Romak 1997: Cliffhangers are the best in some ways :D but not always XD haha, Asuka in some weird drug is another different story. Also, you don't get your cookie because well, you'll know it when you read it :P

DaMastah101: Well Jin/Devil Jin conflict always is a core device in his character ;) and don't underestimate Lee and Anna's creation, it's cooler and better than you think! and your guess about robot voice was a good one, but still not correct...well, you'll know it here :)
35) Lost, gains and Apologies
Asuka can see the center post below the transparent glass ceiling of the treasury. The treasury's treasure are all hidden underground, and the post that Asuka is staring at is where the entrance to the underground is.
The Treasury is made up of sand colored bricks, with vines growing everywhere. The scent in the place smelled like the jungle ashore the ocean.
Asuka moved closer to the center post, she can now see the door in its center. She stomps her feet at the ceiling, it was thick and strong, it didn't sound like glass, rather, it sounded like hard plastic.
She had double thoughts about breaking the ceiling, so she looked for another way to get down. She walked close to the right end, near the place where Lars is hiding from her.
But Lars wasn't going to get discovered, he had seen this coming. Asuka was still at a big distance from Lar's location when she noticed a circular hole at the ceiling. She bent down and looked below. There was nothing wrong with the hole and she didn't have time to be suspicious about why the hole exists there.
She stands up and jumps down the hole. Her blue boots hit solid on the ground, creating a big mist of fog. She fan her hands, trying to get the fog away. She walked slowly and cautious, most of her sight was still distracted by the fog.
By the time that she reached the door at the center post, the fog had left her. The door was tall and lean, made of silver and white steel, illuminating like a marble. There wasn't any lock on the door, there was only a card slider at its very center.
For a big company like the Mishima Zaibatsu, it was easy to get a copy of the card that they needed to open this door. One blackmail was all it took for the half black and half gray hard coated card to be in Jin's hands, and now on Asuka's.
She lifts her hand up, raising the card to the slider. Half of the card was inside now and the door was slighty lighting up in the corners, indicating that it was accepting the card code. A high pressured cold wind comes out as the door unlocks, swinging wide open in front of Asuka.
"Well, that was easy" Asuka said, looking around the area. It's weird, she told herself. It was weird how easy this mission is. For a place that held so many valuables, you would expect it to be highly guarded and full of traps, but this was even easier to enter than a museum.
Asuka shrugged it off, of course she liked how this would go easier than she expected. She moved to the center of the door, feeling the cold wind inside of it, seeing the white walls and the glossy blue tile floors. She was about to enter the treasure chest, her one foot was already stepped inside.
But suddenly, a fast gunshot fires, it hits the floor, so close to Asuka's right foot that she felt the heat of it's landing.
"Stop right there" the deep, robotic voice yells out.
Asuka turns around, she see's the five men, and she knows exactly who shot her. Among the five men, only one of them had a gun, and a full house of ammo. The tallest one of the five was at the center, his gun is still held up, he's head is still tilted down to the front sight of the handgun.
"You guys are too late" Asuka turns back around, she tries to track inside the door but she didn't reach it. Three more gunshots hit the card slider before she could even put all her body inside, the door malfunctions and closes alone. Asuka had no other choice but to step away, or else be squashed alive.
"Surrender now" The robotic voice yells again.
Asuka bit her lower lip, she wasn't in the mood to be patient. She took her chances and run directly to the center man, but the other four held her back at different parts of her body.
Her temper rises, her arms start to swing off the men one by one. Over and over, the four would come back to rise and try to attack her. Asuka would kick them and punch them in her signature styles, flying them, blowing them away. But they were tough, they always stood up after every attack, and they were tougher enough to even attack back at Asuka.
Asuka watches the man in the center, doing nothing but to look at how she could bypass the four. This sends more anger at Asuka, she takes the head of one of the four, she's tired of just punching, so she lifts her knee and hits the man's helmet to it. The impact was clearly strong, the man's helmet broke in two, revealing his face. He was bleeding in the nose from the pressure of being squished by his broken helmet. Asuka gives him a swift sidekick in the face, blood covers the ground he lands stops moving as soon as both his feet lays flat on the ground.
That was one down, now three to go.
