A/N: Once again I would like to apologize for the delay on this chapter. Writer's Block and school work make a tricky combination. Throw a head cold into the mix, and you've got how things have been for me. But anyway, enough rambling, on with the chapter! Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own the Elder Scrolls series. I only own my original ideas.

Chapter 37: Lom Riin Kran

Shouts-at-Sun's POV

The armies of the Empire continued to advance, with one my companions and I were with embarking again and crossing the seas to land near Shimmerene. We marched on the city, and soon began our assault. Once again, the strategy of sending in the dovah first to distract and scare our foes was effective, and allowed our main ground force to sweep in and capture the city. Once more, we focused on the government sector, swiftly deposing the Thalmor governor, and set about installing an interim government. With that done, I had a moment to look around at the city, a place of artfully construted buildings amongst ancient ruins. Falcon, Sunders-the-Heart, the Listener, and I ended up heading up a 'patrol' of the ruins and archeological sites around the city, but in reality we were mostly just looking around and letting ourselves have a moment of peace before the Legions of the Empire moved on towards Alinor. The relative silence of the ruins served as a stark contrast to the city and garrison, and as a reminder of what they were fighting to save. As we moved along, I saw that several of the sites were still being actively worked, while guarded by members of the Theives' Guild.

"Ah, Shimmerene," said Falcon, "It's been quite a while since I've had the chance to visit this area".

"It's quite the beautiful city" I said.

"That it is," said Falcon, "My family once had holdings in this area, helping fund the efforts to uncover the past".

"You've never mentioned your family much," said Sunders-the-Heart. "I don't want to pry but…"

"No, it's alright," said Falcon, "I was the one who brought it up. My family was among the higher ranking members of the Thalmor, but our opinions differed from the current leadership".

"In what ways?" I asked.

"While, yes we supported the idea of an independent Aldmeri Dominion," said Falcon, "we also supported the idea of reestablishing positive diplomatic and trade relations with the Empire".

"Sounds like a sensible idea," said Sunders-the-Heart, "what happened?"

"Well, those currently in power decided that their ideas were too dangerous to be allowed," said Falcon, "and as such they suffered a 'Tragic Accident'".

"In other words, they were assassinated," said the Listener.

"Precisely," said Falcon, "I was the only one of my family to get away, I was sent out of the Dominion to protect me, and allow our family to live on".

We continued along, and wandered through the ruins. Some of the structures seemed familiar, as they bore similarities to some of those seen in Skyrim… complete with the runes inscribed on the walls.

"I didn't realize the Dragon Cult had extended to Summerset Isles," I said.

"You mean these ruins?" said Falcon, "you're right, they look much like some of those in Skyrim".

"If this site was what it appears to be," I said, "do you know if there's a U-shaped wall, one covered in runes from top to bottom?"

"Actually, yes!" said Falcon, "I remember seeing what you describe not far from here. One of the archeologists seemed rather exited to find it".

"Show me," I said.

Falcon led us through the ruins, and soon we came upon our destination: a Word Wall. I quickly approached it, and looked it over.

"So, what's got you so interested in this?" asked Falcon.

"Let me explain," said Sunders-the-Heart, "what we have here is a Word Wall. It is an inscription created by the ancient Dragon Cult at their holy sites. They often contain useful knowledge to those of… particular skills".

"You mean," said Falcon, "this will be interesting".

I examined the Word Wall more closely, read what it said.

"Het mah Undilar faal Meyus, wo vogahvon Herma-Mora, ahrk to okmaar stin do faal Kran do Dez," I read, "Here fell Undilar the Foolish, who defied Herma-Mora, and though himself free of the Tides of Fate".

The knowledge flowed into me, as I gained a new Word of Power.

"Kran, Tide, Tsunami," I said, "Ah, I hoped I'd find this one".

"Nice trick," said Falcon, "Well, we better be getting back. We don't want the Leigionarres to think we're in trouble".

We started back towards town, now ready to head to our next goal.

Alinor

Arranelya surveyed the lands below from the top of the Crystal Tower, thinking on what her agents had reported recently. Reports from Skywatch were troubling: it seems the Empire had launched a surprise attack, and captured the city. Worse, it seems that they had the Dragons under their command. The agents who escaped the city reported the forces were being led by an Argonian of all things! From reports from both the south and north, it seems this attack was coordinated to come from all sides, forcing them into a corner. Given this, it only made sense that the increase in piracy in the Abecean Sea was connected as well.

In the vein of better news, progress was continuing to unlock the full potential of the Eye of Magnus. It had required a fair bit of effort of the part of the Dominion's best artificers to get to this stage, but every day they were drawing closer to their true goal. Arranelya glanced back at the Eye, its metallic places quietly shifting and spinning. Yes, soon it would be time, and they would be free of this worthless world… all of them.

A/N: And there we go! Next time, the adventure continues! See you then!
