Rain poured down from the heavens as the four brothers stared in shock and fear at the armoured figure in front of them.
"The time for games has ended." Saki sneered, "No more charades." He removed the helmet from his head, eyes focusing on Donatello, "My how you have grown Donatello. You look so much like your Mother."
"Who you murdered!" Leo yelled, as Saki chuckled, placing the helmet back on his head.
"She tried to protect you from me… but she should have known that it was always going to come down to this. Me, as your doom."
The brothers were silent for a few moments, before Donnie nervously spoke up. "Well… he's your friend Leo."
"I like his style." Mikey whispered, "It's nice…. Sharply-dressed, get it!"
"Shut up Mikey!" Raph hissed, "Leo, what do we do?"
"Fight for our lives."
"FOOT NINJA ATTACK!" Shredder growled, "DESTROY THEM!"
The ninja all ran at them, and for a moment, the fight was going well. Mikey had shifted into a tiger, growling at the three, opposing ninja, only to be kicked to the side, one rib cracking under the force of it.
Leo suffered the same fate, his mini tornado cutting off mid breeze, as he rolled back to his feet. Thankfully, he managed to cushion the blow slightly, coming out with minor bruises.
Donnie's bo staff was grabbed from behind and he was flung to the other side of the roof, landing heavily on his back in a puddle, winded from the impact. As he opened his eyes, he yelped at the sight of a ninja leaping towards him, katana at the ready.
"DONNIE!"
Blocking the sai with his katana, Raph used his foot to push Donnie away.
"Watch yer back Brainiac!"
"Isn't that why you're here?"
Raph smirked, using his sai to flick the katana away… right towards Mikey and Leo.
"Leo! Low bridge!" They both ducked as the katana flew over their heads, right into a power box, which then exploded, flames spreading over the rooftops. As the younger ones tried to deal with the rest of the ninja, Leo and Raph found themselves face to face with the Shredder, who took them out easily, knocking them to the ground, far too close to the flames.
This was not going according to plan.
…..…..
"Boys!" Yoshi frowned at the silence as he wandered around the home, "I have been in deep meditation regarding the Shredder and- "
Silence.
"- and you're not here." He made his way over to Donnie's room… and then his lab, checking to see if his youngest had been dragged into everything once again.
And he had.
He sighed in exasperation, "I can't even take a few minutes to meditate without these kids running off!" Over by Donnie's computer, he spotted a note, "Hmmm, what is the one thing I did not want them to do… Face the Shredder. Of course that's what they've decided to do."
He groaned, "I'm going grey! I'm actually going grey."
He grabbed the Battle-truck's keys from the table and stormed out of the lair.
He had to find his sons.
…
Donnie yelped as a horse came flying out of nowhere, taking out the two ninja he was facing.
"Nice landing Mikey!" he beamed at his brother, helping his brother to his feet.
"They don't call me Air-Mikey for nothing."
On the other side of the building, Leo struggled against the grip of five ninjas after loosing his katana over the side of the building. He couldn't blow them off the building, not without blowing himself off too.
And then the Shredder moved through the flames.
"You remind me so much of your Mother." The Shredder sneered, raising his bladed gauntlet into the air, "I'll kill you first."
Before he could strike however, the building started to rumble and shake, the roof crumbling and cracking.
"WHAT?!"
The ninja who were holding Leo suddenly jumped away, leaving Leo alone as he backed up towards the edge of the rooftop, until he went just a little too far. Screaming in alarm, he fell off the edge, only just managing to use the wind to slow his fall before he landed on top of a car.
Donnie leapt off the building soon afterwards, trying to cling onto a streetlamp, only to miss and fall to the ground with a groan of pain.
Raph landed in a dumpster, which then slammed shut on top of him.
"Guys…" Donnie muttered, "… I think I have another concussion."
Glancing over to his left, he winced at the sight of Mikey, who was moving a large block of concrete off his leg.
"We can't take you anywhere, huh Mikey?"
"Hey! I was trying to move but the building jumped out and attacked me!"
Helping his brother to his feet, Donnie winced again at the odd angle of Mikey's ankle. "I think… that's broken."
"Duh!"