Asuka was attacked at the same time by the other two men, they were good at strangling their opponents but Asuka wasn't easy to strangle. She wormed nonstop and kept dragging the two with her as she moved closer to the center man.
She grabs on the arms of the two men that were wrapped below her armpits, she clutches tight on the men's biceps. Now the three of them were fighting over who was a tighter compressor. The veins in the biceps of the men were growing out of their tight black uniform making Asuka know that she was winning.
She presses harder on the muscles of the two guys who both scream in pain when she twist their arms along with a big bone crushing press. The sound of tendons ripping was as loud as the men's hold on Asuka flunks down without another fight, they tried to feel their arms that were damaged, but they couldn't even make it move from intense pain. They fell down to the floor, shaking.
Asuka jumps above them and comes face to face with the person at the middle. She wanted to say something but her attention is caught by the strange scent around him. There was a distinguishable odor that Asuka couldn't place her tongue on. She recognized it but she couldn't decipher what it is, for the smell was also covered in the smell of metal and copper, wrapped all around the helmet figures body.
"This is your last chance, surrender now" The figure covered in ammo told her
Asuka ignores what he said, she had no intention to listen at all. Her hands had molded into a fist now, and she launched it up, aiming for the helmet in front of her. She was expecting to surprise him, but she was the one who got surprised.
Her punch missed and hit the air, the person had ducked down and punch her first in the stomach before her fist could even reach him. She bent down by the pressure of the punch on her abdomen, the helmet figure just watched her, doing nothing. Asuka tried to endure the pain, she moved her feet and tried to kick the person in the thighs but he jumped up and landed behind her, Asuka got mad, she turned around and planned to kick him sideways but he moved the other way, as if knowing exactly where that kick would land.
"Damn it!" Asuka yelled out, she attacked again, this time using a fast uppercut, but the person catches it in his hand and twisted Asuka along with it. She ended up rolling to the ground, and now both her hand and stomach ached, but she still wasn't going to give up.
She stood up fast like there was no pain in her at all. She launched herself, ready to toss that person with a mighty open double hand punch, but he slides down, crossing between Asuka's legs and tripping her back to lie on the floor. The person stood up, his single standing man came to him.
"We can just shoot her now" the man tells his acting leader.
"No, she still has game" He tells him. "Stand back, she's coming again"
The man ran away from the two, and he saw from a distance how Asuka came back to attacking his boss multiple times, in defeat.
Asuka tried kicking up, down, left, right, and even turning, but it's like the person always knew what she was planning to do. He'd get to dodge her first before she can complete her attack, and in the end, she always ends up falling back to the back was the most painful now, but she continued to try to punch him if he can dodge her kicks, but he was faster with the punches. Asuka backs away after seeing that nothing she does was going to work in beating up this guy. Even a combination of combo's wasn't enough to keep him distracted, he knew her every move. Just an inch of a lift on her feet and he would know he was going to be attacked upwards and as soon as she slighty turns around, he knows that he's going to get kicked in the thighs. He could even copy the attack she just did and use it against her. It was like fighting herself, and she was losing to an impostor.
"Unless you bring me down, this fight isn't gonna end. You can't dodge my attacks forever." Asuka rubs her face filled with sweat, she was so tired now and her whole body was starting to feel sour.
The helmet figure laughs, even his laugh was robotic. "You truly are a crazyhead!" He attacks first this time. He takes Asuka's hand and head at the same time, and reels her down to her knees on the floor. She puts Asuka's head to a bow, not letting her raise it at all.
"And it didn't have to end up like this if you just surrendered from the start" The helmet figure dugs his gloved hands on Asuka's hair.
"Like hell I'd give up!" Asuka wiggled her head, she was curious what he was scrambling on her hair. A small circular gadget drops to the floor right below Asuka's head. She stares at it, seeing it blink in a red light.
The helmet figure kicks it off her sight making it slide meters away from them.
Miles away from that very place, the source of that little gadget watched the moment happen in horror.
"He knows we're watching" Nina says aloud, looking at Jin who was sitting with his head resting above his hands.
"That must be Lars" Jin comments.
He and Nina look at how Asuka is trying to escape the grasp of the helmet figure, she was vehemently moving, but soon her hands were clasped in a magnetic chain by her captor.
