Testing, testing, I'm just suggesting,
You and I might not be the best thing,
Exit, exit, somehow I guessed it right, right,
But I still want you, want you,
Don't mean to taunt you, If you leave now,
I'll come back and haunt you,
You'll remember, return to sender now, now

Well I just wish we could go back one more time and begin it,
Back before I lost myself somewhere, somewhere in it.

I've been stuck now so long,
We just got the start wrong,
One more last try,
I'ma get the ending right,
You can't stop this, and I must insist,
That you haven't had enough,
You haven't had enough,

Kenzie stared at herself in the mirror, turning her head every which way, trying to spot a difference in herself. Not being able to spot one, she sighed and pushed herself away from the counter, exiting the bathroom just as the door opened and Katherine walked in with a guy.

The guy was clearly compelled, his dark blue eyes gazing off into the distance as his black hair fell over his face.

"I brought you a present." Katherine announced, pushing him further into the room.

"I don't want it." Kenzie replied, knowing what Katherine was trying to do.

"But doesn't he remind you of him? He has to, I picked him out just for that." Katherine stepped over to the guy, trailing a hand along his chest and around his shoulder as she stopped behind him. "Don't you just want to get back at him for what he did?"

"No." Kenzie replied.

"Then, aren't you hungry?" Katherine asked, grabbing the guys arm and biting into his wrist.

"Very." The redhead replied, not even reacting to the smell of the blood. "But I have something in the fridge, thanks. You need to let him go or at least take him out of here."

"Ugh, c'mon Red, just take a bite out of him, it won't kill you."

"Not me but possibly him and I don't want to kill him. What has he done wrong besides look vaguely like Damon?"

"Nothing but that's the point, we're Vampires, this is what we do, this is how we live. So why not just let loose and enjoy it? Turn it off."

"No." Kenzie facilely replied.

Katherine let out a frustrated noise as she dragged the guy towards Kenzie, shoving his wrist in front of her face. "Look, Kid, I've been patient, I've taught you everything I know but we can't do much more if you just won't turn it off. Flip the switch, let your humanity go."

Kenzie grabbed the arm away from Katherine, dropping it and pushing the older vamp across the room. She grabbed the guy's head, forcing him to look at her. "Leave, run, forget this ever happened."

The guy quickly left and before the door was even closed, Katherine had rushed Kenzie spearing her into the hotel room table before she grabbed a piece of the broken wood and held it over the new vampire's heart.

"I'll do it." Katherine snarled.

"Then do it." Kenzie retorted.

Katherine stared at her a moment longer before dropping the wood and standing up, pulling Kenzie with her.

"Damon, your supposed one true love is back in Mystic Falls, falling all over Elena and I'm sure doing whatever the hell she wants him to do. Doesn't that piss you off Kid? Don't you just want to go and kill her? She stole your boyfriend."

But Kenzie still seemed uninterested. "No, I don't want to."

"Well, what if Damon had a horrible accident?" Katherine pushed.

Kenzie let out an inelegant snort. "I'm sure he can hold his own, I'm not worried."

"So it won't kill a part of you if something happened to him?"

"Oh, I'm sure it will." Kenzie replied. "And if anything does happen, I'll rip out the spines through the chest of whoever did it."

"But you'd be heartbroken, probably enough to switch that flip." Katherine mused.

"That wouldn't do it."

Katherine let out a noise of frustration before trying a different tactic. "Fine, your dad then."

"What about him?"

"He's your last tie to your humanity, with him gone, why hold on to it?"

This finally spurred Kenzie into action as she turned and grabbed Katherine, pushing her up against the nearest wall, hard.

"Listen to me." She snarled. "That switch you want me to flip so badly is not there. It doesn't exist in me, I don't feel it, so I can't flip it. So stop trying to find weaknesses that will make me turn off my humanity. It's impossible, trust me, I've tried. You'll only result in pissing me off greatly if you do anything to anyone I love in hopes that I turn it off. I don't care how much older and stronger you are, I will find a way to end you, painfully, and even with my humanity intact, I wouldn't even feel bad."

In the blink of an eye, the tables were turned and Katherine had Kenzie up against the wall. The two stared at each other before Katherine began to chuckle as she pulled away.

"You really are a little spitfire." She observed. "You hang out with me for the rest of the summer and I won't kill anyone you supposedly care about."

Kenzie rolled her eyes. "My month is up tomorrow."

"I'm not going to kill you." Katherine said.

"You promised."

"That was before I realized how much fun you were and how much fun we can still have. Come on Red, isn't there anywhere you wanted to go? We can go there."

