A/N Hey everyone! I promise that they will get moving again soon. Enjoy! Don't forget to leave me some love! 3

The days roll by into weeks, and between snowfalls they try to keep the jeep ready for an emergency escape, managing to pack down a path from the porch to the car, keeping half their supply in there incase they have to time to pack, food, clothes, back up weapons. The cnow has kept walkers away, but there are still the survivors to contend with, they're not worries that the group from Boston is going to follow them, but there are others like them, who want to take what they have.

The snow has transformed the world, the clean blanket of white masking the ugly reality, like it always does. Making everything seem peaceful, at least for a little while.

Daryl continues to teach her how to hunt, and the basics of tracking, helping build up a small stockpile of food and perfecting the smoking and drying process. Sam raids the limited bookshelves for anything new she can learn. A few old books about farming and trapping.

"Here, found one for you." Sam smiles and hands Daryl one of the farming books.

"Do I look like farmer Joe to you?" he asks, staring at her.

"Oh, I don't know. I think I saw a straw hat in one of the closets that would do the trick. Maybe find a pair of overalls." she tries to stay serious, but the imagery makes her crack up.

Daryl smiles and tosses the book aside, "Hand me that trapping one though, might be able to get some good stuff from that one."

She gives him the book and goes back to searching the shelves.

"How long til we have to meet up with the group again?" she turns and looks at him.

"Three months or so til the first meeting place, why?"

"I just don't want to end up missing them."

"We won't, even if we miss the first place, there's a bunch more to go to, member? Quit chure worryin. We ain't goin nowhere with all this snow anyhow, so just relax."

"I know." she sighs "It's just that the list of people I know anymore is so short. And if we can't find them again, I don't think I would want to bother finding a new group. I just hate that eventually everyone leaves."

"That's always been life." he points out "People just end up leaving faster now, and there's not as much time to put up with bullshit anymore."

She just stares at him.

"C'mere." he rubs her arms when she walks over "I ain't goin nywhere long as I can help it. An we'll get back to them no problem, aight?"

"Ok, fine." she smiles "But try telling that to my overactive brain."

"Let's see if we can't shut that brain up for a little while, huh?" he smiles and kisses her.

"You think we're getting too comfortable here?" Sam asks from the kitchen, making dinner.

"Nah, not really. I think if we didn't get a chance to relax every once in a while we'd probably go crazy. It's not like we're really letting out guard down anyway. There just ain't no way any walkers are gonna get anywhere fast til some of this snow is gone. Hell, we have a hard time an we're a hellov a lot smarter than them."

"I wonder what everything is like back down in Georgia. It's bugging me, not being able to hear anything from them." Sam accidentally slams the pan down.

"I know. I know. Trust me. We can head back out as soon as some of this snow is gone. But they're all fine. Rick is a good leader, and they're all good people, will look out for each other. Promise." he moves her away from the stove and takes over for her "I'll bet they're all fine. We usually get a decent amount of snow down there. Not like this crazy mess up here, but enough to slow down the walkers, give them a chance to get somewhere safe."

She watches from the kitchen chair as he quickly finishes making the food and hands her a plate.

By the time Sam wakes in the morning, the sun is already risen and Daryl's side of the bed is cold. She quickly pulls on her jeans, boots and a heavy sweater and goes to find Daryl. She finds him at the kitchen stove, coaxing the embers from the night before back into a blaze.

"It's so late, why didn't you wake me up?" she asks.

"Can't worry if yer asleep." he gives her a quick half smile "Figured ya could use some of that."

"Oh come on." she protests "I don't worry that much."

He cocks his head and looks at her " 'S all you been doin the last few days. You think I can't tell when you worry?"

She smiles and shrugs "I didn't think I was being so obvious."

"Ya gottta find something to do that'll keep you distracted, stop you from worryin so much." he says, standing.

"I've been trying. That's why for the last few days I've been going through every book I can find, try and find something new."

"Could always go out huntin again, let you lead it this time. That'll help you stay focused." he suggests.

"It's the middle of the morning. Won't everything be far away from us?"

"Eh, so you shoot a coupla stupid squirrels stead of a deer. Might still help." he shrugs "You up for it?"

"Yeah." she says "Just let me layer up a little more first."

Daryl grabs his gear and leans against the door, waiting for Sam. Honestly, it'll be nice to have a distraction. Not as worried as Sam is, the thoughts still gnaw at him, how well will that group be able to fare without him bringing in fresh game for them? Rick was a great leader, but none of them know how to hunt, Hershel knows how to farm, but on the run, in the dead of winter, that won't help anyone. Sam walks out of the room, all wrapped up in her down coat. He pushes off the door.

"Ready?" he asks.

"Yeah, let's go."

They tromp off into the woods, trying to walk quietly in the deep snow. After a short while, Sam decided to just wade through the knee deep snow instead of try and lift her feet above the snow every time. They cut a path deep into the woods before deciding to stop there. Daryl tries to keep his laughs to himself when he sees the massive trail she left, not sure if letting her lead was the right decision of they actually want to get something. But he follows her to the makeshift tree blind they set up a few weeks ago, helps her up into it and climbs up next to her. He fixes his gaze in the distance, ready to stay up there with her as long as she still needs the distraction.
