Chp 37- "The war in the distance is marching toward, our back door and you're all I have. Take my hand and I'll lead the way. With our love as a shield. Love, will you ever forgive me? If I simply let you fall? Honestly I hate to say, that I'm afraid. We used to be so strong, now things are all wrong." The Storm by Elenowen
It was Sif that ripped the curtains from her hiding place a few moments later. Her face displayed her annoyance as she crossed her arms. "Let me understand this. I have to watch Thor train a petty mortal for weeks. And not just any mortal, but Loki's. Then this morning, I get sent by Thor to search the entire palace for this troublesome mortal. And this entire time you have been sobbing in a corner?" Alex bit her lip, unsure how to respond. She didn't know Sif that well, but she clearly loved Thor, even if he didn't see it himself. "Uhm, yeah?" She asked, ready for a rant or for Sif to drag her to Odin and demand she be thrown out of Asgard.
"Get out of there this instant." Alex scrambled out, her dress wrinkled and shoes falling to the ground after her. She was sure her hair was a giant mess too. "Follow me." Sif said, turning and beginning to walk out of the library. "Sif, wait! I am sorry about Thor. I know what the rumors are, but nothing happened. He doesn't love me and he's like a brother and I-" "Enough!" Sif spun around and Alex stopped in her tracks. The guards outside the doors looked over, but didn't move. "I know. I followed him a few times. I also can see how much you care for Loki. Now will you please shut up and follow me. We have to make you presentable and sort this mess out." Alex nodded and quietly followed.
They made it back to Alex's rooms in record time and she quickly bathed and changed. While Sif dug around her closet. "Can't I just wear pants?" Alex asked, already in her pants and tank top. "No. Lady Frigga is with Loki and she will not be happy." Sif said, not turning from the various gold and green dresses. "Is there not a simple gown in here?" She growled out throwing a glittering floor length ball gown to the floor behind her. Alex snickered and said "Honestly, your armor looks much better than those dresses." Sif turned and smiled, a green knee length dress that puffed out in her hand. "It is much more comfortable, but only shield maidens should wear armor." Alex took the dress and quickly changed in the bathroom.
"Let me guess, getting my butt whipped by Thor doesn't count." Sif was looking at the jewellery on her dresser when she returned. "No, but it should. You are very persistent." Alex watched her gently pick up a long gold chain with a medallion of a lion's head on it. "You must be too. You're the only female warrior I've seen." Alex sat on the edge of her bed, watching Sif's thumb brush the lion's mane. "Yes, well. I am a talented fighter as well." Sif turned to her and held out the necklace. Alex stood and walked over, taking it and looking down at the lion. "Where I come from, the lion is the king of beasts. I'm more like the gazelle it eats. Fast, but not so good at fighting back." Sif nodded in understanding. "Thor would be a lion. He will make an excellent king." Alex tilted her head as Sif spoke. "...and you the lioness." Sif looked up to her in shock and began to protest. "Jane is mortal and a nice girl. But Thor needs a queen that can match him. He loves you more and you will be that queen. I promise." Alex said, putting the necklace around Sif's lion roared at her from the silver background of Sif's armor. "Now, shall we find the lion before he gets too grumpy?" Sif smiled in response, "Yes. Then we find the snake." Alex shuddered, "Need to find a better name." Sif was shocked, "You're afraid of snakes." Alex nodded. "Do not tell anyone." Sif smiled and followed her out of her room. "Horse?" Sif suggested and Alex's laughter echoed down the hall.
