The Tardis materialises and both the Doctor and Rose steps out, wearing two red spacesuits that they got from when they were on Krop-Tor and the Doctor said "The red planet." Rose added "The Roman god of War."
Soon they both look over a crater and down onto a Base and it had five outlying domes and shuttle pad connected to a central dome by modular walkways and the Doctor said " Oh, beautiful." A small robot sneaks up behind them and jabs them both in their backs And said "Rotate slowly. You both are under arrest for trespassing. Gadget gadget."
The two Gallifreyans were escorted to the Central dome and a blonde middle-aged woman named Adelaide points a gun at the Doctor and Rose, who are both now out of their spacesuits and Adelaide said "State your names, ranks, and intentions."
The Doctor said "The Doctor, Doctor and Fun." Rose said "The Bad Wolf, wife of the Doctor and fun as well."
A dark-skinned asian looking man ran in the room and said "What the hell? It's a man and woman. A man and a woman on Mars. How?"
A woman with a German accent said as she showed him the Doctor and Rose's spacesuits "They were wearing these. I have never seen anything like it."
The asian man asked "What did Mission Control say?" The woman with a German accent said "They're out of range for ten hours with the solar flares." Adelaide said "If we could cut the chat, everyone."
The Doctor said "Actually, chat's second on mine and my wife's list, the first being gun pointed at our heads. Which then puts our heads second and chat third, we think. Gun, head, chat, yeah. we hate lists. But you could hurt someone with that thing. Just put it down."
Adelaide said testing him "Oh, you'd like that." Rose said "Can you find us someone who wouldn't?" Adelaide asked them "Why should I trust the two of you?" The Doctor said "Because we give you our words. And forty million miles away from home, our words are all you've got."
Adelaide said "Keep Gadget covering the two of them." The small robot that escorted the gallifreyans to the base said "Gadget gadget." The Doctor saw a young American man controlling the robot with a glove like device and "Oh right, so you control that thing. Auto-glove response."
The man replied "You got it." He moves to the right as he said "To the right." Gadget said "Gadget gadget." The man moved to the left and said "And to the left." Rose noted "It's a bit flimsy." Gadget said "Gadget gadget."
The Doctor asked "Does it have to keep saying that?" the man said "I think it's funny." Rose said "He hate funny robots." The Doctor said "Yes I do." on the intercoms a woman said "Excuse me, boss. Computer log said "We've got two Extra people on site. How's that possible?" Adelaide said "Keep the Biodome closed. And when using open comms, you call me Captain." The Woman said before Adelaide shut the comms off "Yeah, but-"
Soon someone was checking them who was an Australian man with brown hair and a beard and he said "They can't be World State flights, because we'd know about it. Therefore, They've got to be one of the independents, yeah? Was it the Branson inheritance lot? They've talked about a Mars shot for years."
The Doctor said "Right, yes, okay, you got me. So, I'm the Doctor, this is my wife the Bad Wolf and you are?"
Adelaide said in disbelief "Oh, come on. We're the first off-world colonists in history. Everyone on planet Earth knows who we are."
The Doctor and Rose were both shocked at When they were and said "You're the first? The very first humans on Mars? Then this is-" The Doctor, Rose and Adelaide said together "Bowie Base One."
The Doctor said "Number one. Founded July 1st, 2058. Established Bowie Base One in the Gusev Crater."
Rose askes "You've been here how long?" The Doctor and Rose both remember an article about it Adelaide answered "Seventeen months."
The Doctor said "2059. It's 2059, right now. Oh! My head is so stupid. You're Captain Adelaide Brooke."
Rose turned to the Australian man and said "And Ed. You're Deputy Edward Gold."
The Doctor said to the dark skinned Asian man "Tarak Ital, MD."
Rose said to the Russian man "Nurse Yuri Kerenski."
The Doctor said to the German woman "Senior Technician Steffi Ehrlich."
Rose said to the American man "Junior Technician Roman Groom."
The Doctor said to the Asian Female Texan "Geologist Mia Bennett. You're only twenty seven years old."
And they remember in the article they both read stated that everyone of the Bowie Base One team died in 2059 and Adelaide said "As I said, Doctor and Wolf, everyone knows our names."
The Doctor muttered "Oh, they'll never forget them."
Rose asked "What's the date, today? What is it? Tell me and my husband the exact date."
Adelaide said "November 21st, 2059." The Gallifreyan couple remember reading an article called 'Bowie Base destroyed. World in mourning. Nuclear blast crater' - with the date:November 21 2059 and the Doctor said "Right. Okay, fine." Steffi asked "Is there something wrong?" Mia asked "What's so important about my age?"
The Doctor said "We should go. I really should go. We're sorry. We're sorry with both of mine and my wife's hearts, but it's one of those very rare times when we've got no choice. It's been an honour. Seriously, a very great honour to meet you all. The Martian pioneers."
