Voices could be heard, what seemed to be, far away. They were loud. Strangled. Tortured. I shivered and winced with each piercing shriek that could be heard. I had woken up hours ago to their moans and wails. It was unbearable to listen in the damp cell as countless voices rose in horrendous pain and agony before ensuing an eerie silence. I clenched my eyes shut and pressed my lips together. Just block them out. Just block them out. We're going to help them. Persevere. But one cannot unhear these things, no matter how hard one tries. And who was this we? I was captured for crying out loud! How much help could I offer whilst chained to this damned wall. Cody had been right. I shouldn't have gone to the city so implusively. Shocker how a stranger whom I was fighting together with would be right whilst all my friends were wrong. I owed everyone an apology if I ever survived this.
I took in some deep and shaky breaths and perked up as footsteps could be heard in the corridor. I struggled to quieten my breathing and strained to listen to what was going on outside of my cell. It was Mephiles and Scourge and another figure. Most likely the other allly I concluded.
"Those foolish hedgehogs and friends are planning to storm the building. I'll obliterate them! You fetch some nourishment for our friend" ordered Mephiles all creepy like. The UFT (Unidentified Figure Thing :P ) disappeared to, I assume, get me fooood. "You are not to interfere today. I want to show those pathetic beings just how inferior they are" comanded Mephiles to Scourge. A raspy sound followed which indicated Mephiles bubbling into the floor and disappearing elsewhere. A sigh was heard and my cell door began opening.
I sat up straight against the wall and glared at Scourge who entered casually, traces of blood from previous torture acts staining his fur and gloves. His expression was sickeningly soft. Great. Here comes the nice guy act. Don't trust! I glowered as he approached me and squatted down three feet from me. He returned my harsh gaze calmly and grinned mockingly.
"Hey toots-" CLANG. I attepmted to whip him with the chains. He stared boredly through half closed eyes as the links were waaaaaay to short to come anywhere near him. Bastard. I looked off to the floor beside me with an unhappy pout.
"Nice to see you too. I'm here for your answer babe. I can see you're not too happy about how things are turning out. I understand. No really I do. Your friends are fighting an enemy they simply can't beat as easily. I'm just trying to look out for you because out of that group, you're a hell of a lot more tolerable. Not to mention powerful. I mean that shot ya hit me with yesterday was hella sore! But it's not enough to stop Mephy and you know it. Please. Join me and I'll make sure nothing bad happens to ya when all this is over" he blabbed. I was staring blankly at him. No way in hell. Gotta give it to him. He's an amazing actor I thought sconrnfully. I smirked at him.
"Hell to the no. This will never be over because you guys will never be rid of us Freedom Fighters! We'll fight until we win! You and Mephiles and whats-his-face are in over your heads if you think you can end us. And you looking out for me is complete and utter bull! To finish, QUIT IT WITH THE PET NAMES, THEY'RE DISGUSTING!" I screeched and ranted. I was panting slightly by the end and there was a tense silence.
I hardly had time to react when Scourge pinned me to the wall by my neck and gripped tightly. I clawed at his hand to try and remove his vicious grip but he pressed his body tightly against mine, preventing me from getting a strong defensive stance. I gagged and gasped as he leant his mouth next to my ear.
"How dare you reject me you ungrateful bitch!" he hissed furiously. I squinted at him as my oxygen was now completely cut off. Either he let's go soon or I'm a goner! I thought desperately. Suddenly the door opened and Scourge retracted his grip. A tray with water and bread was being carried in by a springy stepped figure.
"Honeeeeey, time for breakfast in beeeeeeed" an airly voice sang. I swear to you, my eyes bugged out of their sockets and my jaw hit the floor. I felt my heart all but stop. .Way.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" I asked completely stunned.
"Awww I knew ya missed me! Lucky you Mephiles and Scourge and Me all wantcha here. Oh happy reunion!" cheered Danny. Yup. Danny. My kidnapper. He was the other ally. Why me? I preceeded to bang my head off the wall with depression written all over my face.
"I'm doomed. Doomed. Dooooooomed" I chanted over and over again. Danny dropped the tray with my prison food on the floor and steppe- well, hopped forward to where Scourge and I were.
"Hey...what were you doing so close to MY GIRL before I got here?" Danny growled at Scourge as he took a hostile stance. I paused in my head-bashing ritual to watch what was going on.
"Your girl? You must mean MY bride-to-be" sneered Scourge. Danny gasped. Oiiiii here we go I thought with anime tears.
"Sweetheart, is it true? Have you betrayed me? Am I just the other guy to you?" sniffed Danny.
"No. You weren't even-" I began to set things straight when Danny regained his bubbly self and pointed an accusing finger at Scourge. That idiot I thought while my eye twitched irritably.
"Aha! I knew my ~~~ would never betray me! You lie Scrooge! Stay the hell away from my girl ya hear!?" he barked with a triumphant smirk. Scourge glared and went to get up in his face. I used the wall for support and got to my feet as Scourge began to speak.