Asuka can't move now, the magnetic field running in her body was making her bones hard to move. She couldn't see what the person was doing behind her but she could hear the sound of an ammo being inserted in a gun. She was right, within seconds the hole of the long mouthed Black Hand gun was aimed at her head. The trigger was still up, the person's finger was waiting to push it down.
Lili, did you know it from the start? Did you already know that I was soon going to meet you there? Is that why you told me you'd be there when I wake up again?
Asuka hears the clicking of the trigger, the hole pressed on her head was beginning to feel hot. She closed her eyes, and heard the loud shot of the gun before her face fell down to the floor. She saw blood streaming down her eyes, wetting the floor where her head rested. She looked at the little gadget far from her, wondering if Jin could see everything, if he was going to save her.
Her breathing started to run out, she felt like choking in the chest, and by the next minute, she felt her eyes become so heavy. She fights the urge to close them, but only one of her eye remained opened. She started to loose sensation, she can't analyze where the helmet figure was, and her sight was becoming double and blurry. The aches in her body have gone, and now all she could feel was numbness.
Her sight was starting to get dark, her eyes are unconsciously closing now. She can hardly hear anything anymore, and all that run into her mine was that she was dying now.
Lili, when you told me you'd be there when I wake up in bed again, were you actually talking about my death-bed?
Asuka's eyes both closed and her whole body had stopped moving in the floor.
Jin stares at his screen, eyes all opened.
"I don't think that's Lars, he wouldn't kill her." Nina turned off the screen, seeing how Jin has become flabbergasted in front of it.
No….not another one! Jin screamed inside of him. He slammed his hands on the desk in front of him, he was silent in the outside.
A banging came into the door of the room they were in. Nina orders the door to be opened, immediately three of Jin's men came in, all armed and black.
"We have a report on our captives in the Fuchu Prison." One man from the three spoke up.
Jin's attention changed quickly. "What is it!" He yells out.
"The prisoner's are gone" The man said in a sad tone.
Nina looks confused. "How did they escape?"
The three men shake their heads together. "They didn't escape, they died in the prison, from hunger."
Jin fell on his butt to the floor, he scratched his head. "No" he said in a tone that was badly convincing himself.
"Are you sure about this news?" Nina asked the three.
"Yes, Ma'am, they're corpses are being taken at this very moment"
"NO!" Jin shouts out, he stands up and punches the three men that was blocking the door. They hit the floors with their mouths bleeding at the side.
"Jin!" Nina calls out to him as he runs quickly out of the building.
"It can't be!" He stumbles many times because of how weak his knees has become. His heart was beating nervously. It took him thirty or maybe forty minutes to get to the prison from his HQ in Tokyo, and he didn't care about his change in the taxi anymore.
When he saw two ambulances parked at the gate of the prison, he felt like killing himself right there. He walked slowly to one of the vehicles and he saw the nurses setting up the white blankets above the body of a girl.
He stands in front of the back of the ambulance, staring at the body. The nurses notice him and asks him if he knows the person. He doesn't answer, and the nurses look a one another, they nod their heads and come down from the car.
"Go on, it's ok" One of the female nurse encourages Jin. He started to climb the ambulance, he was slipping and the nurses had to help him lift his body correctly. When he got up inside the car, he was holding on the rail of the stretcher.
He pulled down the blanket that was covering the girl's face. The nurses heard him sob as he stared at the face of the girl lying dead on the stretcher.
One of the male nurses climb up the ambulance and covers Xiayou's face with the blanket again.
"It's going to be alright" The nurse tells him, tapping him lightly in the shoulder.
"No, it's all my fault! Everything's my fault!" Jin pushes the nurse away, he takes Xiayou's limp body on his arms and embraces her. He supported her stiff body with his hands on her back and neck, and cried at the fabrics between their faces.
"Xiao, I'm so sorry, I love you, I really love you"
The nurses at the place bowed down their heads, and remained quiet, they let him mourn for the love he had lost without confessing.
People often wonder what happens as soon as you die. Some believe that you wake up in the afterlife, and some say that you just suddenly become a soul without the need of waking up. But normally, waking up happens to those who are alive.
Asuka wakes up, feeling so heavy in the head. She see's the person in a big helmet, standing at the footboard of the bed.
"What are you doing there?" Asuka asks the person. She scratches her head, expecting a big bandage somewhere.