They shakes everyone's hands, except Roman who has the auto-gloves on, so they pads Gadget instead and said "Oh, thank you. Ah." Gadget said "Gadget gadget." Both the Time Lord and Time Lady salutes Adelaide and said "Thank you."
They stopped as they walk towards the doorway and the Doctor said "There's the other two. Hold on. Margaret Cain and Andrew Stone." Ed said as he spoke into the intercom "Maggie, if you want to meet the only two new human beings that you're going to see in the next five years, better come take a look." Suddenly they heard a growl from the speaker and Mia asked "What was that?" The Doctor said "Oh, we really should go." Ed tried to contact Maggie again and said "This is Central. Biodome report immediately." Adelaide ordered "Show me the Biodome."
Ed tried to show them the biodome on the Computer but the camera weren't working and he said "Internal cameras are down." Adelaide then decided to see the outside of the dome and she said "Show me the exterior."
The lights are going out in the biodome and Adelaide said "I'm going over. Doctor, you and Wolf with me." The Doctor said "Yeah, we're sorry. Er, we'd love to help, but we're leaving right now."Adelaide said said to her crew "Take their spacesuits, lock them up." She then turned to the Time lord and Time Lady and said "This started as soon as you and your wife arrived, so you and your wife are not going anywhere except with me."
As they walked through the Tunnel along with Tarak and Gadget and Gadget said "Gadget gadget." Adelaide wondered why the Doctor said Mia's age and she asked him "What's so important about Mia's age? Doctor, you said she's only twenty seven. Why does it matter? What did you mean?"
The Doctor said "Oh, I just open my mouth and words come out. They don't make much sense." Tarak said "Telling me." The Doctor said "Thank you, Doctor." Tarak said "Any time, Doctor." Gadget said "Gadget gadget." The Doctor said "I hate robots. Did my wife say?"
Roman said through the communicators "Yeah, and he's not too fond of you. What's wrong with robots?" The Doctor said " It's not the robots, it's the people. Dressing them up and giving them silly voices. Like you're reducing them." Roman said "Yeah. Friend of mine she made her domestic robot look like a dog." The Doctor said "Ah well, dogs. That's different."
Rose added "My husband had a robot dog once named K-9 and can talk and is all disco." Roman then said "But I adapted Gadget out of the Worker drones. Those things are huge. They built this place when the shell was lowered down from orbit. They've got a strength capacity of fifteen tons."
Adelaide said "The channel is open for essential communications only." Roman said "Sorry. Love those drones." Rose said Me and my husband have both read all that stuff about you, Captain Adelaide. But one thing they never said. Was it worth it, the mission?"
Adelaide said "We've got excellent results from the soil analysis." The Doctor said "No, but she means all of it. Because they say you sacrificed everything. Devoted your whole life to get here." Adelaide said "It's been chaos back home. Forty long years. The climate, the ozone, the oil apocalypse. We almost reached extinction. Then to fly above that, to stand on a world with no smoke, where the only straight line is the sunlight? Yes. It's worth it." The Doctor said " Ah. That's the Adelaide Brooke I always wanted to meet. The woman with starlight in her soul."
Adelaide asked as they saw a figure lying on the ground"What's that?" They ran towards the figure and it was a Black woman with braided hair lying on the floor and as they approached her Adelaide said "It's Maggie." The Doctor and Rose said to Tarak "Don't touch her!" Tarak said "I know the procedure. Maggie, can you hear me? It's Tarak. Maggie? It's okay, she's still breathing. She's alive." He then used his communicator and contacted their nurse "Yuri, I've got Margaret Cain, head trauma. I need a full medpack."
Ed and Yuri arrive at the dome with a stretcher and a medpack and Rose said "Don't touch her. Use the gloves." Tarak said "Do what she says. Get her to Sickbay. Put her in isolation."
Adelaide said"We're going on to the Biodome. Tarak, with me. Yuri can take care of her. Ed, go back. Gadget, stand guard. Keep an eye on this area." Gadget said "Gadget gadget."
Ed protests "Captain, you're going to need me. Andy is the only other crew member out here, and if that wasn't an accident, then he's gone wild." Adelaide stated "You've deserted your post. Consider that an official warning. Now get back to work. Doctor, Wolf."
Back in the Central dome Steffi and Mia were analyzing whom made that growl through their computer ad found that it was Andy's and Steffi contacts Adelaide "Captain, that sound we heard from the Biodome. I've run it through diagnostics. According to the computer, it's, it's Andy."
