"Did the clothes fit?"
Elena asked in front of a door.
After leaving the Vongola mansion, the blonde woman took the young girl to her house, so that the latter could change her attire.
Hearing no response, Elena knocked on the door, "Maya, I'm coming in," and turned the knob; only then she heard some noises.
"E-Ele-san~I don't think it suits me…"
"How so? Let me see it dear."
"It's difficult to walk! Is there any shorter dress, as in, that just reached to my knees?"
Elena chuckled hearing the girl's protest, "You know there isn't any in this era, Maya."
Yes, the blonde woman clearly knew that the young girl didn't belong to their timeline, a fact that Giotto shared to her.
She watched as a certain brown-black haired peeked out behind the standing mirror, embarrassed, "It really doesn't suit me~~"
"Now don't jump into conclusions," The woman wagged her finger, and pulled the girl out from her hiding spot, completely ignoring her whines and protests, "Ara, you looked fine to me." She commented after taking a good look at the girl.
Maya blushed, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her sleeves, "I-I-I don't think so…" She stammered.
"Don't worry, you looked completely fine." Elena assured her, practically squealing deep inside her heart.
The young girl looked like a doll after having her hair tied into twin ponytails, plus wearing a milk-colour Lolita-like dress and the frilly headband with ribbons attached to it.
How the blonde woman wished she could take pictures of the girl! But judging by her current state, the young girl would probably run away if they brought out the camera.
Maya hung her head, face flushed with red as she continued to fiddle with her sleeves. She had this innocent, puppy look on her face.
SO CUTEEEE!
Not only Elena, even the maids that helped the young girl dressed up also squealed over the cuteness the oblivious young girl was spreading.
Realizing she was gaining a lot of stares, Maya's face was even heated than before. She quickly grabbed Elena's hand and dragged her out, "E-Ele-san! Let's go shopping!"
"Ah, Maya—"The blonde woman stopped, then giggled when she realized that she made the young girl embarrassed.
She wondered how the guardians would react after seeing the dressed-up girl.
~Time skip~
Since Maya had never been to the 4000-years-ago-Italy, she was quite amazed and excited to see the once historical things came hustling and bustling with life. Then she saw what she was looking for.
"FOOD!"
The young girl shouted in happiness and dashed towards a shop selling Italian snacks.
Elena was surprised at first when she saw the girl ran so quickly—and was even surprised when she could move so fast even though the girl complaint to her that the dress restricted her movements—wondering what had happened; her worries were all gone when she noticed where she was heading to.
"She really is what the boss told me…" The blonde woman giggled softly as she started to trot along the path leading to Maya's whereabouts.
"Oh? Isn't this Elena?"
Said woman stopped at her tracks and turned around, finding a man in his mid-twenties with a group of men in black.
"Ah…Signore Enzo…" Elena greeted with a slight bow. The man smiled, "Nice to see you too, what are you doing out here?"
"Ah, I'm taking Maya out."
"Maya?"
"ONII-SAMA!"
Elena jumped when a flash of brown dashed past her and tackled the man in front of her. The unfortunate guy didn't expect this kind of 'attack' and fell down with his attacker. The commotion startled the men in black and they got their guns out.
"Wait." Holding up a hand, the tackled man stopped the men. He sat up, holding a certain girl who was snuggling up to him as he did so, "Signorina, I think you mistaken me for someone else."
The girl blinked and looked up, staring at him, "You're not…Nii-sama?"
"Maya, this is the head of the Cavallone family, Enzo." Elena quickly went up and explained to the girl, "The Cavallone family is one of Vongola's alliances."
Maya blinked, taking in Elena's words as she observed the man in front of her: He had her brother Dino's face except that his hair was black. Aside from that, he was a copy of the 10th Cavallone boss; even the aura the black haired giving was practically the same as Dino.
Maya blinked again, before slowly standing up, and helping Enzo to stand, "I'm sorry…I thought you looked like someone I know…I guessed I got too excited…" She apologized.
Enzo looked at her with a smile, "It's alright, your name is Maya, right? Whom did you mistake me for?"
"My big brother." The young girl answered, "Not my real brother, but he always care for me and acted like my brother."
Enzo held up a finger to his chin, thinking, "Hmm…if I call you my sorellina, would you like to accept that?" He asked with a wink.
Maya stared at him for a while, her lips then curled up to a broad smile, showing her cute fangs, "Yes! You'll be my second brother! Ah, I'll call you Fratellone then!" She said happily.
"Aww~~~so cute~" Enzo grinned idiotically as he poked the girl's cheek, the latter only smiled happily at him.
Elena chuckled softly at the newly-bonded sister and brother. She was amazed how Maya captured the hearts of every person she met, and eventually in succeeding forming a bond with them—a bond that would not break easily.