"Disney World." The redhead replied without a second thought. She smiled at Katherine's confused look. "I like amusement rides, so why not go there when I can compel my way to the front."

The brunette Vampire rolled her eyes. "Baby steps I guess. Today, Disney World rides, tomorrow, well we can work on bigger things. You serious about not feeling that switch inside you?"

"Yes, I'm serious." Kenzie replied. "Truthfully, I have no qualms about drinking from someone if I can compel them to forget. I just don't want to turn into a Ripper."

Katherine grinned. "That's what has your panties in a bunch? You can't even turn your humanity off, you're not going to be a Ripper. Come on, we'll go practice."

"No killing anyone."

An eye roll from the older vamp. "Girl Scout's honor."

"Oh please, you? A girl scout?"

"It could happen." Katherine replied even as Kenzie let out an inelegant snort.

… … …

Kenzie rolled her eyes as she looked at her call display before finally picking it up. "Look, I'm only answering because you've called like a million times. Who's dead?"

"No one, yet." Elena replied. "But look, I know I'm the last person you want to hear from but Damon needs help."

"Then go help him."

Elena sighed. "Kenzie, he needs help, from you. Please, I'm begging you. The whole thing with Stefan is killing him but not as much as the situation with you. He's constantly drunk and I'm worried. He needs you."

Kenzie frowned. "Why don't you-"

"Listen." Elena cut her off. "He doesn't need or want me, he wants you so please, stop being so stubborn and just check up on him, he's at the Grill."

Kenzie sighed, pulling a blood bag out of the fridge before going back upstairs. "Fine, I'll go. But the minute he starts calling your name, I'm done, for real."

She didn't wait for Elena's reply before hanging up the phone and finishing up the blood before yelling to her Dad she was going out and walking towards the Grill. When she arrived, Damon was playing darts looking extremely drunk as he talked to Elena. She could hear Elena commenting on his being day drunk and not looking very attractive. He stepped towards her just as Elena looked over and saw her, a look of relief blossoming on her face.

"Kenzie." She all but cried. "You haven't seen Jeremy lately, have you?"

She shook her head. "No, why."

"He was fired. He's spiraling."

"He's a teenager." Damon said with a snort. "What are you doing here, Red?"

"Checking up on my drunken ex boyfriend."

"Ex." He pulled a face. "I don't remember us breaking up."

She opened her mouth to say more but Elena grabbed her arm, a pleading look on her face. "Please, don't fight."

Kenzie sighed, swallowing any potential comments she could've said. "We'll talk about that later."

"Don't mind me."

The three turned to the new voice, both vampires letting out a small groan at seeing Klaus there.

"You gonna do this in the Grill?" Damon asked. "In front of everyone? It's a little beneath you, don't you think?"

"I don't know what you are talking about. I just came down to my local pub to grab a drink with a mate."

A good looking male appeared behind them and Kenzie could hear Elena's almost silent gasp as she stared at him, recognizing him from somewhere.

"Get a round in, would you Tony?" Klaus told him.

"I'm surprised you stuck around town long enough for happy hour." Damon sneered at him.

"My sister seems to be missing. Need to sort that out."

"Cute blonde bombshell, psycho. Shouldn't be too hard to find."

Klaus smiled before his eyes turned to Kenzie's. "truth is, I think Mackenzie knows exactly where she is. Wasn't it you that told me she was daggered?"

Elena and Damon turned to look at her even as she shrugged at him. "I said she was daggered. I never said I knew what they did with her after."

Damon grabbed her arm and yanked her back. "Why would you even tell him that?"

"Because I didn't want to die." She snapped at him.

"Truth is I've grown to rather like your little town. Think I might fancy a home here." Klaus told them. "Oh I imagine you're wondering how does this is affect you. The answer is: not in the slightest. Unless I get what I want and everyone behaves themselves you can go on living your little lives however you choose. You have my word."

"What more could you possibly want?" Elena asked him.

"Well for starters, you can tell me where I might find Stefan." Klaus looked at all of them before his eyes came to rest on Kenzie again.

"Stefan skipped town the second he saved your ass." Damon snapped.

"Oh but not before he saved Mackenzie's. Last I saw, he was pulling her out of the house and they were getting into a car."

Everyone turned to look at her now and she propped a fist on her waist. "Again, that doesn't mean I know anything. They dropped me off at Damon's and disappeared after that." She was lying, she knew exactly where Stefan was and what he was up to but that really wasn't anyone's business. She was happy with what he was doing and would gladly help if he needed it.