In the Biodome airlock Steffi said on the communicator "It registers as the voice print of Andy Stone." Adelaide said "Understood. Double check, thanks." Tarak said "Air pressure stabilised." The doors opened and they walked out the doors to the biodome
As they walked through the Biodome they all had flashlights on and Adelaide said "Andrew? Andrew Stone? It's Captain Brooke. Andy, report. I need to see you. Where are you?"
The Doctor sonics a computer terminal and the lights come back on and the Doctor said "There you go."
Adelaide asked "What's that device?" The Doctor said "Screwdriver."
Adelaide asked "Are you the Doctor or the janitor?" The Doctor said "I don't know. Sounds like me. The maintenance man of the universe."
Adelaide said "Doctor, you and your wife You stay with me. Don't step out of my sight. Tarak, go to External Door South. Make sure it's intact." Tarak said "Yes, ma'am."
Rose noticed that they grew flowers and said "Quite an achievement. First flower on Mars in ten thousand years. And you're growing veg!"
Adelaide said "It's that lot. They're already planning Christmas dinner. Last year it was dehydrated protein, this year they want the real thing."
The Doctor said " Still, fair enough. Christmas." Adelaide said "If we must."
As the Doctor looked up and saw saw birds he said "You've got birds!" Adelaide stated "It's part of the project, to keep the insect population down." Rose said "Good sign." Adelaide asked "In what way?"
The Doctor said "Well, she means that they're still alive." suddenly Yuri contacted them "Captain, good news. It's Maggie. She's awake. She's back with us."
They heard Yuri ask Maggie through the communicators "Hey. How are you, soldier? Just take it easy. Can you remember what happened?" Maggie said "I was just working. Then I woke up here." Adelaide asked her "What about Andy? We can't find him. Was he all right?" Maggie said "I don't know. I just-"
Adelaide said "If you remember anything, let me know straight away." Ed said through the communicators "Yuri, does she know how she ended up in the tunnel?" Adelaide added "And keep the comms clear. Everything goes through me, got that?"
Tarak found andy and had his back facing Tarak and is soaking wet and the water was pouring to the ground and Tarak asked "Andy? Andy! Andy! There you are. Are you all right?" Tarak said " Andy. Andrew. Look at me." Andy turned his face at him and it was disfigured with his mouth broken and water flew towards Tarak's eyes.
Soon with Adelaide, the Doctor and Rose as they walked through the Biodome and Yuri contacted them "This is sickbay we have a situation, Maggie's condition is I don't know I can't know what it is. it's water. Just pouring out." Adelaide said "Yuri calm down just tell me what's happened to her." Yuri said "The skin is sort of broken around the mouth. And she's exuding water, like she's drowning."
Adelaide said as she tried to contact Tarak "Tarak, this area's unsafe. We're going back." Tarak wasn't responding and she said "Tarak? Tarak!" The Doctor and Rose asked "Where was he?" They started running through the Biodome to find Tarak they ran over a bridge and then they found Tarak on his knees as Andy pouring water at Tarak and the Doctor said "Andy, just leave him alone."
Adelaide ordered "Step away from him." The Doctor said "Me and my wife can help, I promise. we can help. Just leave that man alone."
Adelaide said "I order you to stop. Stop, or I'll shoot." The Doctor said "Andy, I'm asking you to take your hand away from him and listen to me." Andy releases Tarak and the Doctor said "There now, that's better, hmm? So, you must be Andy. Hello."
Tarak looks at them and has been transformed, too and Rose concluded "We've got to go." the trio ran back to the airlock Adelaide Rose and the Doctor get to the airlock first and they got in the airlock just before Andy fires a jet of water at them and the Doctor said "Set the seals on maximum!"
In the Central dome Mia and Steffi were looking at Maggie through the sickbay's cameras and Mia said "That's not Maggie. What's happened to her? Yuri, what is she?" Steffi contacts Adelaide with her communicator "Captain, we need you back here."
In the Biodome airlock Adelaide said "Just tell me that Maggie is you confirm, Ed?" Ed said "Confirmed. She's locked in."
Adelaide said "Keep surveillance till I get back. And close down all water supplies. All pipes and outlets. Don't consume anything. Have you got that, everyone? That's an order. Don't drink the water. Don't even touch it. Not one drop."
The Doctor said to Andy and Tarak "Can you talk? Human beings are sixty percent water, which makes them the perfect host." Adelaide asked "What for?"
The Doctor said "We don't know. We never will. Because we've got to go. Whatever's started here, we can't see it to the end. we can't."
Andy and Tarak start gushing water at the airlock seals and Rose asked "This thing's airtight, yeah?"
Adelaide said "And therefore watertight." the Doctor said "It depends how clever the water is." Then they heard a Bang and sparks sparking and Adelaide said "They're fusing the system."
the Doctor and Rose exclaimed "Abandon ship!" They run out into the walkway Andy and Tarak get through the airlock and started to chase them.
