Chapter 36

The rest of the week passed by with Team One working hard. Natalie caught up with all the recordings Spike had given her about Sam and Jules' history. Katherine prepared to go to college on Monday and the kids were also starting school the same day. The Generals were worried because nobody had heard anything else about the threat or about Sam and Charlie. So no one knew if anything would happen or not. It was Friday when Team One and their significant others decided to go out for drinks.

"I'm glad we were able to do this. I needed a drink." Sophie said when she sat down next to her husband.

"Me too." Shelby said getting nods from the rest of the ladies, except Katherine as she's underage.

"Wait, we're missing someone." Sophie said.

"Spike is on his way. He went to get his girlfriend." Lou said while passing a drink to his girlfriend.

"Oh he has a girlfriend. I can't wait to meet her." Sophie said excitedly as Spike walked in with Natalie next to him.

"Hey guys, this is Natalie, my girlfriend." Spike said blushing.

"Hi Natalie sit down." Ed said and everyone moved to give them room. She sat down between Katherine and Spike because that was where she felt more comfortable. It took her a while to relax around them, but as soon as she realized how great they were she was able to let her guard down. Everyone continued drinking and talking about anything and everything. Jules got up to go to the bathroom and Natalie took the opportunity to follow her.

"Jules, can we talk?" Natalie asked nervously.

"Sure." Jules said and they walked outside to get some fresh air and talk in private. At first it was awkward and they didn't know how to approach the situation.

"I'm sorry that I forced Spike to tell me. I shouldn't have pushed."

"No Jules, I don't care about that. I'm glad you know. I am so tired of secrets." Natalie said and sighed.

"I know what you mean. I don't even know what do anymore. He won't talk and I can't even go around looking for information because I'm afraid my kids would be in danger."

"You know he loves you right? He's doing everything he can to make sure that you guys are safe. We just need to have faith that he can solve this problem."

"I do have faith in him. Always have, especially now, that I understand much better why he's acting like that but I miss him so much. It breaks my heart every time one of my kids asks me about him and I don't have the right answer for them." Jules said and cleared the tears from her eyes.

"You know, when I was growing up he used to tell me stories about you."

"He did?"

"Oh Sammy didn't talk about anything else but you and your brothers. He loves you guys so much I used to be jealous of you guys. Why I couldn't be with him and you guys could. I wanted my childhood with him and his other family but I never got the chance. So I moved here because I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to be closer to him, to you guys. I want to get to know those kids and love them like my own." Natalie said and started crying.

"Oh sweetie, he was trying to protect you. And he has done a great job with that. But now you are here and we can get to know each other. You can come around anytime and see the kids. We can wait for Sam together. We're a family now and things will be all right, I promise." Jules said and they hugged. After that they walked back to the group.

"Guys we were about send a search party after you." Spike said.

"We needed to talk." Jules said as she and Natalie smiled.

"Oh I can't believe who's here." A voice from behind them said and Jules froze. She turned around slowly to face her worst nightmare right in front of her.

"Adrian."

"Jules it's nice to see you."

"Too bad I can't say the same thing."

"Oh Jules, the hostility." Adrian said and addressed the group that was sitting.

"You don't fool me. What do you want?"

"Nothing. I just came by to say hi. How's Sam doing? Is he still looking sexy as hell?"

"He's fine."

"You don't sound very convincing. Are you sure he's fine?" Adrian said. Jules got a sick feeling that she was about to hear something she wouldn't like.

"What do you know?"

"She really does know me so well." Adrian told the group.

"Spit it out Adrian, I'm busy."

"I was just wondering how Sam was doing after he killed Matt."

"What?"

"Oh Julie you didn't know? He killed his best friend a year ago. I guess once a killer, always a killer."

"He is not a killer." Katherine said and got up and glared at Adrian.

"Oh and who is this? Aren't you kind of young to be in here?"

"I am old enough and I am her daughter." Katherine said.

"Wait, didn't you give your baby away? I guess you changed your mind." Adrian said. Jules paled while everyone gasp.

"How do you know about that?" Jules ask warily.

