Rose ran a hand through her hair. It was well after midnight and both Tony and her had been working hard on a more stable connection between worlds. As Rose had feared the connect had cut out several times while she was talking to Tony about how to improve it. It was slightly better now, but it was still fading every now and then. Thankfully Tony had grown bored with pretending that the connection was cutting out and fading long ago.
"Hm?" Rose turned her head to the left and found Loki setting a cup of tea next to her. "Thanks Loki."
Loki gave her a smile. "Any luck?" He asked, taking a seat in the chair next to her.
"A little. There's still a little trouble here and there. I for see a long night a head." Rose picked up her cup and took a drink. "Where's Thor?"
"There was no way he would stay on the couch in the living room. We would both hear a loud crash of him falling off it before long. So I let him take the second bedroom."
"Where will you sleep?" Rose was surprise he would do that, but then again he had changed a fair amount since coming to her home.
"I will sleep on the couch." When Loki noticed that Rose appeared worried he place a hand on her shoulder. "I will be fine Rose. I assure you that couch is far more comfortable then most of the places I've slept in the past."
"Well, if you're sure Loki. There are extra pillows and blankets in the closet in the down stairs hall if you need them and the remote for the TV is on the coffee table. Would you like to take the tablet with you?"
"No, you may need to help fix this problem. Same with the laptop. I'm sure I can find plenty on the TV to keep me entertained. Goodnight Rose." Loki turned and left the room.
"Was that Reindeer Games?" Tony asked her.
"Yeah he just went to bed. So what do you think we should do next to?"
"Well I don't know about us but maybe Reindeer Games could use a kiss goodnight." Tony gave her a suggestive smile, figuring she could see him.
Rose shook her head. "Tony let's keep our minds on fixing the connection. Hopefully before dawn."
*TMG*
Steve, knowing Tony would be working still took a tray of sandwich down to his lab along with some coffee.
"Hey." Tony greeted as Steve set the tray down.
"Is Rose still up?" He asked.
"Yeah. We're still working on the problem. Going to be an all nighter." Tony answered as he ran the new program he had designed to help strengthen the comms.
Steve didn't like the sound of that. Rose seemed to be under plenty of stress already given all that happened in the last few days, the last thing she needed was to go with out sleep. "Is there nothing anyone else can do?
Tony sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. "Not that I can think of. Rosey and I have made some progresses but not much."
"What about Forge? Couldn't you bring him in on this?" It had been a while since Steve had last seen Forge in the tower.
"He was called upon for some mission. Hasn't finished yet and they can't reach him." Tony shrugged. "Spidy came by for a while but had to get home cause it's a school night. The problem with working with teenagers." Tony picked up the coffee cup and looked at Steve, "Warrior Girl still here?"
"Yes, we gave her a room here when she told us she was staying till Thor comes home." Everyone had tried to talk her into go back to Asgard but she refused. Saying how she wanted to be there when Thor got back. "When they do bring him back how can we know where they will end up?"
"The first time Rose came here, then Loki and I ended up at the school, and Rose's second time brought her here. So far it looks like she might end up here again, but we won't know till she comes back." Tony sighed. "Forge and I looked into this but with out using the device we have been working on we have no way to really know. Also since we've been working on it we can't be sure it will work the same way. For all I know whoever uses it will end up in a different world from what they're in."
"How's Rose?" Steve was surprise how silent she seemed to be. Well he was basing that on the fact that Tony was only responding to him.
"Well based on her snoring I would say she's fallen asleep. Figured I'd give her an hour before waking her back up." Tony was one of the few to know that Rose didn't drink coffee, meaning she had one less thing to help keep her awake. Tony suddenly smiled up at Steve. "She's dreaming about Reindeer Games." He chuckled.
Steve frowned in confusion for a moment before it clicked. "Oh. She really seems to care a lot for him."
"And he seems to be that same bout her. Could be old Reindeer Games just needed a hug back when we first met him." Tony joked.
"Stark you do know I will be coming to your tower again soon, remember?" Said person jumped when Loki's voice sounded in his ear.
