(A/N: Seriously, I am on a roll this summer vacation! It's like the Steven Bombs that are featured on Cartoon Network, only with Reverse Falls...a Reverse Falls Bomb, maybe?
Now, Bloodfist, sorry for replying too late, but yes, Mabel would be suspicious of those shiny sprinkles in Dipper's hair. It's probably the reason why they knew Gideon and Pacifica were nearby.
Also, I've got a surprise for you guys by the end of the week! A little Hiatus Intermission, due to the real-life hiatus between Summerween and Boss Mabel!)
The Trickster slowly walked up to Gideon, Pacifica, Tiffany, and Alice, causing the four of them to walk backwards into the Gravity Falls dump.
"So, children," he asked, tapping his fingers together. "Where's my candy?"
"I swear, we had it!" Pacifica said. "It's out there somewhere; maybe we could still get it!" Gideon, Tiffany, and Alice nodded as well.
But apparently, this wasn't enough for the Trickster, who towered above them and cast an imposing shadow. "I'm afraid it's too late!" he said, leaning over and getting close to Pacifica. "That was your last chance!"
Pacifica took another piece of candy from her pocket, and threw it at the Trickster. However, his response was to absorb it, and laugh maniacally. Pacifica backed away as he grew even larger and grew extra arms, and she turned towards her friends.
"Go, go! Run now!" she called, and her friends did exactly as they were told. Pacifica followed after them, though she could still hear the Trickster hot on their heels.
Alice screamed as the Trickster finally caught up to her and picked her up, and soon Pacifica tripped over a rock on the road, and fell over, before feeling a cold and large hand grabbing her by the legs.
"Gideon!" she called as she was lifted up.
"Pacifica!" Gideon called back, turning towards the monster. He didn't know what he was supposed to do – fight it? – but then it didn't matter as the monster picked him and Tiffany up as well, laughing all the way–
–until a car slammed into the monster, breaking him into various pieces. The four of them fell hard onto the ground, but Gideon felt he had enough strength to look up at their savior.
Robbie screeched the van to a halt, and got out of the van, looking around at the carnage. "That wasn't your regular pedestrian, was it?" he asked.
"Robbie!" Gideon and Pacifica called, running towards him.
"That was the monster, Robbie!" Pacifica said.
"That was amazin', Robbie, thanks!" Gideon told him. He sighed in relief. "At least it's over now." He looked hopefully at Pacifica, but Pacifica turned away from him, and walked around the side of the van.
They got into the car wordlessly, and put on their seatbelts quietly.
"Alright," Robbie said, "did everyone put on seatbelts?"
"Yes!" was the happy chirp from Tiffany and Alice.
"Yes," was the less enthusiastic reply from Gideon. To his dismay, Pacifica only nodded.
"Let's get out of here," Robbie said, starting up the engine, and adjusting the gear before driving away.
As they drove on the road (back towards the House, Gideon was sure), Gideon spotted Pacifica rubbing her knee. He saw that it had been skinned, and was now an angry red mess of scratches.
"Are 'ya okay, 'Cifica?" Gideon asked softly, but Pacifica turned away from him.
His face fell even lower, and he looked down.
He didn't mean to say that he liked being alone...he just didn't think...he didn't want...
Pacifica stared out the window, trying to focus her attention on something other than Gideon, but it was hard and soon she found herself thinking.
Why would he say something like that? Was it because he didn't want to trick-or-treat with her anymore because she was getting too old? And if that was the case, how many more things would they be unable to do together?
All these thoughts crossed her mind, before she noticed the particles of the monster flying past the van. Her eyes widened, and she looked out the window, sticking her head out to see where they were going.
And seeing that they were gathering into a large shape was not very comforting.
"Uh, guys...?" Pacifica said, now standing in her seat and looking fully behind them.
The fragments reshaped themselves into the shape of the Summerween Trickster, and it laughed before it leapt into the air. The kids screamed as they watched the monster fall on them, and they winced as they felt the crash.