"Julie I know everything about you. I told you, I was going to do everything in my power to hurt you." Adrian said and laughed. That was all it took for Katherine to punch her in the face. She punched her so hard she fell on the floor.

"You don't talk to her like that." Katherine said while Spike holds one arm.

"Like mother, like daughter."

"You need to leave lady." Ed said while she stood up.

"See you soon Julie, say hi to Sam for me. Oh wait he's not even in the country. He might be dead already." Adrian said and walked away.

"Jules." Greg said.

"I have to go." Jules said and walked out the door with everyone following behind.

Royal Hotel

"General Braddock speaking."

"Sir, the children are with the babysitter and Callaghan is out with her team and their spouses. Everyone is clean except for a blond, Natalie Winters. She had some problems a few weeks ago with a guy that was stalking her and she's new to the city."

"Keep digging on her. I want everything."

"Yes sir."

"Also stay with the kids. Jules can take care of herself."

"Yes sir."

"Sir, General Callaghan is here." The secretary said from the door way.

"Thank you."

"Samuel have you heard anything?" Nathan asked while sitting down.

"Nothing. Last time I heard from them they said they had to go to some place and they wouldn't be able to communicate for a few days. Maybe tomorrow we'll hear something.

"I hope so. We're depending on them to find out about this threat." Nathan said and sighed in frustration.

"Yes we are." General Braddock said, tension radiating out from him.

Somewhere in the city

"Jules was at a bar with her teammates and their spouses. She got into an altercation with some woman."

"What woman?"

"Her name is Adrian or something. I couldn't get close enough."

"What the hell is that bitch doing here."

"You know her?"

"When I see you I am going to tie you up and beat the living daylight out of you."

"Sorry."

"Now did you get pictures and videos?"

"Yeah, also this woman seems to know a lot about Sam."

"That I don't doubt. She has a great source. Send me everything." The person said and hung up.

Charlie's house

"Michael what's going on? I am worried about you." Melissa said.

"I'm ok, Mel."

"You are not ok, just admit that you are worried about Charlie. She's going to be ok. She and Sam are together and you know those two are super humans or something."

"I know, but it's hard. She's my life."

"I know sweetie."

"Hey John, was that Angie calling?" Melissa asked.

"It was nobody."

"You spoke for too long for a nobody." Melissa murmurs. He sighed. She's starting to believe that they really do have a mole in the team.

Jules POV

I can't believe this. He's not in the country? He might be dead already? What the hell is she talking about? I just saw him two days ago. No he has to be all right. I would have felt it if something had happened to him. That is why I have known all along that he wasn't dead. That he was still alive, because the moment he takes his last breath my heart will break in two. He is my soul mate.

"Jules don't go." Greg said. No I can't face them. How I am supposed to explain about my baby girl, about our first baby.

"Mom, stop." Katherine said and grabs me. She turns me around and hugs me. I realize that I've being crying.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize, it was that woman's fault." Katherine snapped just as everyone reached us.

"Let's go sit down at the diner so we can talk." Ed said and everyone nodded.

I knew I had to explain and talk to them. I've being hiding this secret for too long already. Not even Sam knows and I wonder how the hell she found out.

"Jules are you all right?" Sophie asked when we were sitting down.

"No, I'm not. The things she said about me, about Sam, I don't know what to think. I am just so confused and scared."

"We know sweetie, everything is going to be ok." Shelby said.

"No, it's not. I have been scared in my life and I have gone through situations that I thought I couldn't survive, but I have never been this scared as I am now."

"You think she was telling the truth about Sam being dead." Wordy asked.

"It's not about that. He's not dead I would have felt it. He might not be in the country, but Sam is still alive and making sure that he comes back home. He always comes back and I know this time it will be the same."

"So what is it?"

"It's the fact that no one knew about the baby. Not Sam, or our families only one person knew and I hated him the moment he told me to get an abortion."

"Who knew?" Ed asked inpatient.

"General Braddock. Sam's father was the only one that knew I was pregnant when I was 16 years old." I said and everyone gasped.