"Who the hell do you think you're talking to? I'm king of Moebius! You're nothing but a petty killer. If anything you should be staying away from MY QUEEN ~~~!" roared Scourge. I had enough of this. Being ignored and spoken about as if I wasn't even there! MEN! Ignorant pigs!
"HEY! I'M RIGHT HERE! I'M NOT YOUR GIRLFRIEND NOR AM I YOUR QUE-" I was slapped so hard I was sent tumbling to the floor quite ungracefully.
"Don't interupt woman!" said Scourge through gritted teeth. My cheek stung awfully and I felt the cuts on my face from yesterday begin to bleed again.
I whipped around at the sound of metal and glass shattering. Danny stood facing where my window once was and a certain troll hedgehog was missing. All that was left of my poor window was the frame. Poor window I thought with a frown. Danny turned and knelt next to me on the floor. He gave me a victory smile with his fangs bared.
"Why would you attack your ally? You do realise him and possibly Mephiles will kill you" I murmured. My mind was in a whirl from all that just happened. I didn't picture my day turning out like this as a prisoner when I first woke up here. Life is just full to the brim of freakin suprises.
"Hmph. Serves him right for touching you like that. Only I get to decide when you're to be struck and I'm the one who will be raising the hand" he declared wiping the blood away from my cheek. It was an innocent but pointless act as more blood spilled out. He frowned at this and I watched him carefully. He's unbelievably unpredictable. Be wary I assessed. I stayed as still as possible when he leaned forward and pecked my cheek. A grin broke out across his features and he sat back clapping.
"I kissed it better!" he sang. I was confused momentarily and felt my cheek. The cuts were still there but they had stopped bleeding. I faintly noticed my blood on his lips.
"You're going to get AIDS!" I laughed at him. His grin turned into a shy smile.
"Hey! I got you to laugh" he cheered while poking my in the stomach. My laughter ceased and I looked back to the empty window. I should not be having so much fun with this psycho. I need to figure out how to get out of here. Danny noticed where I was looking and seemed to read my mind. His expression became serious.
"You can't get out of here alone and there is no way your friends will make it this far" he said firmly. He got to his feet and made his way to the door. "I'll make sure of that". I looked at him with a determined gaze.
"I don't believe you".
The door slammed open and Mephiles entered with Scourge on his heels. Mephiles glanced passively at Danny and let his gaze lock with mine.
"Daniel, I do not care what you and Scourge squabble pointlessly over. However, no fighting when it matters" he stated. No reply was needed but Danny nodded and muttered something about his name not being Daniel. Mephiles made a hand gesture and Scourge stepped forward to hold me up from behind. Danny growled but stayed where he was, watching curiously as Mephiles stepped forward brandishing that same damned stiletto knife.
"Soo-" I cut the dark being off instantly.
"Please Mephiles. You insult me if you believe my answer will have changed after just one day. Commence your stupid torture already" I said with a bored tone. I counted it as a victory seeing as I was quivering with fear and dread on the inside. Mephiles gave me a wicked look.
"As you wish". And thus began the torture.
I was dropped to the floor, sides heaving with the effort to breathe. My face was contorted with the pain I felt. I bit my lip furiously to keep myself from crying. I was pissed that I had allowed myself to shout out in pain but at least no tears escaped. Mephiles wiped off his blade and silently left the chamber. Scourge 'tched' and left.
"Whoa" said Danny, "Mephiles got style. You look like shit" he cackled. I coughed up blood and moaned at the metalic taste it left in my throat. I felt my hair being pulled out of my face as I stared at the blood clots before me with nausea. "Hehe that's nasty hun. Let me take care of ya" he hummed pulling ou a key and uncuffing me. I was too weak at this point to make an effective escape plan. I closed my eyes in exhaustion as Danny swung me into his arms and carried me to a first aid room. I passed out along the way there.
I came to and snapped my eyes open as I felt myself being leaned against a wall. Danny had placed me against a wall outside. Outside?! What's going on?! I looked up at him with an alarmed expression. He noticed and winked at me.
"2 minutes mi'lady" he chided. He stood up and turned around, throwing knives drawn. I looked past him and saw Scourge an Mephiles staring him down. They all lunged at the same moment and began all out attacking eachother. I watched them in confusion. What the hell just happened?! Dust flew everywhere and when it finally cleared Danny stood over the other two. He mocked the further by pretending to polish his knuckles.
"Huh. So that's why you got me to join. You clearly need my expertise to help you win" he muttered. He returned to my side and picked me up again. He took off at a sprint through the city and into the forest as Mephiles stumbled to his feet and Scourge shook his head dizzily. Once we were deep enough into the forest and absolutely sure we weren't being followed we stopped and Danny sat us under a tree to take a break.
"Okay talk mister! What the hell was that back there? I'm so confused!" I cried in frustration. Tears threatened to leak out of the corner of my eyes. I was sore, confused, missing the Freedom Fighters, worried about how to beat out enemies, wary about what mindset Danny had at present and shocked at how dark it was getting. Things just weren't adding up lately! My sanity was just being shredded with every second that ticked by.