The Doctor, Rose and Adelaide get back to where Gadget is standing guard and Rose gets out her sonic screwdriver and as she uses it on gadget Adelaide said "doctor, wolf, we haven't got time.' the Doctor said "They can run faster than us. We need a lift."
In the Central dome from Whatever Rose is doing gives Roman a jolt and Roman exclaimed "Hey!"
Back in the tunnel with the Doctor, Rose and Adelaide Gadget said "Gadget gadget." the Doctor said "Get on behind me and my wife."
Adelaide protests "That thing goes at two miles an hour." Rose stated "Not any more. Trust me." Gadget said "Gadget gadget."
Adelaide on on the robot after Rose and the Doctor got on it and Rose used her screwdriver on Gadget as she mocked him "Gadget gadget."
Flames come out of Gadget's exhaust as he sped away at a high speed. meanwhile in the central dome Roman shakes like he's being electrocuted.
As the Doctor, Rose, Adelaide and Gadget got to the central domes airlocks Adelaide said as she opens the airlock with a control panel "The Central Dome airlocks have got Hardinger seals. There's no way they can get in."
the Doctor said to Gadget urging him to come in with them "Come on. Come on. Gadget said "Gadget gadget." the Doctor said again "Come on. Come on."
Adelaide I thought you hated robots." Rose said "He does." At the same time the Doctor said "I do."
Gadget gets into the airlock just before Andy and Tarak arrive and they closed the door of the airlock and Adelaide said "We're safe. It's hermetically sealed. They can't get in."
the Doctor said "Water is patient, Adelaide. Water just waits. It wears down the clifftops, the mountains, the whole of the world. Water always wins." Rose agreed with her husband and said "Yeah Water always waits, so come on."
As the Doctor, Rose and Adelaide walked away and walked through a tunnel that leads to the sickbay Adelaide contacted her team "Biodome Tunnel is out of bounds. Andy and Tarak are infected. Repeat, infected. Make no contact. And if they make the slightest move, tell me. I'm going to the Medical Dome." Rose muttered "Blimey, it's a distance. You could do with bikes in this place." Adelaide said Wolf, every pound in weight equals three tons of fuel." the Doctor agreed with his wife and said "Yeah, we know. But bikes."
They soon arrived in the Sickbay and saw Ed looking at the infected Maggie and Adelaide asked "Has that door got a Hardinger seal?" Ed replied "No, just basic." Adelaide said "Then the moment she heads for the door, we evacuate. Got that?" Ed said "Pulse is low. Electrical activity in the brain seems to be going haywire." Adelaide asked "Can she talk?" Yuri said "Don't know. She was talking before we noticed the change, but -" Adelaide interrupts the Russian nurse "Maggie, can you hear me? Do you know who I am? Your commanding officer, Captain Adelaide Brooke. Can you tell me what happened?"
Rose said in Ancient North Martian (the Doctor has taught her to speak in every language) "Hoorghwall in schtochman ahn warrellinsh och fortabellan iin hoorgwahn." Maggie looked at her as as she said that and Ed asked "What language is that?" the Doctor said "My wife spoke in the dead language of Ancient North Martian." Adelaide said in disbelief "Don't be ridiculous."
Ed said "It's like she recognised it." the Doctor said as he looked at Maggie's eyes "And her eyes are different. They're clear, like she's closer to human." Rose said "Yeah her eyes look closer to human." Ed said "Not close enough for me." Rose asked "Where do you get your water from?" Adelaide said "The ice field. That's why we chose the crater. We're on top of an underground glacier." the Doctor said "Tons of water. Marvellous." Yuri added "But every single drop is filtered. It's screened. It's safe." the Doctor and rose said "Looks like it, yeah."
Ed suggested "If something was frozen down there. A viral life form held in the ice for all those years."
the Doctor looked at Maggie's mouth and said "Look at her mouth. All blackened, like there's some sort of fission. This thing, whatever it is, doesn't just hide in water, it creates water." He then said to Maggie "Tell me and my wife what you want." Yuri answered "She was looking at the screen. At Earth. She wanted Earth. A world full of water." Ed said to Adelaide "Captain, With me."
Adelaide and Ed turn their backs on Maggie and walk away and Ed said "I'm sorry, but it's an unknown infection and it's spreading. That demands Action Procedure One." Adelaide asked him "Do you think I don't know that?" Ed stated "I think you need reminding." Adelaide said "Yeah." Ed said "Well, at least I'm good for something." Adelaide said "Now and again." Ed said "That's almost a compliment. Things must be serious." the Doctor overheard them and went over to them and said "Sorry, sorry, but, Action One, that means evacuation, yeah?" Adelaide said into her communicator "We're going home. This is Captain Brooke. I'm declaring Action One. Repeat to all crewmembers, this is Action One with immediate effect. Evacuate the base."