The van began to swerve on the road, as Robbie struggled to regain control while the monster turned around on the roof to face the windshield. One more swerve, however, sent it flying off the roof and into a nearby electric pole, causing the pole to fall down onto the Trickster.
Meanwhile, Robbie turned his van, and they ended up travelling towards the Summerween Supermart. "Brakes! Brakes! Brakes!" Gideon found it in himself to scream while they pummeled towards the building, and Robbie pressed down on the brakes while they crashed into the front door, before coming to a screeching halt in front of some shelves.
All five of them got out of the smoking van, coughing and hacking. Pacifica cleared the smoke from her eyes with a hand, and that was when she saw the Trickster coming at them from across the street. She gasped, alerting the others to his presence.
"We hafta hide!" Gideon said, before they all ran for cover.
They hid behind and inside some shelves, before Gideon peeked out to see what was happening.
"He's blockin' our only exit," Gideon said, before he and Pacifica ran out of the Trickster's line of sight again. They hid behind some shelves, before scurrying into them.
"Everyone, stay quiet," Gideon urged the others.
"Oh, now you're worried about the monster," Pacifica snapped. "I thought all you were worried about was if I would embarrass you or not."
" 'Cifica, that's not it at all," Gideon said. The monster crawled right past them, but he concentrated on Pacifica.
"I just thought...you didn't need t'go trick-'r-treatin' anymore, 'cause you were getting' too old." He sighed. "I love trick-'r-treatin' with 'ya, but I don't want 'ya to be humiliated."
"You think I'd be humiliated by trick-or-treating when I want to do it?" Pacifica asked. "Gid, I have to go trick-or-treating because I'm getting older. There aren't that many Halloweens or Summerweens left that I get to spend with you...and I know your family doesn't celebrate Halloween, so I wanted to make the ones you have with me good ones..." Then she sighed.
"...I just never thought this would be my last one." she concluded.
"Pacifica," Gideon said softly.
Elsewhere in the store, the monster roared. A drop of sweat trickled down Alice's face, and she exhaled.
"We've got to get outta here," Tiffany said.
"What if it sees us?" Alice asked.
"If only we had something that we could disguise ourselves with," Robbie, who had been hiding in the costume rack, said, "something that could cover our whole bodies and make us unrecognizable..."
Tiffany and Alice shared a look, and so did Gideon and Pacifica.
The monster crawled about the supermart, unable to find the prey that he was looking for. It was indeed fortunate that he did not notice the people hidden in costumes that were sneaking right out of his sight, hiding right under his figurative nose.
When he crawled away, that was when the kids made their move.
"This way!" Gideon whispered, and Pacifica, Tiffany, and Alice followed after him.
They headed towards the door, and Gideon couldn't believe it – they were almost there! – when he realized that there were only three people following behind him, and he turned around, pulling the mask off his face.
"Robbie!" Gideon stage-whispered, and the others turned to look at the teen, who was about to press down on the automated skull of one of the candy bowls that he had been pressing earlier that day. The four kids backed against the counter.
"Robbie, don't you dare press one of those things!" Pacifica urged, pointing a finger to make her statement clear.
"Sorry guys, but today's been really stressful," Robbie told them. "Right now, I need some jokes." His hand reached down to press one of the skulls, and Gideon and Pacifica watched intensely...but when he pressed one, no sound came out.
"Oh, good," Pacifica said. "It's out of batteries."
Then they heard a ripping sound, and looked up in horror to see Robbie ripping open a pack of batteries, before stuffing them inside the skull, and pressing down on it.
"Now, now," the skull said, "let's not get a-head of ourselves!" Then it punctuated this sentence with a cackle, and Robbie chuckled, slapping his knee. "Man, this thing's the voice of a generation," he commented.
At that moment, a shadow covered Robbie, and he turned around to see the Trickster, opening his wide mouth to eat him. Robbie only had time to push that skull to release the same hooting cackle, before the monster scooped him up and swallowed him whole.