"I didn't shoot you. It was only a trick" the person tells her, again, its like he knows her every move.
Asuka lays down in relief, she thought about why he had to do an awful trick like that, but she can't deny the fact that she's happy she's alive. She still can't see her Lili, but she knows she needs to live to continue something her girlfriend couldn't. She clears her mind and remembers that the person was still looking at her from the footboard.
"So am I your enemy or what?" Asuka asked, curious about the person's intention on her. He didn't kill her and it looks like he was actrually looking after her inside the room. A part in Asuka told her that this person wasn't a bad guy.
"You were before" The robotic voice answered her with a small laugh at the end.
"You know, for a man you're a real coward. You either only dodged my attacks or copy them." Asuka said without looking at the person, she was busy trying to feel if the ache's of her body were still persisting.
The helmet figure laughed harder. He took Asuka's attention in one question. "Who even told you I'm a man?"
Asuka stopped stretching her body in the bed, she stared at the helmet figure.
"My body must have looked baggy because of these ammo's and this voice changer really makes me sound like a robot." The helmet figure clicks on the mouthpiece at the front of the head covering. The lights of the helmet shut down. Now the voice continued to talk, but it sounded human, and soft, it sounded like a girl's voice.
Asuka's eyes bulged, she recognized that voice however faint it was under the big helmet. The now confirmed girl under the big helmet, took away all the straps of ammo chained on her whole body. Asuka starts to stare at the body standing in front of her, it was lean and tall, the curves were magnificent and the humps in the chest are clear indicators that this person is a woman.
And not just any woman. The girl took off her helmet, her hair slides down in locks of blonde, some strands covered her face, so she lifted her right hand and whipped them to the back.
"Now tell me Asuka, you were asking me awhile ago about what I was doing here. Didn't I tell you I'd be there with you the next time that you wake up in bed?"
Asuka's head felt dizzy, she covered her eyes with her palms. Her head moved left to right. "You must be joking me right?" Asuka started to sob on her palms. She couldn't take this surreal moment anymore.
She was sure she isn't dreaming because she had been biting her tongue since the person's voice started sounding like Lili's. She also realized that the familiar scent she'd been smelling from this person was Lili's. Her sight was still in the dark, and her ears were filled with self echoes of trying to escape this surreal moment. She hadn't realized the figure that had sat in front of her, and slowly reached to hug her. Without her noticing, she had been taken into a tight embrace.
"Asuka" The voice called her name, feelings of longing reverberated in Asuka's ears. She took away her wet - teared palms and encircled her arm around the waist of the person she missed the most to hold.
"Lili!" She yelled with cross hatched feelings of glee and overwhelms. "Lili, Lili, Lili" She shaked both their bodies with the intensity of her embrace and her need to embrace even familiar touch, this familiar warmth in her chest, Asuka is sure now that this is her Lili.
"Really, didn't you recognize it when I called you crazyhead? I like calling you that don't I?"
Asuka stops crying and suddenly all rationality hits her. She pushes Lili away and starts to become furious.
"I hate you" She tells Lili.
"Yes, I understand that" Lili looked away before continuing to talk. "But I only did everything I did because I wanted to protect you Asuka."
Asuka's chest cringed. "I know, I heard it from a recording that Jin made me hear. I felt so guilty of myself Lili, I thought I killed you."
Lili looked back at Asuka, she placed her hands, firm around Asuka's neck.
"No Asuka, if I did die there, it would never be your fault. It would be Jin's, everything is his fault."
"He scammed us?" Asuka asked, not looking surprised. She had doubted him and this only proves her suspicions.
"Yes, all of us Asuka"
Asuka took Lili's hands and slid them down off her neck. "You scammed us too Lili. You were alive all this time, and you made us, ME, believe that you were dead."
"Because I had to stick with the plan Asuka, I didn't just live because I did something of a miracle in that fire exit, I lived because they saved me and I had to go with their plans"
"Who saved you? What plans are you talking about?"
The loudness of Asuka's yell had alarmed the people who have been quietely standing outside. The blue door of the room opens, with Lars, Lee and Anna standing together outside.
"Asuka, calm down, we can explain everything to you." Lars comes close to the bed where the two girls were sitting on.
