Chapter 35
Two weeks later Ryu, Kitty, Kai, and Rahne land at Tokyo international airport. "See you in three weeks Logan-San." Logan waves goodbye and takes off in the blackbird. As the group of New Mutants gather their bags Kai hears two voices calling him in unison.
{"Kai-Chan over here."} {"Mother, father I didn't know you were going to meet us here ?"} {"We had to come pick everyone up Kai-Chan besides I didn't get to say goodbye when you left."} {"Sorry father Ryu-Chan and Xavier-Sama were in a little bit of a hurry when they came."} Kenji Misuno looks past his son to see three people walk towards them. {"Are these your friends Kai-Chan ?"} {"Yes father this is my girlfriend Rahne Sinclare, Ryu-Chan and his girlfriend Kitty Pride."} Kenji Misuno looks on in shock. {"Ryu-Chan why I haven't seen you since you were a little boy. You look almost like your father. I almost thought I was looking at a ghost."} {"I sorry I couldn't stay longer last time Uncle Kenji but the way Kai-Chan's powers were Xavier-Sama figured the sooner the better."}
Both Kitty and Rahne tried to follow the conversation. Kitty's Japanise was shaky at best and Rahne had no clue what was being said aside from her and Kitty's names being said. Rahne desides to break her silence. "Hello there Mr. and Mrs. Misuno it's great to meet you." Kenji notices the shaky words that Rahne was trying to say. "I am sorry Sinclare-San I forgot some americans can't speak Japanise."
"I am actually from Scottland not America." "That would explain why you rolled some of the letters when you spoke. I remember when I took both Kai-Chan and Kasumi-Chan to the british islands. I didn't get to see much of the sights it was mainly a business trip for me. I should show you some of the pictures that we took the one with Kai-Chan in a kilt was adorable." Kai looks on in embarassment at what his father was talking about he remembered getting teased by some of his classmates when he showed that picture to his class. Kasumi Misuno desided to intervine. "I know you want to catch up with everyone Kenji-Chan but I think we should go home so everyone can get settled in."
After a long drive they finally reach the Misuno family home. "I almost forgot what home looked like." "So Pride-San, Sinclare-San, Ryu-Chan what powers do you have ?" "Well I can phase through solid objects." "I can metamorph into ether a werewolf or a full wolf." "I can amplify my strenght and speed tenfold in an instant." "I hope you don't get into any fights Ryu-Chan you could really hurt somebody." "You don't have to worry about that Uncle Kenji. I have more control over my powers than when they first manifested." Suddenly the car gets a flat. "Oh no I don't have a jack. We're going to have to call a tow truck." Ryu gets out of the car. "Do you have a spare tire Uncle Kenji ?" "Without a jack we can't change the tire Ryu-Chan." "We don't need one." Ryu quickly looks around to make sure nobody was watching and then lifts the car up. "I can't beleave you can lift that Ryu-Chan." Kenji then changes the tire.
When they entered the house they smelled the aroma of food being cooked. "Oh my ! I hope the stew I was making isn't burned. I thought we would have a western style dinner tonight." "Kasumi-Chan dear isn't that stew supposed to have garlic in it? I don't smell any." Rahne begins to cringe but then her enhanced sense of smell dosen't detect any garlic as it would have enflamed her sinuses. "I didn't use garlic because Sinclare-San is alergic to it."
Rahne sighs in releaf that she wouldn't be sneezing her head off on vacation. She felt a little jealous at Kai for having parents who care about him for unlike some of her friends her parents wanted nothing to do with her after they found out that she was a mutant in fact her father ruthlessly beat her before chasing her off their family farm.
Flashback two years ago
"Take this you worthless freak !" "Papa please stop. Your hurting me !" Rodrick Sinclare looks on in anger. "Don't you ever call me that you piece of trash. As far as I am concerned I have no daughter." He then beats Rahne brutally and then grabs a pitchfork Rahne then runs for her life and dosen't stop until she was miles into the woods.
End flashback
Rahne eyes start to tear up because of the memory and Kitty heard her starting to cry. "Rahne are you alright ?" "No Kitty seeing Kai with his parents makes me remember what happened to me and I can't help but feel like jealous about it. All I was to my mother and father was a worthless freak. Remember the day you were helping me with my swimsuit and you saw the scars on my back ?" "Yeah they looked like welt marks of somekind."
"My father put those there by beating me with a belt before running me off the family land with a pitchfork all because I was a Mutant. I never even told the Professor about them for fear he might hurt my father for it. I know it sounds stupid but I still care about papa even if he thinks I am nothing but a worthless freak." Rahne can't hold back the tears anymore and starts to cry. she then unknowingly tranforms into werewolf form. Kai hears Rahne crying in Kitty's arms and wonders what happened he then grabs Rahne and puts her head on his shoulder.
"What happened to Rahne-Chan to make her cry Pride-San ?" "When she saw how you and your parents were getting along it made her remember what she went through with her parents." As Kitty told Kai the details he starts thinking about what he should do. "Rahne-Chan you're not a worthless freak and your father should be ashamed for the dishonor he caused you. If anything he should've commited seppuku for what he did to you."
As Kai says this his mother comes in with dinner and demands Kai explain why he would say such a thing about someone he never met. After hearing the tale both Kasumi and Kenji Misuno were horrorfied about what Rahne went through. After Rahne calms down enough to transform back into human form Kasumi Misuno takes Rahne's hand and makes her a promise. "I am not trying to push you into anything Sinclare-San but if the day ever comes that you were to marry Kai-Chan I would proudly call you my daughter." Kenji Misuno overhears this and intervines "As would I Sinclare-San you should have never had to go through that." Rahne continues to cry however instead of sadness she is overwhelmed by the kindness that Kai and his family shows her. After she calms down they all sat down for dinner.