"Well you see that is a shame." Klaus turned to look at Damon. "Your brother stole from me, I need him found so I can take back what's mine."

"That sounds like a Klaus and Stefan problem." Elena told him, lifting her chin in defiance.

"Just shut up." Kenzie groaned, unable to believe that she was goading him.

Klaus turned to the little redhead, stepping closer to her. "Why do I have a feeling that you know everything I need to know."

Damon stepped in between them. "Back off."

He finally stepped back and smiled at all of them. "Find Stefan." He left the Grill and the remaining three exchanged a look.

"Do you know where Stefan is?" Damon asked her.

Kenzie shook her head. "No, I don't."

He grabbed her arm, his grip bruising as he stared down at her. "I swear to god Kenzie, if you have any idea, any at all..."

She ripped her arm away from him. "Fuck off Damon. You know how much I love threats."

He stepped towards her again and she stepped back, bumping into a table and putting her hands back to steady herself. She palmed a knife from the table and when he grabbed her again, she moved, quickly stabbing him in the arm.

"I said fuck off." She snarled.

He let out a grunt of pain as he grabbed the knife and yanked it out, letting it clatter to the floor as his hand shot out and grabbed the back of her neck. "I think it's high time you and I have a little chat."

She glared at him, her anger taking over as he held her head still.

"Damon, let her go." Elena pleaded with him.

"I will, after, we're going to go for a talk."

He pulled Kenzie out of the Grill and she let him lead her out, his hand still on the back of her neck, leading her to his car.

"You're not driving." She snapped at him. "Vampire or not, you're still drunk."

He held out his car keys, dangling them in front of her with a smirk. "Then you drive."

She glared at him before snatching them away from him.

"I thought you were terrified of driving?"

"I got over it when I was forced to take my exes car when he went on a psychotic rampage."

"And shattered my window. You owe me for that." He told her, getting into the passenger side.

Kenzie got into the drivers side and started the car, pulling smoothly out onto the road as she steered toward his house. "You cheated on me, let's call it even, shall we?"

"I didn't cheat on you. Why are you being such a stupid-"

"You finish that, I'll drive into the next tree I see." She snarled.

"You'll die."

"And I care because?"

He hit his head against the window in frustration and when she pulled up to the house, he got out and went inside, leaving her to follow. She did with a roll of her eyes, falling gracefully into a nearby couch.

"You got me here, what do you want?"

"Where's Stefan?"

"Why do you think I know this?" An exasperated Kenzie asked.

He moved over to her, getting right into her face. "Because you always know more than everyone else. Start talking."

"Why would I tell you if I did know?"

"Because once upon a time, you trusted me."

"Once upon a time, I was also in love with you." She whispered, not liking how close he was.

"Once upon a time? I have a feeling you still are." His lips quirked into a small smirk and she couldn't help but bite her bottom lip as he did that.

"No."

"Admit it." He pressed.

She shook her head, her eyes drifting up to meet his and without realizing what she was doing, she reached up and grabbed his head, pulling him closer so she could kiss him. He returned the kiss, reaching down to lift her up into his arms and she wrapped her legs around his waist, the kiss becoming more heated. She could taste the whiskey on his breath and beneath that, blood and briefly wondered if he could taste it on her.

As if he read her mind, he briefly pulled away to look down at her. "You taste like blood."

She leaned forward and gently bit his bottom lip. "shut up and kiss me."

His lips trailed down her neck and she could feel his fangs lightly scratching at her skin.

"Your room, now."

He pulled back again to look at her and seeing that absolute serious look on her face, he quickly moved them to his room, stopping just shy of the bed as he pushed her up against wall. Kenzie let out a small moan as her hands reached down to undo his belt and push his pants down enough to grab him and tortuously squeeze him before slowly pumping and enjoying the groan he let out at that. His hands moved to push her skirt up before ripping off the small piece of cloth covering her and in one quick movement, he entered her, both sighing as they were joined again after so long apart. She quickly grew impatient, using her legs to raise herself up on him and as she lowered herself again, letting out a small whimper. He was spurred into action, turning and moving them so they landed on the bed without losing contact. She grinned up at him and he reached down capturing her lips with his as he began a steady pace. She cried out in pleasure before moving her legs and maneuvering them so she was on top, slowing the pace as she moved her hips.

"Kenzie." He groaned, his hands coming up to tangle in her curls before he pulled her down to kiss her. She continued moving her hips, enjoying the angle she was at as she shuddered against him, briefly pausing as the pleasure overtook her. He took that pause to move so he was on top again, regaining his steady pace, knowing he wouldn't be able to keep it up much longer after not having her for so long.