"Sheesh calm down! Look I know you hate my guts. Hell I don't care. I probably deserve it. But if you stayed back there they would've killed you eventually. As much as we may not agree morality wise, I don't feel like seeing that happen to you. You're the one that got away and you act differently. You're a puzzle I can't figure out so I'ma enjoy you for as long as I can until all the pieces fit and I get bored. So to do that, I had to run you outta there and double cross those losers" he explained. I stared at him in exasperation.
"And you say I'm a puzzle. You're insane in a bad way!" I accused. Danny smiled happily.
"Yes! And I'm your boyfriend!" he hugged me. I struggled to push him off but he only hugged tighter. "Hey! I never saw you push that black hedgehog off when he hugged you!" he pouted. I sighed and stopped trying to escape his hug.
"Yeah, but I was the one doing the hug most of the time and he's my friend" I said softly.
"Psh. But I'm your boyfrieeeeend" he whined. I was thoroughly irked at this point so to shut him up I hugged him back.
"YAY!".
After resting a little while longer we began wandering through the forest. I came to farmiliar ground and took off running. Danny ran next to me and watched me out of the corner of his eye.
"Where ya taking us?" he asked quietly. We burst through some bushes and skidded to a stop as multiple weapons were pointed at us.
"Whoa! Chill! It's me, ~~~!" I shouted at the Freedom Fighters. Next thing I knew I was on the ground being hugged like crazy by Amy.
"Amy...she needs to breathe eventually" said Rouge. Dango appeared and pried the pink hedgehog off me. Morris the Lemur helped me to my feet and I smiled gratefully at him. I ruffled his hair lightly and waved at everyone else. They weren't looking at me though. Behind me Knuckles, Vector and Sonic were preparing to rip Danny to shreds. Danny was smiling maliciously at them and staring down a pair of double swords at them. Shadow and Omega came to my sides and kept their eyes on him. Cody approached from my left and stood by Omega, looking at our behaviour.
"What's going on? How'd you escape? Who's he?" asked Cody in his, oh so very, cocky voice. I reeeeaaally wanna rip his throat out I thought to myself. I sighed and explained everything as no one made a move.
"So wait...he helped you escape...and he is the other ally?" asked Sonic.
"Was the other ally" corrected Danny smugly, "didn't want my lil ~~~getting hurt though now did I. No we couldn't have that. Nu-uh" he went on muttering to himself.
"Seesh, they weren't kidding when they said Danny Kage was insane" said Carrie loudly. Everyone looked at her and she blushed furiously. Danny howled with laughter.
"Yeaaaaah so what do we do with him Sonic?" asked Vector. Sonic seemed to be deep in thought.
"Well he does seem to be on our side" pointed out Dango.
"Don't be so trusting. He's a killer. A psycho one at that. He could betray us" warned Espio. I sighed. It was a very delicate situation.
"That being said, he knows our location so he cannot leave here unattended. He'll have to stay with us though he's a threat to us all" voiced Tails. I stepped forward and stood between Danny and the Freedom Fighters. I looked Danny in the eyes and spoke to those behind me.
"Tails, do we have strong handcuffs?" I asked emotionlessly.
"Yeah in the back, why do-" I cut him off from questioning me.
"I'll stay handcuffed to Danny until we defeat Mephiles and Scourge. I'm the most farmiliar with him so it won't be much of a bother if I'm cuffed to him. Plus this way we have one of us keeping an eye on him" I explained tiredly (haha who's comparing this to Death Note? -raises hand- :P dont be a hater). Murmurs of protest broke out but I held my hand up to silence them. I turned to look at Sonic and held his gaze.
"C'mon Sonic. It's the least I can do" I insisted. He was still deep in thought and finally nodded slowly. He zoomed off and was back with the cuffs. Danny stepped forward confidently and we held out our wrists. The cuffs were tightened and clicked into place. Cody let out a loud yawn before a silence could take over.
"Well I'm beat. We should get some shut eye before tomorrow. Thanks to mine and Shadzy's patrolling we found an blind spot to break in through tomorrow" said Cody using emphasis on his and Shadow's reference. Shadow appeared next to him and hooked him hard in the jaw.
"Don't call me that" he spat and stormed off. Everyone else laughed and whooped while Cody glared and rubbed his jaw. Everyone made their way into the cave for the night and I had to tug Danny to a far secluded spot to be sure he wouldn't disturb anyone that night.
"Hehe you just want me all to yourself" he joked lying next to me. I rolled my eyes and hugged his middle. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"To make sure you don't sneak off" I stuck my tongue out at him. His chest vibrated as he chuckled at me. He slithered and arm around my waist and closed his eyes to sleep. Fecker. I'm stuck with him until this dilema is resolved. Why did he follow me in the first place? Damn him! The plan better be a sucess tomorrow. I don't wanna be stuck to this guy for long. Sure he's fun and everything but if I have to put up with his sadistic, perverted delusions for long I'ma go boom! I was on the verge of drifting off when I snapped wide awake. A horrible thought crossing my mind. Do we even have a key for these cuffs?! A/N
