Chapter 37: Questions About Love (written on June 29th, 2014)

As Stormfast was adding the official borders of his pack, Terra was left alone in the den. Hannah considered this as a great time to talk to her.

"Hi, mom."

"Hey, sweetie. How's it going?" said Terra.

"Actually, I have a couple of questions."

"Questions? What are they?"

"Well, what do you call that you get when you like someone a lot?"

"Oh... you're talking about love."

"What is love?" Hannah asked quietly.

"Love," her mother answered, "is an amazing thing. When you love someone, you are more than friends with him. It's what brought me and your dad together. As once an Omega, we classify love in two types: with your family or with someone who isn't in your family. Which one do you want to talk about?"

"Someone who isn't in your family."

"Okay. By the way, who gave you these questions?" Terra asked.

"Umm... Arthur was talking about it," she lied. It was her first lie.

"Hmm... okay, where was I? Oh, yes. Usually when you love someone outside your family, you get a strange and odd urge in your mind that tells you to do stuff you normally don't do. You also have a weird feeling in your stomach that's hard to describe. There's no other words to explain."

"Does age affect love?"

"Well, when it's your family, you can love them forever no matter what. When it's someone outside your family, it's best to start a relationship with someone your age and opposite gender. For example; for the first seven years after birth (Dog Years), you are not ready for a romantic relationship. You can be, however, friends with him or love him as a friend."

"How old am I?"

"You're only about three and half years old (which is less than one year in Human Years. Wolves at this stage are equivalent to preteens). So you're about halfway. But it's still a long way until you're allowed to find your "special someone," also known as your "true love." So you know that most pups are born in the spring, right?"

"Yeah."

"That's because spring is the mating season. It takes two mating seasons to start a family. One to find your mate and establish a den, another to have pups and take care of them tremendously for their first moons of life. It took me and your dad three mating seasons because we didn't want to have pups until seven years (Dog Years) after we created our pack."

"Whoa... How did you know all this?"

"I was an Omega. One of our main jobs is to give dating advice to Alphas that don't know because they are not trained strongly for it. Soon, I'll teach you and Arthur how to teach it when Omega School starts in the winter."

"How will I know who's my "true love?" said Hannah.

"Hmm... you have to love him and he has to love you. You have to understand the responsibilities you get when being with just as he does to you. If he has all of these things, then he most likely is your "true love." Your dad is one of those wolves who dedicates himself to taking share for caring for pups."

"You know, I'm glad we could talk about this."

"I am too," said Terra. Hannah then left the den satisfied. Stormfast came in after. "I thought you were scent marking the borders."

"I'm taking a break," he moaned. "Were you just talking to Hannah?"

"Yeah. She had a question about us." She lied to playfully trick him.

"What was the question?"

"Do you love me as much as I love you?"

"What?!" he screamed. "Of course I do!" She laughed.

"I'm just kidding, honey. I know you love me." She licked his cheek. Stormfast smiled.

Hannah now knew she couldn't have a romantic relationship with Kris yet so she decided that when she was old enough, she will admit her love to Kris. But for now, they'll just be great friends.
