Chapter 37
I wake up to the sound of someone screaming. I quickly jump out of bed and run out of my room to see both Aya and Yusuke burst out of their rooms, we all quickly glance at one another then run over to Maka's room and open her door to see her in bed sitting up gasping for air. she looked like she was in a trance, still half asleep. I slowly walk up to her bed trying not to spook her and Aya and Yusuke follow. As I get closer she flinches in fear and I sit down next to her.
"Maka?" I said grasping her hand and I see the light return to her eyes and she begins to focus on us,
"What... what's going on?" she asked,
"You were dreaming," Aya said
"And by the look on your face it wasn't a pleasant dream." Yusuke said
"Tell us what happened." I said
"I dreamt that Sonic was robotisized and one by one she started killing us..." she said as tears filled her eyes,
"Sonic? don't you mean Saya?" Aya said as Maka shakes her head,
"No, as in this was like reliving a past life," she explained, "we were are old selves."
"maybe your past self was trying to tell you something." Yusuke said, the alarms start to sound. without a word we all run to the computer room where Sally and Elias are watching the monitors,
"What's happening?" I asked
"Eggman's been spotted in town," Sally said, Kolt runs into the room,
"Then what are we waiting for?" he said as we all transform,
"What do we do if Sonic... I mean if Saya if there?" Tails asks,
"We beat her to a pulp and drag her home." Shadow said
"Because that worked so well last time." Blaze said
"We were thrown off last time," Knuckles said
"And what we're suddenly ready this time?" Blaze argued,
"We don't have time for this people could be in danger." Tails said
"You okay to fight Cream?" Shadow asked
"Yes... Saya needs us, I can't afford to sit on the sidelines." I said
"Then let's go," Knuckles said and we all run to the hanger bay and climb onto the Twin Tornado and fly off the location.
once we arrive it already looks like several buildings have been destroyed, it doesn't take us long to find Eggman with a small group of Swatbots.
"I don't see her," Blaze said
"Good, then hopefully this will be easy," Knuckles said
"I wouldn't count on it." Shadow said as Tails lands the Twin Tornado and we run over and stop Eggman
"Well, well, well... it would appear that the sewer rat's have recovered." Eggman laughed, as all the Swatbots aim their weapons at us.
"Let's get 'em." Blaze said taking no time setting several of the Swatbots on fire. and one by one we strike them down until just a few were left,
"I think it's time to bring out the big guns." Eggman said snapping his fingers and Sonic appears in front of him,
"you called?" she said
"Yes, there are some pests here for you to fight." Eggman said and she turns to is, staring us down with those blood red eyes.
"Ah! here for another beating?" she said as I was struck with fear, there was nothing in her eyes... just bloodlust. in a flash she charges straight for us only to be stopped by Shadow,
"Not this time." Shadow said holding her down as Knuckles comes from the side but Sonic counterattacks by grabbing onto shadows wrists and throwing her at Knuckles who catches her but falls over in the process. both Blaze and Tails charge at the same time only for Sonic to blow them away with a spin dash.
"Is that all you got?" Sonic laughed, "At least give me a challenge," then all four of them jump up and charge her together, she easily dodges all of their attacks and then spins so fast causing a small tornado that knocks them all down again,
"Tails, any ideas?" Knuckles asks
"She knows all of our moves, we're at a disadvantage." I finally snap out of it and run over to help Shadow to her feet,
"Thanks," she said and in a flash Sonic stands in front of us
"Aw, how cute." Sonic said as Shadow pushes me back,
"Cream, stay b..." Shadow is struck back and there's nothing standing between me and Sonic.
"looks like there's no one to protect you." she said "Say goodbye," she said raising her hand to strike me down,
"Please stop Mr. Sonic!" I cried out not knowing what I was saying. but instead of feeling a strike from her I hand, I look to see her backing away from me looking confused and her hands shaking,
"What?" she said confused
"Sonic!" Eggman yelled as she jumps back to his side, "Return to base immediately." he said as she nods and disappears right in front of us. "We'll play again next time, but you won't be so lucky." he said as he disappears with his remaining Swatbots.
"What just happened?" Knuckles asked but all I could do was stand there,
"You called her Mr. Sonic." Yusuke said
"The... old me came out..." I said
"What does that mean?" Blaze said
"That's what you used to call Sonic in our past lives, what you called all of us in our past lives." Tails said "Your mother taught you to be very polite." she said
"Yes... " I said
"And somehow that caused Sonic to react..." Yusuke said
"Maybe Sonic is still in there!" Aya said
"I hope your right." Knuckles said as Tails walks over to the Twin tornado, "For now let's get back and rest up." he said
"Not yet..." Tails said transforming back into Maka,
"Why not?" Shadow asked transforming into Yusuke, we all transform and climb into the Twin tornado and it lands in her neighborhood.
"What are we doing here Maka?" Aya asked as we follow her down a side walk and I realize what house were standing in front of.
"Something we should of done for a while." she said knocking on the door to see Saya's mom and dad open the door,
"I'm sorry to barge in so suddenly... but you need to know what happened to Saya..."