Adelaide asked Steffi with her communicator "Steffi, what's your estimate on shuttle viability?"
Steffi said "It's a nine month flight. It'll take us at least three hours to load up everything we need." Adelaide said "You've got twenty minutes. And give me a report on Andy and Tarak."
Steffi said "Still in the Biodome tunnel. They're just standing there, like they're waiting."
Adelaide ordered her "Keep an eye on them. And make that twenty minutes fifteen." She turned to Ed said said to him "Ed, line up the shuttle. Go straight to ignition status." Ed said as he left "Doing it now."Yuri asked "But what about Maggie?" Adelaide stated "She stays behind. We've got no way to contain her on board. Close this place down. I want the power directed to the shuttle."
the Doctor said "Of course, the only problem is-" Adelaide interrupted him "Thank you, Doctor and Wolf. Your spacesuits will be returned. And good luck to the two of you." Rose said "The problem is, this thing is clever. It didn't infect the birds or the insects in the biodome, it chose the humans. You were chosen. And we both told you, Adelaide, water can wait. Tarak changed straight away, but when Maggie was infected it stayed hidden inside her, no doubt so it could infiltrate the Central Dome. Which means-" Adelaide realized what the Time Lady was saying and finished "Any one of us could already be infected. We've all been drinking the same water." the Doctor said "And if you take that back to Earth, one drop. Just one drop."
Adelaide said "But we're only presuming infection. If we can find out how this thing got through. When it got through. Yuri, continue with Action One. I'm going to inspect the ice field."
the Doctor said "Right. we both should leave. Finally, we both should leave. Yuri, me old mate, no point in me seeing the ice field." He pounded his head on the cabinet behind him as he said "No point at all." He and Rose shouted asthey ran towards Adelaide "No. Adelaide!"
In a Tunnel The Doctor and Rose both catches up with Adelaide and they said "All we're saying is, bikes. Little foldaway bikes. Don't weigh a thing."
They soon got to the water extraction module and the Doctor said "They tell legends of Mars from long ago, of a fine and noble race who built an empire out of snow. The Ice Warriors."
Adelaide said ignoring him "I haven't got time for stories."
Rose added "Perhaps they found something down there. Used their might and their wisdom to freeze it." Adelaide said "Doctor, Wolf, we need to find any sort of change in the water process. We've got to date the infection." As Adelaide tried to use the computer to bring up the maintenance log the computer said "Access denied."
Adelaide said looking at both Gallifreyans "You both don't look like cowards, but all the two of you have wanted to do is leave. You both know so much about us." Rose said "Well, you're famous." Adelaide said "It's like both of you know more." the Doctor said "This moment, this precise moment in time, it's like. we mean, it's only a theory, what do we know, but we both think certain moments in time are fixed. Tiny, precious moments. Everything else is in flux, anything can happen, but those certain moments, they have to stand. This base on Mars with you, Adelaide Brooke, this is one vital moment. What happens here must always happen."
Adelaide asked "Which is what?" Rose lied "We don't know. We both think something wonderful happens. Something that started fifty years ago, isn't that right?" Adelaide was surprised that the Time Lord and Time Lady knew about something she's only told a few people and stated "I've never told anyone that." the Doctor said "You told your daughter. And maybe one day she tells the story to her daughter. The day the Earth was stolen and moved across the universe. And you."
Adelaide said "I saw the Daleks. We looked up. The sky had changed. Everyone was running and screaming. And my father took hold of me. And told me to stay in my house and was going to find my mother and said that he was coming back and he promised that he'll come back but I never saw him again. Nor my mother. They were never found. But out on the streets, there was panic and burning. I went to the window, and there, in the sky, I saw it, Doctor and Wolf. And it saw me. It stared at me. It looked right into me. And then it simply went away. I knew, that night, I knew I would follow it." the Doctor and Rose said "But not for revenge." Adelaide asked "What would be the point of that?" the Doctor said "That's what makes you remarkable. And that's how you create history." Adelaide asked "What do you mean?"
Rose said "Imagine it, Adelaide, if you began a journey that takes the human race all the way out to the stars. It begins with you, and then your granddaughter, you inspire her, so that in thirty years Susie Fontana Brooke is the pilot of the first lightspeed ship to Proxima Centauri. And then everywhere, with her children, and her children's children forging the way. To the Dragon Star, the Celestial Belt of the Winter Queen, the Map of the Watersnake Wormholes. One day a Brooke will even fall in love with a Tandonian prince, that's the start of a whole new species. But everything starts with you, Adelaide. From fifty years ago to right here, today. Adelaide asked "Who are you two? Why are you both telling me this? Doctor, Wolf, why tell me?" the Doctor and Rose said "As consolation." The maintenance log pops up on screen and Adelaide said "Andy Stone. He logged on yesterday." On the computer monitor Andy said "Maintenance log, twenty one twenty, November 2059. Number three water filter's bust. And guess what? The spares they sent don't fit. What a surprise. Over and out."