"And you, you just disappeared without a sight Lars!" Asuka pointed her finer at the spiky heared blonde. "You think I'd be happy to see you just because you saved my girlfriend. No! Lars, how could you hide something as important as that?"
"Woah, woah, calm down there" Anna came between Asuka and Lars.
"Why are you here?" Asuka asks the bob hair.
"Oh, it was mine and Lee's courtesy to help your girlfriend learn the gun and get her costumes ready my dear." Anna answered Asuka with a snickering laugh at the end, somehow obviously wanting to infuriate her more.
Lili can feel the atmosphere becoming toxic, Asuka was starting to lose patience. She would not calm down unless she gets her answers and with all of them trying to speak in one room, the whole story is not just going to come out right.
"Ok, stop it. Lars, Anna, Lee just leave the room. I can tell her everything."
The three people nod their head and comes back out of the room. The door locks and Asuka begins to move and stand uo from her bed.
"Wait, Asuka" Lili stops her, holding her in the wrist.
"No, Lili, explaining is never going to be enough! Do you know how many people got hurt because of your selfish plans? Do you even know how hard your father cried for you? How down Xiayou and Hwoarang were? How close I got in contact with craziness because of mixed guilt and despair?"
"We just need to continue this plan and we'll win the whole war, Asuka."
"Plans! Plans! Plans! I lost you because of all that planning and fighting, can't we just stop already? Haven't you had enough of facing death Lili?"
"Asuka, even if we did stop fighting, even if we hid at the farthest of the mountains, he'd look for us, we'd never live silently until we stop him."
Asuka stared at Lili, she stopped talking but her expression was evidently bitter. She squeezed both her hands and bit her lip. She set her eyes straightly looking at Lili's.
"I will never forgive you if you leave me again, I promise you, if you actually die on me, I will personally revive and rekill you. I don't care how well this plans of yours are working but it sucks when it involves making people believe that you're dead."
Lili pulls Asuka into an embrace. "Yeah, It does suck"
"You're not off the hook yet you know, you have a lot of explaining to do Lili"
"I know, but just let me stay like this for a little longer." Asuka sighed but she was extremely exultant to let Lili just embrace her. She missed her so much and it melts her heart to have her back like this.
"Lars, Alisa…Lee, and Anna?" Xiayou stared at the two unbexpected new company.
"I'm glad all of you got out safe" Lars greeted the four new arrivals in the new secret lair.
The lair was just at the outskirts of Tokyo, camouflaged in a little forest. It looks like a worn-out factory storage at the outside, with rusting galvanized iron roofs and cracking paint in the walls.
Julia lead the way to come there, as Xiayou walked side by side with her and Hwoarang followed them from behind, supporting Steve in the arm because he was still feeling dizzy.
Hwoarang and Xiayou studied the new lair. Inside of it, the walls were gray and the floor was white. The ceiling was very high and large blue pipes were exposed throughout it. The windows were covered by black felt papers and other than their voices, the sound of computer engines were the only noise inside the building.
"Do you have a chair here somewhere?" Hwoarang asked. He had the feeling that Steve really need to lie down.
"I'll take him to one of the rooms" Lars volunteered. Hwoarang didn't mind, he happily passed Steve to him. "Alisa, can you show them to the dining area, they're waiting for them there."
"It'd be my pleasure" Alisa answered.
"Who's waiting for us?" Xiayou asked the android. Alisa smiled at her, she didn't want to ruin the surprise.
"Just foloow me first" Alisa turned to the left and walked forward. Julia was the first to follow without a question, Xiayou and Hwoarang stared at each other first. They were quietly guessing it was Asuka, they were confident that if Lars got them out, then only Asuka's left for him to get.
The dining area was an open space at the mezzanine level of the building, you can see the whole first floor if you stand at the end. There were three tables, each with four chairs, scattered at the rear east, south and west of the mezzanine level. When Xiayou and Hwoarang reached the end of the stairs, Julia and Alisa were already standing at the door that led to the kitchen, which had a separate enclosed room at the front east of the mezzanine level.
They're attention was first taken by the smell of nice food inside the kitchen, but they remembered that someone was waiting for them, so they changed their sights and looked around. All tables were empty and they thought that maybe the person had left but soon they realized that two silhouttes stood at the end of the floor. The lights at that part were in dim blue, so the figures of the shadow only appeared in whole black to their sight.