"Thought you went to bed." Tony mouthed Loki's name to Steve to let him know who he was talking to.
"I tried but couldn't get any sleep and nothing worth watching is on TV at the moment. I see Rose has drifted off." Tony could hear a slight note of fondness in his voice.
"That was ten minutes ago. So when you gonna admit to Flower Child that you like her as more then a friend?"
Loki gave a small chuckle. "Oh Stark, the things I could do to you and no one would know it was me."
Tony paled a little. "Oh come on bestie. We're buddies, you wouldn't do that to me."
*TMG*
Loki had moved Rose over to her bed and was now sitting in her chair. "Don't be so sure Stark."
"You alright there? Don't sound much like yourself." Tony figured Loki was just tired like Rose and himself.
"I have been doing some thinking lately. About Rose and myself." Loki admitted.
"Oh, just what about you and her?" Tony was very interested now.
Loki gave a small sigh. "I have never known one such as her. I know not what brought me to her but am glad it did."
"Go on." He had an idea where this was going but couldn't wait to hear just how Loki would word it.
"Tell me Stark how does one court a mortal?" Loki suddenly heard choking on the other end. "Stark?"
"I'm fine!" Tony had been caught off guard by the word 'court' as he had taken a bite of his sandwich and nearly choked on it. "You want to know how to court a human?"
"Yes. I figured since you are known for your women you would know the best way." Loki shrugged.
"Why not ask Thor? He's got a human girl and he's from your fairyland."
"Please, have you ever asked him for advice? He may be good in battle, but I would not trust him to give me good advice regarding Rose." Loki shook his head. "No, I would rather ask you."
Tony thought about what Thor's advice would be fore a moment. "Alright. What do you want to know?"
"How do I show her my intentions?" Loki wanted to make sure there would be no confusion when he finally got around to showing her he cares.
"Well what would you normally do?" Tony asked.
"On Asgard we give live stock mostly. Cows, chickens, horses are most popular." Loki answered. When he saw Tony's smirk and how he was trying not to laugh Loki frowned. "What?"
"Sorry, that's just so old fashion. And I don't think she has room for any of those."
"Well then what do you suggest?" Loki didn't want o do the wrong thing and end up with Rose hating him.
"Well most girls tend to like jewelry and flowers, even chocolate. But something tells me that Rosey won't be so easy." Tony answered. He heard Loki sigh, clearly not liking how long this was taking. "What you need to do is get her something that she'll like. Something that means something to her. I'm sure your magic mumbo jumbo can find something."
That did sound like a good idea. But Loki didn't know much about Rose's likes and dislikes. He knew some of the foods she likes and doesn't. But little else. "Anything else?"
"I don't know. Pep talks about how the little things I do for her mean a lot. Try doing some more things for Rose. Not because she asks you to. They hate it when they have to ask us too do something. If you think it will help her or make her happy do it."
Loki nodded. He could think of a few things that he knew Rose would be grateful to him for doing. He then thought about one major thing that Rose wanted that he could see about getting her. Problem was it would take a lot of time for him to find it. "I have a few ideas. Any other advice?"
Tony thought for a moment before shrugging. "When in doubt just tell her what you're feeling. Or show her."
"How do I show her?" Loki ran a hand through his hair before looking over to Rose as she rolled over in her sleep.
"Kiss her. Put everything you have into that one kiss. There's no way she won't understand just what you're saying if you put everything into that kiss." Tony was mostly speaking from personal experience. After all he had been struggling to tell Pepper how he felt before he kissed her on the roof top.
Loki licked his lips. It was a very tempting suggestion. And he did want to kiss Rose so badly. Problem was the last time he had gotten close Rose had snapped out of what ever trance and left him longer for the kiss he never got. "I just hope should it come to that I am able to go through with the act as you have suggested." Loki sighed.
"I hear you on that." Tony sighed, remembering his own trouble with Pepper. Despite all things, Tony wished Loki luck. Rose was good for Loki and he was willing to bet his life that he was good for her.