Leaning heavily on his brother, Mikey led them away from the scene, peering back when they heard more concrete falling to the ground.
"Uh-oh." Mikey whispered, watching as the Shredder moved through the burning doorway, red eyes almost seeming to glow in the dark, "Tell me I'm not seeing this."
"I-I wish I could."
They hid behind a dumpster as the Shredder growled out orders to his surviving ninja.
"Find them! They can't be far… and they cannot be allowed to escape! Bring them to me, so that I can finish them off myself!"
Everyone disappeared just as sirens echoed through the streets.
Underneath the car that he'd landed on, Leo had heard everything as well. "I need to find the others." He muttered to himself, pulling his katana back towards him, rolling out into the shadows, "We need to re-group."
….
In the dumpster, Raph peered out. "Please leave…" he whispered under his breath, "… please leave, it really smells in here."
The ninja almost seemed to hear his silent pleas, disappearing up onto the rooftops. Carefully, he climbed out, flicking a banana skin off his jacket.
…..….
Slowly making their way through the streets, Mikey leaned heavily on his younger brother. "Donnie…" he panted, wincing in pain as he jostled his ankle, "… we need to go back."
"I know." They leant against a nearby lamp-post, "But you're in no shape to fight Mikey. If you were a horse, they'd have put you down by now."
"… I can be a horse if you want?"
"Were you not listening?" Donnie groaned, "Let's get that ankle wrapped up, and then we can focus on looking for the others."
Eventually, they made their way into a nearby alleyway.
"Let's rest for a- " Donnie cut himself off at the sight of the Shredder at the opposite end of the alleyway.
"I think he brought some friends." Mikey whispered, spotting the number of foot ninja that had appeared at the other side of the alleyway, "Hold onto me."
Helping each other, the pair climbed into the fire escape that was just above them, remaining silent as the two group of ninja met in the middle of the alleyway.
"Nothing!" The Shredder scowled, "Keep searching!"
The two brothers winced, climbing in through an open window and into someone's bathroom, where Mikey immediately took a seat on the edge of the bath.
"This is killing me…" he whimpered, gesturing at his ankle, "… you should just leave me here, I'll only slow you down and if the Shredder gets you then- "
"- Mikey, shut up." Donnie started to search through the bathroom cupboards, "You've only sprained it. I can fix that easy! I remember reading in one of those medical books, that we need to wrap it up tightly."
And then he spotted the stockings hanging up over the bathroom. Yanking them free, he started to wrap Mikey's ankle up as his older brother messed around with various bathroom items.
"Mikey, knock it off, we need to- "
The door creaked open to reveal a boy standing in the doorway, mouth slowly dropping open in shock.
"Sssshhhh!" Donnie hissed, only for the boy to yelp in shock.
"MOM! MOM! Someone's stealing your stockings! Someone's stealing your stockings!"
"Come on!" the pair clung onto the washing line that stretched out between two buildings and shimmied across, gone long before the boy could manage to drag his mother into the room.
….
"Something really stinks around here."
"Don't look at me!"
Raph slammed their heads together, letting them fall unconscious to the ground, before sniffing at himself. "I don't smell that bad… do I?"
And then something grabbed his hand and yanked him back into the shadows, causing him to have a minor freak out.
"Let me go! Let me go or I will fu- "He winced as his Father raised an eyebrow at him, "-dge you up. I will fudge you up, except obviously, I won't now. The others, we got all split up and- "
"- We need to find them then." Yoshi sighed, "As soon as possible."
…..
Leo winced as he was backed up against the wall, katana out at the ready as the foot ninja stared him down. Before they could lunge at him however, a stranger dropped in the middle of the group, a golden medallion hanging around his neck as he pulled a sword out from inside his long trench coat.
A sword which then started to glow, almost like Donnie's staff when charged up.
"What the- "
…..….
Mikey and Donnie limped through the streets.
"How long before we- "
Two shadows dropped down in front of them, causing Donnie to yelp in surprise, dropping Mikey and pulling his bo staff out defensively.
"Donatello…" Yoshi held his hands up in mock surrender, "… relax."
Donnie sighed in relief, "Boy, am I glad to see you guys!"
