Bellamy's POV
"Bellamy? Bell! What's going on?" I can hear Clarke's voice surrounding me, but nothing can cut through the pain. My eyes are tightly shut and my hands are fists. I can feel my shark starting to take over which happens when we're in danger or pain. I try to warn Clarke to move away from me but I can't manage to open my mouth to tell her.
Her hands reach out to grab me and her fingers wrap around my forearms. I only can tell that she's touching me because where her skin touches mine the searing pain disappears. I hold back the shark and use my strength to push off of the volcano's edge to fall against her. Her arms welcome me and she lets her hand rest against my back and she starts to rub it. When she hits my dorsal fin the pain dissipates completely after a flash of bright light circles us.
Clarke swims away from me and when I open my eyes I see her staring with wide eyes. She looks confused, scared, and there is another emotion in her eyes that I can't read. I look down at her tail and see that it's a swirling mixture of my grey and her blue.
"Why is your tail that color?" I ask her.
"I don't know. It's not supposed to happen like that. It's just one scale; not half of me." She flings her arms up in the air. "And why don't you have anything?"
"Clarke, have you really not noticed? Look at me closely." I say when I look down to my hands and feet.
"What, that your fin is still grey?" She swims back over to me.
"No, look at my hands. Look at my feet." I hold them out for her to get a clearer view of them.
"What is it?" She reaches out to touch my right hand that has swirling lines all over them. They are light so they look like just some old scars but we both know better.
"I want to show you something." I say and flip my hand over so that she's now holding it. "Follow me."
"Okay."
I let go of her hand and swim ahead. In mid swim I let my magic take over to turn me. I feel the calming flow of water going into me. As I feel the caccoon of water my legs start to web and my arms go down to my side and start to meld into my now leathery skin. My face elongates into a mouth full of two rows of sharp teeth. When it's all finished I turn back to Clarke and motion with my tail for her to follow me.
"This way." I think at her.
"I'm coming." She thinks back and then I catch a thought that she didn't mean for me to. "He's beautiful."
I lead the way to my secret cave. It's the place I've been going to since I was five and fell into it. No one knows about it at all. It's my haven, but I feel like it's time for me to share it with someone and Clarke is the right person. As much as I wish I could say that I hate her I never have. Even when we were young and I was constantly teasing her I loved her. Wait? Did I just say love? I meant care for; like. Crap! What is this girl doing to me?
I just hope that she can't hear my thoughts like I can hear hers. I swim downward to the cave and feel when Clarke grabs my dorsal fin. I pull us down even farther to the darkness of the bottom of the ocean. When we get inside the cave is lit up entirely by bio-luminescing algae.
"Wow, this place is amazing." Clarke breathes.
I shift back to my human self and smile at her. "This is my haven. You're the only person that's seen it."
"I know. You told me everything on the way." She gives me a small smile with a blush covering her cheeks. "And Bell?"
I scoot closer to her so that there is no room for even an eel to swim between us. I look down to her lips and then back up to her eyes. "Yes?"
"I think I might, you know? Like you too." She says with bright eyes. "But, it could just be the whole situation is getting to me."
It hurts that she doesn't exactly believe it, but it's a step in the right direction. I use my fingers to lift her chin up so that I can place a gentle kiss on her lips. When our lips touch a bright blue, glowing light emanates from my skin. We pull back and look down. The small marks all over my skin are now a blue that matches Clarke's tail.
"We match, Princess." I chuckle.