"Damon, please." She moaned, his hand coming down to find that bundle of nerves, pushing her over the edge. He followed moments later, collapsing against her when he was spent. His tongue came out to lick her collarbone before his teeth sank into her neck and she grabbed the back of his head, pulling him closer, her eyes opening as veins appeared around her eyes. Her fangs extended, wanting so badly to sink into his shoulder but she stopped herself, concentrating on forcing herself back to normal. She couldn't believe he affected her this much, that she even let it get this far. When she was back in control, she relaxed against the bed, closing her eyes with a small sigh.

"You okay?" Damon asked.

She nodded as he rolled off of her and she turned on her side, not complaining when he wrapped an arm around her. She was mad, so mad at herself for falling into his trap. Why had she given in?

"I'm thirsty." She muttered.

"I'll go get us something to drink." He replied.

She didn't elaborate on what she was thirsty for exactly but let him go to get them something, giving her time to think and try and figure out what to do with all this. She sat up, looking around for her shirt but didn't see it so she grabbed one of Damon's shirt and slipped it on. Kenzie wondered if she would be able to sneak out without him noticing when she heard a new voice in the front room talking to Damon. She let out a small groan but made her way to the front room, regardless, stopping just out of view. She wasn't about to leave Damon alone here with Klaus.

"Don´t be so hard on yourself. Who could have guessed your own brother would betray you?"

Kenzie rolled her eyes. Perhaps it was time she told Damon the reason that Stefan did what he did.

"Well, I did have a front row seat when your sister lied to you."

"Yeah, well she´s fickle that one. And you say you have no idea of her whereabouts?" Klaus asked.

"That´s the thing with younger siblings. You just never know what they`re gonna do. Drink?"

She heard Klaus move, probably to take the drink before saluting Damon.

"Down the hatch. You know, we´ve actually got a lot in common you and I."

"Really?" Damon asked. "Well, yeah. Maybe we can bond over our mutual loathing of my brother. Why are you so mad at him? He stole something?"

"My family, the Originals. I had them daggered, boxed-up awaiting the day when I saw fit to wake them. And he went in and pinched the bloody lot." Klaus replied.

"Of course he did. Such a buzz kill, my baby bro. Well, I´d love to find him. Just the trouble is, I sure as hell don't work for you."

"You know, your drink stinks of vervain- so I can't compel you. There'll be no point in killing you because you're actually the one with the most help of getting me what I need. And yet it would seem a demonstration is in order. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough when I told you to find Stefan. Well, it seems you people respond best to displays of violence. Why don't you take this as an example of my reach." Kenzie heard him pull out his phone and dial a number.

"There he is! So, that thing I told you to do- why don't you go ahead and-"

Kenzie stepped out into the room. "What are you doing?" she asked.

"Ah, Mackenzie, I was wondering when you would make an appearance." Klaus said with a smirk, slightly lowering phone.

"Red, go wait in my room." Damon warned her.

"No, no, I kind of want her to stay. Perhaps she can shed some light onto the whereabouts of my sister and Stefan."

"God, I don't know anything. Give it up." She cried.

He finished the rest of his drink, putting the glass down before using supernatural speed to move towards her, grabbing her and lifting her up by the throat.

"You do not have a healthy dose of fear in you." He sneered.

"What, you're going to kill me?" she asked, not showing a reaction to his hand around her throat.

"Will you just come back again?"

"Quite possibly."

He put her back on the ground, about to release her when she grabbed his arm.

"Stefan has a message for you though."

His hand tensed around her neck again and she grinned up at him.

"Kenzie." Damon softly called in warning.

She ignored him though, her grin growing slightly maniacal. "He says to give up. You'll never be the man your Mother was."

His eyes narrowed at her and she heard Damon's almost silent groan.

"What are you doing?" Klaus hissed.

"Hopefully making you realize what a cunt you are but I guess that can't be right because you lack the warmth and depth of being one."

"You're really starting to make me angry."

"And I'm supposed to care? You've made everyone angry since the day you arrived, why should I care if I make you angry?" She didn't know who was on the phone but she wanted to distract Klaus and make sure he didn't follow through with his plan.

"Because if you don't stop, I have no qualms with killing you."

She leaned in closer to him a smirk filling her features. "I'll stop when you stop."

"Guess we'll see if you'll keep coming back then." Klaus smirked right back, grabbing her neck and snapping it.