"Hey, ugly!" Pacifica yelled.
The monster turned around to see the kids bringing out various prop weapons that they had gathered from the props aisle, and were now ready to swing them at the monster. Pacifica slid under the monster before it could grab her, and she swung her sword at the monster's leg. Gideon did the same with his scythe, and Tiffany actually managed to get a hit by slicing the monster's arm off with her axe. A few fragments of the monster fell into Tiffany's open mouth, and she licked her lip a little.
"Saltwater taffy?" she asked, identifying the taste at once. "That's disgusting!"
"Huh?" Gideon asked, slicing again at the leg, and tasting the fragments that flew out at him. " 'Yer right!"
"Have you really not figured it out yet?" the monster asked, as it grew extra arms and regrew the one cut off, before grabbing the kids using these hands, leaving one free.
"Look at my face," he said, using his free hand to grab his mask and pull it off, "look...closely."
The things making up his face shouldn't have been able to do so, but the kids recognized it instantly.
"Loser candy," Pacifica realized.
"That's right!" the Trickster said. "Did you ever stop to think about the candy at the bottom of the bag that nobody likes? Every year, the children of Gravity Falls throw the rejected candy into the Gravity Falls dump! So I seek revenge...revenge on the picky children who throw me away! I am made of every day-old toffee peanut, every bar of chocolate candy with that...that white powder on the top? You know that powder?"
"I hate that stuff!" Gideon said.
"Yes, you hate eating me..." The Trickster began to grin. "So now I'm going to eat you."
Gideon and Pacifica screamed as they were being raised in the air, above the monster's mouth, but then they heard a disgusting, squelching sound...coming from inside the monster.
"What-what in the name of–!" The monster could only utter these words before his stomach distended, and then burst open, causing the monster to drop the kids.
Out of the stomach popped Robbie covered in candy bits. He screeched as he came out, before calmly chewing. "Hey, guys," he said.
The monster screamed, vomiting out some week-old jellybeans, before falling to the ground.
Robbie continued to chew calmly – apparently he had eaten his way out of the monster. He held up a large fragment of the monster – one that looked heart-shaped. "Hey, guys, you want some? It's really good."
Seeing the scene before them, the kids shook their heads.
"Wait," the Trickster said, in a weak voice, "you actually think I'm good?"
"Yeah, sure, man," Robbie said. "I am eating you."
The monster laughed. "All I ever wanted...was for someone to think that I was good..." Then he cried out candy corn tears of joy.
Robbie stared at him. "Uh, the crying's a little freaky," he commented, "but I guess I'm still eating."
Then out came the child that had been eaten by the Trickster earlier that night.
"Hey, man," Robbie greeted the child.
"I guess this is what it feels like to be traumatized," the child simply said.
Back at the Magic House, Dipper and Mabel had returned with bags full of candy and a few rolls of toilet paper, and were now putting the finishing touches on the House with the aforementioned toilet paper.
Dipper had finished rolling the toilet paper onto the porch, before yawning.
"Hey, Dipper, you tired already?" Mabel asked from the yard.
"Yeah, I guess," he said, rubbing his eyes.
"Well, I think we can sneak in there and get our candy already." she said, shrugging.
Dipper looked at her, before smirking. "Yeah, why not?"
They dropped the toilet paper rolls on the front yard, and tested the doorknob. It opened, and Dipper and Mabel shared a look.
"Man, he should have the common sense to lock this thing," Dipper said, before he and Mabel snuck inside.
"William?"
"William Northwest!"
Inside the bathroom, there Bill was, turning the shower on in the bathtub. He sighed, watching the steam rise from the tub.
"Wash off the shame, Bill," he said. "Wash off the shame."
Mabel snuck into the bathroom, laughing to herself, with Dipper following closely behind her.
"Aw, Dipper, he thought he could scare us," she commented, opening the door wide for her and Dipper to see Bill – just as he had undone his bathrobe in front of them.