"With his groaning, we heard you… two… miles… away." Raph trailed off, eyes widening at the sight of Mikey leaning against the wall, groaning loudly in pain, as if his injury was worse than what it was, "Mikey! Mikey, are you okay?"
"I-I don't know if I can make it." Mikey whimpered, "… Raphie, is that you? E-everything's going dark! Tell Raph- tell Raph- "
"- I'm right here Mikey! I'm here!"
"Tell Raph… that he's always been… a huge cheesehead!"
Raph scowled as Mikey cackled in glee.
"I can't believe you fell for that! Oh, the lights! Everything's going dark!"
"I'm gonna knock your lights out in a minute!"
Before Raph could land the punch, Yoshi quickly spoke up. "Raphael. Michelangelo, enough! If we could hear you, then so could the Foot Ninja. We need to find Leonardo and get home quickly."
"We could leave Mikey behind…" Raph smirked, "… we'd be much faster without him."
"Hey!"
Donnie patted down his shirt, frowning when all he pulled out was his mobile. "I haven't got the remote for the Battle truck! And there's no way I can- "
Yoshi smirked and pulled the remote out of his pocket.
"Great!" Donnie exclaimed, "Now we can- "
He stopped again, eyes widening at the sight of all the Foot Ninja standing at the end of the alleyway.
"- panic because we're completely surrounded?"
There were ninja at the other end as well, all starting to come closer and closer, pinning them in.
"Dad, use the remote and get the Battle Truck!" Donnie pulled out his bo staff, spinning it around as the ninja lunged into action.
Of course, this left Yoshi to stand there, pressing at the buttons on the remote, getting more and more frustrated by the minute. As Donnie backed towards him, he grabbed his son by the arm and shoved the remote into his hands.
"You drive. I'll fight."
As his Father leapt into action, Donnie pressed the rather obvious, big red button, that would summon the truck to the remote's GPS location.
"Dad!" Raph gasped in amazement, as all the ninja lay around them, stunned or unconscious, "You kicked ass!"
….
Leo tensed as the man with the glowing sword looked right at him. However, this soon gave way to shock as the man lunged at the surrounding ninja, slicing easily through their weapons and knocking them out swiftly.
And then the man started walking towards him.
"Okay…" Leo pressed himself up against the wall, "… this is new. You're definitely a ninja, but you not one of them?"
"I am simply a guardian. Beyond that, I cannot tell you anything more."
"That's… helpful."
"I am sorry. But I cannot reveal everything to you just now. Just know that you and your brothers are caught up in a battle, far bigger than yourselves."
Leo frowned, "Saki told me as much."
"Yes. It was the only truth that Shredder told you. But know this…" The man stepped closer, "… by rejecting the Shredder and his evil, you have made an ally this day." He held out his hand and Leo slowly lowered his katana, before sheathing them and shaking the man's hand.
And then there was light.
….
"Slow down Raphael. You are driving too quickly!" Yoshi scolded, as they pulled in in a nearby alleyway, headlights landing on Leo and a strange man, "And that left turn was far too sharp."
"Jeez Dad, you've been back-seat driving the whole way!"
The top of the truck opened up and Donnie popped up. "Hey Leo, need a ride?"
"Sure, I need to introduce you guys to- " Leo stopped, quickly realising that he was completely alone in the alleyway, "- the mystery ninja."
Once in the truck, the brothers all crowded around each other.
"Good to see you Leo!" Mikey beamed from his seat; ankle still strapped up.
"Yeah, we were all pretty worried!"
"Yes, we were." Yoshi moved to stand in front of them, but now that you are safe- "With four swift movements, all four of them were hit around the back of their hands.
"HEY!" "Ow! "OW! "What was that for!" they all protested, hands flying to the back of their heads in order to try and soothe the ache
"For being foolish!" Yoshi scolded them, "You should never have tried to go up against the Shredder alone! He is too powerful!"
"You're telling us!" Donnie nodded in agreement, "I think I've got bruises on my bruises!"
"And did you guys see how he walked straight through that fire?" Leo asked, as the other brothers winced at the memory and nodded their heads.
"Yeah, he's like the… Shredinator or something!"
Yoshi raised an eyebrow at Mikey, before shaking his head wearily. "You boys have stirred the hornets' nest. He will not rest until he finds us."