"Hwoarang, Xiayou, come here and get something to eat" Julia popped her head out of the kitchen door. She noticed that the two of them were looking at something ahead so she also looked that way. "Oh, so they were there"
Julia went out of the kitchen, she was carrying a cup of juice. "Let's go greet them" Julia said, coming between Xiayou and Hwoarang and pushing them together at the back.
She continued to walk while supporting the two and the closer they got, the more the shadows formed more clearly and the colors started to come in.
The two people were looking down, their hands were resting on the railings. One of them was shorter, wearing a jumper looking blue suit. The other one was taller, wearing black and belts of ammo with a helmet on the head.
"Asuka" Xiayou shouted, knowing the blue outfit anywhere.
The silent chat that the two people had was disturbed. Asuka turned her head and saw her two friends.
"Xiayou! Hwoarang!" She wanted to run to them but she had a hard time doing so. Lili, who was purposely in disguise to surprise the other two catched Asuka before she fell from trying to run in a whim.
"Easy there" She said, but her voice sounded robotic again. She helped Asuka regain balance in the body by holding her in the waist and putting Asuka's one arm on the railing.
"Asuka, are you alright?" Xiayou and Hwoaranf asked together, they looked worried about her.
"Don't worry about me, I was just beat up. Are you two alright? Were where you this whole time?"
"We were in jail Asuka" Xiayou answered with a weak tone.
"Who beat you up?" Hwoarang asked, more concerned about that.
Asuka didn't answer him directly, she only raised her index at Lili's direction.
Hwoarang and Xiayou had the looks of wanting to beat up that helmet figure right there.
"Then why are you letting him hold you like that? Lili would kill that guy if she was here" Hwoarang shouted out, pointing his hand at the helmet figure.
Asuka's eyebrows bended down, she didn't know if she was going to laugh at that moment. Although, one person did laugh. Besides Asuka, Julia knows that the helmet figure was Lili, and she wasn't informed of the plan to keep that information as a secret.
"Yeah, she can just beat herself up, right Lili?"
Lili and Asuka looked at Julia like two bullies in school. "Julia" Lili said in dismay.
Hwoarang and Xiayou went to a rage of confusion. What was happening? Why is she calling that helmet head Lili? Why isn't Asuka reacting?
"Hey, what are you two talking about?" Hwoarang broke Lili and Julia's very ambiguous conversation.
The helmet head shifted her head to Hwoarang, then to Xiayou, then lastly to Asuka. The ebony head gave her a nod, a sign that there's no use to hiding it now. Lili sighed before turning off the controls in her helmet. The voice changer turned off, then the lock was opened and the helmet was free to remove now.
"Well, you certainly ruined the thrill Julia" Lili said after she took off her helmet. Her two friends was shortly speechless. "I'm sorry for tricking you guys, Xiayou, Hwoarang, nice to see the two of you again" She smiled at them, wide and happy -which was probably a bad thing to do.
Xiayou covered her mouth and Hwoarang swallowed a big lump on his throat. They both can' believe it.
Lili looked at Asuka. "I expected that" Asuka told her.
Lili looked worried, she tries to go closer to two of her friends but they slightly back away. "I can explain the reason for all of this. I know the two of you are mad at me too, but I –
Lili didn't get to finish her words anymore, Xiayou jumped to hugging her. "No, no I'm not mad Lili. I'm so happy you're not dead!"
Lili giggled, she embraces Xiayou back, and then she looks at Hwoarang.
The auburn head gave her a warm expression. "This is the first time I actually want to believe in miracles" He told her before breaking into a hoarse laugh. "That was the worst prank ever Lili"
"It was overboard" Lili said with a laugh at the end. Hwoarang smiled at her, he still wasn't moving close to her.
"Come on now Hworang" Xiayou called him. Hwoarang looked up at the celing before taking the invitation of running to Lili and embracing her like Xiayou the while, Asuka and Julia only watched at the sides, smilling with them.
A certain amount of time passes by.
Lars calls for everyone at the conference room at the ground floor of the building.
Asuka, Xiayou and Hwoarang sat at three chairs prepared at the very front of the conference hall. A projector was set in front of them but nothing was playing yet.
Lars, Alisa, Lee, Anna, Steve, Julia and Lili were all standing behind them in order from left to right.