Dipper and Mabel gasped.
"Wait, what?" Bill asked, blushing at the sight of the intruders.
Now it was Dipper and Mabel's turn to scream, as they ran out of the bathroom and away from the House, leaving their bags of candy behind.
At the door, Bill stood, wearing his bathrobe once again to cover himself. Then he allowed himself to laugh victoriously.
"Still got it," he said to himself.
It was late at night when Gideon, Pacifica, Tiffany, Alice, and Robbie finally made it back to the Magic House. They let themselves in through the front door, and made their way to the living room. Bill was sitting in his armchair, fully clothed, watching a Summerween movie.
"Hey, Uncle Bill!" Pacifica greeted.
"Hi, Mr. Northwest," the others greeted, almost simultaneously.
"Hey there," Bill greeted, smiling – he seemed to be in a good mood.
"Hey, guys," a voice said from the other side of the living room – it was Melody, who was busy carving out a jack-o-melon to the best of her ability. (It was admittedly very unimpressive, but it wasn't like Gideon was gonna say that.)
"Melody!" Gideon exclaimed. "So 'ya came after all!"
"Yeah, I did," Melody said. Then she looked at Pacifica, who was standing beside Gideon, and asked, "Hey, Pacifica, where've you been? I haven't seen you all night."
"Oh, I was trick-or-treating," Pacifica said simply.
"Yeah," Gideon said, wrapping his arm around Pacifica's shoulders. "With me."
Melody didn't seem to be offended by realizing that Gideon had lied to her. Instead, she just smirked. "Should've guessed," she said. "You two are inseparable. Just like Soos and his popcorn when I tried to take his."
"Oh, man," Gideon realized. "We went t'every house in Gravity Falls, but we didn't get t'eat any candy."
"Candy?" Bill asked, and the kids turned to him as he pulled out two sacks of candy. "How's this lookin', kids?"
Gideon and Pacifica shared a look, and smiled.
A few minutes later, everyone had changed out of their Summerween costumes, and were now gathered around the TV watching one of those black-and-white horror specials shown only on Summerween. Bill had turned the lights off and gathered the candy in a pile in the middle of the living room, right in front of the TV. Tiffany and Alice were busy eating bowls of their own candy, while Robbie took the candy that the kids left alone, and Melody contented herself with not eating anything.
Pacifica leaned closer to Bill's armchair, and smiled. "Doesn't this remind you of your old Halloweens with Dad, Uncle Bill?" she asked.
Bill stared at her for a little while, before leaning back into his chair. "Yeah, I guess so," he admitted.
"Come on, let's take a picture! I'll send it to Dad," she said, standing up and whipping out her phone. Then she winced. "Ow," she said.
"What's the matter?" Bill asked.
"Nothing; it's just..." she looked down at her skinned knee. Then she looked back up to see Gideon with a first aid kit, holding it up for her. He knelt down and began to dab her wound with antisceptic. Bill snorted, and Pacifica looked at him.
"Gosh, that's exactly like my Halloweens with your father," Bill said quietly. "I used to get injured a lot and Preston would fix me up, every time."
Pacifica waited for him to say more, but Gideon had already stuck a bandage on her wound and Bill's attention was turned back to the movie – were those tears in his eyes? – so all she could do was smile back at Gideon.
"Thanks, Gid," she said, sitting back down on the carpet to join him.
They were all silent for a while, watching the movie and hearing Feathers cluck in the room, before Bill opened his mouth.
"Y'know what, kids, I've been thinking a bit," he said. "At the end of the day, Summerween isn't about candy, or costumes, or even scaring the heck outta people. It's the one day o'the year when the whole family can get together and celebrate the one thing that really matters...pure evil!"
Bill entered one of his laughing fits, and this time everyone joined him in laughing evilly. This went on for a few seconds, before they all paused to watch the movie.
"... So I ate a man alive tonight," Robbie said, and everyone looked back at him.
