peacefully in his mother's bed . Sebastian walks over to Leona and stands by her side cradling the baby, he notices Ciel's attention was fiercely focused on Leona. Ciel was still sitting in his knees in front of Leona, not moving a muscle .

Time seemed to stand still.

Ciel leaned closer to Leona, and scooted his body closer to her. He slowly reached for Leona's face, his cold palms touching the warm surface. His thumbs rubbing her cheeks in circles. Leona grabbed his wrists.

" You have the most beautiful two colored eyes. " Leona said, " Your eyepatch is still off. "

Ciel batted his eyes, before using his hands to cover the contract, " Don't say such things. " He adverted his gaze , for he blushed slightly. Leona knew by his words that Ciel was getting back to his normal self.

" Is something wrong ? " Sebastian whispers to Ciel.

Ciel shook his head, before gazing up at the smiling Sebastian. Noticing his unwelcomed presence, he replied in a condescending sneer, " Piss off. "

" Will do, " Sebastian leaned down to hand the baby girl to Leona, " We still don't have a name for the child. "

" Surprised you are suddenly caring about someone Sebastian. " Leona took the baby into her arms. Slowly, she rocked her baby as she stared at the sleeping child. Her motherly instincts made the bonding experience all the more joyous. Ciel wanted to see the baby sleep as well. With his hand, he moved the blanket that was by her face so that he could see her fully. Ciel was uncomfortable being so close to a baby since he had never dons so before. Especially since head was directly next to the baby. His view was perfect, Leona occasionally glanced at him.

" I have a connection with my children, because us demons can care for our spawns. Some don't, however I choose to. For I know being alive for eternity, means spending forever with them. " Sebastian seemed to be an austere man, but his words at this moment sounded gentle and sincere. He continues, " Well... if my master let's me. " Sebastian snickered softly.

Ciel turns to Sebastian, " What on earth are you going on about ? " He gave a disparaging smile as a vein protruded from his skull.

Leona tried to slience them both. " Shush you two. Look... "

Suddenly, the baby began to open her small eyes. She scrunched up her tiny face, she was going to cry any minute. Tbee first thing she saw was Ciel staring right back. Ciel was taken aback by the eye contact. Her face relaxed, and you can almost see her eye twinkle. Ciel gave a small smile, the first in a very long time. At that moment, Leona knew what to call the baby.

" Sapphire... " The name escaped her lips. Soft and almost quiet, but it manages the ring in Sebastian's eardrum. Ciel on the other hand, didn't by chance hear her.

Ciel looks at Leona, " Hm ? Said something? "

Leona clears her throat and spoke a bit louder, " H-Her name... it's Sapphire. "

" Sapphire ? Why that ? "

" It's the color of your eyes, and the key word that freed you from Gwendolyn's spell. That, is what makes her name all the more perfect for her. "

" Freed me from Gwendolyn's spell ? " Ciel turns to Sebastian looking for answers, " Sebastian what is she talking about ? "

" I took the liberty to sneak inside of Gwendolyn's workplace and check her files and documents," Sebastian pulls out a ripped paper from inside his coat pocket," Turns out she had a book sitting on her desk and it was set on this page. "

Ciel takes the paper and reads it, " Only someone that practices witchcraft can do this... Leona? Is there something you aren't telling me ? " Ciel puts down the paper and looks at Leona, he was skeptical of his current thoughts and answer to his own question.

" What? W-Wait ! I had nothing to do with this ! You see I am- "

" Right, " Sebastian interrupts Leona and covers for her. He gives a wink and further increased Ciel's suspicions. "She had no knowledge that I have given her a spell. On the bright side, she played her part marvelously. "

" Sebastian, how did you know that I would read aloud the spell? " Leona asked.

" I have been carefully observing your actions Leona, I know you better than you know yourself. Besides, if I couldn't kill twin lifeless dolls, free my master, and deliver my children all on one night ... Well, what kind of butler would I be ? "

" A butler without a contract . " Ciel jeered at him. Leona laughs in the background.

AN : Finally ! I am on winter break ! My classes have been throwing me off of my " update " schedule . :/ I know this chapter is short, forgive me !
