"Can I have a kiss?"

Suddenly, the Captain stopped writing; he was frozen and his eyes opened more than usual, showing the surprise on his face right after hearing that. During the couple seconds he took before answering, Petra's voice flew around his head a thousand times, making him feel entirely conscious about the meaning of her words.

"What did you say?" he didn't completely turn to look at her; his face only moved a few inches that allowed him to see her face; a defensive attitude.

"I said, can I have a kiss?" Petra had her heard leaning on her right hand, casually as if she was talking about an entire different subject.

"…Petra…" Levi was still organizing his thoughts, trying to think about a consistent answer; it was the last thing he expected to hear.

"I know I might not be the most adequate person to ask this from you, and perhaps you are not willing to give it just like that …." Petra said and her expressive eyes showed what she really meant to say; that silly crush on her Captain could be the cause of many complications, especially considering the situation they were in, not to mention Levi's personality, and despite Petra being a strong, secure and successful woman, she wouldn't try to initiate another kind of relationship with him, the simple idea of it might be as distant as the moon… "so, I'm only asking for a kiss"

With a series of calculated moves, Levi put the pen he held on his hand back to the inkwell, not taking his eyes off from her subordinate and then he turned to face her, fixing his blue eyes on the feminine shape next to him, looking at him with hope and innocence, making him fell very self-conscious

"This is inappropriate in so many ways. I'll pretend you didn't say anything"

"But I did, and I'm waiting for an answer!"

"Please, retire to your room private Ral. You've worked enough for today" his voice was dry and inexpressive, as if bittersweet stitched were on his throat

"Alright. I'll take it as a no" and without saying anything else, Petra stood up from her chair and walked towards the door, thinking that, despite not expecting too much from that situation, her heart had just been torn apart in many pieces.

Her steeps on the office were cold and slow, contrasting with the chair falling a couple meters away from her and she felt her entire world falling apart right before Levi took her arm and kissed her urgently.

Levi's hands were on Petra's face, keeping her close as if he was protecting her from the whole world and while he felt an unmatchable feeling in his lips, tasting for the first time the girl's fresh scent, so soft to his touch. And then, after some instants he separated from her and embraced her.

"I have a thousand reasons to think this is wrong and inappropriate, but I could think of millions of excuses to keep doing it and now I don't think I will be able to stop"

And then, Petra surrounded him with her arms, hugging him with all the intensity she was feeling, letting Levi know that, at least for now, nothing else mattered, as she felt happy to keep that precious memory: a kiss.