The log ended and both the Doctor and Rose said "A filter! One tiny little filter and then the Flood." Adelaide said "But that means the infection arrived today, and the water's only cycled out of the biodome after a week. The rest of us can't be infected. We can leave." She contacted Ed with her communicator and said "Ed, we're clean." She then asked "How are we doing?" Ed said "Shuttle's active. Stage one. I haven't got time to convey the protein packs. If you want food you're going to have to carry it by hand. Start loading, right now."
As the Doctor, Rose and Adelaide ran down the Tunnel and Adelaide said "You both were right, Doctor and Wolf." the Doctor and Rose asked "What about?" Adelaide exclaimed "Bikes!"
As they got back in the Central dome Adelaide gives the Doctor and Rose their spacesuits and said " Now both of you get to your ship. I'm saving my people, you both save yourselves. I know what this moment is. It's the moment we escape. Now get out."
Ed said "Everyone, stay focused." Mia said "I'll swap them round. Roman, what about you?" Roman said "Protein packs thirty to thirty six." Ed said "Hurry up, Roman." Andy and Tarak have climbed onto the roof of Tunnel One and are walking to the dome, but no one notices the schematic showing this. In the hubbub, an alarm sounds and Adelaide said "Ditch the central containers. We don't need them."
Steffi said "Units forty one, forty two and forty three." Yuri said "Unit forty one is here." Adelaide said "Roman, try to condense the oxygen membranes. We can lose ten pounds. Faster, come on! Ed, how's the fuel jets?" Ed said "Cooling down in about thirty seconds." Steffi said "Captain, we've got all the hard drives."
Andy and Tarak lie face down on the roof of the dome and Adelaide asked "What the hell's that noise? Mia, you lot, shut up." Ed said "It's the module sensors. Exterior twelve. The cameras are down, but there's pressure on top of the module. Two signals right above us." Steffi said "That means they're on the roof?" Yuri asked "How did they get inside the Dome?" Ed said "They used the maintenance shafts."
Mia said "The shaft's open and they haven't got spacesuits." Ed said "They breathe water." Steffi said "But they'd freeze." Yuri said "They've got that internal fission." Mia said "But we're safe, they can't get through, can they? Can they?"
The roof makes a creaking noise and Roman said " This place is airtight." Steffi asked "Can it get through? Ed, can it get through?" Ed said "I don't know! Water itself isn't motile, but it has some sort of persistence."
Adelaide said "Everyone, listen to me. That's ten feet of steel-combination up there. We need all the protein packs or we're going to starve. Now keep working. Roman, watch the ceiling. Ed, get to the shuttle. Fire it up."
Ed said "I can carry more than this lot, Captain." Adelaide exclaimed "That's an order!" Ed said " both the Doctor and Rose continues to stand there, holding their spacesuits, and remembering how history recorded the end of Bowie Base One. Finally they both turn around and leaves.
After they put on their spacesuits they went into an Airlock and as the Doctor presses a button on the panel the computer said "Access denied. Access denied." Adelaide said through the speakers "Tell me what happens." the Doctor and Rose lied "We don't know." Adelaide saw through their lie and said "Yes, you do. Now tell me." Rose said "You should be with the others."
Adelaide stated "Tell me! I could ramp up the pressure in that airlock and crush both of you."
the Doctor said "Except you won't. You could have shot Andy Stone, but you didn't. We loved you for that." They gave up and the Doctor said "Imagine, imagine you knew something. Imagine you found yourself somewhere. We don't know, Pompeii." Rose said "Imagine you were in Pompeii." Adelaide asked "What the hell's that got to do with it?" the Doctor added "And you tried to save them. But in doing so, you make it happen. Anything we do just makes it happen." Adelaide said after not speaking for a few seconds "I'm still here."
the Doctor said"You're taking Action One. There are four more standard action procedures. And Action Five is?" Adelaide stated "Detonation." Rose said "The final option. The nuclear device at the heart of the Central Dome. Today, on the twenty first of November 2059, Captain Brooke activates that device, taking the base and all her crew members with her. No one ever knows why. But you were saving Earth. That's what inspires your granddaughter. She takes your people out into the galaxy because you die on Mars. You die today. She flies out there like she's trying to meet you." Adelaide said in disbelief "I won't die. I will not." the Doctor said "But your death creates the future." Adelaide begged their help "Help me." She saw that they were not responding and asked "Why won't either of you help, Doctor,Wolf? If the both you know all of this, why can't the two of you change it?" the Doctor and Rose said in unison "We can't."