Still, she couldn't help but worry: Giotto wouldn't mind Enzo being friendly with Maya, but her boss's protectiveness might get in the way; Alaude, on the other hand—from what she witnessed just now—clearly shown that he held special feelings for the girl, and he was close to Enzo—knowing the black haired being so close to Maya the white skylark would definitely give the whole Vongola mansion a one-day-Hell.
Thinking of this, the blonde woman sweat dropped; maybe bonding with every person wasn't such a good idea after all…
"Ele-san? Are you alright?" The voice of the young girl brought Elena back to reality; she blinked at Maya who had a worried expression on her face.
Smiling, she patted her head, "I'm fine. Where do you want to go now?"
The girl shook her head, before staring back at the woman, "I want to go back."
Elena was confused, "Is something wrong?" If something IS wrong, her boss was not going to be happy.
"I want to see how Gio-san is doing. It's no fun without the others around." The girl looked down, pouted.
Only then Elena realized, that the girl was feeling guilty for having fun herself, while the guardians were back at the mansion doing…nothing in particular except for fighting.
The woman gave a small smile and nodded in understand, "Sure, let's go back, I'm sure boss had finished his work by now."
Maya smiled back, and turned to Enzo, "Fratellone, do you want to come with us?"
The black haired laughed, "Sure, it's been some time I haven't see Alaude. I wonder how he's doing."
The young girl cheered. Taking Enzo's hand, she led him towards their carriage—by running.
"W-Wait, sorellina, slow down, we aren't rushing." The black head laughed nervously seeing Maya's excitement.
Ignoring him, Maya grinned to herself as she continued. They ran past a dark alley, and Maya's smile faded, replaced by a shock expression. She slowed down her speed and eventually, stopped.
Enzo looked at her in confuse, wondering why she stopped, "Sorellina?"
Maya didn't answer him; instead she turned back to the dark alley and crouched down, her face filled of anger and serious.
"Maya?" Seeing her expression Enzo knew something was wrong, he followed the girl's step and crouched down, that's when he heard voices talking. Startled, he pulled the girl back when she was leaning a bit too close for the speakers' vision.
"So when will the attack begin?"
He heard them said.
"Don't be so eager, Viola. The Vongola was one of the strongest mafia in Italy. It's not that easy to take them down."
WHAT?
Enzo thought, he also realized the reason Maya's sudden action:
She must have heard their plans.
The voices continued spilling their plans.
"Does Indaco have any information in there?"
"Yes, apparently there was a new girl the boss found and brought back. Not only the boss, the other guardians seemed to like her and quite treasured her."
"That girl can be the key to our success, know where she is now?"
"She had gone out with signora Elena, probably out the streets by now."
"You got that right."
A childish yet full of anger voice which clearly did not belong to the speakers was heard. Enzo mentally screamed as Maya walked up to the people, grasping her fists.
Her eyes showed dangerous sign, "You guys are bad people."
"W-What?! We've been found out!" One of the enemies with light green hair shouted.
His comrade looked at him in annoy, "Tch, she's just a little girl, let's just grabbed her and…"
Before the guy could finish what he said, he was sent flying to the wall; his body practically embedded into the cement.
Enzo watched in shock as Maya coolly stood up, tearing off the long dress and whipped out her gun which she had hidden under the long fabric.
The sound of the clicking gun was heard as the young girl stared at her remaining enemies with cold, golden orbs.
"You guys are bad people…" She aimed her gun at them, "And you must be eliminated."
"W-What?! How did she…" The light green haired looked at Maya with widen eyes; he turned to his other comrade, a man with dark-colour hair.
"I forgot to say, she just destroyed her room when Daemon Spade barged in just like that." The man said emotionless looking at his red comrade, earning a shout from the latter, "Why didn't you tell us sooner?!"
"Bad people must be eliminated."
The two men heard the cold whisper and dodged just in time from Maya's attack.
The girl 'tched' and bent down, sweeping the guys of their feet as she did so. The dark coloured haired jumped away from her, but not the light green haired; the unfortunate guy landed with a thump.
"Ouch! That hurts…WOAH! WAIT A SEC SIGNORINA!" He quickly got up when Maya was going to land another attack on him. The man caught hold of her coming fist, "Now, I hate to fight girls, so signorina could you please…"
Not wanting to hear him finished, the girl raised her leg and landed a hard kick on the guy's waist. The latter let go of her wrist and was sent flying to the wall out of impact, joining his first comrade.
"Die."
Maya glanced at the voice; the dark coloured had his guns out and was aiming at her. Keeping the emotionless expression on her face, she vanished right in front of the man's eyes, surprising the latter.
"Just what did she…"
He felt his back collar being pulled and the next thing he knew, he was slammed down onto the ground. Struggling to get up, he found he was pushed back down onto the solid cement again by the heels of a certain brown-black haired. His forehead was met with the bore of a gun.
Aiming the gun at her opponent, Maya stared at him coldly, before pulling the trigger.
Gunshot was heard in the air of the night.