"So… what do we do Dad?"
There was a brief moment of silence, before Yoshi smirked. "We let him find us. I've longed wished to avenge my beloveds' death. Now is the perfect time."
Donnie frowned, "But… how are we going to let him find us?"
"Sit still."
Mikey cackled at this, "I don't know Dad, sitting still isn't one of our strong points!"
Stony silence.
After a nervous gulp, Mikey nodded eagerly, "Right…. Sitting still it is. I like sitting still. Sitting still it is!"
…
A little over an hour later, as the brothers and Yoshi waited on the roof of a nearby building, dozens of ninja suddenly appeared, closely followed by their Master.
"Dude." Mikey hissed in surprise, cutting himself off when Leo sent him a glare.
Pushing Donnie behind him slightly, Raph tensed as the Shredder narrowed his eyes at them. "So… we let the butt-kicking begin."
"FOOT NINJA, ATTACK!"
The two groups leapt at each other.
"Remember my sons…" Yoshi gently spoke over their communicators, "… even the strongest of oaks will bend to a storm."
Eventually, he stopped with the helpful comments and started reprimanded Mikey for using his bad ankle to knock out the ninjas.
"Shift into something a little more useful Michelangelo!"
Then the Shredder appeared out of nowhere and kicked Mikey right into the water tower.
"YEOWCH!"
Yoshi moved to help his second youngest, only to spot the Shredder appearing behind his youngest.
"DONATELLO!" he cried out, his scream drowned out by thunder rolling overhead. Thankfully, Raph was there, knocking Shredder away.
"GET THEM!"
As Leo used wind to blow a flurry of shuriken away from him and his brothers, Yoshi forced himself to relax, focusing back on helping his sons.
"Hold your staff higher Donatello, sweep out with your left foot!"
"Are you really backseat-ninjaing me?" Donnie shocked two of the ninja, only to yelp at the sight of Shredder standing right in front of him. The gauntleted man grabbed him by the throat, spinning around to slash at an unaware Leo.
"NO!"
Raph managed to block the blow with his sai, turning worried eyes on Donnie, who was trying to find a weak spot in the Shredders armour. Swiftly, the Shredder kicked Raph in the stomach, winding him and sending him flying straight into his twin, who yelped in pain again.
"How much do I have to squeeze I wonder." The Shredder mused, tightening his grip on Donnie as Leo spun around to face him, "Will he suffocate first, or will his neck snap."
Before Leo could lash out, the Shredder turned a cold glare on him. "Drop. Your. Weapons."
When Leo hesitated, the Shredder's grip tightened slightly, and Donnie whined. He dropped the katana instantly.
"Go and stand with your brothers."
Slowly, Leo backed away, all eyes focused on their youngest brother.
"None of you will leave here alive!"
"NOOOOO!"
A foot hit the Shredder in the face, stunning him into letting go of Donatello.
"You killed my wife." Yoshi growled, pushing his sons behind him, as the oldest all crowded around a gasping Donnie, "You will not do the same to my sons!"
"NO-ONE CAN DEFEAT ME! NO-ONE!"
"Your memory has got worse with age!" Yoshi sneered, "I used to defeat you all the time." Hitting a pressure point in the Shredders' back (how, the boys couldn't figure out), the man leapt over to stand in front of the water tower, beckoning the Shredder closer.
As the Shredder charged at him, Yoshi used his opponents' anger against him, ducking and dodging as the Shredder sliced through the metal structure holding the water tower upright.
The tower wobbled precariously.
"This is for my wife!" Yoshi snarled, leaping up and kicking the tower, sending it falling right on top of the Shredder, washing him and his ninja right off the edge of the roof. As Shredder tried to push himself to his feet, the wooden part of the tower landed right on top of him.
"Dad!" Leo was the first to come rushing over, as Yoshi watched from the edge of the room.
Mikey was next, carrying Donnie on his back, "Dad, are you okay?"
Yoshi sighed deeply, "Come. I have avenged my love. Let us go home."
"A-Agreed." Donnie spluttered out, his Father giving him a concerned look at the roughness of his voice.
"Home never sounded so good."