Adelaide asked "Why can't you find a way? You could tell me, I don't know-" the Doctor said "We're sorry, but we can't. Sometimes we can, sometimes we do. Most times we can save someone, or anyone. But not you. You wondered all your life why that Dalek spared you. we think it knew. Your death is fixed in time for ever. And that's right." Adelaide said "You both will die here too." the Doctor said "No." Adelaide asked "What's going to save the two of you?"
the Doctor and Rose stated "Captain Adelaide Brooke." Adelaide releases the airlock and the airlock descends downwards and they hear Adelaide mutter "Damn the two of you."
The Doctor and Rose both walk out if the airlock and they both walk slowly away from Bowie Base one and as the shuttle explodes and the blast knocks the Doctor and Rose off their feet onto the Martian soil and stood up as the Doctor remember saying to Martha when they were on New Earth after the Face of Boe died "I'm not just a Time Lord, I'm the Last of the Time Lords." Rose also remember saying on New Earth "And I'm The last of the Time ladies all we have is each other." The Doctor then remember saying to Donna when they were on Messaline "They'll probably never come back with Wolf. Not now." Rose then remember saying when she was saying goodbye to her mother the first time Oh, I've got the Doctor and tge Tardis. Same old life, last of the Time Lords and Time Ladies." The Doctor then remember saying to Mickey in the Tardis when they were stuck in pete's world and before they faced the cybermen "And they died and took it all with them. The walls of reality closed, the worlds were sealed, gone forever. The Time Lords kept their eye on everything. It's gone now." Rose remember saying when they were on Utopia with Martha and Jack "But they died, the Time Lords! All of them, they died." They then remember saying at the same time "We're the last of the Time Lords and Time Ladies."
Then the Doctor and Rose both return to Bowie Base One and they put their helmets on a cabinet and the Doctor said as he approached Mia and gave her a fire extinguisher "Mia, take this sealant, fix that leak." Rose said to Yuri "Yuri, open emergency oxygen." Yuri got up and went to the Computer to do exactly what he was told to do and the Doctor said as he helped Adelaide up and said "Adelaide, don't just sit there." The Doctor said as Mia fixed the leak of the Dome and the alarms stopped blaring "That's better. The Dome's still got integrity! It's ten feet of steel-combination, made in Liverpool. Magnificent workmanship." Adelaide said to the Doctor and Rose "It can't be stopped. Don't either of the two of you die with us." Rose said "No, because someone told us just recently. They said I was going to die. They said he will knock four times, and we think we both know what that means, and it doesn't mean right here, right now, because me and my husband don't hear anyone knocking, do you?" Andy knocks three times on the bulkhead door and Rose said "Three knocks is all you're getting." She uses the Computer to activate the electricity of the bulkhead door and the Doctor said " Good Job, Wolf. Water and electricity, bad mix." He then asked "Now then, what else have we got?"Adelaide stated "But there's no way to fight them." the Doctor exclaimed "Heat! They use water, so we can use heat. Works against the Ice Warriors, works against the Flood. Ramp up the environment controls and steam them."Adelaide was confused on why they're saving her and her team "But you both said we die. For the future, for the human race."
the Doctor and Rose said "Yes, because there are laws. There are Laws of Time. Once upon a time there were people in charge of those laws, but they died. They all died. Do you know who that leaves? Us! It's taken us all these years to realise the Laws of Time are ours, and they will obey us!"
Then suddenly there was a minor explosion and caused both Gallifreyans to fall to the floor and the Doctor and Rose's spacesuit helmets fell off the cabinet to the floor and as the alarms started blaring again, Adelaide said as she went to the Computer "Environment controls are down. Sorry, Doctor and Wolf, it looks like history's got other ideas."
the Doctor and Rose stood up and weren't gonna give up and said "We're not beaten yet. We'll go outside, find the heat regulator." Their spacesuit helmets are damaged and the Doctor exclaimed "Not beaten. Not beaten! You've got spacesuits in the next section."
As they ran towards the next section they find that water is pouring through the ceiling and ran back to where Adelaide, Mia and Yuri were and they both exclaimed "We're not just fighting the Flood, we're fighting time itself. And We're going to win!" Soon the Glacier starts to crack and Yuri said "Something is happening to the glacier." the Doctor said "Think-a think-a think-a think. What have we got? Not enough oxygen. Protein packs, useless. Glacier, glacier mints, minty, Monty, molto bene, bunny, bonny, bish bash bosh. Argh. The room, the room, look at the room. Section F. What's in Section F? Anyone!" Yuri said "Nothing. It's just storage." Rose asked "Storing what?" Yuri said "I don't know. Er, the weather spikes, the robots, the atom clamps." the Doctor repeated him "Atom clamps. Atom clamps? Who needs atom clamps? I love a funny robot."
