Yugi's Sacrifice

Sapphira's P.O.V.

Once we knew that everyone was sleeping, we left in the night on Rebecca's horse. We got to the site that Rafael wanted to duel in record time. Hopefully, now that the Pharaoh is here, he will release Rebecca's Grandfather. She was deeply worried for his safety.

I got on the sidelines to watch the duel between them. Yugi switched with Yami and began the duel. I saw Rafael try to tempt Yami into using the seal. Eventually Yami did, despite Yugi's warnings and lost the duel. However, what happened next made my blood run cold.

Just as the seal was about to take Yami, Yugi pushed him out of the way. Yami was just as shocked as I was about his actions as he explained. " It only needs one of us. So I'm letting the seal take me instead."

I was shocked at his words as tears started to fall. " No! Yugi! Please don't do this to me! Please!"

Yugi turned to me with a sad smile on his face. " I'm sorry Sapphira. I can't let Yami be taken. So I'm letting it take me instead." Then I heard Yugi's voice in my mind that I recognized from my mental link with Zahara.

Please don't cry Sapphira. I know what I'm doing. Yami has darkness in his heart because of the seal. Before he faces Dartz he needs to learn to control that darkness or he will never win against Dartz.

I know that he will beat himself for this, but I know that he'll find a way to come back from this. I have faith in him. Just like I have faith in you. I looked at Yugi confused before he explained.

I want you to promise me something Sapphira. Please look after Yami for me. Make sure that he stays safe so that he can reach Dartz safely. I have complete faith that he will be able to save me and everyone else from the seal. Can you promise me this Sapphira?

I gave Yugi a sad smile before I nodded with tears in my eyes. I watched with sadness and tears slowly falling from my eyes as the seal took him from me. I closed my eyes as the light faded as I thought about Yugi's words and the promise I made. I promise Yugi, I will keep Yami safe. Even at the cost of sacrificing myself to seal as well.
