Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail.
She sits on his kitchen counter swinging her feet and babbling away at a mile a minute.
Gajeel's head reels with the effort to fix them something to eat and keep up with the latest synopsis in a book series she is adamantly in love with.
If he wasn't the one to invite her over in the first place, he would have sent her back to Fairy Hills a long time ago.
He curses his luck to hell and back because her eyes are bright and her grin is wide and her voice is breathy from excitement or an adrenaline rush or whatever's obviously in those books that elates her this much. There is no way he can just tell her to shut up, especially after being on the winning streak for this month. Two weeks without an actual, serious argument is a cause for celebration in his book and he's not about to relent his bragging rights to Salamander (who's at a close twelve days and two hours without sending Lucy off her rocker).
Dinner's almost ready and she hasn't stopped once. Either she's been spending too much time in the library or he has a bigger presence in her life than he originally thought (Lily's added commentary to the situation, as it were).
Gajeel tries not to interrupt but without a pause or a comma or period or a semicolon (how the hell does he even know what that is?), their dinner is going to get cold at this point. Besides, he doesn't cook for just anyone, let alone tells the same anyone that he can actually cook. His hands are tied and really, what other option is there?
He delves into his heightened senses and whirls on her in a flash, trapping her to the spot with one hand on each side of her legs. She's mid-word, so he manages to catch her upper lip between his lips and the squeak her words melt into is nice. Gajeel lifts his hand to curl around the nape of her neck and brings her as close as he can and trying every which angle until she doesn't remember what sentence structure even is.
He breaks away for a breath and it gives her just enough time to shatter his victory.
"I was wondering how long it would take you to do that."