The Doctor opens a unit to reveal Gadget and Gadget said "Gadget gadget."The Doctor gives Gadgethis Tardis key and said "You take that. Good boy."Gadget said "Gadget gadget."
The Doctor puts on the auto-remote gloves and said "Off we go then." Gadget said "Gadget gadget." Adelaide presses a button on a computer keyboard. The monitor lights up with Warning and the Doctor punches his hand forward and said "Come on, come on!" The Doctor steers Gadget through fire and water then the Computer said "Implementing Captain's protocol." the Doctor and Rose asked "Adelaide? What are you doing?" Mia said as she saw the words 'Action Five on the computer Monitor that Adelaide was at "Oh, my God. Action Five." Rose said "If me and my husband have to fight you as well, then we will." The Computer said "Nuclear device now active and primed." The countdown on the Computer where Adelaide is at has started at 100 and the Computer repeated itself "Nuclear device now active and primed."
the Doctor exclaimed as Gadget speeds fast at a high speed on the Martian surface "Blast off!" Gadget said "Gadget gadget." the Doctor exclaimed as he wanted Gadget to go faster "Faster!"
Soon Gadget reaches the Tardis as the Computer said "Nuclear device entering final process."
Outside the Tardis Gadget raises the Doctor's Tardis key into the lock. And opens the Tardis Doors.
Back in Section F the Doctor exclaimed "And we're in! Ha, ha." The countdown on Adelaide's reaches 43 and in the Tardis the Doctor sets the Tardis controls remotely via Gadget and Gadget said "Gadget gadget."
the Tardis materialises over everyone in Section F of Bowie Base One Just before the base explodes in a nuclear explosion.
The Tardis materialises on a snow covered Georgian street. The Doctor and Rose leads Adelaide, Mia, Yuri and Gadget out and asked "Isn't anyone going to thankus?" Gadget powers himself off and the Doctor said "He's lost his signal. Doesn't know where he is."
Adelaide saw the house in front of her and said "That's my house."
the Doctor said "Don't you get it? This is the twenty first of November 2059. It's the same day on Earth. And it's snowing. We love snow." Mia was freaking out on how the Tardis is bigger on the inside and asked "What is that thing? It's bigger. I mean, it's bigger on the inside. Who the hell are the pair of you?" Mia runs away and Adelaide said to Yuri "Look after her." Yuri said "Yes, ma'am." Yuri runs after Mia and Adelaide said "You both saved us." the Doctor said "Just think though. Your daughter, and your daughter's daughter, you can see them again. Family reunion."
Adelaide said "But I'm supposed to be dead." Rose said "Not any more." Adelaide said "But Susie, my granddaughter. The person she's supposed to become might never exist now."the Doctor said "Nah! Captain Adelaide can inspire her face to face. Different details, but the story's the same."
Adelaide said "You both can't know that. And if my family changes, the whole of history could change. The future of the human race. No-one should have that much power." the Doctor and Rose stated "Tough." Adelaide said "You both should have left us there." the Doctor said "Adelaide, We've one this sort of thing before but I've done it more than Wolf has. In small ways, saved some little people, but never someone as important as you. Oh, we're good." Adelaide was offended and said "Little people? What, like Mia and Yuri? Who decides they're so unimportant? The two of You?" the Doctor said "For a long time now, We thought we were just survivors, but we're not. We're the winners. That's who we am. The Time Lord and Time Lady Victoriouses." Adelaide said "And there's no one to stop the two of you." the Doctor and Rose both breathed "No." Adelaide stated "This is wrong, Doctor And Wolf. I don't care who you two are. The Time Lord and Time Lady Victoriouses are wrong." the Doctor and Rose said "That's for the both of us to decide." Rose added "Now, you'd better get home. Oh, it's all locked up. You've been away. Still, that's easy." She takes out her sonic screwdriver and points it at the front door of Adelaide's house , and the Door opens and Rose said "All yours." Adelaide asked "Is there nothing the two of you can't do?" the Doctor and Rose said "Not any more." Adelaide goes inside, drawing her gun and closing the door. Then they hear Adelaide shoot herself and saw an energy blast light up the window and both the Doctor and Rose turns around and in their head, they start to remember Adelaide's death both on Mars and on Earth and Susie Fontana Brooke still goes into space, though and they both hear Adelaide in their heads say "I don't care who you two are. The Time Lord and Time Lady Victoriouses are wrong." The Doctor and Rose both turns to see an Ood looking at them and they mutter "We've gone too far." Rose asked "Is this it? My death? Is it time?" The Doctor and Rose both falls to their knees and the Ood vanishes and they both gets up again and goes inside the Tardis. And hissed as the Cloister bell rings "No."
